We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

I wasn't going to post today. But I found this and I wanted to share. I sent it to Pat ( birdgal) and thought you all might benefit from it today. Remember these lines... "In the midst of any loss, it is important to maintain good self-care. For me, that is sleep, healthy eating, listening to music, singing, going to the gym, drumming, dancing, writing, time with kindred spirits. time in nature, with animals, reading, hugging, and letting myself feel whatever arises." blogs.psychcentral.com/about-relationships/2017/01/mending-the-rend/#.WIH5COnD_jA.facebook

Good Morning. TV remains off today but I got a phone alert with news. Ugh. Shut those down! I honestly don't know whether to cry or vomit. Or both.
I've thought of the perfect thing to do today (for me). Listen to Eckhart Tolle. My thoughts are with you all as we work thru this transition.
We shall overcome.

Morning All
I haven't posted much since the gut punch but, just wanted to say I'm with you gals. No coverage for me today either. After all, why subject myself willingly to something so repugnant. He'll be in violation of the Constitution the second he takes the oath to protect it.
Looking toward the future and what we'll need to do indivisibleguide.com

Well, I watched it. Our law clerk wanted to watch in the conference room so I joined him to observe the train wreck. Now our clerk is a conservative Republican and these are his words: "This isn't a speech, it's a rally ... wow that was inflammatory ... wow that is a brazen claim to make ... That was very divisive ..." he also shook his head a lot. I cried whenever the camera panned to Barrack and Joe.

My heartfelt THANK YOU to President Obama & Michelle, for their grace, dignity, success & scandal free 8 years. You gave your all to keep this country safe. As an American, you made me proud & I know you made so many Americans proud of the way you maintained your dignity thru some pretty tough personal attacks over the last 8 years. Thanks again! 😊

I watched it. I cannot stand the man, but I refuse to let my revulsion keep me from being informed and aware of what's happening - no matter how bad it gets.

I watched part of it too. Saw the swearing in while in a room at the ER of the hospital. Our continuing family saga goes on, so couldn't spend too much time agonizing over it. Heard bits and pieces of his "campaign" speech--it really wasn't an inaugural address. Had to take my mom back to the ER by ambulance with severe back pain again. X-rays did not show any additional fractures as I had feared might be the case as she is considered at high risk for them, and it showed that the kyphoplasty is holding strong. So they bumped up her pain meds and sent her back to AL. This afternoon she was resting peacefully, so praying that will last. She has had some pain ever since the surgery, but not like this morning. It actually started when she tried to get up from bed using the railing on the side of the bed. In rehab she had a hospital bed so even though she would use the railing, they would also raise her head so that she wasn't pulling all her weight up from lying down flat. But in AL she is in her regular bed although we do have railings on the side. So she was pulling up from a flat position. I think she is going to try and sleep in her recliner for a few nights, and maybe things will get better. We are to follow-up with the pain management doctor.
So couldn't waste a lot of time on Tweety. It saddens me to see him in office because I believe he will be a disaster as president. That's what I believe, but what I hope for is that I am completely wrong and he will turn out to be a good president. Because whatever happens we are all in this same boat together. Not to mix my analogies but I saw a meme on FB that said hoping Tweety will fail is like hoping the captain will crash the plane we are all on. I want this plane to come in for a safe, smooth landing. I don't foresee that happening, but I am hoping against all odds that it will.

This from FB pretty well expresses it for me
Daniel Kurek Yesterday at 10:38pm · I listened as they called my President a Muslim. I listened as they called him and his family a pack of monkeys. I listened as they said he wasn't born here. I watched as they blocked every single path to progress that they could. I saw the pictures of him as Hitler. I watched them shut down the government and hurt the entire nation twice. I watched them turn their backs on every opportunity to open worthwhile dialog. I watched them say that they would not even listen to any choice for Supreme Court no matter who the nominee was. I listened as they openly said that they will oppose him at every turn. I watched as they did just that. I listened. I watched. I paid attention. Now, I'm being called on to be tolerant. To move forward. To denounce protesters. To "Get over it." To accept this... I will not. I will do my part to make sure this great American mistake becomes the embarrassing footnote of our history that it deserves to be. I will do this as quickly as possible every chance I get. I will do my part to limit the damage that this man can do to my country. I will watch his every move and point out every single mistake and misdeed in a loud and proud voice. I will let you know in a loud voice every time this man backs away from a promise he made to them. Them, the people who voted for him. The ones who sold their souls and prayed for him to win. I will do this so that they never forget. And they will hear me. They will see it in my eyes when I look at them. They will hear it in my voice when I talk to them. They will know that I know who they are. They will know that I know what they are. Do not call for my tolerance. I've tolerated all I can. Now it's their turn to tolerate ridicule. Be aware, make no mistake about it, every single thing that goes wrong in our country from this day forward is now Trump's fault just as much as they thought it was Obama's. I find it unreasonable for them to expect from me what they were entirely unwilling to give.
