Short and sweet goddesses is a thread especially for us "Short n' Petite Gals". As "Short n' Petites", we have our own issues. Our goals are lower, and as we all know, a 5-pound loss or gain can make a huge difference on a Short n' Petite. We are here to support and encourage one another, so please feel free to join us!

Hi all,
I will be very glad when this semester is over. Lots of issues with several different things.
My immediate family is planning a trip out west for the second half of May. We’ll go to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc. Any hidden gems that we should see?
Sue, you are doing really well with exercise. I need to get back to doing the bike regularly. It really helps my mood. Did it this morning.
Joan, how’s the quilting going? Has your mouth healed ok?

Just marking this spot so my ipad will recognize the December thread as the last posted for tomorrow.
Very excited this morning tho when I stepped on the scale I was down a pound below my WW WI for my LT goal—-yay—-no bread the past three days and eating fish more and more protein in general—thinking it makes a really big difference. Also no sugar other than fruit for three days.
BBtomorrow.

Good morning all—-Holly, you are so good about remembering that we have moved on to December—-thanks for setting this in motion.
Today fall is moving in to Vegas—-there is a relatively stiff breeze blowing leaves all over the place (of course, DH picked up all the leaves yesterday and the yard looked fabulous!), the temperature is still going to get up to about 70 or so but tonight it drops down in the 40’s and tomorrow the high will be in the 50’s—-all this coming week the highs will be high 50’s or about 62 at the most—-so that will be a big change for us!
Yesterday I picked tomatoes in anticipation of this—-got about another 3 # and took a bag over to my WW BF to fry and brought back about 10 pounds of meyer lemons! We visited them about an hour—-DH and her DH enjoy chatting—his growing up black in the 30’s and Gary’s having lived through his dad as superintendent breaking down racial barriers in Education in the 50’s an 60’s here makes for really good conversation.
We also went to the olive oil store I love—DH had never been—he was really impressed—he found Graber olives there and was able to tell the owner the story of his dad and Loren Gibbs who owned the company at one time—-and he bought a couple cans for old time sake. His dad was in Reno back in the 30’s and saw Loren Gibbs in a casino looking homeless—he was gambled out of money and his dad gave him money to fly home to SLC—Loren Gibbs never forgot it—-sent them cases of olives every year, came to town and handed his mom 500$ each time and insisted she play the slots “on him” and took them out to dinner. So funny cause I’d never heard this story before either.
Had dinner out again with cruise BF’s who are in town for five days again—played a game of cards after. They are pretty much gone other than having an apt.they drop in on occasionally.
My scale stayed in place today so that’s good—-hoping not to do the dance around this number for a month—would like it to go down another pound or two before Christmas.
Today I will put up the tree and decorate—and perhaps start to draw the last panel of applique for the quilt—Holly, I am trying to draw out full size panels for all the applique sections so that I can start cutting and applying material to a base getting ready to sew—-I am not a great artist so it’s a long process with lots of erasing, and I still do not have the right look on the seagull wings for the umbrella panel. WW BF pointed out part of the problem yesterday so I will try adjusting what she suggested and maybe it will then be finished. This last panel I am using a pattern for the two girls so it will be a bit easier because at least I only have to draw their hair to make them look like the DGD’s and then create a sunset in the background. Hopefully in about a week I can begin to sew.

Sue, what is the depart date for your cruise? I cannot even imagine preparing to be gone to long but I know you are excited about it. By the time it is done you will have another whole group of friends to come visit you occasionally!
Holly, when does your winter break begin? Will you have to do an all nighter during finals before Christmas? How is your jaw doing with the new bridges? Is the alignment better or has it been a big adjustment?
JoAnne, I hope you are doing better with the back issue—-it was back wasn’t it? Have you been walking again? I must get back to walking—-gym is in place but still need to walk.

Hi!
We went out to dinner last night with neighbor couple and ex-neighbor couple. The ex-neighbors moved out of our building into townhouse last year, miss them, they were on the condo board with me. We went to a new sushi place that just opened up a couple blocks from our house. It was pretty good, some service issues but it was their second day of opening.
They all came over our house for cocktails and then afterwards for ice cream. It was fun.
Joan, I can't even remember the last time I used an iron, haha. Great job on losing!
Holly, hope the work issues can get resolved. Thanks for starting new thread
Cruise starts Jan 4, we will fly to Miami on the 3rd.
Starting the diet tomorrow, getting groceries delivered today.
It's getting cold here. Tonight is the super moon!

We saw the super moon here as well—-no clouds as the wind all day blew them all out—-windy again and temps dropped to 41—that is a 18 degree drop from night before! High will be about 55 today. Last night we had fresh caprese salad—-picked the last of my tomatoes—-there are lots of little new ones but they won’t make it now. Never in Vegas has it been this warm this long! Usually on or day after Halloween the heat has to be on — this morning for the firs time we turned on the heat for about 20 minutes. Ordinarily the first week of three of December is when we get below freezing at night.
Wow, Sue, your trip is right around the corner!
Tree is up and finished—only have mantel garland left to do and wreath on the door.
Sue will your two week reset diet be done before Christmas so you can enjoy your dinner with family? Hope so.
Off to the gym!

