Hi!
Another sunny and warm day here, did not even need winter coat the past 2 days. Volunteered yesterday, back to my usual schedule. An ex-colleague stopped by with her 5 week old baby boy and then we went out for a walk. She and her DH, a partner where I used to work, live 2 blocks away.
Joan, great that your DH is getting more comfortable with your yoga friend's husband. Is your WW bf's husband the one that didn't take good care of himself and ate poorly/no exercise? Hope you can see the ortho doc soon.
Jojo, I am back to 128 as well, and I kept up with my exercise the entire time. I'm so bummed they killed off Carl, I don't see the point of it.
Holly, I watched that star trek series 20yrs ago and liked it.

Sue- weather great here too! Sounds like you are to make another cruise. Where will you be going? I'm thinking they are going to keep the little boy that is with Carol as sort of a Carl replacement. They will probably have him grow up on the show as Carl did.
Holly - didn't realize you had been sick. Glad that you are fairing better. Are you knitting anything now. I am still doing socks. On my third pair. This is a varigated pair.-
Joan- Hope that the orthopedic doc can help you. Have fun with the visit from your DGS Your DH must behaving cataract surgery. How does he like the eye he has had done?
I went to the Cardiologist today. I am scheduled for a Thallium treadmill on the 8th, an Echocardiogram on the 9th, and followup on the 15th. Keeping me busy! He heard the murmur that I have always had but is not always heard. Never has been a problem for me. All these test - really stringing out this anemia episode!

Lying on my back on ice—I stood in my kitchen a lot this afternoon making wonton soup—made stock from chicken and veggies—standing or sitting too long always causes the back to start feeling really crappy. Had to sit while waiting for DH—surgery fine—he was way more groggy after and slept over 3 hours afterwards. I take him in for FU at 1 pm tomorrow—will go to my classes in the morning—dance and weights.
DGS is at his friends—they are trying to learn to play dungeons and dragons and it surprises me—DGD’s have so much homework they would never be able to visit a friend during the week. Last night he said he had none either; he is in eighth grade and that seems nearly impossible to me. Tomorrow he stays with this same friend since I have my clay class evening—then Sat we will go to a movie with him.
DGD17 drove to SF today by herself for the first time ever for her audition with Lines Ballet School—in a bad storm—was so worried but she made it and did okay and made it back to Sacramento.
Sue how would you flavor wonton soup broth? This recipe only called for soy sauce, a little sesame oil and salt and pepper. Just wondered what you would use. The soup turned out quite good—-I needed to put a little more salt in it but that was easy to do.
Holly I did not realize you were sick—there’s been so much stuff going around this year—DH and I have really been lucky so far. Every time I thought I was getting a cold it did not develop—knock on wood!

hI. Joan, the hot spot sounds great. Sorry about your veggies. Sounds like a great show.
Jojo, I hope your heart and health are ok. That yarn sounds luxurious and warm.
Sue I know a couple of people who went on a cruise and weren't crazy about it. One really said it wasn't for her and the other thought was fine but not her 1st choice of vacation. I think I could get into one if I were in pure vacation mode.
Holly I hope you are feeling better.
Nothing special here. I need to get some tests done too, but have a hard time getting to. making appointments; Weight is stable after quick loss of recently gained 5 lbs. I'm on WW again. 1st 3 weeks was 2 lbs per week loss. Great! 4th week 1 lb gain. Stable now. Hopefully there will be a little bit more loss, just a few pounds.
I so often feel tired after eating!

Hi! Snow here today, started raining yesterday, through the night and snow today. Very wet snow though,so not sticking very much, a lot of wind and many trees down. It's worse in the suburbs.
Went out last night with my Sue friends and another HS friend, one that I'm not as close to. Since all 3 are out in the suburbs I drove out there for dinner. Restaurant is close to my sister's house so I visited with her before dinner.
Jojo, it's just best to get these tests out of the way. I remember all the tests that I went through with the HBP, what an ordeal, but glad that they ruled things out.
Joan, you could add some ginger and heat the soup up to infuse with some ginger flavor, also sprinkle some sliced scallions. Sometimes I sprinkle a little rice vinegar for a little tartness, and also hot pepper oil if you like spicy. I love spicy
Lisa, I think one has to be careful with the choice of cruiseline. I'm pretty sure I would not enjoy it as much on some other cruiselines I have read about.
I also have to make some appointments, but have been putting them off.

Sue, I did put fresh scallions on top—-love scallions. I thought about adding a little heat—we finished it off tonight—also had it for lunch (I did).
Going to my claybuilding class in a few minutes.
DGD17 did not get into the BFA in NC—was very disappointed. Starting to worry about this.

Had so much fun doing the clay last night—he had us make large mugs instead of platters—lots more to learn and more opportunity for some different clay training with a mug—they are really large as he said that is easier to learn with. We only built—if we want to glaze it ourselves we go back down in a couple weeks and do that. I plan to go with my friend who took us and glaze my own. Am thinking I will sign up for an 8 week session. Nice to learn something new and fun to get around some more people with new perspectives.

