hello all. Meg didn't check in last night but she was probably knitting and listening to her audiobook.
Today I'm doing some cooking in advance because although it's a beautiful day today with over 50 temp (bit of wind again though) but tonight we are to have a snow storm and get somewhere over 5 inches. So I'm making pasta sauce, Chicken soup with rice and quinoa, and a cherry crisp.I made a large batch of sauce so that I'll have some for other things too.DH has some bread he bought yesterday that will make a good French bread type pizza even tho it's not French bread.
CJ, yes you did get crafting in. It's always greeat to read about the crafts we enjoy to that we get ideas and maybe learn some new techniques.
Ginny, I keep thinking it's Saturday but luckily when I read your message about your bus I realized that it's only Friday. Not that the day of the week usually matters in my life.Once retired everyday is a good resting day.
Well back to my cooking...see you later

CJ- well of course you got a lot of crafting done today!!Its sort of like saving for your retirement- all the videos and crafting articles you read or watch go into your mind whic of course gets inspiration from what you have read. So glad you are enjoying the more spring like weather!! Hey we are a third of the way through winter...
Speaking of that, I did notice while taking the kids home that the days are getting longer- maybe not by a lot but the sun is up longer. My country woman magazine came the other day and they had an article that this is a great time to craft- think the logic was cause it still not nice enough to get out all the time, so crafting is a good way to get through the remaining winter weather. Sounds like good logic to me~
I am not so patiently waiting for my Herrscheners order.its a good thing its not here, cause then I will want to work on the ornaments. Yesterday I also ordered (ebay) the charm pack so I can make a second table runner. I called he quilt shop and they will no longer be able to get that charm pack in, so I had to go to ebay. That shipped already so I should have my charm pack next week. The table runner was an easy project, so I ought to be able to make that in a short amount of time. I have to get my eating back under control. My IBS is flaring up. Glad I have the weekend to get it back under control
Have a good night

Ginny, I'm glad you were able to find the charm pack that you need. You'll be able to make another beautiful table runer.
Yes there are so many foods that cause us problems. Sometimes it's just so hard to avoid them all but we sure pay for it when we get off track.
I have all my foods simmering and baking so very soon I'll be done and can go downstair and spend the evening crocheting. I didn't end up doing any yesterday but did do some this morning before starting on my household tasks.
Yes I did notice the days getting longer but we always have a late spring. Most of the time it teases us by giving us really nice days only to have it turn nasty again. Can't really count on spring until the last of May and you probably won't remember me whining but we had a big snow storm last year on May 21st.
Well have a great evening all and enjoy your weekend. I'm going to go to patient portal and see if the results are there but I doubt they are

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - The food you cooked yesterday sounds good. I hope it helps you to have that ready to eat during the storm. Also hope your weather isn't too bad. I have to think a bit to remember what day of the week it is too, now that I'm retired. And don't even talk about the actual date, I have to look at the calendars I keep around the house to remember that Ginny - Hope you can work on your eating so your IBS calms down, hopefully you'll be able to do that this weekend. I'm glad you found your charm pack on Ebay. Isn't it amazing how many ways we can get our crafting things now instead of only having to go to a store to purchase them? I sure hope you get your Herrscheners order soon. Phyl and Meg - Hope you're doing well. It's another pretty day here today, sunny and mild in the 50s. I think tomorrow is supposed to be that way too. So it's good to have this enjoyable January weather. Take care everyone!

Hello CJ and all that come in later. I'm glad to hear that your weather is nice. We did get snow but no where near what they said we would get and there isn't much wind so doesn't look bad. Earlier you couldn't really see out well but I don't think that would affect driving. It's much clearer now. It's always worse looking here and more wind because of the proximetry of the mountain behind us.
I did some work on the blanket today and then, of course, there's always something to be done around the house. Now that I do much of a thorough cleaning job in the winter. I'm glad I got the heavy cleaning done in Sept before ds and dgd came to visit.I did some more crocheting last evening too and will this evening also.
I had some of the beans I cooked in the instant pot last night (didn't cook them last night but ate them last night) and they're delicious. As I mentioned, it took twice as long as "they" say to good them but they are so nice and tender. I've never had dry beans turn out so nice.
WEll back to crochet after I look at email, etc.

