Good morning, its great to have a sane day today and the ability to just post quietly, not in such a hurry.
Ruth, I hope you and DH are able to get your lab work done today. Check your patient portal within 2 or 3 days, if your lab results are not there then start harassing the lab. We have had reasonably good luck with them and now get emails when our results are in. Especially with your background, its really helpful to see your results before going into the doctor so you can have questions ready.
There is decent information on birds (as in those that come to your feeders) by going on the Cornelll Ornithology web site. (We were actually hoping to visit them if Dd was heading up to that seminar at Cornell on Saturday, the seminar that was cancelled due to weather). THey run the great backyard bird count. (Think the web site is gbbc, org) and have very good tools, if you are nuts enough to identify birds. I remember 2 years ago, having this strange sparrow at my feeder, it took me 2 or three days of watching that bird to get a good head on look at it, to be able to determine that it was a tree sparrow, a bird that is not very common here.
Slept pretty well....going to try to enjoy this extra day off.
Hi to CJ. Meg and Phyl Ginny

Good morning Ginny and Phyl and those that come in later.
Phyl, I agree with Don, it's good for you to get out as long as you don't try to run marathons while you're out.Sorry the coat is not still on sale but as you said it will be in a month or so. I'm waiting too for an online place to have their coats on sale.I got two spring jackets from there just a couple months ago and saved about 90%.
Ginny, thanks so much for the info about bird id. I'll definitely go there. We try to identify the birds we see but sometimes they don't show up when we put what we think would be info that would take us to a site where there would be info. The internet is so amazing sometimes...well then sometimes not. Dh will say he wonders about something or someone and I tell him "I'll look it up". Used to be you had to go to the library or look in an encyclopedia.
We decided not to go for blood draw today for a number of reasons. First of all it got really cold during the night and is only about 18 right now. It snowed too but not much. Today is a holiday and although I think the lab would be open, school is out for the day and too many people will be out driving around and in stores which we intended to go to after having blood drawn. With dh's back still aching he doesn't want added stress of a lot of people esp kids.We have a lot of time since doctor visit isn't for almost two weeks. I once asked the lab if they email the results and they don't. Some labs here do. This lab is associated with the whole clinic like setting there...doctors, lab, pharmacy all in the same group. We don't use their pharmacy though.
Now here's one for you. We;ve always walked around in barefeet and our kids too. Now I don't in winter because I have Raynaud's in my toes. Grown kids still walk around their homes in bare feet. Well the other day dd felt something stick her foot on the side by her big toe then it started swelling and really hurting so a couple days later she went to a quick care where they did xrays and you can see there's something like a sewing needle imbedded in her foot. So they gave her antibiotics but she now has to go to an ortho to have this thing removed. So lesson of the day...don't walk around in bare feet.My dh doesn't either because of diabetes
Have a great day all and Ginny, enjoy the bonus day off

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I don't wear shoes in the house, though I know I should. I try to be really careful when I'm sewing to keep track of my needles. I hope things goes well for your DD to get the needle removed. Hope you and your DH can get out another day for the blood work. I thought about going out this morning and then looked at the traffic driving up and down the road (4 lanes) in front of my house and decided to wait until tomorrow when they all go back to work (lots of Federal workers in our area so they are off today, and schools closed too). I try not to watch too many cooking shows, and most of them aren't that enjoyable so it's easy. I do love the British one, so I hope you like it. I'm also watching the Kid's Baking show that comes on tonight on Food TV at 9:00 P.M. The kids are so fun to watch and I like to see what creations they come up with. Ginny - Hope you are enjoying your day off and the weather is good. Phyl - I'm glad you were able to get out with your DH, and you are smart for not overdoing it. Hope you are able to get the clothes you want later at a better price. Meg - Hope you are getting in some crafting and listening to books. It's cold here today but a bit sunny. We're supposed to have some snow tomorrow night so I'm planning to go out in the morning and get some groceries and do some shopping. I need to get the oil changed in one car. I've been putting it off but hopefully I'll be motivated to get it done tomorrow. I've been struggling with my diet for about a month now, but I'm trying to get back on track starting today. Hope I can get the overeating under control. I have continued to get all my exercise in and eating healthy foods, but I've been eating a bunch of junk too. I have it all out of the house now and hopefully I won't bring any more of it in. Take care everyone!

That's the problem with getting off track for a holiday such as a birthday or Thanksgiving and Christmas,,,its often very hard to get back on track. But I know you can do it CJ.

So I just heard from my dd. She got home from the ortho and after looking at the xrays he told her that he will have to do it at the hospital under anesthesia and with fluoroscopy because the needle or whatever it is, is buried in an area where there are a lot of nerves and blood vessels. Of course she doesn't have medical insurance but I guess they can set up a payment plan

Good evening! CJ, it’s not at all uncommon to go off the wagon during holidays and have trouble getting g.back on track. Don’t we all wish there was some way to magically re inspire that “week one “ enthusiasm? My former leader suggested bthat members go back and re read week one literature. Perhaps looking at your weight loss records would help so you can see all the progress you have made. Try not to beat yourself up on any weight you have gained, try to look forward in losing not backward on what you have gained! You can do this!
Phyl, I️ agree with don and Ruth, you got off to a nice slow start.....rest up and save your energy for another day. Sounds like you are doing great!
Ruth, our lab results are not emailed to us, but we can log into a portal to review them. Check out that bird web site. Its a lot of fun..... you can learn a lot.
Ok I️ am on my phone and am posting from memory.
Hoping for another dAy off from school on wednesday, looks like we will be getting some snow. Fine by me! Hope Meg can check in.
Have a good evening

Ruth. So sorry that what seemed like something minor has become a big deal. I️ am sure that the doctors advice is best, that way they can take care of this injury the right way. How is Dd handling this? Will pray that it all works out..... from a successful procedure to a good payment plan. Trust God. He has a plan.