Hi all,
Beautiful day today. I have been cleaning up around the house and doing laundry. Need to get my taxes together, but am putting it off.
We’ve had a lot of illnesses, including the flu, at work. I think it’s finally leveled off.
Joan, what school is that? I did a face mug class last year. It was fun.
Jo Anne, I am knitting a lace scarf. Kudos to you on making socks.
Sue, sounds like a nice dinner.
Lisa, congrats on the weight loss so far.

Lisa- Good that you are keeping your wt. intact like that. With my recent health issues, I have let mine go up again (although it is not beyond my rescuihg if I tried.
Joan - I am so sorry to hear of the back issues. Be careful with those wts. and dance! You are alwsays cooking up something good (like Sue!)
Holly, I have some patterns for lace scarves but just haven't had the incentive to try anything large yet. I may try something else next. The socks are finially looking pretty good and are now fun to make. I absolutely LOVE my new rolling cart to store all my yarn and knitting and crocheting tools and patterns. I have so many patterns and pattern books!
Sue - Snow there! The weather here has been mild and more seasonable. Things are really blooming and greening up. I want to be well for the Spring!
Went to Olive Garden after church yesterday. Italian is our favorite although not the healthiest! I had Chicken Giardino - ummm good! It had a light lemon sauce and a lot of veggies. The pasta was a ribbon type but I didn't eat a lot of the pasta. Wed. night, our church is starting once a month to have family dinners - supposedly family friendly HEALTHY dinners - we will see what this means. We are going. It is only $7 each and a team is doing all the cooking.
I have GOT to start collecting the things for my taxes. I always hate the time involved in this.llllllllll

Morning all!
Sitting here with my coffee—DGS13 is back home now—picked up his mom at airport last night about 8:30–now I need to eat right—OMG, DGS and I made his fav cookies—oatmeal raisin—and I ate cookies like an idiot—DGS ate nine yesterday from noon on—took four in his lunch. Anyway, the scale is up a big jump—was not going to weigh for two days but thought I better shock myself and look at what I’d done! So today will be a no sugar, high protein day. Hopefully by the weekend I’ll be back to my old self! We also just ate differently—last night had leftover lasagna (frozen from Christmas), night before chicken Parmesan, night before that I had 3 falafel balls and hummus and pita and had had some pita and hummus at lunch—wow, that is more bread and pasta than I have had in four months total! Just cannot do that and throw in a batch of cookies on top! Oh well, was a fun run!
Today I will take out some salmon and just bake it for tonight with a salad on the side.
Yesterday I did 11,000 steps tho, body sculpt, and dance—and had a massage—moving and the massage improved my back—it was so knotted up from the spasms—took an epsom soak last night before bed. Today I will do pilates carefully and do the gentle yoga stretch class. I got my new brooks walking shoes so will take an afternoon walk as well.
Holly, the NC school was in Winston-Salem? I think. Not sure. DGD17 called and asked if I would be willing to escort her and a friend to NYC on July 2 for a two week dance intensive—I will gladly—and spend some time showing her friend the “ropes” in terms of getting around NYC cause her mother is afraid she will be overwhelmed and DGD will be in dance classes for four hours a day—so I will go and stay about 5 days and then they will be on their own for a week or so before heading home—will be fun! DGD will only do the short intensive. If she does not get into a BFA for dance she may accept the certification program from Alvin Ailey and only do dance for a year and then apply after a more intensive dance perspective. AA has already invited her to do that program. It is much cheaper than college classes and would mean delaying college a year but she is about a year younger than her classmates anyway.
Our neighbors are moving out today—they sold their house for cash and were given only five days to move out! Sad to see them go—he has been our neighbor since we were all built—19 1/2 years ago.

Hi!
Expecting another snow storm here tonight. Hope my sister and parents don't lose electricity again. My sister just got it back yesterday.
Yesterday went to my parents and went with them to my dad's Dr appt. It's a all day thing every time I go out there. It's not so far but traffic is so terrible these days.
This morning did my volunteer work. It is such physical work that I'm wiped out for a few hours afterward. I did go to the gym after resting.
Joan, glad your back is finally feeling better, still be careful with it. Has DGD heard from all the schools yet? There is a clay studio a few blocks from my house, my sister went there years ago when she lived in this area, before the kids.
Jojo, glad that socks are turning out well. Are you still practicing the violin?

