Ginny, it's good seeing you and sorry you had such a busy day. You are one busy woman for sure. I'm glad that you got a couple minutes to crochet
Meg, I got my cards our too. That's as far as I've gotten. I do like to put a note in them and even a longer one more like a letter in a couple. I guess we're going to have to get on it soon because I hear there are only 18 more days till Christmas. No I don't have all my projects done yet. I did the seam on the first fingerless glove and tied off the yarn and weaved it in THEN I realized I forgot to leave the thumb opening so in trying to "unweave" the thread I messed up the stitches on the first row so ended up just pulling out the whole thing and just got done doing it over today, Luckily they're small and fast. Now to do the seams but this time I put in stitch markers to remind me to stop and leave that opening.
Meg, I'm glad you don't live in southern Ca. I bet there are people on over 60's that do though. So many terrible things happening in the world today but that's not surprising. I hope you find something you would like to work on next. The blue pound of Love is a nice color. Do you have a second color to go with it? I know you used to make your baby blankets holding two colors together. I do think that if you don't have a second color on hand that the one color woulld still work great.
I'm always afraid to wash things before I send because I'm afraid of yarn pilling. I know my dil used to at least, wash everything when it arrived at her house so another reason I don't bother to do it.
When I was looking at patterns the other day I found another cute thing for very small children. It's a little crochet duck and washcloth. It looks just like a rubber duckie. it was on craftsy's site. I don't have any orange in the sugar and cream or peaches and cream for the beak. or I'd make the babies in the family each one of those. Next time I go to walmart I'll get some. I would order but they are cheapest on walmart site but you have to spend $35 for free shipping.IN the meantime I could do the main part of the duck and I could do the washcloth in any color.Still have to finish last weeks things first though.
Ginny, I did sign up to get the emails from the Crochet of the day or whatever the site is called, but I haven't received anything from them yet.
Well I hope you all get a good sleep and Meg, have a good time at Knitwits tomorrow.
Phyl, I hope the back is better
CJ, I hope all is well with you too.

Here's the link for the duck and washcloth. It calls for scrubby yarn but I've never seen scrubby and wonder if it would be too harsh so I'd use the cotton..either peaches and cream or sugar and cream. I guess the duck is made with a drawstring on the back under the tail so that you can put a cake of soap in it. I think I'd just stuff and sew that part closed. www.marymaxim.com/downloadable/download/sample/sample_id/978/

A short hello before I head out to work.
THe all free crochet usually sends something every few days-its not a daily- make sure its not in your spam box. I have seen scrubby once- think it was AC Moore.
Have a great day- if I get so stop in it will probably be much later. G

Good morning!
Meg, good for you getting your cards out. Indeed they are a lot of work, but a nice way to keep in touch with those you do not see often. I like to write something in each also, but some yearsI only have time to just get the card written out. Congrats on finishing DGD’s afghan. Hope you came up with something nice to bring to Knit wits today. Glad its cold......remember how hot it was this past summer? Pound of love is so nice to work with, I am sure you will find something nice to make.
Ruth, the duck and washcloth sound adorable. Will have to check out that link later on. From the link it looks like Mary Maxim is still in business?! My first crochet project was a Mary Maxim kit.
At the hairdressers now- hope to get a bit of crocheting done. They say we are in for snow tomorrow, only an inch or so...
Hi to CJ and Phyl Ginny

Ok, here is a perfect example of what I was referring to when I mentioned Christmas cards with just a signature. Of course some people feel that it's an obligation to send cards every year and if you have business associates you aren't going to write a note...maybe say thinking of you or something or maybe nothing at all. But, my dh never hears from his family. One of his sisters sends a card every year at Christmas and we got one from her today with just her name. Not even her husband's name. Last we heard from her was last Christmas season when she sent a card. You would think that since they're family that she would at least say something about how she's doing and what she's been doing during the year but nope...nothing but her name. Other weird thing about her is that she was divorced and remarried but still uses her first husbands last name. She even has really pretty address labels with last name only and it's his. Makes me wonder if she's still with this new husband of about a year and a half. They did live together for several years before marrying. But even from the time they married she used the other husband's last name
No crafting today except for our version of what counts as crafting...that is looking at patterns. Now if I just worked on the patterns themselves making something I would accomplish something. As you know I do get some things done but I could get a lot more done if I actually spent more time making and less time looking. I've also done some make ahead cooking so at least I accomplished something..

