Phyl, you are absolutely right, any driver worth her salt ought to be able to handle a child with a scarf, as long as it is not too long. Pick something cute out for Hannah- hope you were able to find a pattern.
Ruth, with your background you have seen some of the horrors of mankind-bet you cannot look at a bunk bed without cringing. Later on when I get on the computer, I will post the link for that scarf, Its easy to make, and the big deal with it is the color changing yarn that you use. Oh, itโs gorgeous though! Will post the link later on- and I already checked out - Michaels has that yarn. Just what I needed another project!
Gotta get in the shower Have a great day all. Hope Meg gets to check in and I hope she is ok. (Ruth you brought that up thanks for reminding us) G

Ginny, I do have a couple kinds of the color changing yarn. I just bit the bullet as they say and ordered some of the mandala. It arrived and is beautiful. the only thing is mandal is a #3. I do have some though that is a different brand that is worsted weight.
Well it did get up to 60 yesterday afternoon but when I went to bed there was already several inches of snow on the ground. I'm glad I don't have to go out anywhere. the snow is pretty but I hate to have to brush of the car. Sure would get boring, though, to live in a place where it stayed the same all year. In the summer I find myself wishing I could wear my winter clothes. In the winter I can't wait till summer. It's nice today though sitting in my living room seeing the mountain out the window covered with snow and the wind isn't blowing so I could even make a fire if I wanted too. I cleaned out the woodstove just yesterday to prepare.
It's a new week. Lots of possibilities. Thank you Lord for another week.
Have a great one all.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I love the change of seasons too. I don't think I could live in a place where they didn't have that. The weather here is still nice and mild - 50s and 60s and sunny/partly sunny. But we're supposed to have some colder weather coming in later this week. I don't mind it since it feels good for it to seem like it's really December. I need to work on my Christmas gift list so I can figure out what I'm doing for the family. There are several family members that I have to mail their gifts to where they live in another state, so I usually just get gift cards for them. Take care everyone!

CJ, good to see you. I don't give many Christmas gifts anymore. My daughter, sil and grandkids here get the things I made. 3 great grands that are a year old and younger get toys and family in INdiana get a check for the family. I have one friend I'm planning on sending a small gift to and my sister will get a small gift and that's it.I don't send many Christmas cards anymore either but lately I've reconnected with a couple old friends and coworkers so they have added to my list.I think I might get the check and other things together this evening so they're ready to mail next time I got out to the mailbox or the store.I need to send a friend a get well card and still need to send dgs his graduation card which is of course, 6 months late in getting mailed.Maybe I'll get a start on the Christmas cards but that's just a maybe. Then maybe tomorrow the couple packages.
How are the rest of you doing on your Christmas shopping and other plans?

www.allfreecrochet.com/Scarves/Mountain-Land-ScarfOk, above is the link for the scarf. I am out on Friday and will probably going to pick up a skein. Like I said, I really need a new project....ha ha ha CJ- it sure is a challenge when you have to mail gifts. I used to make sure I mailed my gifts by December 15- that gave the postal service enough time. My sisters kids are now adults, so I no longer mail gifts. Do you have to mail any gifts a great distance? Hope you were not sore today after all that raking yesterday! Ruth Sounds like you have a bit of every yarn!! Me too, I would not like to live where there was not a change in the seasons. So far, our best ideas for gifts rea gift cards- but gift cards with intent. Like I know DD needs some clothes to student teach in, so a gift card for her favorite clothes store would work. I have Barely begun to shop- will fill you in later when I know what I am doing. Got some work done on the baby afghan. Ginny

Ginny, thank you so much for the link to that pattern. It truly is beautiful and I will make it for sure.Yes another project added to the list but one dgd did ask for a scarf. I did make one in color changing yarn but this one is prettier.
Gift card for clothes does sound like a great idea since she needs them and I'm sure wants to pick out her own.
I did get the three things all ready to mail, weaved in ends on 5 pairs of fingerless gloves, the bear, which had many, many ends, sewed the seam on the last cowl and wove in ends on it. Now I'll finish the fingerless gloves I mentioned yesterday and weave in those ends then make a bracelet for that grandaughter. I have one more thing after that to finish up Christmas things....a little applique on two of the baby balls.Oh and I still have the face to embroider on the bear
Meg still hasn't checked in and she usually does on Mondays especially. I hope she's ok

Hello everyone, I just have been busy and just have not had time to be on the computer. I was preparing to take my driving test and I was worried that I would not pass, just the written exam. I just did not want to be with out a license. My license will expire next Monday on my b/day. So today I took myself off to the DMV and he said it was perfect. So I was very happy on the way home. I always have passed my previous tests but I am just not ready to give up driving just yet. So now I can relax. I went to Knit Wits and one of the women was showing us her project. It was a shawl and I think it might have been the yarn you were talking about. She got it at Michaels and the label was by Loops. I will have to check it out. I have so much yarn that I hate to buy any more though I did for DGDs afghan. I put it aside because I was busy and then decided to add a few more rows. So it about finished and I have to weave in some ends and give it a wash. There is just so much to do at this time of the year. Tomorrow I have to send some things back to Blair. I have bought DD a lot of clothes for Christmas and I will get her some movies and art supplies. It's hard to know what to get her.
I have read most of your posts and I hope to get myself more focused so that I can check in. I wish you all a good night.