Sue,, Cruise BF’s are in town for a few days so DH got the name of their portable hot spot that works out of country as well—-it is Skyroam.
Did my regular yoga class and weights this morning—slept so well last night and felt great this morning but right before leaving for gym, I moved just a bit to sit down and my back started tightening up like it was going into spasms again—really tightening my core stopped it but I was worried about yoga—stayed in the back and was very cautious going into foreward bends and a couple other moves—by end of class it was considerably looser. I got a call from the chiropractic/pilates rehab guy my masseuse thinks could help me—am going to see him at 3:30 today—I don’t really like chiropractors but she said he is not the bone crunching type—does not believe that is the answer to everyone’s issues—so because I really trust her I am going to go. Insurance of course will not cover it. So will not cancel my Tuesday appt with the orthopedic guy as I may want to have a referral to the pilates PT place I learned about the other day. That would be covered.
Made black rice last night with Japanese sweet potato chunks and sauteed onion, snow peas, yellow sq, and red pepper—-was so good—-had leftovers of it for lunch. Love the chewiness of the black rice.
Gloomy and cool here today. Our friend whose wife (friend of mine from childhood on) died of Alzheimer’s a few years ago is coming to Vegas this weekend and I will have them to dinner—he has a friend now—on Saturday plus we are going out to see O—Cirgque du Soleil — on Wednesday with him and his whole family to celebrate his 75th birthday. His daughter wants us to spend time Saturday working on him to make better use of his iphone7—he does not text and it drives her crazy. Also he does not have his hearing aides paired with the phone so she said it is nearly impossible to have a conversation with him on the phone. He listens to us pretty good on technology—have helped him before.

Ha ha here we are still posting in March!
Sue, I hope the weather is better for you.
Holly, thank you! Were you spared the flu?
Jojo, health issues can really make it harder to get exercise.
Joan, I'm sorry about your neighbours. I hate losing a good neighbor. I'd be interested in hearing how the phone tutoring goes. I have a family member who has a hard time with it despite best of intentions.
Weight is stable. I think I need to tweak the new WW, just as I had to before.
back in 2011 they had just Made something like 35 pp plus 35 wp, and suggested eating them all. Impossible for me without gaining; Even the 35 even with WO didn't work. I Had to cut back to 27 AVERAGE WO included to make it work. This was not unusual for other people of small stature at the time.
Not sure how to work it at present. It's weird they don't have ANY ww board anymore to share about this and get tips.
I love the easy satiation with much unlimited low fat protein, fruit, veggies, corn, peas and beans, AND it did help me lose a quick 5-7 recently gained pounds, quickly and, seemingly rather stably,
it also has me reducing sugar and fruit drinks drastically which can only be good, BUT it seems like I MAY need to tweak something to continue to lose a bit OR raise my maintenance level.
Hmmmm.
I'm about 123 lbs. 5 foot 2.5 inches, 54 years old. My bmi is 22.5. Hmmm

Wow, Lisa—am wondering why you would want to lose more—at 5 ft WW has my top number as 128–and your BMI is way, way low. Do they think you need to lose more? Maybe your body is trying to tell you that it is where it should be?
I went to a doctor at my masseuse’s recommendation—I have always complained that no specialists deal with muscles—only bones but so often the bones get out of alignment because of the wrong muscles being overworked or over strong or over weak. Well this guy is a chiropractor but he has gone all over the world to learn other ways of dealing with muscle/body issues. He spent 1 1/2 hrs with me for $150–best buy ever! He agreed with my panic that my right leg is changing drastically and explained why—it is longer than the left—part of the problem is scoleosis which I was found to have at age 14-=—hip is more turned in and higher, the body is trying to compensate for this long leg—he literally did a few things that moved my kneecap in somewhat and I immediately had strength in my inner thigh again and could resist his pressure without pain—so I have two intense exercises that are all I am allowed to do until I see him on Monday—then he assesses what happened from doing those and will give me a regimine and tell me what I am not to do in my classes and what is good to do. No gym until I meet again. He also texted my masseuse and I have to go to her on Tuesday and he is now directing what muscles she works on. He said if I continue to go without help I will definitely end up with a knee replacement—and it is not necessary. I am bone on bone but my knee does not hurt because I move so much which he loves. It is the muscles and tendons around the outside of the knee that are hurting so bad because the knee is turning out and misaligned. The exercises took about an hour or more to do last night—lots of reps—a modified bridge of which I do 40 a day—and in such a way that the only muscles I can use are core and gluts—not legs. I feel somewhat sore today after doing them last night. The other one is a stretching thing—still hard cause it begins with a compression.
He said the combination of the 2 hrs of forward bends followed next day by 5 miles of walking did me in—but he said these things were going to happen anyway—that just speeded up the process and three the QL muscle into trauma.
Anyway, I was really impressed with him—he said I should have had a lift in my shoes for much longer than one year (had that when I was a freshman in hs) and then I should have had therapy to build up certain muscles. Having been heavy for many years from age 27 or so till age 64 made everything worse. The good news though is that he was amazed at my strength and my level of exercise—says what he teaches me to do will have to be done forever so that I do not use the wrong muscles while walking especially. And then I can do just fine—so now I will be exercising before I exercise—he said it’s like waking up the right set of muscles before you start.
So I am canceling my orthopedic appt and going with this—it is not covered by insurance but DH and I talked about it and he , too, feels as though this is the kind of information I am looking for—not surgery fixes.
