Well, due to ice ( I guess) on the roads we have a 2 hour delayed opening for school. I probably will not be able to stop in later on, as it makes today a very challenging day having to get everything done in a short amount of time. I am making teriyaki turkey burgers for dinner tonight, think I will get the meat seasoned now to make things easier at the end of the day. Got my Leslie Sansone in this am too.
Have a great morning all G

Ginny, waiting around like that would drive me crazy. The last few years I worked I was on the Infusion therapy team. It was a small team...one person at a time working to cover the hospital.. finally we decided to have a person overlap on the busiest time of day...end of day shift and beginning of evening shift. When it was quiet the evening person got to stay home for that two hours. I never could get anything done and would just kinda sit and wait till time to go in feeling that I really couldn't get anything accomplished in that time.As I look back now there were many things I couldhave been doing.
Your turkey burgers sound good but my dh wouldn't care at all for burgers made of turkey. I don't think he's ever tried them though but he's always said he didn't like ground turkey. We did buy some turkey Italian sausages a couple times and he was surprised to find that he liked those so he probably would like turkey burgers also.
I got the whole outside of the Bible cover done so now just have to make the inside flaps and the pockets and the Cross I'm putting on it then sew it all together. I think that I might get it all done today but that might be a little wishful thinking on my part.
Thank you for starting us off for another week. Snowed here during the night again but not much. It's only 20 degrees but no wind so it feels ok.

I just saw a pattern that is very cute and would be great for children to use when playing outdoors or waiting for the school bus. They show a girl but in different colors it would be perfect for a boy too and would keep the child's head and neck both warm. They say it closes with a snap but I'd use something else or just sew it closed as it's designed to pull over the head www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LM5429-Happy-Hoodie-Free-Crochet-Pattern.pdf

Hello Crafters Ruth - that is a cute pattern, I bet any little boy or girl would like it. I'm glad you've made so much progress on your bible cover, hope you can get it done soon. Ginny - I'm glad you had a delayed arrival for your safety and the children's safety too. Sorry it throws your day off. I've tried making turkey burgers, and buying frozen ones, a few times and just can't seem to like them. I do like Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage crumbles and Turkey meatballs though. Phyl - I'm glad you were able to get some crafting done. Maybe the nice thing for Nancy Zieman's grandchildren would be that they have all these videos of their grandmother showing how to sew and quilt and hopefully they'll be able to watch them all their lives. Meg - Hope you are getting in some crafting and having nice weather. It's cold and sunny here today, a nice change after all the rain yesterday. I think this week isn't supposed to be too cold, which is nice for February. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Ruth, yes its an art to figuring out what to do with time when you drive a school bus. My life- or certain aspects of it- is broken into the interval of time needed to accomplish it- unloading the dishwasher is a 5 t0 10 minute job, starting a load of laundry a 5 minute job, vacuuming is a 15 to 60 minute job (depending on where I am vacuuming)....you catch my drift. So my mind is already in that kind of though....this am I took the time to get my bible reading in and get the meat and seasonings mixed, plus make the teriyaki sauce you put on the burgers. And I ate my breakfast at a more leisurely pace. You made awesome progress on the Bible cover. Wow.....DGD will love it, I am sure. Thanks for posting the link for the hoodie/hat. Its adorable- but completely out of my league in difficulty. Such an adorable project though.
CJ-guess you are not getting the snow we are supposed to have on Wednesday? Glad for you- and hope that the milder weather continues for you to enjoy. I totally agree with you that Nancy Ziemann’s grandchildren are blessed to have all those videos of her. Not the same as having her with them but still a wonderful way to remember their grandma.
My terrific turkey burgers are on taste of homes web site- and the meat used is half turkey, half ground beef. Even Dh likes them and he usually hates turkey burgers. What makes them great is the sauce that you make to put on them. Very yummy.
Looks like maybe we will have some snow on Wednesday- and enough to close school..
Enough blabbering from me. Have a wonderful evening G