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and looking forward to the weekend We are supposed to get some snow here tonight and tomorrow. Sounds like it's going to be a wet snow and hopefully won't stick to the roads (since they should be warmer). I'll enjoy watching it tomorrow, since I don't have to go anywhere this weekend. I guess I need to get working on my Christmas cards. I did go out today and got some Christmas stamps and some Priority Mail envelopes to mail the cards/gifts to family that live throughout the country. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Ruth,yup- I think we all get Christmas cards like that, those that are just signed. THe card from Dh’s sister sure sounds different, and I agree it sort of makes you wonder why she even sends a card. My Dh’s sister used to use computer software to make her own cards, not a bad idea in itself, but then she had the computer address the envelope and sign the card. Sort of made me feel rather sub human, but then she is a rather odd duck. I can never figure people out- and what makes the nuances of their relationship tick. My mom used to stress out over and obsess over my sisters marriage- they have been married almost 40 years. I kept telling her that as long as they are happy who cares....their marriage it their business, not ours. Guess I would put that sister of your Dh’s in that category. You just hope she is safe, happy and healthy. Now come on, looking at patterns sure does count as crafting! You have to get inspiration from somewhere right?
CJ- thanks for the reminder, I need to get my Christmas stamps! Hope you do not get much snow, and that you can keep busy at home watching the snow fall....its so pretty when it does. My sister attended college at American University in Washington - I well remember her remarking how the entire beltway area handles snow poorly- no one knows how to drive in it. Glad you do not have to go out in it! Only a few days ago, you were cleaning leaves from your yard.
They have upgraded our snow fall to 3 to 5 inches. We have no plans on going out during the day- so it should be fine. Began the slow process of putting the house back together after the floors. Dh painted the living room and changed the baseboards to colonial molding- it looks so nice! Ok I did get a little bit of crocheting in....hope to get a lit done over break. Got into Michaels, and yes, i bought a skein of Barcelona yarn, oh my it is gorgeous! It was on sale too...hopefully I will get a chance to make that scarf. Had to go into AC Moore to get the beads I need to make ornaments with DGD- Michaels had one in stock.
Hi to Phyl and Meg Ginny

I'm glad both of you can stay home and avoid being out in the snow. People seem to forget how to drive in snow each year so the first snow falls seem to be the most dangerous.
Ginny, I'm glad you got to work on the blanket again and that you got your house put back together. It's must look beautiful with the floors redone, new molding and a new paint on the walls.
So I complained but it sounds like your dh's sister was even worse...computer generated cards are great but, as you said, signed by computer...now I guess my dh has something to be grateful for. At least his sister signed hers.
I have Christmas stamps left over from last year. I wonder if I have enough
Ginny, we don't have a Michael's here so I looked on line and I did see that it was onsale. I was about to get some in three different colorways and they seem to call them but then found that online you have to buy at least 3 at a time and have to buy them in 3's so I didn't get them after all.At least, Ginny, a scarf is something that you can take with you when you have to do any waiting and you can work on it during those wait times.
I hope Meg enjoyed her Knitwaits today and found something to take there that she enjoyed working on.
I also hope that Phyl's back is feeling some better.

Hello everyone.
It is getting colder here but we will not have snow. Around Christmas time it gets down in the low 30s and people can get burst pipes if they don't watch. Today DS started putting the lights up so Devin was very happy about that because my next door neighbor and my new neighbor across the street put theirs up last weekend. He will finish the job this weekend. I did go to Knit Wits today so had a pleasant afternoon. I started another b/blanket and I haven't used this pattern before. I think it might be the pattern that Phyl was using. It is a chevron pattern though the picture looks more like waves. I am using Pound of Love. I have one skeins of blue and one of white and I will go to Michaels and get one of yellow. I am also thinking about starting another b/blanket as I like to have two so that I can switch back and forth and not get bored. I am knitting this b/blanket and if I start another one I will knit as well.
My Christmas cards have not further than the kitchen table and I need to at least get off the cards to the UK . When we had windows 7 I was able to do more on the computer than I can do with windows 10. I used to a lot of my Christmas mail on the computer like the mailing labels. My hands are getting stiffer so I don't write as well.
Phyl, the pattern I am using is a Red Heart pattern NO. LW4075 and the colors in the picture are pink, white & gray. I have only done a few rows. Hope you are not too uncomfortable and that the colder weather is not making it worse. Take care.
cj, it is nice to be indoors where it is cozy and warm and watch the snow when it first falls. That's good you don't have to go out tomorrow and can stay indoors where it is warm and dry.
Ruth, too bad you had to undo your gloves . I hate having to rip and don't if I can find a way to fix it. Your Duck and wash cloth sound very cute I will try and look at it on the web site. I think we probably all have an odd member if the family. Mine is my sister in law in Belfast. After my brother died a few years ago she never writes even though I have written and phoned and left messages but she does not respond. My niece her DD writes occasionally. I think she is offended that others in the family did not wait on her hand and foot after her DH died. She is the type who likes to be coddled, she told me that and she used to have my DB fuss over all the time because she complained all the time to get attention. I will send her another Christmas card but I don't expect to get one back. When my DH passed away I got on with my life.
Ginny, I got my cards out but that's as far as I got. I really like Pound of Love and have used it for years and my new b/blanket I am just starting is also Pound of Love. They came out with some new colors about a year or so ago and I haven't tried any of them because I am trying to use up what I have. I do need to get some yellow for my new project and I might be tempted to buy one of the new colors. I have a big full of Vanna White yarn that I forget about and I have had it for years but. I have learned not to be tempted by all the sales. There will always be another sale down the road.
Well I have been a wee bit long winded so I will call it a night. Sleep well.