Happy Saturday!
Ruth, glad those beans turned out so well for you! Nice to get all that cooking done- hopefully it gives you some easy days when you do not have to cook. Did you get much crocheting done?
CJ- glad you were able to enjoy the weather. Yes its a treat in January to have weather this warm.
Busy day- wish I had been home getting stuff done. MY IBS is calming- now I just have to behave myself and things will be back to normal.
Hope to get some crocheting in later. Hi to Meg and Phyl Ginny

I received this in email today and it's perfect for this time in making this blanket and also reiterates some of the things we've said here on this board and thread
Life Cycle of Crafty Projects
We were chatting in my online community recently, and someone posted the most hilarious photo about the life cycle of a knit or crochet project. It basically diagrammed the journey (for lack of a better word) we all take when we embark on a big project.
The life cycle of a crafty project looked a little something like this:
Step 1. 1-10% finished. Total excitement about starting a new project and how amazing the finished item will be.
Step 2. 10-30% finished. The “Wow…this is taking longer than I first expected stage”.
Step 3. 30-99% finished. Total regret that this project was ever started and despair that it may never be finished.
Step 4. 100% finished. Extreme joy, pride, and accomplishment at the finished project.
The graphic actually made me laugh out loud because nearly every time I start a large project with some sort of time frame in mind, I go through this exact psychological process. Luckily….I’ve learned a few tips for dealing with the process so as not to throw too many projects out (or into the unfinished pile) during Step 3.
Work on more than one project at a time. This helps keep you interested during those stages when you feel like you simply CAN’T do a single additional row on a project. Just set it down and work on something smaller in between.
Whenever possible, avoid working on a tight timeline. Crafting is supposed to be about fun….not about developing ulcers. Take solace in the fact that the shawl that’s currently giving you a migraine will be just as beautiful as next year’s Christmas gift as it would have been for this one. Finish at your leisure and save it to gift when the time is right.
Remember to cut yourself some slack. Step 3 can be REALLY hard to get through if you’re big into nit picking your work. Take the attitude of many elders before you – if it doesn’t have at least one mistake in it, then it’s probably not hand-made.
Find crafty friends you can whine to when you’ve reached your breaking point. It’s important to have a really persistent cheering section during some of these bigger projects. Being able to post progress photos regularly can make a big difference towards finishing!

The above was sent to me in a newsletter from one of the sites I find patterns on.
Ginny, when we're working there's always so much to do on our days off. When my son was young..probably 6 or 7, the teacher had all the kids get a recipe from their mothers and put it in a little booklet with other things about their moms like what is her favorite color and what is her favorite activity. This was for Mother's day. A lot of the kids said that their mom's favorite things were reading to them, playing with them, and taking them to the park. I thought my son was about the only one that said his mom's favorite things were ironing clothes and washing the floor. Just recently though, I came across that booklet again and found that many other kids in his class said similar things. Looking back is really not a productive venture but often we wish we had a do over. I know I do. I did a lot with my kids and dh but if I had another chance I'd do things differently and spend more time with them andleave the floors dirty. And actually they probably weren't dirty when I washed them anyway. It was just something I thought I should do that often. I especially hate to see, when I look back, that we spent so much time watching tv.Now that my dh and I are older and alone, watching tv is a nice things to do together but back then we could have done other thing that fostered more togetherness.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - that information on projects is very accurate. I feel that way about a lot of things I work on. I always have several things started at once since I often get bored with a project. Of course it would be nice to finish some of them I'm glad your beans came out well, a lot of people really like using the Instant Pot. Hindsight sure is 20/20 isn't it? There are so many things I wish I'd done differently in my life. I'm sure your children were just happy to have had you and your DH as their parents Ginny - I'm glad to hear your IBS is calming down. Hope today is more restful for you than yesterday. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are both doing well. It's mild here today, in the 60s, but cloudy. I watched a Hallmark movie today that I really liked. Some of those movies I've purchased on DVD, but this one isn't available that way yet. I'm also baking a turkey tenderloin for dinner and hope to get a few meals out of it. I put it in the fridge yesterday to thaw but it was still kind of frozen today, so I'll make sure to check the internal temperature so that it gets done. Take care everyone!

Hello CJ and all who come in later
We got a lot of snow during the night. It's not bad today though but you know how it is oce the plows go by, you end up not being able to get out of your driveway. Luckily we have no place to go until Friday so hopefully it will be gone by then but once the wind comes up tomorrow and we have a ground blizzard it could drift a lot and that could cause trouble. At least we got our blood drawn and the doctor can call us if anything is off on that if we can't get out on Friday.
CJ, the turkey tenderloin sounds really good. What are you going to have with it? I'm glad you have nice warm weather. I can sit and dream about having some of it here.
Yes, as someone who shares having IBS and also colitis I know what a challenge it is to have to be careful.
We haven't heard from Meg in a few days. Devin and Meg's son probably have been using the computer and Meg is knitting happily and listening to her books...I hope anyway.
Phyl, it's good that you've been able to get out once again.
I've finished the main part of the blanket and have one row of edging done and will make just one more then will be all the weaving in of ends. There are a LOT of those. I'm not sure on what I'm going to to work on next. i'll have to look at my list. Another dgd has a birthday in mid March and so does her mom and I have a couple other project for before that too.