I don't know what happened to the message I typed out earlier.it's sure not here. It was a re to CJ's post. I'm glad to see you CJ and glad the cold rain is gone. I hate cold rain. I'd rather have snow.Do you have fun things planned for this week since it's going to be fairly good weather wise?
I've been looking up vision centers near us. Dh needs to have an eye exam. He usually goes to Walmart because it's the cheapest but the doctor that's at the walmart near us is one I've had contact with and he is terrible. I don't know why he's still there. We hate to have to drive over to the other Walmart and know nothing about the doctor they have there now. I want him to see someone that's good not just cheap. I emailed some of the places. Couldn't call because my phone battery is dead. I heard back from one but they gave me a very unsatisfactory answer so that one is out.
Ginny, yes, since you've been driving awhile I imagine you have had to plan to do things in the short bursts of time you have throughout the day.
I'm going to look up that recipe. With half turkey it would probably be something dh would eat and I imagine the sauce would be good on other meats also. Thanks for mentioning it. I need all the help I can get.

choney2,gramma15,cj59 & Phyl,
I didn't do much today just went to school to pick Devin up this afternoon. I did some knitting last night as I watched "Victoria" on PBS. I had never paid much attention to Queen Victoria but I am enjoying this series. I grew up in Belfast and there are many memorials to be found there. At the Royal Victoria Hospital there is a huge statue of her there as an elderly woman. I think she was still in her teens when she became the Queen of England. Probably not of much interest to you all. I need to get back to crocheting my other b/blanket and perhaps I will tonight before I go to bed.
Ginny, I am glad you didn't have to go to work early. I know I would be nervous driving a bus load of kids on an icy road. I hope your teriyaki burgers were enjoyed by your family. Looks like a day off if you have more snow on Wed.
Ruth, I am glad you got your bible covered finished. I am sure it looks great and will work well for you with the handles. So what ids your next project? I don't think I would like turkey burgers though the teriyaki sauce probably would make them taste good. I think I know the style hat you mentioned are they called helmets? Sorry you lost your post. I hate when that happens.
cj, I hope you continue to get warm and sunny weather and that it doesn't get too cold.
Phyl, hope all is well with you. Be well and take care.

Good mornng!
Ruth, if you have trouble finding the recipe I can drag a link here for it- I have difficulty doing that on the IPAD but its a breeze on the computer to do so. WHen I make it, I double the sauce.... and sometimes that is not enough. THink I have also made the recipe with all beef- again cause its spiced up a bit, its not at all a plain burger.
Meg,I too am enjoying the Victoria series. For the most part, its historically correct....sounds like a lovely thing for you to watch as it allows you to revisit England without having to leave home.. I enjoy shows like that becasue I will most likely never be able to visit overseas. I like learning about history while being entertained....and will miss the show when its over for the season. ‘ Got some crochetting in last night. Now have to watch DGS. G

Good afternoon all.
Meg, I would enjoy that series bt never think anymore to turn to PBS. When in college I took a course on history of England and it was interesting.
No I don't have the while Bible cover done, just the front and now one of the flaps. I didn't get all done that I had thought I would do because of other things coming up that I had to take care of or that I wanted to do so maybe today.
Ginny, no I can go to the site and get the recipe..no problem...but thank you so much for telling us about it. In fact I'm going to go now right as soon as I finish here. I do hope you get a snow day off. It would be great if it was at the beginning or end of the week so you could have a long weekend but I bet you're glad for any unexpected time off.

