Ruth, its on that Y chromosome- its a genetic marker that makes men communicate in strange and indirect manners yet they think they make perfect sense. EIther that or you are just really really poor at mind reading- trying to figure out what your Dh meant to say when he said something else!
Ordered the jars for the scrub- and will bet the ingredients Friday to make the scrub. (Should have the jars then also). Hope it turns out ok!!
CJ- I keep thinking of you and hoping that the contractor or someone showed up to patch up your roof.
This storm was slow to start, but is now taking off. Its a very wet heavy snow and now is coming down at a very steady rate. Think we have 10 inches now. We are in a band that could result in over a foot. Still have power, but its a very wet heavy snow. If I do not check in later on you will know my power went out.
Take care G

Ginny, that is a lot of snow. Especially when it's wet and heavy like that. Do you think that school will be close tomorrow too? Sure sounds like it should be. I was looking up sugar scrub recipes last night afgter you mentioned the ones you were going to make. The only essential oil I have is lavender...another thing I forgot to look for while I was out. and the only oils I have are evoo, mineral oil, and coconut oil which is, of course a solid at this time of year. I also saw directions for an herbal one but it called for herbs that I never heard of before.
I did get everything all wrapped and packed so it's ready to go.We'll see what happens. I need to write some letters this evening and get some thank you cards ready to mail while I'm out also. I have a WHOLE bunch of old stamps. Since I'm going to be in a real post office I think I'll start getting some stamps that go with the ones I have to make them whatever the price of stamps is now. They arent forever stamps. Some are from many years back but not collector items. I just never got stamps to go with them when the price went up. I'm glad they have forever stamps now so that no longer happens.

Hurray for you Ruth! You have everything packed and ready to go- a good feeling of accomplishment. I have odd stamps- mostly from my mom. Need to do the same thing as you- just so I do not waste them.It seems that you have had a very productive day- bet that feels good.
Still have power....14 to 15 inches of snow and still falling. School is on a 3 hour delay- which might be buying time to see if they can open or not. 15 inches of snow is a lot to clear off school grounds to allow buses and cars in and permit student traffic. I will be using orange oil for the scrub. THe recipe I saw called for lemon- orange will have to do as that is what I have. G

I think that orange will smell wonderful.
I hope they decide soon that school should be closed. I'd be on pins and needles as they say, waiting to find out for sure.

A 3 hr delay means that I go in at 9- and am only home for 90 minutes between my am and pm. Well at least I can sleep in later... How is your evening going?

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope you don't lose power and that they close the schools tomorrow so you don't have to drive. I hate the wet snow, it's so much more dangerous. Ruth - Hope you can get your package mailed. I love those forever stamps too. Meg - Hope you got all your errands done yesterday. I finally called the roofing company last night and they said they would get by my house in the next few days. Of course that didn't help when we had rain and about 2 inches of wet snow last night. So I called them this morning and said that I had the snow on my roof and they needed to wait until Thursday or Friday to come to my house. I kind of think my name might have gotten lost or misplaced. After I talked to them I went out and took care of my grocery shopping and other errands since I hadn't been out for about a week. When I got back I noticed that I did have a few places that had leaked through the roof. Not to bad though and I was able to mostly get the water out of the carpet. So I called the roofing company again to tell about the leaks and they said they had me on the schedule for this afternoon. The guy did come by about around 4:00 or so and was here until almost 6:00. He put tarps on several different places on my roof where I lost shingles and where the roof pulled back. I also called my insurance to file a claim and hopefully I'll hear from them soon. After I see the insurance people then I'll have to get a time set up for a new roof to be put on. I sure wish I could have gotten the tarp on before it snowed and I had leaks, but once that happened it was too late to worry about it. I'll be glad when the whole process is over. It will be a relief to me since I've worried about the roof for years every time we had a storm. I'm looking forward to getting some good sleep tonight since I haven't slept well for several nights and had to get up early in case the roofers came by. Take care everyone!

CJ- no one sleeps well when they are worried about their home and any harm that might befall it. I am so very sorry that you did have some damage. Glad that the contractor did get to stablilize things, so no further problems can crop up. Might be a good idea to take pictures of the damage,- either with a cell phone or digital camera. Expeically during a time like this, sometimes the insurance company will accept that to put the claim through.
I truly hope that you can sleep well tonight- at least now knowing that everything is ok for now. What a big relief, but I understand the inconvenience of having to go through an insurance claim.

