good morning, Yes I do feel better today. the system finally worked last night and this am that makes me feel better.
I want to get in the shower will wait till don gets back from the y just in case I need to holler for him. I can't go to the walk In downstairs not suppose to go upstairs is what everybody tells me. I have to step over the tub. I might break down and do a sponge bath.
I happened to think I took that binding off row out of Hannah's scarf and may make it longer. also I have some adult coloring books in this bedroom closet, also a big book to read.so I have things to keep me busy.
I am not always as busy as you girls think. I can procastanate a lot. my intentions are good don't always follow through.
ruth I will pray for dh .would it be possible for you to give me a first name. I think prayers are easier if we have a fist name.
thank you girls for the conuntining prayers. phyl

Well, thought that I might have to accompany Dd upstate tomorrow, but the current weather forecast has cancelled the course she was supposed to take. (Over a foot of snow predicted for upstate). Makes for an easier weekend.

Phyl- good to hear that you are up and about and showing good respect for your health. Yes, waiting for Don before you take a shower is a good thing. Its always a big step when all the plumbing works after any kind of procedure like that. Keep on resting up and we look forward to hearing about your progress. G

Thank you all so much. Again I have to say what a great bunch of caring people you are!! I'm blessed to know you all
Phyl, I'm glad to hear that all systems are functioning properly again and that you are able to get around fairly well. Yes, it's best to wait till Don is home or confine it to a sponge bath. I imagine that if you aren't supposed to wlk up and down stairs that stepping over a tub side would probably not be too great of a thing to do either. I never worked in gyn so I don't know about restrictions after that type of surgery.I know that a coworker of mine had a laporoscopic vaginal hysterectomy and the doctor told her she couldn't vacuum for at least six weeks...don't know what he told her about stairs.AFter a c section I was allowed to walk up stairs.
Ginny, I'm glad you don't have to make that trip tomorrow if it's going to snow that much. I remember how bad the snow was in western NY. YOu couldn't see even a couple feet in front of you. So wherever the upstate is that you were having to go to I'm sure is just as bad not to mention getting stuck and being out there driving with people that don't seem to remember from year to year how to drive in snow. I'm glad to hear that the school buses are so strictly regulated there. I know it has to be a pain but the safety of children is so important. I can imagine how it is here. We don't even have vehicle inspection for which, in a way I'm glad, because they used to really scam you back in NY.
No I didn't get all my yarn organized just what I bought recently. I wish!! Still haven't got out to look for bins but I'm thinking that I'd need too many. I could start though. I wish I'd been smart enough when I bought the ones I have to have bought clear ones.
Last evening I did get some crocheting done but not on the blanket. Instead I started a new potholder. I really like these and so does dh so as I mentioned I'm going to make a bunch to give away. They're nice and thick so really protect the hands and if you use them for hotpads they protect the counter top or table. So far dh has "adopted" all the ones I've made. And I had a great inspiration the other day about this potholder stitch. It would make a great baby blanket. It would be thick and warm without being so heavy so sometime I might get to trying that and see how it works.

Hell Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I hope your DH is feeling better today, he's fortunate to have you and your expertise to keep an eye on him. Hope you are enjoying some crocheting today, the potholders sound interesting. Ginny - I'm sorry you have to clean out that bus, I'm sure it is a nasty job. That's nice that your state has such a good safety record, I'm sure you're proud of it. I hope that you'll get your order this time. Phyl - I'm glad to hear you are getting around better, hope you continue to improve. Meg - I hope you do get your new glasses soon, I'm sure you're anxious to see everything clearly. The weather here was almost 70 degrees!! But rainy and cloudy. I think tomorrow is supposed to be in the 30s. But no snow or ice, so I'm not complaining. I'm watching a Martha Stewart cooking show today and she is making donuts, fritters, etc. I never deep fry anything anymore, I wonder how many people do. Now I want a donut and/or an apple fritter Take care everyone!

