Thank you Ginny. Yes I think I saw on Dateline or somewhere that a child had gotten his scarf or something stuck in the bus door and ended up being dragged under the bus. That was many years ago so I bet they quickly put it into the training to make very, very sure that the child was well clear of the bus and in a safe place before leaving. And of course I know that you are very diligent in your work and very aware of the safety of the children entrusted to your care. Those scarves with the built space in the middle to pull over the head I think is called a snoody. I actually have a pattern for one that is for a child. I'm going to use it and enlarge for dh because all the adult ones have that point that results when you follow most of those pattern's directions. This one has a rounded back of the hat. He doesn't want a point but he needs to keep his neck and his shiny head warm My pattern is for a crocheted one though

Ruth you are absolutely right about the incidents with kids getting stuck in bus doors. There have been several changes in bus door/exit design in an attempt to minimize hazards to the students- but there is no perfect system. Of course you would notice and remember these kind of incidents with your medical background. Gee, your Dh also has a shiny head? a snoody would be wonderful to take care of that.
Finally got my hands on the baby afghan pattern.
Saw the most lovely scarf pattern while looking for the baby afghan pattern just what I need, another project! I am going to go back and look at the pattern- what a magnificent scarf. Ginny

Thank you girls. I wont make it long wasnt planning to, think I was more curious about width, hannah does wear scarfs.she usually has them in front not to the side.I will warn her about door catching. Her driver is pretty good about making sure the kids are on before closing the door.phyl

Well Ginny, you know me so I'm wondering if you could post the link to that scarf. And yes, dh's hair fell from his head to his face. He has a beard. Actully his beard is much thinner now too.
Phyl, I think to have a scarf or not depends on each individual child and what the parents thing so if she is a careful child and her parents are ok with it then you should definitely go ahead with the scarf. And the number of stitches of course depends on the size of the needles but I think an 8 inch scarf is the usual width so whatever number make 8 inches would so. Some people do like a wider scarf and it would be warmer.
I was cooking and cleaning earlier so haven't got back to the gloves yet but they're fast and easy so it won't take long. Tomorrow will be my day for all the weaving in of ends. It's going to be very cold so I'll put all the things that need end weaving into one basket and have the while thing downstairs and have my little heater on and my electric teakettle ready
Meg, I hope you're doing ok. It's been a couple days. I'll stop back later to see if you've checked in. Is Devin excited about Christmas coming? What's at the top of his Santa list this year. I never know anymore what the most wanted item for the year is for kids.
OH and Ginny, I'm not a big fan of bunk beds anymore either since we had a young girl at our hospital who was playing on the top bunk and I can't remember what it was but she fell off and something she had had caught around her neck and she was hanging. Before they could get her loose enough time had elapsed that she suffered permanent brain damage which affected both her intellectual and physical abilities. It was so sad.