Ginny, is it the one with crushed pineapple in the burgers and in the sauce? I don't know if my dh would go for that but if I made it and he didn't know what was in it I'm sure he'd like it after tasting.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I hope your burgers turned out good, I'll have to check out that recipe. Even though I said I didn't care for the ground turkey I was looking in my cabinet and saw that I had a package of taco seasoning and thought maybe I should try that with some ground turkey. I hope your weather isn't too bad tomorrow and you have safe travels. Thanks for mentioned Leslie Sansome the other day. I always forget that I have several of her DVDs, so I pulled one out today and did a few walks from it. It's nice to do something different. You also asked me about blogs that I liked from the Slow Stitching Sunday page. I don't have any particular favorites, but I like to see the ones that do hand quilting and embroidery. I also refresh each of the pages so I can see their earlier posts. There are several posting from Canada and overseas and it's interesting to see what they are working on. Meg - I'm enjoying the Victoria show too. I always tend to think of Queen Victoria towards the end of her life, I guess because there are more photographs of her at that age. It's been interesting to see here as a young woman. I'm thankful for PBS, I watch several shows on that network. Hope your blanket is coming along. Ruth - I hope you can find a good eye doctor for your husband. I go to one at a small Vision Center and even though I pay a bit more, it's worth it to me to have an actual doctor check my eyes instead of just an Optician. My father had several eye diseases that caused him to lose most of his sight near the end of his life, and I want to keep on top of that with my eyes. It's tough finding medical professionals that are good these days. Phyl - I hope you are getting in some crafting. I receive emails from Nancy's Notions and received one today talking about the big quilt show they have in May in Wisconsin. Have you ever been to that? I actually did some work on a quilt today! I was so excited to be motivated to do that again I pieced the last three strips sets of fabric that I had for a quilt I started on back in November. I'm hoping tomorrow that I can press the strip sets and get them cut into blocks. I think there are only going to be about 25-30 blocks at about 6-7 inches in size, so this top should piece together quickly. I'm glad I felt like doing this, I'd almost forgotten how to use my sewing machine. While I was sewing I was thinking that I need to set some goals for this year, like I did last year. It always helps me to do that. The weather here is cloudy and cold and we're supposed to get rain tomorrow, maybe with a wintry mix in the morning. One of the joys of retirement is that I don't have to go out in the rain anymore Take care everyone!

CJ, it's good to see you. I haven't gotten any crafting done today yet but I got a lot of other things done I'm glad you got your inspiration for quilting back again. You'll be so happy to make more quilt tops and see what a sewing artist you are. The idea to make goals is a good one and one I had intentions of doing too. I too didn't follow thru on that so I think I need to sit down and decide on some.Of course we all have goals for each day but we don't usually think of them as goals...just as what we need to get done.I'm going to set one goal for the year in crafting and that is to make that quilt/pillow I keep talking about making for my dgs. When he gets an apartment of his own or goes away to college it will be a nice thing for him to have.Another goal I have to to stop being so selfish and take dh out to the lakes this summer. I prefer to sit at home but he likes to get out and last summer was a complete bust with my IC and my laziness and selfishness.
another thing I want to make is several of those hats I posted the site for, to give to Caps for Kids. They will be great for kids playing outdoors during recess or for walking to school or waiting for the bus. Here they make the kids go outside for recess every day almost in any weather. They're something I can work on between other projects...something I can just pick up at odd moments...And Ginny, no these aren't hard at all. Theyre made flat I think and sewing the seam would take about a minute at most.Yes they look difficult but they really aren't.
Ok now for some crafting...well after I go put the blankets back on the bed.As you know I get tired of a project almost as soon as I start it so I'm getting tired of working on this Bible cover. I need to get it done and move on. Meg, I think next will be a crochet bracelet with beads for dgd and one of the things for ddil but I'm not sure which one it will be yet. I think this evening some mindless crocheting like the bath poufs. All the girls will love those.

OH and CJ, it's been over a year since I've used my sewing machine. I need to get busy on that too as I've probably already forgotten how to sew.

CJ- so glad you got some machine time in...glad you do not have to go out tomorrow in the crummy weather.
Ruth, yes, that is the recipe- crushed pineapple in the sauce. My family loves it also. Good night ladies. See you tomorrow. G