CJ- do you have any apples in the house? Peel and cut up two (if they are small)- and microwave them until they are cooked- with a little cinnamon, some Splenda or truvia (sometimes I add a little vanilla) (whateversweeterner you use) and add a dollop of fat free cool whip. Ok it does not have that fried doughy consistency of a donut or fritter but tastes amazing and makes the house smell great too. Stay warm during the temperature drop....are you supposed to get snow mid week also?
Ruth, yes your memory of western NY is clear.....my DS attended Oswego state, and they sure do get that lake effect snow and lots of it. Potholders and dish rags are great- quick easy projects, great to try out new stitches and yarns....such nice projects. Would it be ok to make labels for the bins you have? And with January being get your home organized month, I would think that it would not to tough to find a good sale on bins if you wanted to pick some up.
I will have my bus back next week- it was parked in the barn waiting for me next week. Now I will have to clean the darned thing.
Pretty sure I am watching TV with Dd later and hope to get some crocheting done.

CJ, recently I tried deep frying fish and then later some fritters. In my opinion they didn't turn out well at all so no more deep frying for me.If I want deep fried fish from now on I'll go to Long John Silvers. It's a place dh likes too.I love donuts and apple fritters but this town is very strange in that they have no good donut places. No Duncan donuts, no Krispy Kreme, no Tim Horton's....nothing. There is one donut place but it stays open only until noon and they don't have my favorite kind anyway..Back in the Buffalo area there were tons of donut places on my way to work so I had donuts sometimes on the way to work and on the way home. It's not a good thing when you're trying to control your weight. When I go out of town, for instance to visit my ds, I always get donuts while there.
70 degrees! that is great....wish it was so here.
Ginny, it's good to hear you'll be able to get in crocheting while watching tv with your dd. I used to use the bins for fabric and had them labeled for that, so yes I could use them for yarn and also boxes. We get a lot of those so I could put brands of yarn in them both and label, or put certain weights together or colors. I've organized the yarn in several different ways over the years but now I have more than I've ever had since I have so much time on my hands and can make for the grands, friends, and for charities.

Good morning!
Ruth you will figure out the best way to get your yarn organized for sure! Your family is so blessed to have you making the home made gifts tailored to their personal taste. Have you started on that flower Afghan? How is your weather now? I️ am wondering because you are liking the thought of 70 degree days.
This is the time of year we get lots of seed catalogs for spring planting. Guess they want to make you dream when the weather is still too cold to plant. Think the temp has dropped here 10 degrees I️. The last hour! It’s going to be a cold day, not supposed to go above 25. Good day to reorganize some cabinets and crochet later on during the football game. I️ am about 40% done on the Afghan which is good. No longer panicking over not finishing the Afghan for a little one due in mid March..
Hi to Meg, CJ and Phyl. G

Good morning all. Yes it's still morning here but just barely.
I'm not sure what the temp is here but I'd guess about 30 but there's no wind today and it's sunny so at least that's a positive. I can handle too hot weather better than too cold but I can't handle humidity. In the summer here we have no humidity. Bad for skin and hair but good otherwise
Ginny, I'm glad to hear you're about 40% done on the baby afgan. You'll have it done for sure and it's going to be beautiful in that antique white.
I was just thinking this morning about how all the grands are growing up so fast.Soon there won't be little ones to make things for. It does seem strange too that with only two kids I have grandkids from age 27 down to 7 weeks. Wide age range there.
Phyl, YOu may procrastinate in some things...gotta believe you if you say so ...but you do get a lot done. All this surgery wont hold you down long.
CJ, we have weird weather like that here too where it may be 70 one day and only 35 the next but I didn't think that in your area that that's a usual thing. The weather has sure been strange. Even where my ds lives it usually never gets very cold but when they sent the thank you cards the grands mentioned that their high for the day they were writing was only 9. Now this weekend they're supposed to get lots of snow which is also unusual there and they're all looking forward to sledding on their hill.Wish I lived nearer because I h,ave a bunch of sleds I could give them.
Ginny, I have about 17 inches done on the flowers in a row blanket. I want to make it about 50 inches I think so I have a bit to go. I did work on it last night.I need to do more crocheting and less "other" stuff.I did get a couple little things started to work on while waiting in waiting rooms for doctors, etc. When dh has his scopes there will be lots of waiting time. I have to make sure I'm organized with all I need to crochet while sitting. They don't like you to leave while the person is being scoped. Even though it's the same doctor they have two different places where they do the procedures. One has a little room with coffee, tea,etc for the person waiting. The other has nothing. So I hope we go to the "coffee" one. It's easier to get to also.

