Woke up to check that both DD and DS had made it home ( thanks for your prayers, Ruth!_ indeed its snowing here right now, and unfortunately Ds has to go to work in the am. I am thankful that both cars are in the driveway...a gift that they arrived home safely.
Of course will check in later on after I go back to bed and get some more sleep.

Good morning! At least now I am up after getting some sleep. Ds is off on his way to work.(I have not seen him but his car is gone). It looks like they called off the snow- we got what appears to be 3 inches but its no longer snowing.
Ruth, I must say you do an amazing job of reading our posts and making sense out of them. Lots of times I write stuff that is perhaps not as clear as I can be and you still somehow make sense out of it all. Indeed, we open Christmas cards, not knowing what we will see when we do. Think I had mentioned a friend of ours, who usually sends his cards very early....well his card did arrive only a few days ago- and this year he lost his mom. While it was good to learn that he is ok, we were sad to hear that his mom had passed. She was a dear and lively woman. I am sure that whenever you and Dh exchange gifts it will be the right time! Dh and I elected not to get too much for each other this year. This time of year involves so much running around anyway- I always feel guilty making him go out in the cold to shop for me. (He is not a big fan of ordering online but will have me do that if he needs something) So we only have a small amount for each other.
We are heading over to Dd’s sometime this am to share Christmas morning with the grandkids. Its their first Christmas in their new home. Of course, grandma and grandpa have a few things for them to open. Ha ha ha
Merry Christmas Ginny

Good morning and Merry Christmas to all you dear crafting ladies.
Ginny, I had years of making sense of doctor's handwriting and what it meant and now I speak auto correct..hahahaha It's weird how the auto correct decides what you meant to say and, of course, always gets it wrong. I turned mine off on my tablet and laptop but I'm always having to interpret dd and ddil's messages
Yes I bet you do have some nice things for the grandchildren and what fun to be with little ones on Christmas morning. I do remember when my oldest grandchildren were small and how excited they were. Well I do remember when my own kids were small too for that matter. The only small children here in town in my family are too small right now. ONe year soon I'll have to go to ds' home for Christmas although since I no longer like to travel I guess I'll have to be "beamed up" to there.
Ginny, I did pray a prayer of thanks when I read that your children got home safely and I'm happy there is not all that much snow. They kept wavering on the forecast for here but it's now 6 degrees which will be the high for the day
I woke up this morning wondering what happened to an order I put in. I realized I hadn't received it yet. So I went to my trusty computer and looked it up and there sat everything in my "cart". Never did finalize the order. Luckily nothing was intended as a Christmas present
So I do hope you all have a blessed and enjoyable day.

Hey Ruth! Hope your Christmas is going well- stay warm in that 6 degree weather. Many thanks for praying for my children. I admit to not sleeping well at all last night- hoping and praying that they were ok.
We went to Dd #1’s house, had a hoot with the DG kids and are now home. They are going up to DSIL’s family later on today. Its 30 degrees here now, and dropping. Heading in for some colder weather..
So a question for you ladies. I found some adorable ornament kits on Hersheners - how long can I wait to order them? In other words, when will they run a Good after Christmas sale? I can see what DD is facing, and at the same time of my life, I had all soft, handmade ornaments on the bottom half of our tree. That way the kids were never a problem around the tree. I have found some similar ornaments on Hershnerrs and would love to make them for DD for next year. A good sale would seal the deal.
Wishing each of you a most blessed day G

I got an email from them today about a sale...I'll go look.

The Herrschner site says they have hundreds of items on sale but I didn't click on any to see what the prices are. I was trying to email you but my email, when I hit "reply" or "new" all I get is a blank screen so will email later when it works again
ON Dec 13th I mailed out three packages, one to my sister, one to a friend, and the other to the grandchildren in In. Well I checked tracking yesterday and it said my sister's was deliverd on the 16th, friend's delivered on the 21st, and dgc's on the 20th. I heard from my friend...she was surprised and very thankful for the gift. Heard today from ddil that their package arrived, was wondering why my sister hadn't said anything so I asked her today if she got it...even though tracking said it was delivered to her mailbox on the 16th, she never received it.I imagine it was either delived to the wrong address or someone stole it. She lives in not the best section of Bufflo NY...not the worst but no areas in the city are great. I would think that if stolen the thief thought it was something valuable because it was in a small bubble pack and in a small box so they may have thought it was jewelry. They must have been disappointed to find it wasn't. IN all the years of sending packages to various people and to various places, I've never had one missing before.