Good afternoon!
Meg, you are not long winded- think we all enjoy hearing from you! So glad you got out to Knit wits, and that you started a new afghan. Blue and yellow (I know there is white in there too!) is a lovely combination of colors. Many years ago my mom made me a granny square afghan, blue, brown and yellow. To this day it is my favorite of all the afghans she made for me. How long does it take for the cards to arrive at the UK? You are much better than I am- I do not even have my Christmas cards out yet!
Ruth, well to set the record straight, the computer generated cards only lasted a few years. She does now hand write cards. Then she cannot seem to call me by my name- I am sweetie, honey or something like that. I wish I lived closer, I would pick up the yarn for you- they had what appeared to be a full range of colors... its so soft. think I will like working with it when I get around to it. Any idea what you will be working on next?
It started snowing here a bit later than anticipated. Its a pretty snow- well I think all snow is pretty- but it seems not to be snowing all that hard. I hope to get some time in crocheting in a little bit. This am I was very busy getting the house back together- and its not done yet! EVERYTHING needs to be dusted- so this is a slow process. We have plans to see friends tonight so I think I am done with cleaning/ putting the house back.
Hope CJ does not get too much snow- and that Phyl is having a comfortable day. Ginny

Meg, somehow I missed your post last night. I guess I didn't come back to check the site. It's good hearing from you always and no, you are not long winded..now me, I'm long winded.
Meg, I do hate to rip things so I try to fix whatever had gone wrong but sometimes all you can do is rip. I ripped out another thing last night.
this morning I woke up thinking that it was the 13th or 14th already and that Christmas was sneaking up on my. Then luckily I found that it is the 9th. Not that I have all that much to do. I do still have to do my cards and mail them so I think I'll do that this weekend so that I can mail them on Tuesday when we go out.I also have a couple small packages to mail that I need to wrap and pack before then.
Meg, They do have some new colors. I think denim is one of the new ones and I do have that. I don't know what the other new ones are.I think they have new colors in the dreaded Homespun and I was tempted but I'm not going to get any. Congrats on not letting temptation get you when you already have yarns. I need to do that too...just buy a color I need if that comes up but not to get all the new yarns that come along.
Ginny, yes snow is pretty but esp if you don't have to go out in it.I hope you have a good weekend and it doesn't go by too fast. And have fun with friends tonight.
CJ, yes please stay warm and safe.
Phyl, I hope your back is feeling better and better with each day and will soon not hurt at all.
Today I'm going to make yet another list of things to get done this weekend then get started on said list.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are enjoying your Saturday We did get the snow here today, it's not sticking to the roads which is good because you are all correct that people around here drive crazy when it snows I used to hate it when it snowed while I was at work and had to drive home in it. I remember one year it took me 4 hours to get home and I only lived 16 miles from work!! It's been pretty to watch the snow today and I'm happy I didn't have to go out. I enjoy reading about all your projects, even though I don't always comments, so thanks for sharing them with us I haven't done anything today but watch Christmas movies on Hallmark - I guess that's a good way to spend a snowy day. Take care everyone!

CJ, staying in and watching Christmas movies sounds like a great thing for you to do. I can see you there, enjoying some nice hot tea while you watch those movies and maybe a slice of the nice bread you put in the freezer awhile back. Was it banana bread...I've forgotten.fAs for sharing my crafting, Meg didn't know what she was getting into when she invited me to this thread. I share a lot even things that aren't crafting. In other words I just plain am a blabbermouth.
Today I spent a lot of time trying to find a folder I put patterns into last night. Computer folders that is. I can't seem to get things to move around without plugging in my mouse so I left the new folder where it was....inside of another folder...then I forgot where. I finally found it. And you all know how I search for things around the house too. Well now I've lost a cone of cotton Peaches and cream yarn. Can't find it anywhere and they don't make that color anymore so I've searched and haven't found it so I improvised and someday it will show up just like all the ohter things I've lost track of.