CJ, I know you feed birds so thought this would interest you. Do you do hummingbird feeders? We put out feeders here (except for this past summer when it was another thing left in the dust due to my bladder deal) and we love to watch them. When we had our little "fishing shack" in Arkansas we put them out there too. Even when I sat on the deck or on the side of the house on the stairs the hummers would come right up to me becuase I used a cup that had a red top and I guess they thought it was a feeder. They also like to see themselves in people's glasses. Anyway they were very possessive of the feeders there too. And the ones down there were MEAN! I was hard of hearing then too but even I could hear them hitting each other and you can imagine that that had to be a very hard hit in order for anyone to hear it esp a person who can't hear well. They would sit in one of the mimosa trees or on a pole and as soon as another hummer came by they would fly and slam into the other one. Here they just chase others away, they don't hit each other.
My cousin in Pa has a lot of feeders, one is quite large and he had 17 hummers sitting on that one. I've never seen any other hummers that would allow others to be on the same feeder.
Another funny thing is that the neighbor who was about 75 years old or so came over and saw the feeders and told me that the hummers woulldn't drink my food because I didn't color it red. Well she was soon surprised when one came up and started drinking. As I'm sure you know red coloring is not only not necessary but it can be harmful to the little guys.

HELLO EVERYONE,
Hope you have had a nice day. The temp here is in the mid 50s and the sun was shining so quite a nice day for this time of year. I have Janet home this afternoon and she has been in a good mood Devin and his mom are away this weekend so it has been quiet.
Ginny, have fun cleaning your bus I don't think I would like to have to clean up after all those kids. You are making good headway withyour b/blanket and I am sure you will have it finished for the new baby. I am nowcpassed the 1/2 way point . This blanket will be about 30" by 30". My last blanket was pink and so is this one. I have a lot of pink yarn, I think the next one will be either rows of granny stitch or rows of V stitch. I would also like to make one using waffle stitch.
Phyl. I am sure you don't feel like being out and hopefully some of your friends will pay you a visit to cheer you up while you recover.
cj, do you ever make baked apples? I love apples no matter how they are cooked. If I think too much about food I want to eat so I don't watch cooking shows very much.
Ruth, Your DH is a lucky guy to have his own nurse to take care of him. I am glad to hear that he is feeling better.
Thid evening I will probably knit and listen to a book. Right now I would like A NAP BUT I CAN'T DO THAT AS I NEED TO FIX ss SOMETHING TO EAT SHE WILL BE LEAVING SOON.
HAVE A GOOD EVENING EVERYONE

Meg, good seeing you. I Hope you and Janet had a good visit and it didn't tire you out too much. Have a good evening listening to your audio book and knitting. The reason my blanket turned into having the rows of flowers yellow, lilac, and creamsicle is because I thought I didn't have any of the pastel pink. I Have lots of the pink that you and I got on sale because of breast cancer awareness. In the craft room the other pound of love looked like it was lilac so I switched to yellow, creamsicle and lilac. Well when I got to the row where I was going to use lilac I went to get it and found that it was actually the pastel pink. I had too much of it done to change back to two shades of pink so I just found another brand that was lilac and used that. Sometime I might make one with the two shades of pink. I'm pretty sure my dgd will like the colors in her blanket.I might just use the two different shades of pink to make my donated blankets. Don't want to donate baby blankets made in flowers in a row because the spaces between flowers are too large and little fingers can get stuck.
I did some cooking today testing my Instant Pot. I'm not all that impressed with it and am considering returning it. They claim it cooks food faster but by the time you count in the time it takes to get up to pressure, the actual cooking time, and the coming back to normal pressure it actually takes quite awhile to cook some things. I did hb eggs in it. It took 20 min to get up to pressure, only five minutes to cook and only two minutes before venting steam but that's way longer than making them on the stove. They said dry beans 30 min..well I did them 45 min of actual cooking time and they weren't done. Had to do them another 45...so with time for pressure to get up and then back down after the cooking time it was a long time but they did end up better than how they turn out on stovetop. did sweet potatoes in it and they turned out good.
I did some crocheting too and will do more this evening