Good evening!
Ruth, well I found the life cycle of a craft hysterical, well becasue its just so darned true! And regarding mistakes, the Amish make sure that there is at least one mistake in their crafts, becasue only God is perfect. I think that is a pretty neat approach. Of course if I am making it, there will be mistakes. Plenty. Oh well. I made it with love, whatever it is! How well I do understand how it seemed as though all we did was wash floors, vacuum, do laundry and clean up the endless spills of juice on the kitchen floor. I can well see how it seems as thought he house does not get nearly so messy when even my adult kids are not here. I think its amazing that you completed that afghan-and yes I bet there are a ton of loose ends to tie in. Your list of projects must seem endless....but you are well organized and I am sure will get everyone’s gifts done. SOunds like you did not have to cook much today- nice after all the cooking you accomplished the day before. I gather your bloodwork was not available online- which does indeed happen. Yes your doctor will call if there is anything out of range. How is Dd’s Foot?
CJ- the turkey tenderloin sounds really really good- and will also provide great leftovers. Its point friendly also- and so very versatile. Turkey is an ultimate comfort food too....so nice during the winter. Glad you are enjoying some Hallmark movies. I like that they have extended the Christmas season by having winter themed movies that are not revolving around Christmas.
Long day and I am tired. Its a shame, we have 4 weeks of school before Presidents weekend.(the next holidays off). At least inspection is done for me, so I can just drive now. SPent some time crocheting today- and also chatting with a friend and the pastors wife after church today. Both women craft/quilt. I am figuring that a my Herrscheners order and charm pack will arrive this week. WIll not have time for either however, as I have so much to do on the baby afghan which must get done first.
Hope Meg and Phyl are doing fine- we miss you both G

Sorry I haven't been checking in much lately. Friday something was wrong with the computer . I have been knitting and winding yarn into balls. Also I have been straining to watch the screen. Just a little while ago came and checked what I I was doing he said he would help me because he could type faster. also he offered to check my mistakes. He is waiting for me to get off the computer so that he can get on. So this will be short and sweet. I hope he goes to school tomorrow.. I was talking to my great nephew on the phone this morning. He lives in N. Ireland and he used to live on the computer when he was younger. He is now about 23 and will be finished at University soon. I asked him about playing games and all the stuff Devin gets up to. He said he doesn't do that anymore so there is hope for Devin. My nephew is very smart and has done very well and a company has offered him a job when he is finishes at the University.
Ruth, thank you for sharing your e-mail with us. I can identify with most of it and it was funny. Good idea to cook up some meals to have ready when you are snowed in.
cj, I am glad you have some good movies to watch. I forget to watch Hallmark. I might watch Victoria in PBS this evening. I watched last eeek when they started the 2nd season. I missed the first season.
Ginny, I hope your Herrscheners order arrives soon. How is your b/blanket coming along? Take care and hope you can control your BS.
Phyl, Hope all is well with you and that you are continuing to make a good recovery.
Hope I didn't make too many mistakes I have been straining my eyes.. I go to get my eyes checked Tuesday and hope I can order new glasses.

Meg, I don't see any mistakes. I make more mistakes than you. For some reason my fingers don't go where they should on the keyboard so I make a lot of typos. I hope your eye exam goes well and you're able to order your glasses. Yes my dgs is always playing games on the computer too. He's 12 now but has been doing that for a couple years now at least.
Yes, I thought that was really cute too so had to share it with you all. The woman that sent it is a very nice young lady with 3 adorable children. She and her husband work together on her site selling her patterns and apparently make good money doing it. Thank you for all the compliments, Ginny. I'm really not all that organized but I appreciate that you ladies think I am. And yes, I too hope that your Herrschnerr's order arrives soon. they should have given you a coupon or a discount for having to wait so long. and yes it's too bad that it's so long between holidays. there are more than one in Feb though, right?
I was watching football today while crocheting and both "my" teams lost. Disappointing but, well, it's only a game. I'm not really a Jaguars fan but I don't like the Patriots.
After doing all that cooking I am going to cook again today. I have chicken marinating because it needs to be used. Dh just used the sauce I made ...was it yesterday?... to make a bread pizza so now we have even more leftovers and I shoulldn't have to cook for quite a few days so will have lots of crafting time
Oh and Ginny, yes my list of projects I want to do really is endless and I keep finding more. As I mentioned before I don't post on facebook, just look at family pics that are posted there but every day there are pictures of crochet items with the link to the pattern and I've collected a few of those too.
See you all tomorrow and Ginny, have a good day at work
Hello also to Phyl who I hpe is doing ok after being out the other day.
