Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to our Ginny, happy birthday to you.
I was waiting for you to come in to tell you happy birthday but that was dumb...should have said it before so it would already be here. yes Dec 23 probably always will be a busy day. In the future you'll have even more grands to shop and wrap for. My birthday isn't really my day either. Not that I'm busy preparing for a holiday but because I don't usually do anything at all. It's just another day.
CJ, all your food sounds great. One time dh and I bought some oyster crackers and I intended to spice them up but never got to it. Dill and ranch sound like a great choice.

Ginny, I hope you are having a Very Happy Birthday and best Wished for many more. I glad you were able to go to lunch with your DH and also your DH, DS & DD and also visit DD#2. sounds like a very nice way to spend your B/day. I am making good headway on my b/blanket and it is passed the 1/2 point. I hope you will have some quiet time this evening to put your feet up and do some crocheting. That's what I hope to do.
Ruth, I hope you were able to correct the mistake without ripping too much. Did you get all your baking done? My next door neighbor brought over a tray of some of her home baked goodies. I do not do much baking any more so we will enjoy the treat.
cj, what a temptation all those delicious brownies. Good idea to take them to share with your family.
Where is Phyl? hope all is well .
Gotta go and finish what I was doing and hope I can have some quiet time. Have a good evening.

Good morning and a happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate.
Well, last night I wrapped some, still have some wrapping to do, but itβs a quiet day. Will attend church this am for the normal Sunday service, then again Christmas Eve service this evening. Ds is working this evening and Dd#2 is attending church this evening with her Bf,
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes !!!!ββ
Meg, were you able to get some quiet time in? I sure hope so!
Ruth, I agree with you, its probably the blessing of being a woman with a family that prevents birthdays from being a day to myself. Guess its a blessing to have so much to be thankful for...
I too wonder how Phyl is doing, but she is usually very busy. Hope she is ok and can check in today. I know her surgical date is not too far off.
CJ enjoy your party today!!!

Happy Christmas Eve to all. Ginny, I hope your birthday was great. Yes we are very blessed to have family that loves us and that we love. You just can't ask for more than that. I'm never able to attend evening programs or services due to not being able to see well enough to drive safely.
It's a quiet day here. Dh and I have been sitting in our dining room watching the antelope "playing" in the very large open foothills of the mountain behind us. Thy don't come around so much anymore due to all the building going on in their path. No bulding right here but there's a lot that has blocked their travel route.
Dh and I will probably exchange our kinda joke gifts to one another today. Just little things that we like.
Well I ripped out both gloves completely and will redo them when I'm in better light. They're made with almost a navy blue and a claret color and its hard to see the dark blue when theres not really good lighting. I'm going to work on a different pair today.I need to get busy and do more crocheting to try to use up all this yarn.
Phyl is ok. I saw that she had posted on a couple threads on over 60's. Didn't read them but it's a good sign that I saw her name as having posted.I think she posts on a lot of threads so probably esp at Christmas can't get to them all.
CJ, I don't care much for brownies or anything peanut butter so either of those things wouldn't be a temptation to me and I'd take it to family but there are many, many things that would be a temptation.
Meg, I bet Devin is even more excited today awaiting his gifts. Does he open them on Christmas morning or Eve?
Well have a great Christmas Eve everyone and remember "the reason for the season

Happy Christmas Eve Ruth, Ginny, cj & Phyl, It has been a quiet day here as DGD and Devin are off visiting someone. They will be back later today They will be here to open gifts tomorrow morning and then they will take off again. I am sure Devin will come home with gifts tonight , then more tomorrow morning and again where he is going tomorrow afternoon. He really gets too much stuff, I am giving him money that he can save for when he goes somewhere special.
Janet just arrived and she will go back to her care home this evening. I am just not up to having her home over night anymore. I used to have her home for 2 days for Thanksgiving & Christmas. The people who run her care home like to have their family celebration on Christmas Eve and it is better for Janet to be here so that they can enjoy their family. Also Janet does not do well when there are too many people around. So tomorrow it looks like I will have a very quiet day and I can read and knit all I want.
Ginny, going to Christmas Eve services is a lovely way to start Christmas off. I haven't been able to attend the Christmas Eve services for a long time because Janet is usually here. We used to go as a family when Janet was younger. I am afraid that now she might be disruptive and I can't manage her very well any more.
Ruth, what fun to watch the Reindeer playing. Do you snow? that would make it even better. I find it difficult to work with dark colored yarns so I hope you can find colors that will work for you.
cj, I hope you have a wonderful time at the party.
I will try and work on my baby blanket this evening. You all have a good evening.

