Good morning Angels and happy hump day!
Yesterday was supervised workout at the M.O.G. Kevin could see I am making progress, so on some of the exercises he added a slightly more challenging twist by incorporating different leg movements. He also added an interesting one where you lay on your back near a wall, and press a stability ball into the wall with your feet. You have to keep the feet fully flush to the ball and roll it up the wall a little, down, then side to side. That really challenges all the core stabilizers.
Daily Affirmation - today I challenge myself to sit upright, core engaged and to use good posture.
Fitness Report - workout at the M.O.G. and Margaret Richard in the evening for chest, triceps, deltoids and back. After seeing all the frail and weak non-exercising seniors at the M.O.G. I was motivated to use heavier weights for as many reps as possible before dropping to a lighter weight.
Health Goal - see above and also BEHAVE at book club Christmas party tonight!
Gratitude - my trainer Kevin and my book club friends. We will have a special guest tonight, one of our members' Mom is in town for the holidays and she is such a delight.
Anetta how did your meeting with the nutritionist go?
Suzanne how are you feeling today?
Waves to all. ♥

Good morning, Pat...as always, thanks for rolling out our virtual welcome mat! Whew, it sounds like your workout session was a challenging one, especially the one utilizing the stability ball against the wall! Just curious, what size ball is used? That exercise is one that I may want to try. You are blessed to be working with a trainer who has come up with a targeted regimen just for you that is yielding such positive results. Enjoy your book club meeting and special guest tonight...fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la! Thanks for asking about my nutritionist's appointment. The one I met with, different than who I have seen previously, was quite helpful and encouraging. She offered some great practical tips about creating a "healthier plate" at mealtimes, recipes using quinoa, and a reminder about avoiding uncooked vegetables in the nightshade family (she has RA). The best takeaway, however, was her observation that I have made significant progress since my first visit and am perhaps being too hard on myself by having such high expectations. Lifestyle changes related to medical conditions are challenging, so why should it be any different for me??? The perfectionist in me says it SHOULD be easy; the realist says that I'm doing well and just need to keep reinforcing healthier habits. I came home with a sense of relief and a better attitude. Hey to Lisa, Suzanne, Michelle, and Carol! Daily Affirmation - I am the embodiment of good physical, mental, and spiritual health! Fitness Report - Morning walk done, 10K + steps. Dog walk still to come. Health Goal - Use a visual to create a healthier plate for today's meals. Empty my water jug. Gratitude - As I passed my old elementary school during my morning walk, I saw a group of teachers and kids gathered on the playground, singing and dancing to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". That sight sure put a smile on my face and I started humming along with them. May you experience the joy of the season today!

Good Afternoon: Thank you all for sending some good thoughts and wishes yesterday. I still have the ab-cramping today. Its like the med just stopped working. Or, as DH suggest, my anxiety is so bad, that the med can't keep up. (sigh) I'm doing the best I can to function.
Pat, I had asked about your back problems because I had the sense that you had been living with ongoing discomfort. Maybe, knowing this makes me feel a little less "alone" - not that I wish any of us any kind of ongoing discomfort/pain. BTW, what does M.O.G. stand for?
Lisa: Your house sounds like a hubbub of activity. Our furnace is being replaced even as I type. Thank goodness for this. One less thing for me to worry about. Fortunately, today is a sunny day, so the sunshine, along with a space heater and a fireplace are keeping me warm.
Anetta: I hope the appt with the nutritionist goes well for you. Any forward-progress is good, right? No perfectionism needed. (I need to keep telling myself that.)
Carol, Michelle, Pam - come join us when you have time.
Daily Affirmation: I am not going to be so hard on myself.
Fitness Goal: Keep warm and do what I can.
Health Goal: More meditation. Lots of hydration.
Gratitude: For DH and all of you, who are so supportive as I wind my way thru this anxious (the worry-wart voice in my head) and annoying (IBS) period. It reminds me that I am not alone.

Anetta, yay on the better nutritionist visit and on your making positive changes. It makes such a difference to have a health professional who really understands what you are dealing with. The stability ball, I'm not sure of the exact size but a good guideline for a home one is to sit in a chair and measure from where your foot touches the floor to your bent knee. That is the right height for an individual.
Suzanne you are so not alone. I honestly think more of us are struggling with some thing than are not. Hurray on having a dependable and warm new furnace installed!
I wonder how things are going for Lisa in Chi-Town - is it snowing out that way?
Hmm, now that it is winter I should try three weeks of not going near a nightshade and then test them again. A good New Year's resolution.

Hi, all! I found you! I saw the warning that we had to move the threads again, just got too busy to actually post here. Not any one thing is making me crazy, it's the sum total of all the chaos, LOL. I had to sign up for some courses for next term and the 15th is the mail in deadline. I'd been procrastinating about what to take, but finally committed and stood on line at the P.O. today to get that postmark. I'd love to work on my response to change/chaos/indecision/second-guessing/perfectionism, through affirmations and such. So thanks for being here and for being so welcoming<3 Daily Affirmation - I am stronger than any excuse (<--borrowed from the "official" WW site) Fitness Goal or report - keep moving, take regular breaks from sedentary activities; signed up for continuing dance classes in Jan. Health Goal - a comfortable margin in my target wt range Gratitude - for all the kind, loving people out there, and there are MANY Be Well! Carol
