Phyl, of course you would worry but I doubt it's a tumor. I know I don't know all he said but I'd think more like the arthritis is what is causing the narrowing in the spinal column which is what's causing the pinched nerve. Yes your friend had a horrible experience with cancer and it spread to the spine but you have no indications of any type of cancer that is know to metastasize to the spine....or anywhere else for that matter...or any indication of any kind of cancer that I know of or from what I've seen of your posts about your activities. Don't be afraid to come right out and ask the doctor if it's a possibility but it doesn't sound like it...as I said though I don't have all the info. Still you are able to get out and do your "bummin" and seem to feel great except for the back pain so I'd imagine it's just that....back pain...and I shouldn't say "just" because back pain can be extremely painful esp with spasms...however, as I mentioned you are getting out and about so you're doing great.Meanwhile you'll be on my prayer list.
Meg, sorry you lost your post. It's frustrating for you. I hate to retype too. We do miss you when you are unable to post.
It's a horribly windy day here so it feels cold in the house and no fire in the woodstove possible because of that wind so a day to spend in the "winter quarters". I'm up in the living room right now but am about to go down to said "winter quarters" in a minute or two. I was thinking of going out today but I'm not going to and will try for Tuesday. I'm just going to Walmart and it's not far and a straight shot down the highway. It's supposed to be windy on Tues too but probably won't be as bad as today. We'll see.

hi, I Am not worried about a tumor. just stated before finding out the mri if I could have one. crazy thoughts cross your mind when we are in pain. yes I am glad I am able to get out and still walk. driving home from ww I was thanking god that I could still walk .I will Be happy if they Can relive the pain. when I see someone that is far worse off I say a silent prayer for that person. than
w itoday loisk you for your prayers.
yesterday Hannah's bus was 15 minutes late. that stupid neighbor comes to the stop sign fast and barely stops. I am not sure if he was the usual time for the bus or not. did not have my watch on. think l will get a card for Hannah's driver she is so good. maybe put in a gift card from Hannah and I. don puts hannah on the bus on friday's. he did see that red car today.don thinks he knows about what duplex he lives in.

Phyl, back in the summer I had a ultra sound and one of the possibilities stated on the report from the radiologist was endometrial cancer. I can't say that I wasn't concerned. It's natural to be concerned about those things esp when, as in your case, you had a friend that passed away from cancer.
I know the bus driver would be thrilled to get a gift card from you and Hannah and it is very thoughtful and sweet of you to do that.I think that more people are good at complaining about things than are good at thanking people for their kindness and good work so it's great that you want to thank the bus driver. I'm pretty sure most people don't think of the bus drivers.
And yes, it seems like there are always people worse off than we are and many times I stop to thank the Lord that I can walk and don't even have joint problems. I have back problems but they usually are not serious and just ache rather than hurt.Even the horrendously painful flare up I had in the summer was nothing compared to what some people have to endure. All a person has to do is watch tv and see those small children, even infants with cancer at St Judes and also see the children on there that are at the Shriner's hospital. Having worked in orthopedics, I know how very painful orthopedic surgery is and these children have to suffer that.I was also an oncology nurse and can't imagine children having to go thru what my adult patients had to go thru.
And Phyl, congrats on your weight loss! I know you were concerned about the new program but I know that you realize that if you think it's not going to work for you that you can stick to what does work. As you said, cutting down and eating healthier food works. We don't really need a special program..And if we add whatever exercise we're capable of it's even better. And congrats on getting Hannah's scarf done. I still need to seam the fingerless gloves to go with my dgd's infinity scarf I made for her
And yes, I know about the crazy thoughts that can go thru a person't mind. Having been a nurse I can think of a great many horrible possibilities every time dh is sick...Used to be when the kids were sick.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today We did have some light snow here this afternoon, but they had treated the roads so it wasn't too bad when I was out this afternoon at my monthly lunch. We went to Carraba's Italian Grill. I don't really care for the food here, but I do like the Sicillian Chicken Soup and the warm bread they bring to the table is good too, so that's what I got. Take care everyone!

Good morning!
Phyl- will pray that all is well with you and that your discomfort is your hip- nothing more. Our resident nurse, Ruth is so wise- and I think we all know how our minds can go when fear sets in. Be strong in your faith- I will pray for you.
Ruth, good call to wait until the weather improves to head to Walmart. Stay warm and safe at home.
CJ-Never been to Carabas Italian grill- glad you enjoyed it and ate wisely!!
Meg, is sure does stink when you lose a post. Happens to me a lot too. Hope you slept well. Crazy night last night for me. Had to drive a sports trip there and back in the snow. Prayed a lot during my driving. God is good, watching over me and keeping the kids safe.
Heading out for a little bit with Dh. Will chat more later Ginny