Meg, it's great to see you. After what happened a couple months ago when you ended up in ICU, we worry about you when you're not here but we do realize that everyone gets busy. Congrats on passing the driving test with flying colors. As far as I know we don't have to do anything like that. Just the vision test and I think you would have to be completly blind before they'd fail you on that here.
I had to come back to see if you checked in so now will go and do something like maybe work on those gloves. It would be nice to get the done tonight but I've been doing other things...watching tv and computer games instead.

Ginny, did you see that other scarf on the pate with the mountain land scarf? It's called "so good you'll want to borrow it". It's beautiful too and I love the color.Unfortunately it's not one of the colors of mandala I bought so guess I'll have to get more

Good morning!!
Just from looking at when Meg and Ruth last posted, I realized how neat it is that we can communicate like this. When I got up to check the thread (almost 2 hours ago) it indicated that Ruth had posted about an hour ago, and Meg only 4 hours ago. Hope everyone slept well last night.
Meg, great to see you here, and I agree with Ruth, we were a bit worried. Way to go passing that drivers test!!! Sounds like you are getting your Christmas shopping done- is Blair an easy company to deal with for returns? Some people are difficult to buy for- and we all want to find the perfect give that shows the person how very much we love them. IMO- you show your family that every day with the care and you provide for them, at a time in your life when you could just be selfish. But that is not you.
Not you either Ruth! Congrats on finishing the fingerless gloves and getting that bear almost done. How tough is that bear to make? My mom wanted to knit bears for my DGD- (DGS was born after she passed)...and now that brings that to mind for me, do I want to crochet a bear? Am I nuts? Do I have time for this? Answers in order are yes, yes and no. Anyway- glad you accomplished so much. That will make things easier when you have to pack up all these wonderful gifts to mail to your family. Sign up for all free crochet- you will get several emails a week- of course I delete a lot of them- but they do have some nice patterns.
Off to work I go. Have a blessed morning all! Hi to CJ and Phyl too G

Good afternoon!
Oh, dear Phyl I am so sorry, it sure sounds like you are not having a good day. Letโs hope that all your bad luck is out of the way for the entire month. I hope and pray that your back is better soon. Your chiropractor has a big heart....what a nice person. Hannahs bus driver follows good practice of waiting till the kids are seated before she shuts the door. Its tough carrying an instrument onboard for a younger student. I have to assist two of my 3rd grade kids with their large instruments

OH Phyl, so sorry about your back. I've had back issue so I know how painful they can be. I'm glad you have your chiro to take care of things. I think the biggest problem about the school bus issue is when the child gets off the bus. It has to be hard for the driver to see the children after they get off to make sure they are a safe distance from the bus and are in a safe place in general. It has to take a lot of patience and ability to gently discipline in order to be a good school bus driver.I do need to take my hearing aid to be adjusted but the place is on the other side of town so I never get there. Have a good and safe trip.I haven't been to Christopher and Banks for a long time. I loved their clearances in the back of the store and I love that their things are made large so you can buy a smaller size than usual and pretend you're actually that small It, too , is on the other side of town in our one mall. Ginny, the bear is easy to make but it's very time consuming with all the parts you have to sew on after the parts are done and also with the surface crochet you do to make those parts separate and to stand out so well. The other thing about the bear is that, although I followed the pattern completely, the feet ended up way too big so I had to do them over and make them smaller but that was easy because they are made with only five very short rows but it was four pieces that had to be made over...each of the parts has two pieces each...so four ears, four arms, four feet, then you crochet two of each together putting in a little stuffing as you go, and when you get ready to put the body pieces together you crochet the parts in as you go. I found that it's much easier if you sew the parts onto the front or the back of the body first them put the two body parts together and crochet around .So, as you see, it does take a bit of time. They do have some other really nice crochet bears but they all look like they have separate parts and would take time.I like this one because he's unusual and pretty flat. I did put that plastic egg with beans in it in his head...wrapped securely as I said I would wrap..Lots of duct tape.don't want anyone to choke on beans. This bear and baby balls, as well as the gloves and neck warmers I mentioned are all for the family here in town so no shipping involved this time. Yes it is great that Meg and I can post messages when you and CJ are well into dreamland and you will still see it just a couple hours later. As for sleep, another night of not being able to get to sleep. I do need to get out my lavender oil. I do have a diffuser ordered. Today is still cold but the wind is also blowing very hard so it's worse than yesterday. Luckily there's no place we have to go I got all my bills paid yesterday too so that's done for this year Have a great day all and it's great that now everyone is accounted for and well.
