I won't be doing it and I am OK with that. And Laura M, is right. People are saying well we didn't get fat on chicken breasts! Reminds me of you didn't get fat on fruit! I however, could easily overeat on chicken breast. This new program doesn't have weighing or measuring of zero point foods. I know they want you to eat to satisfaction, but if I could have done that years ago I wouldn't be here now. I over eat. I need guidelines. Therefore, I am counting calories or I will go back to PP. I like and need the structure.

For myself, I don't have a good enough handle on portion control to deal with these zero point additions. I would have to double track calories like I did with SP & that's time consuming. I was thinking of rejoining but not so sure now.

I had to laugh over on the UK Weight Watchers FB page.....so many complainers over losing daily points. I like how everyone NEVER eats any of the things that are now 0 pts and therefore will not have enough points in a day to eat. I think everyone is overthinking it. If you think they'll be an issue I would track both the old and new way for a week or two and see how it evens out. If you think you'll overeat in 0 pt foods - continue to weigh/measure. Always has been complainers everytime the program changes. Don't like the new one? Stick with the old and use an unofficial app to track! so ridiculous to complain about losing points. it's not like it's same SP program and they just decided everyone would get less daily points with same program just for the hell of it! hello! many items are going to zero!

Ran my numbers for a typical on point day for all the points plans, starting with the original points having the fiber cap:
Original: 26/26 dead on Points Plus:27/29 two over dailies Smart Points:30/30 dead on Flex/Freestyle:23/28 five over dailies
I'm good. I'm not changing how I eat, except to eat more. All that was only 1198 calories. I had to look for a while to find a current 30 point day, of all the typical everyday foods I eat. I usually eat 38 to 45 SP a day and lose right now. So I'm just going to say my points number will be up there on the new plan. No big deal.

I was thinking of rejoining but not so sure now. If you do it all the time, counting calories along with point doesn't have to be time consuming. I never miss tracking on MFP and so most foods just come right up when I start to put them in or they are on the list. FWIW, it is easier to do the tracking on a phone app than on the browser. Browser is OK but phone app is way faster. On an average day, I spend less than 5 minutes tracking. If I don't eat something new it probably takes 3 minutes or less. Now, at the beginning it took longer because I hadn't tracked most foods before. But, once you track them they will preferentially turn up. I would have some anxiety about all the new 0 point foods, but since I do track calories I am not worried about it. I do plan to do the new program even so. I think it well help me to eat more healthfully. I stay within my points and try to get reasonably well but I actually do eat too much food that isn't bad for me per se but it doesn't really give me nutritional benefit.

I gained 50 lbs over a couple of years. I will definitely weigh and measure.

LOL - zazzles!!! I was wondering if the writer is British because she kept using "programme". I guess I'm one of the complainers... I prefer more structure, like when we had Points Plus and the GHG. I miss those! Not so much complaining, but I do miss the GHG. If anyone is wanting a great WW group to join on Facebook, there's a very active group called Weight Watchers Over 50. A friend told me about it - I like it.

But I saw someone advise a poster to write to WW because if enough people complain maybe they will abandon the SmartPoints Version 2. Like that would happen. Didn't make WW roll bavk to PointsPlus.

Plan unseen, just going by rumors and what little we do know about the plan, I can guarantee you I will like it ( FreeStyle ?) better than sp.
I can't wait for the new material!

I have been going to some of the UK WW pages and looking at people's comments. They seem quite polarized. There are some people who feel they have a lot more flexibility and love it. Other people -- not so much. What I saw several times was something like this composite:
I see a lot of problems with this. Basically what I am seeing is that a lot of the people who don't like the program are eating red meat multiple times a day. They want to eat chicken/fish only a few times a week. They feel they can't have a dinner without it having red meat. Or, rather, they can't have that very often.
So some consistent things I've seen among some of the ones saying things like that:
1. They never mention eating any of the other newly zero point foods. They see that 7 points or more have been taken from them and they don't think of eating more beans, or eating corn or fat free yogurt. They seem fixated on chicken/fish/eggs. Not sure why that is.
2. A lot of the people who aren't having problems do eat red meat. They just don't eat it multiple times a day and most don't eat it every day. When I was a child my parent worked at a meat packing plant and got beef at a discount. So we literally had steak every night. We had some sort of red meat for lunches as well. We had chicken once a week. Occasionally fish. Many of the people reeling about this type of plan eat that way now. While I don't think there is anything wrong with eating red meat, I don't think that most people think it should be eaten every day. But, many are really freaking out because they can't envision any other way of eating. Personally I don't eat beef at all and eat pork once or twice a month. So that part of the plan isn't hard for me. But, I know a lot of people who do eat beef and most of them don't have it every day any more.
3. They are very fixated on the points they have lost and don't want to eat the things that are zero point. I can understand this. I do eat chicken and fish but I don't eat 7 points of them or the other zero point foods each day. I will need to adjust.
4. Some people are indeed filling up on 0 point foods and then using all of their points for junk food.
5. Some people do look for ways to game the system. To count 0 for foods that are pretty clearly still pointed.

Kitty, I do not belong to any UK forums, so I haven't seen any of the feedback. I'm curious though for the ones that are complaining about not eating eggs, or so and so not eating fish. My thoughts are: Why would they change the way they eat that much? Is it because of the drop of points? And they are trying to stay in the point range? I already know my eating patterns are not going to change that much, except I will probably add chicken or an egg or two extra a few times a week if I am still hungry, knowing I don't have to count the points. I accepted the fact that I will always go over my daily points, I always have been, based on caloric intake, except for the rare occasion I get a 30 SP day, just on a fluke lol. Just thoughts going through my head right now
