Lisa, I always use my phone as a hot spot when we travel—-but to do so the phone needs wifi not just cellular so I couldn’t even do that.
I watched the pairs dance finals last night—loved the Canadian couple who got gold and so glad US sibling team got a medal.
Did lots of reading—yikes—so stressful but so good.
When I got up at 6:50 this morning it was only 33 degrees—we are supposed to be that low at night all week. Garden won’t be growing mmuch—-just hope it survives. Breezy today as well. I am going to pilates and easy yoga—hoping my back does okay—-will do another Epsom salts bath after. Tomorrow is haircut—thank goodness—that last week of too long is so miserable.
Ok gotta go.

Lisa, how does the new program count cottage cheese?
I sent JoAnne a Text message from FB—hope she is okay as it is not like her to be absent from here so long.

Hi!
Nice sunny day here, hope that we missed the worst of winter while away.
Joan, has DGD heard from SUNY or Ailey yet? How is your back?
Lisa, when I worked, I always made big batches of vegetables, grains on the weekend that I would eat for lunch during the work week.
I have a device called Karma that I bought, it's a wifi hotspot that I can connect my devices to. I buy gigs and I use it whenever my Verizon wifi is not working. Unfortunately it doesn't work for international travel, hopefully someday it will.
Hope Jojo is ok.
The whole trip will be more than 56 days because we'll spend some time in Sydney, and we also need to fly to LA so we need to be there at least a full day beforehand, can't risk any flight delays or cancellations. We're using SO's mileage points for flights. For once we are able to use them because we are planning this trip so far in advance, not usual for us to do that.
I read that cruises are becoming more and more popular as baby boomers are getting older and wanting to go on cruises.
Got my car inspected yesterday. Tomorrow will go see my parents and help them with some stuff around the house

Joan, that makes sense for needing wifi. I will check out the skating. Sounds like such a healthy yummy meal.
Joan, for 1 cup of cottage cheese: fat free: 3 points, low fat: 3 points, reduced fat: 5 points, regular: 6 points
1 cup seems like a copious serving to me.
Sue, thanks for the veggie tip. A work friend today said she does the same. I don't like cooked veggies from the fridge much after 2 days, but I can freeze portions. I have heard of many people going on cruises. Do you know of some people that get a bit antsy being based on a boat for some days?

Sue, cruise BF’s bought one of those travel hot spots and it is for interenational—-i think it was only about $200—they used it all over the Philippines and in Hong Kong—she posted to FB and everything—they said it worked just perfect. Might be a good gift for SO to give you for all your travels—-selfishly then we get to hear all about your trip!
I stayed in the back in yoga today so that I could modify a bit for my back—did okay but did all foreward bends with slightly bent knees. And I did not go down all the way on the warriors.
Lisa, thanks for info about the cottage cheese—-I love having 3/4 cup of low fat cot. Ch with chopped apple and cinnamon and a bit of sugar (half tsp.) for breakfast. Just wanted a sense of how it was stacking up compared to overall points for a day.

Heard from JoAnne—-she is okay—is in Houston without her computer.
Feeling sad—looks like my little baby veggies froze last night and my lettuce—-so bummed. Made the mistake of having them wet and the ground just froze solid even under the covers. Will have to start over when it warms up—winter in late Feb in Vegas—had no winter till now!

Well when the site went inactive, all my post was lost.
I'm home. Sorry for beinging out of touch for so long. Forgot my computer. Trip was good. I will make this short as I had typed a long post and lost it. Houston in slowing recovering but a lot of empty lots where houses and buildings torn down. Some have rebuilt. A lot of empty houses. Kids will be looking for new house soon - apt. lease expires. DS is trying to get assignment in Nigeria where he will rotate like Angola and family can stay in Houston. DDIL will be happy since she can remain near her family.
Good to be home!
I have appt with cardiologist on the 1st. Called to office yesterday to see if any cancellations for sooner appt. None availaable. I guess since I am a new pt. I have to have a special slot. Sure would like to get it over with. Getting a little better each day but still having chest pain and not able to do much.
Knitting socks like crazy. Better each time I make one. The yarn is 75% wool and 25%silk.
I need to go back and read all the posts. Looks like Sue has a new trip planned!

Hi!
Rainy and dreary most of the week here. Have been watching Olympics, a fan of curling now! The mens finals was so good.
Jojo, glad that you are doing ok and that you had a good time in Huston
Joan, sorry about all your vegetables What kind of device/hot spot did your friends get for their cruise?
Holly, hope you're not still sick, a lot of people back home here are sick
Lisa, I have never met someone who had been on a cruise ever say they didn't like it or were bored.
I've heard plenty of people who have never been on a cruise say that they think they would be bored, or that crusiing is just not for them.
SO is very organized with this trip, already has all our flights arranged and hotels in both LA and Sydney, all of it using mileage points or hotel points.
Got my mom set up with a smart phone, she never wanted one - she's not into high tech stuff, is barely on a laptop. But her old phone died and I had an old galaxy s4 that is in pretty good condition,
Not much going on, just usual household chores, cooking, gym.

