This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Hello Everyone - Welcome to the February thread irisinnia - Congratulations on having a good day, hope it's followed by lots of "good" days! I'm doing pretty well this week, but have been overeating some. I'm trying to figure out the reasons I'm doing this. One of them is that I've allowed myself to bring foods into the house that I know I can't control. I realized that in the past several years I would not do that, or I would be careful to bring in only one portion of something like that. I've kept up with my exercise, daily water, eating healthy foods, but it's these foods I can't control having in the house that are probably causing me the most problem. Even though I'm doing the WW Freestyle program I can understand their philosophy that most people are probably not going to overeat a lot on the zero point foods, so it's safer to have them in the house. I'm hoping I can be strong enough to stop buying them. Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans.

Hi everyone! I get excited by new threads, and new months, so this thread has me super pumped! cj59, Thank you! I am going to rally as best I can. And that's great that you're trying Freestyle! Weren't you previously on one of the older programs?

irisinnia - I was typing faster than I was thinking when I said I was "doing" Freestyle. I meant to say even though I "was not doing" Freestyle. I'm still doing the old WW Momentum. Sorry for the confusion I'm glad that you're excited and hope you keep up your motivation and progress I'm doing pretty well, a little overeating but not too much and not on too many junky foods. I got most of those out of the house now and need to try not to bring them back in. I tried that Two Ingredient Dough recipe this morning (the one everyone is talking about) and just did a small portion that made 2 nice size bagels. One of them I left plain and the other I added cinnamon and some raisins into it. They both came out really good. I already ate the cinnamon-raisin one and like it. I'm going to toast the plain one later (and probably put some jelly on it ). Each one is only 3 points for me and I think they are only 3 Smart Points too. I was really happy to like this dough since I enjoy baking so much and have missed doing it. Now I can easily make some things. I might try the pizza too and I was thinking about a jalapeno-cheddar bagel. I only used 1/2 cup of self rising flour and 1/2 cup of nonfat greek yogurt and that made the two bagels - in case anyone is wondering about portions. If you want any more details about how I made them, just ask. I watched a video on You Tube last night where a lady made cinnamon rolls using the dough, but I need to stay away from that! Hope everyone is doing well on their plans and that you have a great weekend.

cj59, That's right! I couldn't remember Momentum. I showed up in PointsPlus, so my WW history gets a little fuzzy I gave FreeStyle two weeks and gained weight so I'm back on PP, but I am always supportive of people that want to try something new. There are so many plans that there has to be one for everyone, right? And that dough sounds awesome! I'm a baking fanatic too so maybe I'll give it a whirl. I am down 1.7 this week! And already making big plans for when I'm down 50 lbs this year (a might ambitious, but I am nothing if not a dreamer). I just renewed my subscription of my PP app last night, so I am good to go until 2019, The Year of Slenderness! This is the year of the Sugar Vampire trying to be good and not massacre Candy Town. I had water with dinner last night, so my baby goal this week is only one soda a day, and one vegetable a day. I do pretty good on fruit (there's that Sugar Vampire again) so the veggies are the challenge. Which is silly because those microwavable steamed veggies are so easy and tasty! I have been doing amazing on exercise though because Zumba is just so much fun (especially at home, in the comfort of my own pajamas). I hope everyone has a great week sticking to your goals!

Logging in to say hi Still OP and hanging in there. The biggest challenge is dd is in Girl Scouts and we have cookies coming in the beginning of March. I have to work a cookie booth in March and push the cookies. I bought 4 boxes, but I know dh and ds will help take care of those. cj59, I hope you are doing better with the overeating and having a better day irisinnia, I am doing Momentum too. I also read you post on the general boards and totally agree with you. Weight watchers just wants to change every two years to bring in new customers. There my be some science behind it, but all their plans going back to Momentum were good solid plans that worked.

