We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Pam thx for the start up.
Going to use my frustration energy with the incoming Tweetybird for something constructive. Cleared through 6 bins of Christms stuff, three more to go. That is something I have wanted to do for years.
BBL after reading the news.......or maybe just listen to JT.

Good morning!
Way to go, Anne, channeling all that frustration constructively. We should all do that. We'd be amazed at what we could get accomplished in these next four years.
Did any of you see the Steve Kroft interview with President Obama on 60 Minutes last night? We are going to sorely miss him and his level headed approach to policy. Can you imagine Tweety actually considering different sides of an issue before firing off an angry tweet?

I heard on the news yesterday that Ringing Brothers Circus is shutting down business after 146 years.
With the Circus that's about to commence in the White House, who needs Ringing Brothers!

Robert Reich 1 hr · Trump is on target to raise more than $90 million — a record amount — to pay for days of Inaugural activities, including receptions, balls and the parade. His inaugural committee is offering access to Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence and their families in exchange for at least six-figure donations. For $100,000, donors will receive two tickets for dinner and a policy discussion with select Cabinet appointees. For $250,000, two tickets to a lunch with women of the first family. For $1 million, four tickets to a lunch featuring Cabinet appointees and congressional leaders and four tickets to a dinner with Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen. But Trump is trying to keep secret the names of the companies donating millions (a break from his Republican and Democratic predecessors in the White House). Some corporate names have been leaked. I think it appropriate that you boycott them, and let their CEOs know you won’t do business with companies that collude with a tyrant: Chevron: $500,000. Boeing: $1 million, UPS JPMorgan Chase Bank of America Deloitte AT&T What do you think? www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article126518069.html

I think when things get tough, we gonna get bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if the only thing we can do is boycott.....then so be it!
Bye bye ATT&T-UPS and any others I find out about.
Hopefully this level of protest will stay strong after the march on the 21st.

I just shake my head... horror show, circus, whatever it is it's so not the country I love. I've always felt one should respect the "Office of the President". I still respect the Oval office (it looks so nice in pictures!) but NOT it's soon to be occupant.
I'm getting a massage on Friday---would it could last all day...

I've been lurking here for awhile and just wanted to post something.
Back,in 1962 during the Cuban Missile crisis I was in jr high. Instead of fire drills we had air raid drills when we all, practiced crouching under our desks, hands over our heads. As if that was going to save us. I remember being scared and praying that if the missiles were launched, I'd be home with my family & not at school. For the first time in 54 years I feel the same kind of fear & I do not want to live in fear. What is orange crush going to get us into? I check the news as soon as I get up in the a.m. just to make sure we're not under attack. I also, check to see what country he may have alienated during the night by a few thoughtless tweets. And don't get me started on the domestic side. How did this happen in America?
For,the first time since I was a kid I will not watch the inauguration or any news that day, I'll go dark. I hope more congressmen skip the ceremony.
I've shed enough tears. I pray that midterm elections will put Democrats in control of Congress,so that the rights of all the people are safeguarded and the words of the Constitution are protected.
Over & out & thanks for this forum.

Welcome sullicat, Thanks for the support and post, if Dumpfy survives the 4 years we are all going to need each other..
I do the same thing you do when I wake up, check the news to see if he has started a war yet.
How did this happen? It seems to me to have been the perfect storm.....and we will watch Nero fiddle and line his pockets while Rome burns.

News Update: 80 buses are leaving from Ct at 1:30 A.M Jan 21.
WHAT A GAL MARY IS!
"We’re not going to sit quietly at home,” said Mary Himes, a Greenwich mother of two who works in interior design and is the wife of Democratic Congressman Jim Himes.
Himes, 50, gave away her ticket to Trump’s inaugural but will join the march.
“I personally am going both as a protest of Trump and as a way to show support for issues that I feel are under attack by the incoming administration,” Himes said.
The march will be a feminist tour de force, but participants say their purpose isn’t just to denounce Trump as a misogynist: It’s about raising awareness for issues such as reproductive rights, immigration reform, equal pay, universal health care and one of special interest to Connecticut: gun control.
They will ride on buses, trains and, cars. They will come in pantsuits — a nod to Hillary Clinton — and parkas. They will wear green wristbands for Newtown and, in a dig at Trump, pink “pussyhats.”