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I love Long John Silvers, but all the stores around me have mostly closed. We have a lot of donut shops though! I could eat donuts every day So many people love the Instant Pot, but I can't imagine I would like using it much either. I just prefer to cook things on the stove or in the oven. But hopefully it is good for some foods. Sounds like your blanket is coming along. I put out a hummingbird feeder each Summer. I only get 2-3 birds usually but the males are very territorial and will fight each other to keep them away from the feeder. I always think if they'd just drink and leave, everyone would get something My DB and DSIL put out feeders too and they have gotten anywhere from 10-20 hummingbirds at a time. They live more out in the country so I guess it's a safer environment for the birds. You're right about the myth of red water, I only use water and sugar and it works fine. I do love to watch them each year. Meg - I hope you enjoyed the visit with your DD and got some knitting in yesterday. Also hope you are enjoying a quiet weekend. I need to stop watching the cooking shows and reading recipes on the Internet, it does tend to make me overeat. But I do love to read about baking. I've never made baked apples, I should try that sometime. Ginny - I hope your weather isn't too bad, it's very cold here but sunny. Hopefully the bus cleaning will go quickly and then I guess you are done with that for awhile? Hope you heard about or received your yarn order. Thanks for the suggestions on the apples. I do make applesauce in my microwave and enjoy that while it's still warm. Phyl - Hope you are continuing to improve and are feeling better and that you've found some things to do while you take it easy. I guess your weather has been pretty cold too! The weather has been very cold here, but sunny today. I watched a bunch of hand quilting videos yesterday, so that was my crafting. I really like that part of quilting, so I need to concentrate on getting some time in doing that. Take care everyone!

BLessed Sunday all!
Meg- you sound tired! Glad that Devin is away and giving you a rest, but having Janet there must be exhausting at times, even if she is in a great mood. Its simply not what you are used to on a daily basis. Hope that you get some rest this evening and that you enjoyed your time with her.
Ruth, you have a large spread in your grandchildren - which sure keeps you busy crocheting for them! But what a blessing...and it sure makes family get togethers fun! Sorry about the instant pot- which does not seem like it will save you much time at all. Think I would take it back too. Dh does not go for tests for another week, right?
Phyl- I totally agree with Ruth, all your procedures are merely a speed bump for you and you will be back having fun and chilling in your play pen soon.
CJ- how did your day go?? Welcome back to winter weather now....hope your weekend is going well.
I feed birds too- seems funny that until only 2 days ago we had no finches and the thistle feeder had no customers. Now we have several, and some other birds have come in too. Almost like they are starting to migrate already. Its not hummingbird season for a long time here....yes I feed them too making my own simple solution from water and sugar. I usually get only one hummer at a time.
Got some crocheting done while watching football. G

CJ, I saw a little of your British baking show on PBS. I just watched for a short time but they were making rolls..bread rolls. Then they were assigned to make ciabatta bread.. It looks like an interesting show. We usually only get 2 oe 3 hummers fighting for the feeders. They don't seem to like others even going to the other feeders when there's more than one hanging. We live in a pretty rural area too although in a development and many of the neighbors have feeders too I think.i used to watch a lot of Food Network and had to stop because it always made me want to eat. Plus they don't have any good shows on anymore either. I usually record CHopped and Beat Bobby Flay, and when it was on...don't think its on anymore...Cooks vs Cons. And CJ, I hope it warms up in your area again soon and I hope watching the videos will inspire you.
Ginny, I don't know a lot about birds so I can't tell a finch from a wren except for one that we have here which is a pink headed finch. Down in Arkansas there were just so many different birds. I loved it and looked many of them up online to identify them..I love it in the spring here when the Bullock's Orioles come through. I'm glad you got some crocheting in while watching football. So did I. I'm going to get back to it in a minute or two.
I think that dh and I are going for our blood draw tomorrow. We don't see the doctor until the 26th but I hope to be able to see our results on Patient Portal. Back in 2016 when we had them done it took over six months before they were put online though. I hope they got that all fixed by now. I'd like to know the results beforehand so that I can ask questions if there are any abnormalities plus I'm just plain curious and want to know the results.
I hope that Meg and Phyl are both having good days also.