I don’t have to do an overnight, but I’m working second shift next Sunday evening.
My jaw feels better, but keeps trying to bit and clench on the new bridges because I am not used to having a bite on both sides. I take a muscle relaxer at night, which seems to help.
Sue, that sounds like a fun evening.
Joan, the weather has been weird all around.

Hi!
Day 3 on diet, already feel much less bloated. Hardest part is no carbs and wine/alcohol, but it does get easier with each day. It's a 2 week diet so will be able to enjoy Christmas dinner, but I'm hoping to still keep the carbs low after the 2 weeks.
Volunteered yesterday. Worked with a group of intellectually disabled people yesterday for one of my tasks, very, very sweet people. There are several groups there from different organizations.
Joan, the moon was big and bright for days before and after super moon day. Still warmer than usual weather here, and we still haven't turned the heat on.
Holly, glad your jaw is better.
I have a ton of things to do and organize before we leave, writing it all down.

So impressed with your volunteer work, Sue! Way to go on the pre-cruise diet! Sounds as tho you timed it just right.
I did regular yoga today and weights—pilates and easy yoga yesterday—-wow pilates was a work out—-lots of deep core stuff, really good. Did some more on the floor last night while keeping Tanzi company. In weights today we did all weightlifting with an 8 inch ball between our knees, thighs or ankles—-the leg lifts from the chair with the ball were toughest as I sit on a balance cushion to up the ante a bit! Was exhausting. Breezy and cold again today—have to wear a winter coat and scarf around my neck now to be comfortable. The fires in LA are so horrible—-the videos are hard for me to even watch!
On pins and needles about the Middle East.
Made chicken noodle soup so we had that again for supper last night with caprese salad and green beans—-am trying to eat a ton of veggies. Tonight will be a grass fed beef patty with brussel sprouts, a bit of cauliflower and beet salad.
bought new dishes at Crate & Barrel—The pattern is Marin—their in-stock dishes—I love them—white with a few pieces of light blue for a bit of mix and matching when desired. Because they are irregular like hand made pottery they look great with my pottery serving pieces—love eating on the white. A guy wants to buy my snowman serving pieces for 30$ but did not come by and get them—-thought he would while I was at the gym. Hoping he still takes them. WIll advertise the Calvin Klein Khaki ones I have replaced—-only a set for about 7 now with so many have chips on the edge—did not realize how many till I took them out of the cupboard today. Hope to maybe get $30 or so for the set—-I should put them on eBay but don’t know how—they are super expensive there as they are no longer available anywhere—-my pasta bowl that broke was offered on ebay for 50, needless to say I did not buy one!
A friend from the gym fell down and broke her arm—-bowling-=feel so bad for her—-she dances and does weights all the time—-hoping that makes her heal faster..

Just had lunch after pilates and yoga, both of which were really quite intense—again, lots of core. I did a headstand here at home the other day—first time since the beach annual headstand on my birthday—and I was pleased—-got right up only because of these core exercises I am sure.
I think my Eurosteam iron got lost in some black hole—-they have not returned my calls and have not called me with an estimate—-so will call again now and see—the last two days no one answers their phone—-makes me wonder what is going on!
I started the best series—-it is on Amazon Prime (free if you have it)—it is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel—-so good, and really funny, too.
I advertised all the dishes on Craigslist but so far no bites—-may just end up donating them to Goodwill.

So today was Susan Harvey’s b’day—remember her? She is still teaching—but now her husband has retired. Says she is doing well.
Sharyl Hurd posted an article her granddaughter had published—it is about being a page in DC in the Senate—I remember when she was—it was excellent. Sharyl still in cold Montana this year.

Hi!
Volunteered again yesterday, helped to make and package up some soup, about 500 quarts!
Have made a check list of things I need to do, especially with the trip and have been doing some today, making appointments, buying new work out clothes, etc. Much more to do.
Have lost 4 lbs since Monday!
Joan, with all the workouts you do I think you are more fit than I, all I do is walk. Sorry about your friend, so tough to deal with broken bones at an older age, seems takes longer to heal than when younger. Thanks for letting us know about Susan and Sharyl! Doesn't she usually go south in the winter time?
Bought some stuff from Athletica today, will get it in time so that I can do returns in time. Have been looking at some dresses for dinner as well on other websites.

It snowed here today! We must have 4 inches - alot for us. Never expected anything like this - maybe flurries but not 4 inches. It was in the 70's day before yesterday! I can enjoy snow much better now that I am not working and don't have to worry about going back and forth to work. Ofcourse it is the weekend here now and there won't be much of that anyway. Great to be able to just enjoy the snow!\
Holly - I finisihed the hat and it came out pretty good. Starting on knitting some socks - a challenge and like the hat I have restarted them a million times.
Joan - I have not started walking again. I do work in the yard about 2x/wk which at least gives me a little exercise.
Last night went to the church for a music event but got the wrong date and since we were out we went to a movie to see The Mountain between Us with Kate Winslett. It was a really good movie.
My DGS from Colorado is coming for Christmas. Will be here about a week. Lookinhg forward to that.
Sue - hope that you will be able to post with us some during your trip. It will be terrible to have you absent for so long. We will miss you!
I think the kneww brace that I now have has helped my knee and surprisingly, my hip(bursitis) some. I don't wear it all the time but as much as I can. The back support is good too but I can't tolerate it for very long so I only wear it when I am going out somewhere or sometimes when I am working in the yard.