Hi Ruth, Ginny, Phyl & cj,.
I didn't sleep well last night so I slept really late this morning. I am having another lazy day. Yesterday DS and I did our big grocery shopping so that's out of the way for 2 - 3 weeks. I didn't do any crafting as I was reading a book on my Nook and as it wasn't an audio book I did not work on my b/blanket. This morning I warched a tutorial on UTube as I think my next project will be a V stitch b/blanket and I just wanted to review as it is awhile since I did my last one. The sun is shining here but it feels cold. This evening I will probably knit and listen to a book.
Phyl, it is good that you are able to get out and you have DH to keep an eye on you. Don't over do, easy does it. Sorry you missed the coat sale and I hope you will be able to get it when it goes on sale again. I bought a coat on sale at Sears a few years ago and it sits in my closet, I have never worn it and it is a perfectly nice coat. I should donate it.
Ginny, I hope you are enjoying your day off school. You do know a lot about birds. I used to feed then but that's about it.
cj, Good idea to stay home when the roads are busy. Hopefully everything will be slower tomorrow and you can get out. I had been doing quite well with my eating. However my DS brought a big box of donuts home and I ate 2 of them. I love donuts and could probably eat the whole box if I really got started. So back to the basics today. I try to eat mostly Core foods. What is your plan for losing weight?
Ruth, Sorry about your DD, I hope they can get the needle out with out too much trouble and pain. I always wear something on my feet because I stepped on a mail one time. Devin loves to run around in his bear feet and I am always trying to get him to wear something and keep his feet covered. With regard to lab. tests I always get an e-mail in a few hours. I don't always understand the results but I usually hear from my Dr. if I need meds or whatever. I hope you can get to the Lab soon and that your DH will feel better soon.
I wish you all a good evening and sleep well.

Hey Meg! Is this the week you go for glasses? Your lazy day sounds so relaxing! Nice to have the big shoppping trip done. Is your shopping fairly close to your house? Nothing better than a good book, you are one of those talented folks who can read more than one story at a time. Hope you rest well tonight G

Ginny, if it snows I sure hope they close your schools so you don't have to drive in it either the bus or to and from your home.Thank you for the comments on my dd's foot problem. I didn't realize something in the foot would be such a big deal. I guess it hurts quite a lot and she said that the needle must have hit a nerve because it hurt so much and she was right about the nerve thing. They gave her pain meds and a boot to use to enable her to walk without too much pain
Meg, I'm glad you were able to sleep in this morning. The big shopping trip must have worn you out. I'm glad you don't have to do that again for awhile. Yes it's always a good idea to refresh your memory before starting a new project. It's terrible getting a bit done then discover you've done it wrong or made a mistake.
CJ, it's good that you will be getting your shopping done before the snow hits and you were smart to not go out today in all the traffic
Ginny, I'll definitely be going to that bird site and thank you again for posting it.
I haven't gotten any crocheting done yet today. I baked dh a carrot cake and Ginny, back when you suggested the bread,, egg, and sausage casserole to me as something I might want to make while ds was visiiting we had never had that before as since dh says he didn't like bread pudding I didn't think he would like this one either. But one day he actually suggested making it...maybe a month ago. He really liked it so today suggested that I make him one and bake while the carrot cake was baking. So that's what I did.I also made a separate one for me using rice bread (found marked down). We just had some and mine was delicious and he said his was good also.I think I ate too much though. I'm feeling very full.
Well dh wants to visit so will see you all tomorrow. Sleep well

Good morning Phyl and to the others when you join us.It's so cold here today again. It's supposed to be warmer today and the rest of the week but it doesn't look like today is going make it to near warm
Phyl, they opened a Tractor supply store near us several years ago but we've never been in it. We just keep forgetting until we're on the way home and are too tired to stop.I know Marlene talks about going there but I really have no idea what all they sell.

Good afternoon!
Ruth, my dd makes a similar casserole with frozen tater tots, egg, cheese and bacon or sausage. Its pretty good too— being that I like tater tots I might like it even more. Glad that Dd is at least comfortable now- did she have the procedure yet or did they give her the boot in preparation of the procedure so she would be more comfortable?
Phyl- enjoy the Russian wool Santa class!! Glad you are feeling well enough to enjoy it. Congrats to Hannah on losing her tooth....
Well, we had an early dismissal today- so I am home early. It snowing lightly now....think we are in for 4 or 5 inches of snow now. I did sign up for a class to make placemats today- its next month and i will have to go to the quilt shop to buy the fabric first. It will be the first official class I have in bindings- guess that is why its rated a 3 out of 4 in difficulty. A little disappointing but they no longer carry the charm pack I need to make a second table runner. I can get it on ebay or amazon and will buy it there. G
