TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C76D3, 8 water, 26 points + 6 unplanned points on page 2, all ghgs except only 2 dairy and almost no whole grains, 6549 fitbit steps, G11 Y1 R1 January
The six unplanned points were a pretzel, a slice of SF angelfood cake and a spearmint leaf. The day is therefore categorized as yellow
I have a fitbit question – Someone I know wears a wrist fitbit, I have a zip that I wear on my waste. We played table tennis together and did a line dancing class together. I actually do more in the way of line dancing steps since I first demonstrate each dance. Anyway, for both activities, hers recorded double the steps than mine did. Is there an explanation? I called fitbit customer service but they didn’t seem to have a clue – also spoke in an accent I could hardly understand.
Kathy – Congrats for not filling up the points. I, on the other hand, had 5 points left on Thursday and did fill them up with a heated SF Vitalicious muffin top and 1/3 cup Edy’s no sugar added vanilla bean ice cream. For me, the unused points fill my brain, so it’s best to just use them. Even 26 is below my allowable 30. I don’t consider the extra 4 as coming to me. As for the reset, let’s say it was more like search and graze rather than search and destroy, but binge worthy nonetheless <g>.
Jan – Yes, maintenance rather than weight loss. I was willing to accept maintenance until the ounces started increasing beyond that, which in addition to the binge behavior led to the decision to go back to what’s worked in the past. Now if I could just conquer the binging and all or nothing mentality, I’d be home free. The idea of writing down every out-of-the-box morsel may be the way. Only time will tell.
Beth – I thought you belonged to the Y. Isn’t that where you did all the swimming? I got an email from United Healthcare that senior insureds can get Y membership at half price. I went over to take a look but there wasn’t a whole lot different from our clubhouse gym so it didn’t make sense even at the reduced price.
Lori – So glad you had a good week. I couldn’t agree more. We just have to do what seems to work best for each of us – and as you say, what works varies from time to time. All we can do is to keep punching.
Cindy – You’re doing just great with tracking and treadmill. At least your DH seems to have a diagnosis. Hopefully, if the MRI confirms the diagnosis, they can take care of the rotator cuff and he (and you) can get on with your lives. It’s always something, isn’t it?

Morning, BFF's! I'll BBL to catch up. Just wanted to let you know I'm fine. It was a very hectic week. DH was sick on Thursday night and was down for the count all day yesterday. I worked from home so I could keep an eye on him. He's ok, now. Probably food poisoning. This morning, our "handy man" is coming to repair the washer and dryer, so I have to get ready. TTYL

Good morning! I had a great day of eating, until about 9:30. Ugh. It's a new day, blah blah blah. Our main bathroom was gutted last night, and having my home in disarray is pretty stressful for me. Hopefully it will be finished in schedule, tomorrow night. It's certainly time, it's the original bathroom from the 1970's. We updated the floor and vanity, but the tub and shower are original.
Nancy, no clue about your Fitbit. It seems like I remember hearing that the clip on ones don't accurately track side steps.
Cindy, a rotator cuff tear is very painful. I hope you get answers and a solution soon.
Edesia, I hope he can repair your washer/dryer. It seems they make them disposable now; we've never had a washer that could be fixed.

C26. D14. OP. Tracking everything. 73 APs and average of 32 points per day = 3.6 pounds lost.
We harvested about 5 gallons of microgreens from a greenhouse my daughter does her science projects in. I've been eating microgreens for 3 meals and a snack a day for 8 days. I swear these organic greens are a tonic. I feel fantastic and the weight is just shedding off. There is no substitute for this quality of greens in Minnesota, so when they are gone they are gone. And they'll be gone tomorrow. Sigh.
Nancy - Is your maintenance daily WW points 30? My weight loss points are 30 per day and I weigh, gulp, 60 pounds more than you. I'm glad we have a way to talk about days that are between binge and letter perfect - i.e the yellow day. Also, I've learned I cannot leave unallocated points in my daily plan. Otherwise, I eat something and say "that's for those 3 extra points" and do that about 4 times and end up eating 12!
Jan- sorry that DS issues are sticking around. I've had to tell myself a few times this week "if eating/food didn't cause this problem, then eating/food is not going to solve it." That self talk distracted me long enough to avoid overeating.
EDESIA - Hope that DH is better and you get a long weekend. I do.
Lori- Yes on learning new ways and being flexible in using them. That is one of the great things about this board- we explore different ideas together and bring them into our lives. Beck, W30, IE, and more!
Cindy- keep up the treadmill and healthy eating! Hope that DH gets that fixed.
Beth- great job on the tracking and putting those insights to work for you. Tracking and exercise have always been the foundations of a healthy weight for me.
Louise? Hope you are doing well.
Jackie and all who follow have a great day!
Kathy

Yesterday all tracked...even the unplanned bits. Had a nice swim at the Y last night.
Food prep, shopping for new kitchen light and pickleball on the schedule for today. Will be home tonight in time to watch the 2nd half of the patriots game with DH.

Hi Girlfriends! C1D14 Treadmill D13 Lost 7.5 lbs. this week. Stayed on the move all week, plus treadmill. Cleaned out dresser drawers, bathroom, & kitchen. I think the more one has to lose, the better they lose, maybe. Have 108 lbs to lose to be at my goal. Have on my spread sheet days until June 11, which is our anniversary, also including the day DGS graduates HS on May 19. When he graduates from army boot camp that is when I want to be at my ideal weight, so I can do a lot of walking with DGS and DS. I know that is not the right way according to ww but am comfortable with what I'm doing right now. My daily points are around 24 & mindset does not feel deprived. That includes lots of greens, oatmeal, fruit, eggs. Off to treadmill. Edesia, hope your husband is feeling better. Love ya'll, Cindy

Nancy - I understand if you are trying to lose weight, needing to do something differently. I haven't figured out what to do about that. I do hope you would consider eating more IE-ish for a couple of weeks that includes your Columbus weekend, like the week before and after, just to see if that makes a difference. About the Fitbit, there could be a few reasons. I think it is responding to movement, so someone who might be bouncing a bit more might might register more "steps". It is also possible someone is actually taking more steps to cover the same distance. When DH and I would walk together, our distances were the same, but I always had more steps because he has a much longer stride.
Kathy - The micro greens sound wonderful. There was part of a This American Life I was listening to today and this guy figured out a way to do "vertical" farming in a building by growing greens on cloth and spraying the roots with nutrients so no soil is used. He is doing this in an old warehouse in Newark, NJ. It was brilliant. Yes, I do have a long weekend. It makes such a huge difference to be able to spread out what I have to do and what I want to do over three days. Hope you enjoy yours!
Jan - I hope your bathroom is all done by tomorrow, too. I'm testing the washer and dryer right now. This guy can fix anything. He said he'd come back next week if it's not back to 100%.
Cindy - It's great that you are working things out with your sister. I hope they figure out DH's shoulder pain. A friend of mine fell on some ice recently, tore his rotator cuff, and is now recovering from surgery.
Beth - When you posted about your food "thing", I thought about the work changes, too. Glad the tracking is helping. It's kind of like, "Ok, I'm ready to focus on this now."
Lori - I agree that you have to figure out what works for you at that time, and when it stops working, move on to something else. It's good to have a number of options to go to.
Louise - Hope your back is feeling better.