Yes, Phyl congrats on the weight loss too. Slow but steady. If I can check in as a bus driver.....and offer my opinion. Most of us love what we do and accept that we are servants for the kids and families. Unless you are sure what your driver would appreciate, a general gift card, like Amazon or Visa gift card is a very thoughtful gift> For me even a $5 bill, in a card with a heartfelt note is greatly appreciated. Its not the monetary value of the gift that counts but the thought behind it. I really mean that. Another thing you could do, is take down the plate # and vehicle type and color (plus rough description of the driver) of the nut who keeps on challenging the school bus reds for Hannahs bus. You could call that in to your transportation department- they have appropriate paperwork to fill out. here in my state, the police are happy to send a warning letter out, indicating that they are being warned. Frequently those incidents of a car running or almost running school bus reds happen so quickly that the school bus driver does not have time to make sure the student (s) are safe, and check the plate number of the car. Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying your weekend Ginny - I'm glad you had a safe trip in the snow, I'm sure you were relieved to get back home. Ruth, Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting today. It was a nice sunny day here, temps in the 40s, so a nice change over the cold, snowy day yesterday. I made a small batch of Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies from a recipe I found on the Internet. It's supposed to make only 2 large cookies, but I divided the dough into 6 parts and made 6 cookies. It was really easy to make and they tasted good. Here's a link to the recipe, in case any of you are interested: www.inkatrinaskitchen.com/double-chocolate-chip-cookies-for-two/Take care everyone!

We don't have one of those restaurants here and I've never been to one anywhere else. I've seen commercials and don't think I would care for their food either and it looks expensive for that type restaurant.I bet you had an enjoyable time with your friends though and the soup you mentioned does sound good.
Ginny, I was praying for safe travel for you also and I'm glad to hear you're safely back home.
If I suddenly don't post here it's because I'm having computer problems. My laptop power cord is either messed up or it's the socket it goes into that's not working right. After jiggling it around awhile last night we were finally able to get it to charge but I don't know how long we're going to be able to do that. Then I tried my tablet which I rarely use, plugged it in to charge and got a message that said "plugged in not charging".Finally used my cell phone power cord for that and it did charge too but who knows how long that's going to work. So Monday I get to call and find out if this insurance thing I was told covers all my tv components but also all my computers, tablets, etc, really does cover and what they'll do if it does cover them. I'd just go ahead and buy a new cord for the laptop but, as I said, I don't know if it's the cord or the socket.
I haven't been doing a lot of crocheting. I still have those three things to put the finishing touches on. I did make three double thick potholders..I love how you can make the double without having to make two and sew together.
Every year for about the last five years a friend that lives back in NYS sends us a large box of homemade cookies, candy, and a small homemade loaf of some kind. It costs her over $20 to send it. Sometimes she sends one at Easter too. I don't know how to tell her to not send anymore. A lot of the things arrive with the containers inside broken open, some we can't eat because of food intolerance issues, and some we just don't like. I hate to see her waste her money but don't know how to tell her not to send without hurting her feelings. A large box arrived today from her.I used to work with this woman. She's a very kind person. She's a person that I used to hear horror stories about as to how mean she was. When I found I was going to have to work with her I was not happy. Well after I did start working with her I found out the truth and we became very good friends.
Haven't got any crafting done yet today because I've been busy with other things. I actually started this message several hours ago then dh came up and we started various chores.
I hope you've all had a good day and will have a good evening. It's snowing here now...Earlier was going back and forth between rain and snow.
Our mailman brought our boxes to our house today. He is not obligated to do that but he's a nice guy so sometimes he does that and at this time of the year I'm sure those bins at the mailbox bank are filled and if you have to go to the postoffice to ick them up it's clear on the other side of town so I really appreciate his going the extra mile

My page was still on the reply I had started hours ago so didn't see Ginny or CJ's messages. Ginny, I was thinking of a gift card for my mailman. I heard they can't take any gift value of which is over $20. I'm not sure if that pertains to ours or not as he is an independent contractor of the PO doing a rural route. I often wondered what kind of gift card to get him. One year we gave him a silver coin. Depending on silver's spot price they can be over $20 but at that time silver was down.Otherwise I would have no clue.
CJ I love choc chip cookies so I'm going to check out that site and try to make them with GF flour. I've heard that it works well for cookies so we'll see. I hate to make a while batch just for me. Dh doesn't care for choc chip.Thank you for posting the link.
Hello also to Meg and Phyl.

Hello everyone, I did read all your posts last night but I was tired and just didn't feel like responding. But I do enjoy keeping up with you all. I went to Knit Wits yesterday and had a fun afternoon. I worked on my b/blanket. which I will do after I get off the computer. It is very windy here today. I am sure there will be some trees down. Of course the people in S Ca. also have the high winds which only makes the fire situation there worse. Please keep these folk in your thoughts and prayers. I don't live anywhere near the fires.
Phyl, congratulations on your weight loss. Losing slowly is not a bad thing because you are not gaining and will keep it off. I think that is a great idea to give the bus driver a gift certificate I am sure she will appreciate it. I have to remember to gift the guy who services my pool. Other than that I don't have anyone else to thank for their service. I always give the folk who take care of DD a good tip every year. The other parents don't think to do that of course 2 of the residents don't have any family.
Ruth you are right that most people do not think of the bus driver. Now I wish I could go back and thank the drivers who picked DD up and also DGD when she first started school. I had some very good bus drivers.
cj, I am glad the snow was not too bad and you were able to get out and enjoy lunch with friends. I am glad you found something on the menu that you enjoyed Chocolate chip cookies sounds goon and with a recipe for two you wont do much damage.
Ginny, I am glad you were able to stay safe on the roads when you drove the students on the sports trip. Having worked for years with children myself I understand having to be responsible for their safety. I am sure you are looking forward to the Christmas break.
Well I am off to knit and listen to an audio book. have a good evening and keep warm.