Sue, I’ve only done two cruises but I think it’s sort of like learning how to cruise—the first two days DH and I were like, “it’s okay, don’t need to do again.” And then we discovered the shows and the nightlife and realized we had not been aware of what was really offered—sort of changed our daily/nightly routines and discovered it was fun—not the same as other traveling but unique in its own way.
DH thinks my veggies are going to survive—maybe—we will see—
Went to my yoga friend’s new show (Earl Turner, her DH, is a musician and singer and performer on cruises and in Vegas) with his long time musician friend Clint Holmes (two of his new CD”s were nominated for a Grammy (his song Say Something is on one) and it was a great show—the two of them together is really cool—the musicians were just amazing. We were comped by my friend so was a nice treat. Went with another yoga buddy and her DH. DH really enjoyed it, too, and is feeling good around my friend’s DH since we have now done a few concerts together and some dinners together—at first he just doesn’t totally relax but this morning said he really enjoys their company now. That is good—never good to have just one or two couple friends in my mind—plus I really enjoy this friend.
Having issues steaming and frothing my milk for capaccinos lately so watched a couple YouTube videos and made one and it was less successful! So weird since in the beginning I was getting such nice foam on top! Such big problems! LOL
Yesterday went and visited WW BF and took her some salted peanut butter cookies, biscotti and banana bread—we sat and had tea and caught up—-her DH had a recent heart attack and then a pace maker surgery—and she is just so trapped in caretaking—needed a break. Her DH is older—he is now 84 and twice she has already called an ambulance because his BP has dropped so low! So hard.

ugh! my computer froze and I lost everything.
Will try to remember what I have written:
Raining here but temps in the 70's. Day before yesterday I blew some leaves and if the weather stays warm, maybe I can do the front yard next week. I am back up to 128 - probably due to lack of physical activity aubt some may be water wt. I have noticed some sweeling in my ankles. I have not changed any eating habits.
Joan - when I went to the GI doc he referred me to the cardiologist to get clearance before he does any of his testing. He wants to make sure that I didn't have an underlying cardiac problem that was compromised by the anemia. That appt. is March 1.
Went out to dinner tonight with some people in our new Life Group at church. Good to get to know some of the people in the church better. Met a couple last night that attend our church also at a dinner with our old Bridge group. The friend who had the dinner invited her next door neighbor who turned out to go to our church. This is one of the advantages of going to a church in our neighborhood instead of one so far away'.
Sue -I am watching the new season of The Walking Dead. Can't believe that Carl is dying. Maybe they will find a cure for him! Doesn't look like they will though.
Joan - how unusual that it is so cold there and so warm here!

Paid bills tonight. It always feels good to get that done.
Is anyone watching the new Victoria series? It is so good!

Good morning everyone!
JoAnne, I have not yet started to watch the next Victoria season—told DH just yesterday that if he does not come out in the great room to watch with me soon, I will proceed without him—we had watched the first season together. He hangs out in the den and watches movies in the evenings—-I finally gave up and watched the next season of Frankie and Grace without him—just finished that last night.
I’m sitting here icing my back and my knee—woke up with it bothering me and I have class in an hour and a half—pilates and yoga today—will go easy on myself and hope to do okay. Yesterday did my body sculpt with lighter weights and my senior dance and then came back and soaked in Epsom salts in the afternoon and took a nap—really—so unusual for me to do that but I was so exhausted—had stayed up too late three nights in a row and wiped out!
I am going to call an orthopedic guy today who DH has seen before and try to get in for appt—he usually has a 2 month wait—hope to get luckier than that. I think I need PT to somehow readjust my hamstring—it is so tight I cannot straighten my leg overhead—used to be able to pull it in toward my chest lying down—still can on the left. I think that is messing up my back and my knee totally.
Very gray gloomy day here—with chance of snow flurry again—crazy spring winter in Vegas! It is only 46º out there.
DH has other eye done on Thursday, Dr follow up on Friday, I have eye exam (routine) on Friday and Friday night go to a clay class—handbuilding to make a platter. Tomorrow DGS13 comes and stays with us a few days while his mom is gone to FLorida. Busy week!

Hi all,
I still have some lingering effects from the viral infection I had last week—mainly a cough. Also, not sure why, but I have so little energy. Need to start exercising again.
Just finished Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on Netflix. Such a good show. Very relevant even though it went off air almost 20 years ago.
Sue, that will be a great trip I’m sure. I wouldn’t mind going on a cruise somewhere, but not necessarily a tropical cruise.
Joan, how is your older DGS doing?
Jo Anne, it’s comforting to have a close church family that has your back when you need them. Hope the cardiology appointment goes well.
