Phyl, the OM weinermobile was here in our small town a few years back. We happened to go shopping the day it was at one of our grocery stores so we saw it but didn't go look inside or anything.I didn't even know they had a Planter's peanutmobile.
And yes, now that you mention it that song does bring to mind lonely people. Kinda makes you want to find them and cheer them up so that they aren't sad

Good evening!!
Phyl, well I hope you are able to watch the Olympics tonight, there has been a fair amount of skating - plus some skiing and snowboarding. You are so right, the jumps and twists from snow boarding or skiing have to be so tough on the back, knees too!! That is why its fun to watch and we feel none of the pain. Too bad you were not able to get into your play pen today, there are days like that. Thanks for providing the input on living with diabetes, my FIL was a type 2 diabetic and honestly I do not think he monitored things at all. Nor did he want to. Emphysema killed him....nothing to do with his diabetes. Do you feel fully recovered from your procedure? I hope you are feeling well after that first procedure.
CJ- I do have a recipe for Irish Soda bread, if you are interested. Its pretty good too. Glad you figured out just to put a binding on the baby quilts, I am sure they look great and will be loved by who ever gets them. Tomorrow’s crummy weather would be a wonderful time to finish them....if the mood is there for you to quilt.
Ruth, you are absolutely right, the pillow cases will have to wait until I finish the baby afghan. Embroidering is easy- and ther is always YouTube to help fill in what you do not remember. Give the bagels a try. They are not NY bagels, but pretty good. A nice tender inside....and making the “everything” bagel topping is easy looks like my local supermarket has all the ingredients needed for that. Your Dh is so fortunate that you are his care advocate, and can advise him/assist him with food choices. I will continue to pray that hi s blood levels are not significantly different and that he can be treated without complicated medications.
Got some crochetting done while watching the olympics. Hope Meg can check in this weekend! G

Hi everyone,
It has been a stay at home day for me. I was tired because I didn't sleep well last night. I had a burning pain in my foot and it kept me awake so tonight I will take a tylenol3. I haven't been watching the Olympics and I usually enjoy watching. So when I am finished here I will go get my knitting out and start watching. I will probably fall asleep.
cj, I love soda bread, grew up eating it. I think the soda bread I have had here is heavy and I don't know why, could be the flour . It is easy to make but the last time I had soda bread was when I was in Ireland 4 years ago. I love the scones they make over there, they are different than the ones here.

Good morning, Good to hear from you Meg. So sorry that your foot was bothering you so severely. Pain is so much worse at night, I guess becasue there is nothing else to distract us. (Our resident nurse Ruth will I am sure provide me with the real explanation....) Do you think that elevating the foot might reduce the pain a bit? Hope that the olympics did their job and relaxed you- allowing you to sleep.
Irish Soda bread is interesting stuff. The local supermarket sells it- and they sell a lot of it- but I find their version too dense and salty. What I think is a laugher is that so many buy it, when it is so very easy to make. I tried a new recipe about 2 years ago, the local culinary institute suggested that recipe- though that was pretty bad too. A coworker brought in her family recipe (she is Irish)- do not really like that recipe either. So I will stick with what I have, which is also from a former coworker- also Irish. Our Ds’s birthday is St Patricks day. So I do make it every year.
Am probably calling in sick tomorrow to help out babysitting the grandkids. Dh has a cold and does not want to give it to the kids or DD who is pregnant.
Hope to crochet a bit later on while watching the Olympics. Have a great day G

Good morning all. Meg, I'm sorry to hear that a horribly painful foot kept you awake all night.. No I don't know why pain is worse at night but I know it's true that it is. I always worked evening and night shift and gave much more pain medication than the other shifts. Of course I always believed that pain should be relieved where some of the nurses had other ideas and were hesitant to give meds (or maybe too lazy sorry to say)
Ginny, it's probably a great idea for your dh not to be sharing his cold. It's good that you are able to take the day off to help everyone like that.
It's warmer here today but still cold. The weather forecast the other day was completely wrong in their forecast.
I was tired of working on the Bible cover so instead I decided to start the hat I want to make for ddil and I got it all done except for weaving in the two ends. I did modify the pattern some. It's supposed to be a slouchy hat but to me it was just too souchy so I didn't make it as long as the pattern called for and I also made more of a ribbing for the band instead of the way she ended the hat. This pattern too was one in which the designer or the person that wrote out the pattern didn't use the same terms or doesn't know where a turning chain ends and the first stitch begins. She said what you should join in the first dc instead of in the turning chain. However in working the first couple rows I found that she had to have thought that the top of the turning chain was the first dc because she had the number of stitches you shoujld have at the end of each row and if you made your first st as she said you didn't end up with enough stitches. With it in the top of turning chain it was perfect.
They're pretty hats so I may make more. It's called a "textured slouchy"by Jenni Catavu by