Hello Crafters - Hope you have all enjoyed your Christmas Eve
Ginny - I'm glad to year you had a good birthday, I'm sure you're used to it being busy each year. Hope you've enjoyed your church services, I'm sure they are beautiful this time of year.
Ruth - How wonderful it must be to watch antelope from your home, I'm glad there are still some for you to see. Hope you and your husband enjoy opening your gifts today.
Meg - I hope you have a good time with you DD today. I'm having a quiet day tomorrow too.
Phyl - I'm glad you have gotten your wrapping done and hope you enjoy your church service.
I had a nice time at the family party. I did get home after dark, but not too late and made it home safely. I don't like driving at night anymore, I worry about either breaking down or having an accident. The lights on the cars coming toward me and behind me bother me.
I made another two cakes this morning (Apple Spice and Lemon Dump) and some Sausage Con Queso Dip and took those with the Fudge, Oyster Crackers and Pound Cake to the party today. The younger ones (they are 18 and 21 now) enjoyed the Sausage Dip and everyone liked the Apple Spice Cake and Fudge. There was a lot of great food and I enjoyed eating foods that we only have once a year. It was nice to spend time with my nieces and their family too.
Tomorrow I'll stay home and I'm glad because it's supposed to be very cold and windy.
Take care everyone!

Good evening and Happy Christmas Eve!
Meg, just the other day you mentioned that you really wanted a day to just stay home and knit/crochet. Sounds like tomorrow might just be that day for you...I bet that as nice as it was having Janet home, it will be nice to have a day of rest tomorrow. Sounds like you will get at least a couple of hours to yourself when Devin and DGD are out tomorrow. There are usually some lovely church services on TV on Christmas Day- or even services on the internet. Perhaps you can watch or listen to one of them being that you were unable to get out for services.
Phyl- glad you checked in this evening! ITs frustrating when several specialities are involved in your care like that- kind of hard to know who is in control and who is not. I am of the opinion that if you had a test - as in an MRI- the doctor owes it to you to provide the results to you. We are very happy for you too that you lowered your A1C and lost some weight! Hope you are blessed by the mass this evening....as I am sure you will be. To put our tree up I had to move lots of stuff, and know all about that garage sale feeling....
CJ- so glad you enjoyed your family party! You did a boatload of cooking- definitely made your share of the goodies. Nice that your family appreciated all the hard work you put into making so many different foods.
Ruth - must have been fun watching the antelope playing! Do you and Dh open your gag gifts tonight or tomorrow?
Ds had to work, Dd#1 and her family went to their church (45 minute drive from me), Dd #2 is at a party with her Bf and will attend church with him this evening too. I got to my churchs Christmas Eve service, always a lovely service and a joy to be there. It was great to be in the Lords house with friends and fellow believers. Think all my wrapping is done. Not sure how tomorrow will go- we are supposed to go to Ddβs House in the am- but we are also supposed to bet 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight. Hope that Dd and DS get home ok later on.
Of course with all the craziness of today and attending church twice today, I have had not a moment to crochet. Perhaps I will be able to do that once I get off the computer
Have a blessed evening all G

PHyl, it's good to hear that you're ok and that you got the situation with the various doctors all straightened out. I wish you well on results of the ultra sound and will be praying.Congrats on keeping control of your A1c and losing weight. Some people don't realize how much damage high blood sugar can do to your organs and the rest of your body.
CJ, I'm glad you had a good time at the party. The food you made sounds really good. The lemon dump cake sounds especially good to me. I love lemon desserts. CAn you share the recipe or directions when you get a chance? I'm glad you got home safely too. I worry that if I drive at night I make be the cause of an accident and hurt others.
Meg, it does sound like Devin has and gets a little too much but I think most kids do these days.I hope you and Janet have an enjoyable visit. Yes it would be very difficult to take a disabled adult to church.
Ginny, It's great that you got to go to church twice today. I hope the kids are home safely and you all can enjoy the rest of the evening together. I've stopped and prayed that they both have a safe trip home.I do hope you don't get all that snow so that you can be with your dd and grandchildren for Christmas morning
After watching the antelope dh and I cooked. We made the "Christmas morning" casserole for him, gluten free bread pudding for me, and a carrot cake. Dh cooked smoked sausage for our lunch and that was tasty. I went to my mailbox. I didn't realize how cold it was but it was about 17 degrees but windy so down by the mailbox is was especially cold while I was trying to get mail out of the box and then package from the package box. Got several Christmas cards. I sometimes forget just how blessed I am. One of the Cards was from my roomate from Nursing school. Her husband has prostate cancer and was treated for that but now his PSA is going back up so oncology will decide what to do if anything, next, and now has found out he has Parkinson's disease. She has MS and bad arthritis which she said both care her a huge problem all this past year. She also has high blood pressure. She's always been thin so hbp is not because of overweight. I also got a very nice letter from a friend that I correspond with in snail mail. The others all wrote notes in the cards which were all very nice to read. Dh and I decided to wait on the gifts till tomorrow. We usually do them on Christmas day but this year he actually asked me a couple days ago if I wanted to open mine now
I do hope you all have a great evening and a very wonderful Christmas.
Oh and Meg, yes we have snow left over from yesterday's snowfull. That's about the only time the antelope come around now is when there is snow on the ground.
