Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm so glad the little boy was alright, that had to be scary. I swallowed a button once when I was a child in school Your weather sounds nice and I'm glad you are getting some crafting and reading time this weekend. Ginny - I'm glad you have your Christmas decorations up, I know lots of people that decorate on Thanksgiving weekend. Hope you do get your binding this week so you can finish the tree skirt. Meg - Hope you were able to rest up today after your busy day yesterday. I'm sure you enjoyed your reading. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. I had breakfast out today with a few friends that I've known since childhood. They come back to town a few times a year to visit family and we try to get together. It was nice to catch up with them. After breakfast we went to the Christmas Tree Shops store and I found a few things there. It's amazing all the Christmas things they have this time of year. The weather here is very nice today, up in the 60s. It's supposed to be colder tomorrow, but then get milder again next week. I might use some of the leftover cranberries I have to make a Cranberry Orange Bread, I found a recipe for one that looks good. Take care everyone!

Meg, I don't think they are going to do anything because if the magnet was there they would have seen it on the xray. My dgd wasn't sure that he ate it but she was told and it does say online on reliable medical sites that if you even think your child has swollowed a magnet to take them for an xray.
CJ, what fun to have breakfast out with old friends and it's nice they come back to town every so often. I bet you found some nice things at the Christmas Tree shop. We used to have some kind of Christmas store here but it close quite a few years ago.
Ginny, I hope you're having a good day and enjoying your dd being home
I finished the second pair of gloves. I had most of the first glove done and did the second one and am now finished with the first glove of the third pair. they go fast. The cuff is the slowest going part and once that is done the rest goes fast. I have a while bunch of Red Heart's Team Spirit yarn that I got marked down at Walmart. They marked it down to $1 so I bought a bunch then next time I went there it was fifty cents so I got more. It seems to work well for these gloves.I think that 12 year old dgs will like them so I added one more pair to my list.
Speaking of yarn, I ordered some more today. They were having sales on Craftsy and then I found a coupon online for free shipping so got a good deal. I'm definitely going to have to step up my crocheting.

Blessed Sunday all!
Ruth, gee what book was so bad that you decided to put it down so quickly? In recent times I have only had that happen once- I attempted to read the first adult book written by JK Rowling - the author of the Harry Potter series. Now mind you, I have never made it all the way through a Harry Potter book either fantasy books with the bend toward mysticism/magic is just not my genre. Anyway, I got about 15 pages into the adult book, read way too many sexually derogation slurs and trashy language and realized this was not the book for me. Hey, congrats on finding the deal of the century for yarn! Nice that it works out well for your fingerless gloves. You make me laugh, you crochet more than everyone here, with perhaps the exception of Meg, and you indicate you are going to have to step up your crocheting! Oh well....happy hooking my friend.
CJ- how nice you were able to get out with friends again for lunch. Friends that have been together that long as so comfortable to be with....and it sure is a wonderful thing to be able to share your life with people who really know you well. What did you pick up at CTS? That store is a hoot- they have some great deals on practical things for the house, but also adorable holiday/seasonal decor at good prices. Did you end up making the cranberry orange bread?
Meg, its not surprising that you took a little bit of time off from the afghan. It will be done soon enough....perhaps after a few days of a break from it you will be ready to finish it. Indeed that is a long day with Dd- really wonderful that they bring her to you.
Gotta scoot....Dh just got up. Hi to Phyl- GInny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying the last day of the holiday weekend It's a sunny, blue sky day here, just a little cool and breezy. I'm so happy to have the mild weather this late into November. At the Christmas Tree Shops I found a pretty Christmas mug that I'll use to drink my daily few cups of tea. I really enjoy sitting and having tea a few times a day. I also found a cute little light that is shaped like a Christmas candle and it changes colors. It has some liquid in it and when you shake it's their are crystals in it to make it look like a snow globe. That place has so much stuff, but I just don't need it so I'm glad I could resist. Take care everyone!

I second the Blessed Sunday wishes to all. It's a nice day here although a little windier than I would like
Ginny, the book I was reading is by an author I've read for years. She writes a series but this is a stand alone book. She's also a mother so I really don't know how she can write a book like this. The storyline is good but the book gets completely away from that and talks mostly about the main character's life. He's a teenage boy and the book is full of teen angst and sex. It's just a completely unrealistic scenerio...not with the sex and drugs because I'm sure that's much more common than we even know or want to know...but with the teen vocabulary and other actions. It's hard to explain. I'd sure like to find out if and how they catch this serial killer that the book is supposed to be about but I'm not going to wade thru anymore of it. In most of the reviews I've read (after I started the book) they say it should be listed as a YA book but I sure wouldn't want my young adults exposed to this book.
Well I probably do crochet more than anyone here but that's because I have so much free time. I do have three full pairs of the gloves done now and one glove from pair #4 done except for the weaving in of ends. I'm going to try to finish gloves today then on to the rest of the Christmas presents. After all that is done I'll make some more gloves in case these don't fit some of the hands or they like others better. The first three are all the same pattern but one I made the arm part longer for more warmth. I'm also going to make some with the same pattern but with the cuff a different color and the top ridge. Maybe a dark gray for the cuff and top ridge and light gray for the body of the glove and same with blues. The 4th pair is a different pattern and is made with gold and dark blue Team spirit yarn.
CJ, the CTS is yet another place I should be glad we don't have here because I would be way too tempted to buy. The things you got sound great. I know I would love the Christmas mugs as I do like mugs of all kinds and I agree about sitting and enjoying a nice cup of tea. It's very relaxing.

