At my meeting this morning, we were discussing zero point chicken breasts and someone brought up the subject of rotisserie chickens from the grocery store. I thought that if you remove the skin from the breast and eat just the chicken, it was zero points. Today's substitute leader said that in that case, chicken breast DOES have points because it was cooked with the skin on. So removing it is not enough. She says that only breasts cooked WITHOUT skin to begin with are zero points. Is she correct? I cook plenty of skinless breasts, but we also buy rotisserie chickens at least once per week and I pull off the skin and eat the breast meat. Do I have to count points for that?? Thanks in advance for the help!

The (regular, highly-respected, has-a-cult-following) leader at the meeting I attended last Sunday said skinned rotisserie chicken breast is legit zero-SP.
This could become the new "popcorn wars", no? In theory, meat cooked with skin & bone has a higher fat content than that which is cooked without. But in the grand scheme of chicken, long-term (and if a rotisserie bird is the alternative to a drive-through dining debacle), it probably won't ever matter.
But, as in all things WW, let your scale results be your guide... IMO

Thank you, diva49, for your prompt and sensible response. I really don't plan to count points for the breasts from which I have dutifully removed the skin but just wondered if the general thinking these days among members is that breasts should be zero.

I shall count rotisserie chicken breast as "chicken breast, skinless/boneless"...

I don't eat rotisserie chicken but I cook my chicken breast on the bone with skin 90% of the time because it's so much better than boneless. There is no way I'm counting for skin I remove - I think that's ridiculous.

My meeting leader said the same as your substitute leader jayell13, - that only chicken cooked without the skin qualifies as 0 points. She said that chicken cooked with the skin on that's removed before eating has points. So - another place for me to tweak the plan.

When I was working for WWers we had a staff website we could use to get information and get questions like this answered. I wonder what the "official" word on this might be.

I am in the "no count" camp.
Even if the leaders are correct, how much difference could there possibly be.
But the OFFICIAL word, for me, comes directly from the tracker. It lists...
Chicken breast, roasted, without skin & bone - 0 points Chicken breast, roasted, without skin and bone - 1 points
(Notice something there? The tracker has two entries...one with "and" one with an ampersand, and they disagree with each other)
Chicken breast, rotisserie, without skin - 0 points
So...
BZZZZZZZZ - staff gives wrong answer according to official tracker information
Also...just for the record, the tracker says:
Foster Farms chicken breast strips, grilled - 0 points

Now this is funny! Not the question that was asked, but here is my thinking: It is not like it is marinated, sauced, etc...when cooked, the skin did not "infuse" in the meat part. So how can chicken with the skin pulled off it after it was cooked not be zero points? I mean, you had to pull it off before you cooked it? And if rot. chicken were cooked with skin on, the skin was a barrier for any flavors sauces etc that were added on top of the chicken in the first place, thus blocking the entry to the meat part Yes. That is my final answer.

Thank you everyone! I think I will stand with the majority on this one and say that rotisserie breasts with the skin pulled off equals zero points!

I think many rotisserie are injected with a sodium sugar water solution and other things. Perhaps that is another reason for it not being zero.

I think we overthink a lot on WW. I grill skinless boneless chicken breasts and pull the skin off rotisserie chicken. I count them as separate but equal so if they were counted for points last week that’s what I did and if they magically became 0 this week that’s the new improved number. Stores cook them differently and where I live not all are injected. The meat is dry when the skin is pulled off.

Went to tracker and it said rotisserie chicken breast without skin = zero-points. To be exact: chicken, breast, rotisserie, without skin 0.... There is a separate entry for "with skin" that has points.

There is a separate entry for "with skin" that has points. That was the entry that I was following as well, which is why I was so surprised at my meeting this morning, when the leader said it had points. But I was too much of a chicken (no pun intended) to question her about it!