Happy Christmas Ginny, cj, Phyl and Ruth. I hope you are enjoying the day with your family and friends.
After DGD her bf and Devin arrived home yesterday we had a nice family dinner which included DD & DS. Devin was allowed to open one gift before he went to bed. DD went back to her care home with all her presents. we had a very nice evening. Santa Claus paid us a visit after Devin went to bed. We took some pictures to let Devin see that he was actually here. Devin got me up at 7 30 a.m. this morning so that he could open all his presents. I went back to bed because I was tired and when I got up they had taken off again and more presents. Now the house is quiet , just DS and I. I have been playing some Christmas music. I have a favorite CD by the Carpenters which I play every year. I think I am now going to have my quiet time.
Ginny, I am glad your DS & DD arrived home safely it is not fun driving when the road conditions are not good. I hope you have a great time with your DG children. Kids do liven things up at Christmas when they open up their gifts.
Ruth, I am glad you found your missing order. Good that it wasn't something for Christmas. I hope you and your DH have a cozy day and can keep warm. The temp. here is about 61. I can't imagine what it would be like at 6. I suppose at one time I lived somewhere where the temp. was that low, probably Iowa or Germany.
To all who join us today I pray you will enjoy the Peace and Joy of Christmas.

Merry Christmas Crafters - I hope you have all had a wonderful day!
Ginny - I bet it was fun seeing the grandkids open and play with their gifts. Christmas is so much more fun with little children to share it with. I'm glad the snow wasn't too bad, hope you had safe travels today.
Meg - I'm glad you had a nice dinner yesterday and it sounds like everyone enjoyed their presents. I love the Carpenters, their music is so enjoyable to listen too.
Phyl - Hope you are feeling well and enjoyed your Christmas. Ruth - That's some cold weather you are having. I hope and you and your husband enjoyed opening your gifts.
Lemon Dump Cake recipe - There are only three ingredients - a box of Yellow Cake Mix, a can of Lemon Pie Filling (like Lucky Leaf or Duncan Hines), a stick of softened butter (I used margarine which also works). Here's how I make this:
1. Using a pastry blender or even your hands, mix together the cake mix and the butter until it is crumbly.
2. Pour the lemon pie filling in the bottom of a 13x9 pan
3. Pour the crumb mixture over the pie filling (I make sure to spread it up to the edges of the pan and cover all the pie filling
4. Bake at 350 degrees until the crumb mixture turns golden
There are lots of recipes for Dump Cakes out there. A lot of them just slice up the butter into "pat" sizes and puts the filling in the pan, covers with the cake mix, and then lays the slices of butter over the cake mix. I found that this left lots of spots of dry cake mix so I started mixing my cake mix and butter together first and then spreading it over the pie filling. I like the texture better.
I've also made this in a 8x8 pan, using all the pie filling, but only half of the cake mix crumb mixture.
I also like to make this recipe with Blueberry Pie Filling and White Cake Mix. Some people make this with Yellow Cake mix, crushed pineapple and cherries. There are lots of variations, just search for Dump Cake recipes.
I had a nice quiet day today. I've been eating a bunch of the baked goods I had leftover. I need to get them out of the house. I did bake one thing today - Gingerbread. I love to make that at Christmas each year. So I'll enjoy eating that for a few days. '
It was cold and windy here today. The wind woke me up at 6:00 A.M. and I never could get back to sleep so I just got up at 7:00 A.M. I'm feeling tired tonight.
Take care everyone!

cj, many thanks for the Dump Cake recipe. I used to make it years ago and had forgotten about it. Good idea to crumble the cake mix and other dry ingredients with the margarine. It is easy to make and I will have to get busy and make one, I think I have a yellow cake mix. I will make a copy of the recipe.
I am still listening to the Carpenters and I have the house pretty much to myself so I can listen to what I want. DS is in his room watching TV and all is well. I hope you are having a wonderful day and that you stay where it is warm.

