TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C76D9, 8 water, 27 points, all ghgs, 8086 fitbit steps, G15 Y2 R1 January.
Iβm aiming for LP days between now and Columbus and hope to see some results on the scale. I now need to lose 6 pounds for a free WI and that might take forever. I tried the less disciplined approach to little avail. Iβm not sure, actually, why Iβve been arguing with success. The disciplined approached served me well for years. Having said that, Iβd be pleased if IE on occasion would replace the all or nothing mentality when LP is not an option.
I did just say no to several small temptations today. I notice these temptations come up when they cross my vision β so I passed up a Snyder pretzel which DH was munching on and I passed up cashews in a container in one of our kitchen cabinets. I did have a planned ww mini caramel with a glass of milk and then at about 10 PM I succumbed to 2 Kedem tea biscuits (one pt) which explains the 27.
One more thing. I tested my fitbit and found that it does record forward, backward and sideway steps which matched my count exactly, so no point replacing it. Still not sure why my friend's is so different but we'll test them side by side when time allows.
Edesia β OK so today I made a batch of my cauliflower/carrot mixture which I usually season with salt, pepper, onion power and garlic powder. Today I added 1/2 tsp of oregano as well. Not sure I could notice a difference.
Beth β Yep I too should work on disassociating relaxing from eating. Thatβs always been an issue for me β also to stop using food as a procrastinating tool. I do find that the piano and the jigsaw puzzles help to serve both purposes. The other objective is to acknowledge and avoid responding to temptation just because something crosses my path
Cindy β You and I are on the same page β focus, focus, focus. BTW I got the Smucker's SF peach preserves. I enjoyed it on a slice of rye toast this morning for breakfast.
Lori β OMG how awful. And so young. My DGK-14 is in a ski club β so it really hits home. Iβm glad youβve been able to stick to your guns with diet and exercise in light of the understandable sadness youβre having to deal with.

C26. D20. OP. Tracking. Exercising (45 minutes deep stretch yesterday and on my way to the elliptical now for 60min).
On the road and doing fine. Pre-tracking my meals is working very well. Ate half of my box lunch yesterday and saved the other half for today and the small bag of chips for my travel home. I simply feel better when I am eating healthy and in moderation. I am really feeling good.
Nancy and Beth - combining food with relaxation is a big issue for me. And I have to counter the self talk, because while it IS true that I deserve to relax, it is NOT true that relaxing should include treats. But at this point eating a treat is a clear signal to my body that I'm in relaxation mode.
Hi to all who follow.

Good morning! I really need to knock odd the evening eating. Our bathroom is still a work in progress so we still don't have a shower or toilet upstairs. I think the stress and mess catches up with me by the end of the day.
DS took second in the 200 individual medley last night, but was disqualified for his kick in the breast stroke. It's the third time in a row he's been DQ'd for his kick. He's pretty frustrated.
Lori, I can't even imagine the sadness at the school right now. I'm so sorry.

Good Morning BFFs,
Hopefully the sun will be shining today and help lift the mood a little.
I see we can all relate to relax = snack.....for me, it's especially on the weekend. That is probably the time I enjoy a planned snack the most - I just have to stop once that snack is complete...My menthol SF cherry cough drops have been helping with that...
Nancy, I agree there are times we need that discipline and times we have to be flexible while staying in control. Kathy, I love reading your post...you sound totally motivated and in the right mindset!! Jan, I can feel your DSs frustration....that can't be easy to deal with... HI to Beth and all to follow.

Hi Girlfriends: C1D1 Treadmill D1 Okay, today is really the day. Focus 100%! I can do this. Big Gain this week, but had big loss last week. Next week will be different. Nancy, glad you liked it. Going to have to start back with the tablespoon for my treat at night instead of eating DH's food. Jan, know what you mean about the night eating. I'm either going to have to go to bed earlier or find something to keep my hands busy. Think might have the answer, have tons of photos that need to be put into albums and can get my closet shelves organized at the same thime. Off to treadmill! Love ya'll, Cindy

Ugh, it's been a really hard day. All I want to do is eat, but I know how much worse that will make me feel. I think I'm feeling anxious about the inauguration as well.