Good evening!
Meg, its great to hear from you when you can check in Sometimes I have to do the same thing, just read the posts and get back to responses the nest day. I have been praying for those impacted by the fires in Calirfornia, what a sadl and scarey situation. I hope that it is over soon so that the residents can begin rebuilding their lives. For some, I am sure things will never be the same. Thanks for reassuring us that youare not in a danger area.
Ruth, I give our mailman$20 every year- he is a pleasant man and overall does a great job. I well know that the money is appreciated, but stick with what I said , a note of heartfelt thanks means SO very much, especially in a job like being a postal worker where exposure to all kinds of weather is the norm. I appreciate those visa gift cards- essentially cash. Perhaps that would work for your mailman. What a sweetheart that woman is making all those home made foods for you! But gee, I can imagine it must stink not being able to enjoy much of it, for one reason or another. She means so well.....its nice being remembered like that. Sounds like you are super busy crocheting! You accomplish so much- its impressive.
CJ- the cookies sound really good. Glad you got to enjoy them and will be able to enjoy them for another day or so. Good job with portion control.
Got a few more Christmas cards done. Two are difficult cards to write, the one to my MIL’s sister- who is a dear woman. (She got all the good personality traits, my MIL none of them). That was a tough card to write as I know Dh’s aunt misses MIL-I do not miss her a bit because she was so very difficult to be around. OF course I could not say that in a card!
Hope everyone has a good night Ginny

Meg, it's great to see you. I'm glad you had a good time at Knitwits yesterday and esp glad you're not in the fire area.
Ginny, Have you seen the poem "My first Christmas in Heaven"?
Oh and the other thing about me not being able to access my laptop (if that happens) is that I don't remember my password for here in order to sign in one my tablet or dh's computer.Wonder how I could get that.
Ok I have to stop procrastinating and get those three Christmas crochet things done. I could get a lot more done if I didn't waste so much time.
The bad thing about our mailman is that since the mailboxes are at the end of the street we usually never see him. All I can do is leave his Christmas tip or gift in the mailbox and hope that he's the one that gets it and it's not someone filling in for him the day I put it in there.I should have had it ready and I could have given it to him today.

just very short post and then I am going back to knit. I am about 1/2 way with my b/blanket. My DH worked at the P.O. for 20 years after he retired from the USAF. He was not a mail man he worked in the main P.O, It was my understanding that they not accept tips. but that could have changed. I am sure none of them would turn down a gift at Christmas time. Have a good evening.

DONE!! I got all three items done. Now all I have is wrapping to do then on Christmas Eve during the day I'll make some kind of dessert to take over to dd's house.
Gotta decide now what to work on next. There's the fingerless gloves I started for Indy dgd when she was here and then there's the sweater I want to make to replace the one that turned out too large for the dgd for which it was intended due to using a thicker yarn.I have the yarn for it so will get started with both those things. For the rest of tonight I'm going to make another of those potholders. I got one completed last night (that was over half done already) after fiddling with the computers and then another entire one.they're something you can just sit and work on without thinking about it too much and are useful and make good "thinking of you" gifts. The one I finished that was partially done is another that dh likes so he's keeping that one.

Good morning!
Meg, I think things might not have changed- you are probably not supposed to give gifts to a postal worker- but I do that anyway. Ruth mentioned a difficulty regarding the right carrier getting the gift, I have the same issue here-and want to make sure that our regular carrier gets the gift. Its amazing that you are almost half way through the baby blanket that you just began. I am about 1/5th of the way through the one for my DGD. you are making great progress on that an ought to be ready to start another project soon. Great way to work through your yarn stash!
Ruth- you amaze me also - I am so very happy for you that you got the projects done that you wanted to and can now move on to your next project. It will be nice wrapping those items too....knowing all the work and time put into making them. Your family is blessed to have you!
I just looked up the My FIrst CHristmas in Heaven poem. Its a sweet poem- and I can easily see how it could be a comfort to someone who is grieving around the holidays. I lost my dad many years ago on December 16 and know well what that is like. My MIL was a difficult woman- for a few years I thought I could learn to love her or at least get along with her. That was not to be the case as her own personality glitches made it so I was just happy to stay out of her way and not anger her. I do not miss her.
I did write the one “difficult” Christmas card, to my MILs sister, who I do love dearly. Managed to write in such a way that my husbands aunt will be comforted, knowing that my oldest DD and my niece will carry on with MIL’s recipes, and wrote about the family get together in general. Think I did an ok job of writing something nice without being disingenuous or harsh.
Gotta write another card. Probably the last of my tough ones. Have a good day Ginny
