Good morning Ginny and CJ and those who come in later...Meg and Phyl hopefully.
CJ I was wondering the same as Ginny, if you're going to be with family for the holiday. Too bad you don't live close. You would be more than welcome to come over here.
I don't even have my sewing machine in my craft cave. It's also in an alcove..off the living room. This way if I'm sewing I can sit and listen to tv that I'd have on for company plus it's near the woodstove so it keeps me warm. I can't put on the baseboard heat in the craft cave because theres yarn and fabric along the walls and in front of the baseboard heater. That's another reason the sewing machine isn't in there... too much yarn and fabric. I saw a thing today that said "I'm just a few skeins of yarn away from being called a hoarder". Well I got more yarn delivered yesterday so I have to say that although not actually a hoarder I am a yarn hoarder. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a whole room for my craft supplies and if I didn't have an extra room for dh's hobby supplies.
I've worked on starting another pair of men's fingerless gloves before I came in here. I'd left the others downstairs so now I have one of each pair started. I'm making one in navy and one in dark green both of which are hard for me to work the first row on because of the dark color..once past the first row it's ok.
It's warmer here today than it was yesterday but sure doesn't feel warmer. The wind is blasting so I'm glad I don't have to go out. Good idea CJ to get all the things you need tomorrow before the stores become very packed with people. You also have a great idea on using the crock pot. I recently got a new one and it's really come in handy already. The other I have is fairly small. On Thanksgiving they are having an instant pot on Black Friday sale so I'm hoping to order one of those. My son has one and they really love it. He's even done youtube videos on it and has been paid because of people watching his videos. I didn't realize they paid you for doing that.Ds makes hard boiled eggs in his. I wouldn't make enough hard boiled eggs at a time to do it in an instant pot but being that there's 10 in their family now it works for them.Of course they use it for many other things too.
Well I'm going to go and eat breakfast being that it's 2pm. Then back to crocheting unless dh has other plans. I might make him some kind of dessert today. So see you all later and have a great day

hi, I had to look up instant pot. never heard a pressure cooker called that before. jeana and carey got home a little while ago. we are done dog sitting till next time. yesterday we went to the holiday fair. I bought a pair of maroon mittens to go with my good winter coat. hardly ever wear that coat. only if I am a little more dressy for some reason. I am more of a knock around clothes type gal. haven't been doing to much in the playpen. need to get back to being there. this am our newspaper had a article about giving baked bread and cakes In a jar as gifts. this is not dry ingredients they are talking bout actual baked items. I never knew there was such a thing. this is the website if interested. fyi.u.wey.edu/safepreserving/2017/11/10/canned-breads-and-cakes-an-unasafe-holiday-gift' interesting. phyl

Yes Instant Pot is just a brandname for an electric pressure cooker
Phyl, I've never heard of making and gifting bread and cakes in a jar. They also mentioned pumpkin pie in a jar and the whole thing talks about the dangers of food poisoning if you eat these things. I don't expect to be receiving any. Years ago my ddil gave everyone choc chip cookie mix in a jar but it was so pretty I never made the cookies, just kept the mixture in the jar. I finally (I think) dumped the flour, etc out and kept the jar.
I never do dressy either.Going to church I wear a skirt, skirt suit, or dress but I no longer have a dressy coat so I hang my jacket in the hallway with all the other coats. Dressy coat like most of the other clothes I had ended up way too big and I haven't and probably won't replace it.

Good evening! Phyl and Ruth, I love your THanksgiving avatars. No, I have never heard of an instant pot either.- sounds very interesting and if you have a large family and need to make hard boiled eggs in a hurry- well that sounds good. I have the old fashioned low tech pressure cookers. One for cooking and the other is a canner.
Phyl- glad you were able to find some nice gloves to match your dress coat. Ok, I do not wear mine much either, but its nice to have something that matches when you do. Was there anything else nice or that inspired you at the holiday fair? Thanks for the article about the hazards of baked goods in a jar. I have never heard of that, but will be sure to watch out for that now. I get some odd gifts from students sometimes.....hope I do not get one of those!
Ruth- well congrats on finding the yarn, first of all. Now you are not a yarn hoarder- you have plans for a lot of it right? (Wink). So nosy you have two sets of fingerless gloves you are working on. That gives you something to keep you busy no matter where you are. My church youth group does the cookies mix/ soup mix in a jar as a fund raiser. THey also do bags of dipped pretzels- I ordered a bag of those. The cookies in a jar are nice- if you make cookies that. Is. And you are right, either way the jar is useful.
I get slightly dressed up for church- although for Christmas Eve I put on a dress or holiday blouse and skirt.
Got about an hour of work in on the tree skirt- and as I am working my way around toward the center, each time around goes more quickly.
They come back tomorrow to work on the floors, so the house will be smelly. Final coat goes on Wednesday. At least on Thursday It will be all done until the following week. Only 2 days of work this week. I am thankful for that.
Indeed, it would be lovely if we could see each other- and be there to physically help each other if necessary. Holidays are tough for some, especially if they are missing a loved one. My dad passed December 16 many years ago- and it took a long while for Christmas to feel normal again. As CJ has noted from her experience with her bereavement group, some take a very long time to get over a loss. Some never really get over their loss. Needless to say, we are all here for each other...and even though not everyone is as much of a blabbermouth as I am, I hope everyone feels free to vent or share as needed.
Meg, hope you had a great weekend and that DGD and her DH get home safely. GInny

guess by dressy I should mean a nicer coat when I heave good slacks on. like for going to church etc. it's not a dressy coat like for dreseses etc. just a better coat then the one I wear with old jeans and run a round in. that one is old.
haven't done much today. we went to burger infushion for lunch .tooled the mall. don has a cold so he didn't want to go from store to store. this way he got his walk in.
as far as the fair there were candy, and seed vendors. a few vendors with yarn goods, quilting goods. picture fames, pottery, glass wares etc. there was some pretty things if you were interested in them. depends what a person is looking for.
I was hoping the guy with the glass nail files would be there. I like his files because they are thin. some you buy in the stores are so thick they defeat the purpose. I am not great at filing nails. just like those because they work better for me then the metal ones. don't care for emery boards.phyl

Phyl, that stinks that the one vendor you were looking for was not there! Sounds like at least there was some cool stuff to look at.
Just finished the stipple on the tree skirt. I should be able to give DD the tree skirt Wednesday. I now just have to cut the opening to go around the tree and finish off that raw edge.
Have a good night all Ginny

Yes I don't know that anyone really gets over a loss of someone very close. They just come to the point where they can live with it. And it does help to talk with a person that understands and can let you talk. Most people want to avoid a person who has had a loss because they don't know what to say The best thing is to just listen and ask loving questions.
Ginny, congratulations in getting the tree skirt VERY close to being done. It's great that you will be able to give it to her on Wednesday so that they can put up the tree as soon as they want.
Phyl, yes I'm sorry too that the vendor selling the files you wanted wasn't there. At least you got to see some interesting things even if they weren't things you were interested in buying. I hope Don's cold is soon gone so that he feels better.
I haven't gotten back to my crocheting yet. I have to go eat because of feeling hypoglycemic and after that will work on it again. Earlier I was watching tv with dh and now he's napping.
See you all tomorrow. I'll stop in later to see if Meg has posted. Safe trip to your dgd and her dh, Meg.