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope you are surviving after the storm. Did you get to be off today? Hope everything is O.K. with your house. Thanks for the advice. I had taken some photos on my digital camera before the roofer came so that I'd be able to show the insurance agent. I also kept the two bags of shingles that fell off the roof to show. Ruth - Thanks for your support. Hope you are getting in some crafting today. It's nice and sunny here today and in the 40s with a little bit of a breeze. I'm so happy I don't have to worry about the roof for now and I'll see what happens when the insurance agent comes by. I was looking at quilting websites today and saw some cute mug rugs. I've never made one of those and was thinking they'd be fun to do. I'm going to look around at patterns and find one I like. I also saw this quilt block that looks like a Celtic pattern that I really like. I tried to figure out what the dimensions for the strips would be, maybe I'll play around with this too: mspdesignsusa.com/2018/02/01/february-2018-block-of-the-month/ I've also always wanted to make a quilt with a cross using the log cabin block method. I was looking at some of those today too: susiessunroom.blogspot.com/2017/04/a-log-cabin-cross-mug-rug.html - this one is a small mug rug www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/log-cabin-christian-cross-multiple-sizes/211957 - a bunch of different ones here irene-sweetseasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2014/02/log-cabin-cross.htmlTake care everyone!

CJ, thanks for posting those links. The cross items are beautiful. The first is my favorite and the 2nd is my second favorite. I love looking at those sites but get frustrated because I know I wouldn't be able to make beautiful things like that. I also like the shamrock block of the month. What a great talent you have CJ.I know the picture is not your work but I have no doubt that your;s is going to be just as beautiful as the one on the site.
Last two nights I've just been working on a potholder and today started a pair of fingerless gloves. The potholder still isnt done because I've been doing a lot of reading. The fingerless gloves are going to be dark blue for the first half of the cuff, then white then the burgundy color that dgd wanted in another pair of gloves that I started but ripped out because of mistakes that I found I had made.
The potholder is a nice color of cotton that I've had for awhile. I have lots of it because its a whole cone. It's working up to be a really nice color for Easter. Actually it's more of a hotpad size so would be great for sitting hot dishes on, on the table when dd has Easter dinner. She's always searching for things to put under the dishes. And it's really "springy" in color so would be good for Mother's day also.
I found out something that really disturbs me today. My dgs who is 12 is a little hyper...don't know if he has ADHD or is just an overactive kid or maybe didnt have enough loving, consistent discipline up to now...but one of his teachers the ohter day said he was taking a vote. Everyone was to raise their hand if they thought my dgs is annoying. My dgs has a very kind heart and this really hurt him. I thought teachers were trained to work with children with all kinds of behaviors and also knew not to embarass a child in front of the whole class.

Good evening!
Yes, praise God we kept power and made it through the stomr just fine. Lots of shovelling....school was on a 3 hour delay this am- so I got home from my morning at 12- thinking I would have to return to work at 1:30 like normal. Dd had a doctors appointment, DGD was sick and DSIL’s car had a dead battery- all that spelled disasater, so I took the afternoon off to help. IT ended up being a very busy day.
CJ- so glad that you are more comfortable at home and not worrying about the roof. Has the insurance company indicated when they will be investigating your roof damage? THanks for posting the links for the log cabin crosses! So very pretty.....and a nice smaller scale project to take on someday.
Ruth, do not shortchange yourself, there is no doubt in my mind that you would be able to make a project like that. Most of the instructions for crafts like that are very detailed and step by step, so even an idiot like me could manage to make the project! Your potholder project sounds so nice- a lovely spring project to brighten the home!!
Hope Meg and Phyl can stop on in to say hello G

Opps.....forgot. Ruth, that teacher ought to be fired. I am “just a school bus driver” and know better than to even think about a hurtful thing like voting on a students popularity like that! Its completely inappropriate and if your DGS was the grandchild of the superintendant of schools such a vote would never have happened! Its disgraceful.

Ginny, yes it does sound like you had a busy day. I'm glad that since your dd needed some help that you were able to get out and help her.
Have a good evening everyone although for both of you in the east it's no longer evening but night. See you tomorrow.

hi, I have been in the mood of not wanting to do anything. I am out of that rut now. have to be as nancy and family will be here In early april. need some deep cleaning done. have left things go to long.
ruth can dgs be tested for adhd ?as we know there is a med for it. maybe he was just being a clown that day having some fun I do think dg parents should have a meeting with the principal and teacher.. let that teacher know it is not right to embrassed a kid in front of class. I have a niece who is a teacher and works with kids with dhd .it is not easy for either one and has training for those type of kids. sometimes dealing with the parents can be harder then working with the kids. I know a couple of stories. I don't think some teachers are trained or are willing to work with the kids.
I have not been doing any crafting. just wasn't in the mood. was reading my amish quilting stories. now I am getting back in the mood. firs tI need to clean my playpen. that is going to be done today.
tomorrow will be a sew day for our guild at a quilt shop. we are working on charity things.
I did go to the cross websites. I like the mug rug. will not pay to have it downloaded. I know websites cost money. phyl