MERRY CHRISDTYMAS EVERYBODY,
WE HAD A VERY NICE CHRISTMAS. both kids and their gangs were here. dsil cooked the bacon, margie made egg bake, jeana brung fruit, and don made pancakes.
ruth call your cc company and tell them you will not pay for it because your sister did not get the package even though they say it was delivered. there are people who will keep a package even if the usps, fedex and p.o. go back to get it. our dgs in Kentucky uncle In n.y.sent him a bday preasent a few years ago not knowing their address had change. the people would not give it back.
about 5 years ago I ordered 3 sweatshirts from bonworth.com. after 3 weeks I called the cc company mI would not pay for this. then called bonworth. great customer service. lost of calls between the p.o. and fedex. finally got the right 800 number and called fx. they said they would do a investagtion. they called the next morning and said it was but the p.o and fedex did not know where. now tell me how with tracking numbers they could not know where? the next street over there is a duplex with the same number as our on the house. also that street name starts wit a c. I hope who ever got The shirts fit and they enjoyed them . also hope they have a good reason when they face our lord.phyl

I have yellow cake mix but no cans of lemon pie filling. I wonder if it would work with packaged lemon pie filling made ahead? It sounds fanatastic. I've made cherry dump cake but not in a long time. If I remember correctly that recipe said to melt the butter and pour it all over the top. I like your way better.Bright and early tomorrow just pack up all the baked goods and put them into the freezer in small batches so that when you're tempted you can get one out and eat only that one.
PHyl, I bought my sister's gift and sent it from here so there aren't really any options. I could have the post office do a find package thing but I dont think they look very hard and even if they did, it's as you said, the people probably wouldn't give it back because they wouldn't want to admit they opened something that didn't belong to them. And if you order online and the order doesn't arrive some companies will replace the item or they will refund your money. Other companies tell you that after it's shipped they have no responsibility for it and won't do anything for you. They tell you it's a post office problem and you should have got insurance. So when you find a good company like the one you mentioned it's good to keep dealing with them.
Meg, I like the Carpenters too. I used to have them on cassette tape but don't know if I still do. I got rid of a lot of cassettes a few years ago. I still have cassette players but I don't listen to music much. All Devin's gifts should keep him occupied for awhile.I'm glad you're having a nice quiet relaxing day.
Phyl it sounds like you had a very delicious breakfast or brunch. Now that's my kind of meal.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm sure this recipe would work with the pudding and pie filling cooked first and cooled. Hope your email gets fixed soon. Phyl - Sounds like you had a nice Christmas and a good breakfast. Meg - Glad I could remind you of a good recipe. Ginny - Hope you are enjoying time with your family and that you didn't get too much snow. It's very cold here and supposed to be that way all week. It was pretty and sunny today though. Take care everyone!

Happy Boxing Day, this is a British holiday when the rich would give gifts to their servants, I think that's what it means. For families like mine it was the day we ate the left over's from Christmas day, and we would visit friends and family or whatever We didn't rush to go shopping it was just a day to relax. Of course that could have changed.
I slept late this morning but the phone woke me up and a nurse informed me that they had a cancellation and they would like me to have my eye surgery tomorrow so of course I accepted I really want to have the cataract removed and the change suits me fine because DS is not working this week so he can take me and bring me home.
Devin is happy with all the toys and gadgets he got but he wanted me to take him to the store to buy something else. Of course I said no because he has plenty to keep him busy. DS has taken him out so that he can learn how to use the new scooter he got. It has a motor and it is heavy. When I was his age I was happy with less than 1/2 of what he got. Of course there was a war and we were lucky if we got anything. Rationing lasted for several years after the war ended.
cj, I remember making Dump cake and using Pumpkin. Last night I looked up Dump Cake on line and you can use all sorts of fruit . I am so glad you reminded me about Dump Cake because it is so good and easy to make.
Phyl, I am so glad you had a very nice Christmas. Christmas ends the 5th of Jan so you have plenty of time to continue to celebrate. I order a lot from Blair and I usually get the insurance. My DGD and I are presently waiting for gifts and I wonder if they were lost or stolen.
Ruth and Ginny, I hope the you are both having a good day and finding time to relax. I will check back later.