hi, yes I did see the skating last night. I have to remember they are 14 hours ahead of us. our Saturday is their sunday. I was a littel sad to see the us American ice dancers (HUSBAN AND WIFE) drop down To 4th 0R 5 th. I am hoping the Sister and brother team can move up. I bet he looks after her and protects her. she is so darn cute.
I did spend a little time in my playpen this am. want to get back down theer but doesn't look like I will make it. went to olive garden for lunch. we had their breadsticks, soup and salad. our favoite meal when it is cold. we don't do this every sunday.
then we went to michale's. they are moving to a different location in town. a lot of stuff is 40% off .I abought a wire basket that holds like 3 mason jars.(these are plastic then I will put artificial flowers in it. will make a nice spring center piece. I got This idea from parade of homes this summer. only hers weer 6 gphyllass jars In a basket with one long stem sunflower In each jar. my flowrs are more for spring and summer.

Phyl- what soup is your favorite at Olive Garden? (Love eating there myself!). What a nice Sunday tradition for you when you can get there. The center piece sounds so country and adorable. Nice becasue you can put either fresh or silk flowers in it....and it will look lovely. Simple and elegant. Even better that you got the basket on sale!!
Ruth, the nice thing about having more than one project going- is you can take a break. The Bible cover, which I am sure will be so pretty has had a few road blocks....and sometimes its a good idea to take a short breather from a project like that -to gain a new perspective. I am sure it will come out great. THe slouchy hat is adorable, and I love how it has several different stitches. So pretty. Think I would shorten it too, but its really really cute. (And a much cuter pattern than my slouchy hat pattern). Glad you were able to figure out the glitch in the pattern. Are you going to contact ravelry or the designer to ask for a modification to the instructions?
Yup- I am baby sitting tomorrow.....gotta go feed Dh and then sit down to some crochetting. G

Hello Crafters meg - I hope your foot is feeling better. I figured you would have had some very good Irish Soda Bread when you were in Ireland Ginny - I have a couple of recipes for the bread too, and you're right it is very easy to make. I would never buy it at the store. It's nice to get a day off work, and hopefully the babysitting tomorrow won't be too tiring. Ruth - Isn't it strange when the weather forecasters get it completely wrong? I'd think with all the technology we have today they shouldn't be that off anymore. Phyl - I'm glad you got to see the Planter mobile and that you purchased some good finds at Michael's. It was raining here again today but the temperature was almost up to 70 degrees! I've just been relaxing and watching TV today. I've been watching several episodes of Air Disasters on the Smithsonian Channel. Even though I planned not to, I don't ever want to fly again! Take care everyone!

Wow, CJ- 70 degrees!!!! That is warm for February. Think watching air disasters would scare the heck out of almost anyone. Lots became afraid of flying after 9/11.... Glad you had a nice relaxing day.

It's good to see all of you
CJ, I talked to my son yesterday and it was almost 70 there too. I've never made Irish soda bread. I may have to try it sometime. Dh eats a lot of bread.
I've only been to Olive Garden one time andd it was back in 2003 or 4. My dh had the all you can eat soup instead of salad and he had minestrone. He liked it.
DH and I were actually schedule to fly to Germany on 9/11. Needless to say we didn't get to go that day but we went on the first available day. Dh was not happy to be going but I didn't think that it would be at all a worry because there wouldn't be two incidents like that so close together.
I was looking for a Cross pattern today. Pinterest again was frustrating with some of the "patterns" being pictures and some that I thought were free were actually ones you had to pay for. It would be easy enough to just make one but I wanted to make one a little more special. I finally found one and it's actually a very simple one that I should have thought of myself. So this evening I'm going to work on my Bible cover.
I hope all of you have a good evening..see you in the new week