Good evening! Today just got away from me......and now I am facing the last hour or so before I have to go to bed. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but I am sure it will be fine.
CJ- well I just love CTS! They do have great deals on all kinds of things- and do a very nice job of carrying seasonal items. When I go to shop there with my friend we normally have to try really hard to restrain ourselves- its so tempting and they have so many cute items. I love the idea of a. Special mug for you for your tea. That is an old WW trick to serve something you like like tea in a very pretty or attractive mug, makes it seem to almost taste better. Hope you are enjoying the cheery glow of that candle light, which does sound very pretty.
Ruth, I love the idea of a different color cuff for the fingerless gloves. It does sound as though you are having fun making the different variations of fingerless gloves, so there is a style and color for almost any taste. Hey what are your plans for that yarn you picked up from Craftsy?
Got to church this am, then to the store just to fill in on certain items. It was not a huge shopping trip. We are starting to put the dining room back together- but that will get messed up when we move the living room furniture in there tomorrow evening when they go in to refinish the floors in the living room on Tuesday.
Hard to believe tomorrow begins another week. Hi to Meg and Phyl. Ginny

Ginny, good to see you back. I'm sorry your weekend went by so fast.I guess you don't have anymore mini vacations till Christmas but that time will go by faster than we want it to.At least your tree is up and house decorated. Now just to get the rest of the floors done and you'll be back to your normal house but with nicer floors.
Most of the reason I ordered that yarn yesterday is because I went to that site to look for Pound of love yarn in denim because I couldnn't find mine. I looked all over my craft room and dug under things. So of course today I went in to have one more look and of course there was the denim P of L sitting right there in the open...two whole skeins of it. So I started a glove using it and it's just so nice and soft. Even though it may sound strange I'm going to use some of it for baby blankets. People aren't going much for traditional blankets anymore so I'd bet that some moms will love to have them made with this denim yarn. Of course there will also be my usual hats and gloves too and maybe even a scarf or cowl or two. I ordered two and have two so you know how much yarn that is.
Of course I tried to find the end to do a pull skein thing but couldn't even get a small tangled mess of yarn to come out. All that wanted to come from the middle is a huge tangled mess so I'm using it off the outside. I didn't want to take time to wind that whole big skein into a ball. I'm still going to do some of the gloves in the two color scheme even though this pair with denim is #5 and all I really need right now.I do need to finish dh's scarf before he begins to feel neglected.
Get a good rest Ginny before work tomorrow and hello to Meg and Phyl Hello again to CJ and I hope you all have some enjoyable plans for the coming week.

Hi everyone, It is a very wet windy day here. Do I stayed home. I am going to attempt to work on my afghan and listen to a book. However my left wrist hurts do I may not get a lot done. That's the wrist I broke a couple of years ago. Arthritis makes both my hands stiff and sore. When I got up this morning DGD and Devin had put up the Christmas tree and a lot of the decoration. I had wanted to wait a little longer before doing that.
cj. that was great that you have childhood friends that you meet up with from time to time. I would love to be able to do that.
Ruth, I agree that the vocabulary in a lot of books and movies is horrible. Young people use the "F" word like it really was the grown up thing to say. I am glad you are getting a good start on your Christmas gifts and that the gloves are almost finished. Too bad we have to weave the ends in. I have quite a few to take care of when I finish the afghan.
Ginny, I have not read the Harry Potter books and I don't think all the magic and mysticism would appeal to me. Now I am going to listen to my book and hope I can do a little crocheting.
I wish you all a good evening.

Hi Meg. Kids become so impatient waiting to put up the Christmas tree so I supposed Devin''s mom just thought it was easier to go ahead and do it than listen to him keep asking.Or maybe she was anxious to get the deocrating started herself. Yes a lot of young people today use very bad language even the girls. It's horrifying. Even some small children speak like that every day. I'm sorry to hear that your wrist is hurting. Must be the dampness aggravation the arthritis. I've never read a Harry Potter book either. My dd is a huge HP fan and has read every book and seen every movie and has HP clothing and accessories. She just doesn't get the concept of magic and mysticism being at odds with what are supposed to be her beliefs. Ok back to crocheting. I have the first of this pair of gloves done and have strted the second pair so #5 will be done tonight...probably.Had to take a break and see if Meg had come in and she did