Hello Everyone irisinnia - I'm glad you've found a program that works for you. You have good goals for this year, I know you can achieve them! Good for you getting in exercise too. I make myself do something each day otherwise I'd sit around and do nothing. I wish I could break some of my sugar habit, I need to work on that. leesa - I'm glad you're still OP and hanging in there. Those GS cookies are dangerous, aren't they. For the first year I was working at losing weight I refused to bring any in the house, but last year I did buy a few boxes. The Thin Mints are only 1 point for Momentum, so I was able to control them pretty well. I like the Samoas too, and I think they are only 2 points. It's just tough to portion them out, but I'm sure you can do it! I used to be a GS leader, many, many years ago. I hope your DD does well with her sales and that her troop sales are good too I'm doing pretty well today, fighting to stay on track. I've had a few days without overeating, but it's tough not to do it. Fortunately I don't have many junk foods to overeat, so if I did overeat at least it would be on healthier foods. I was fortunate when I was first losing weight that each week I usually saw a loss (being so heavy). But know that I'm trying to get back off 5-10 pounds that I regained, and I'm a lower weight, it's really hard. I'm sure my body is resisting it too. Just have to keep working at it I guess.

Just checking in for the day. I weighed-in this morning and gained again this week, that's two weeks in a row. I did have a few bad days this week, but overall I had 4-5 good days.
I'm a little frustrated. It seems like what I was doing before isn't working now. I don't know if my body has just adjusted to what I'm doing and maybe I need to shake things up or if I'm underestimating what I'm eating.
I think I'm going to try double tracking calories and points for a bit and see if I can figure out what's going on.
I hope everyone else checking in is doing well on their plans.

leesa, cj59, That's awesome that you're both doing Momentum! I think that doing old plans helps inspire people to do what works for them, there should be an old plans thread leesa, GS cookies are the toughest! My mother sent me a photo of her 'haul' and I was glad that I 'only' bought three boxes!! Good luck on your boothing! Don't forget a healthy snack! cj59, Overeating is a big problem for me. I have to portion everything and then physically remove myself from the table - and sometimes even that doesn't help. I feel for you at the end there. I'm very nervous about getting close to goal and the weight loss slowing down. Keep your successes going! I am struggling, since I overate on Sunday. I'm still feeling a little out of control today, I'm going to have to plan out tomorrow and stick to my dailies to get that control back. I want to lose weight more than I want to eat, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

cj59, *hugs* That is frustrating, but your action plan is solid. It's not so much the problems as it is how you deal with them. You're doing great!

Hi irisinnia - That's a good way to think about it that you want to lose weight more than you want to eat. I think I had that mindset for the first 2 years of my losing weight and it really helped. Unfortunately now that I'm at goal I feel myself wanting to slip back into my old ways of eating. I've lost and gained a large amount of weight (over 100 pounds) at least 4 times in my life and I don't want to do that again. So I really fight with myself knowing I can't eat everything I want and still keep the weight off. I had a sort of revelation this morning. I realized that I was in a rut with my exercise and the way I eat too. I really need to shake it up, since doing the same old thing isn't working for me right now. So I did some different exercise today and I'm double tracking my calories and points so I can figure out how much I can realistically eat to lose the pounds I need to get back where I feel comfortable and how much I can eat to maintain my weight. Just hope I can stay strong through this month and then I can get a good idea of my daily/weekly food amounts. Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans

Hi sunrose - Welcome back, hope you had a wonderful time in Florida I'm doing pretty well today. I feel more motivated to stay on track, so hopefully I can keep this going. I'm a little worried about going grocery shopping tomorrow. I just don't seem to have any resistance to buying junk food when I'm shopping. But I'm going to try to resist it. Hope everyone else checking in is doing well.

Good morning
cj59, hope the shopping went well. I don't always do the best shopping. Vacation was fun. I ate stuff that I shouldn't have, but I did exercise and tried to be somewhat good.

Hi sunrose - I made it through my shopping without buying a bunch of junk food. I also sadly passed by all the fast food places I used to love to eat at It's great that you were able to get some exercise while on your vacation. I guess there are some people that can pass up all the "special" food we have a chance to eat on vacation, but I know I'm not one of them. So I guess we just learn to make the best choices and then deal with it afterwards. This is what I've been doing with trying to lose the weight I gained over the holidays. I don't regret the food I ate, but it sure is tough taking the weight back off. Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans
