Good afternoon!!
Meg, good to see you here. Glad you were able to stay dry despite all the wet1. What kind of scholarships does your church provide? Is it for a K-12 education or college- perhaps even those who want to go into CHristian service./. Hope you can get your glasses soon and be back to seeing clearly. THink our vision is something we all take for granted- until it becomes compromised. I will keep you in prayer regarding your bloodwork. As Ruth will state much more eloquently than I will, sometimes abnormalities are nothing- but I am really glad that your Doctor wants to check this out and take good care of you.
Funny Meg asked about Amazon - just before Christmas I ordered something for DGD- and did a trial membership to Prime so that it would arrive on time. If you continue past the trial period they will charge you the $90 (or is it $99?) a year to keep prime. If after the trial period you do not use prime, you can cancel and not be billed the fee. That is what I did.
Ok enough from me....went to the store this am- got that done. Sounds like DD will probably deliver the baby in the next few days- she is dilating and effacing.
Have a great day G

Yes it sure sounds as though the baby will be here very soon.Prayers for safe and easy delivery for both mom and baby...oh and also Dad and Grandma Meg, I've prayed and will continue to do so that the blood abnormality turns out to be maybe just a lab variant or something simple like that.I'm glad that the doctor is doing as he should though and checking it out. Yes I did the same as Ginny. I did a free trial of Prime and set it to cancel the day the free trial was over. It does cost $100/yr or $12/month I think if you pay by the month. I don't order enough to make it worthwhile to me to be a Prime member. And I'm usually not interested in receiving my order fast and the extras they give you such as online books and video are of no use to me either.I usually order enough at a time that my shipping is free anyway or order items that already have free shipping. They do sometimes have some items that are exclusively for prime members and you get a good price but then the cost of the membership uses up more than that savings anyway. And also many times they have that same item being sold by a different seller for that same "exclusive" prime price. Speaking of ordering, dh ordered some things from Walmart yesterday and, as has happened prior to this, he got a offer that he could save more if he opted out of two day delivery. As since, as I mentioned, we dont care if things take longer because here they usually do anyway, he took them up on that offer and saved a couple more dollars. Amazon will do the same with Prime. When we had the free trial, dh was always getting coupons for opting out of the fast delivery so was able to get quite a few free things from them with those coupons As some of you may remember, I have Raynauds and this year it affected my fingers..in the past it only affected my toes. Well it leaves these horribly red and raw looking. very rough, and almost open areas on my fingers that look like burns. Dh told me to put hand cream on them. (I'm not good at using creams..don't like the feel) but I had a tube of a handcream I actually got many years ago as one of the freebies they give at work conferences.. it's Crabtree and Evelyn. I never used it till now. Its amazing. My hands look better than they ever did. I could give testimonials for this company. It also feels great and smells great too. If you ever have a serious need for handcream I'd say try this.I don't know if they make other products but I'm going to check into it. Ok I think I'll try to find something to do to make my craft cave more organized. Its beautiful weather here again..over 60 yesterday and will be the same today but then they're predicting cold and even snow starting tomorrow. So I should go outdoors but I probably won't.

well I did look up the lotion and it looks as though they've definitely made the tubes much, much smaller. Mine is quite a large tube and what they sell is only less than an ounce. My "free" tube must be at least 3 ounces. Even food products are downsized now. Used to be that potato chips were a whole pound, now you get 7 ounces if you're lucky. Ice cream used to be a half gallon, went to 1.75qts and now is only 1 1/2qt.Even toilet tissue is a narrower roll and less sheets and that's for the "good" brands. See all kinds of useless things come to my mind for me to blab about

Hello Crafters
Meg - I hope everything will be alright with your bloodwork when you get the consultation. Hope your weather is better today.
Ginny - I hope everything goes well with the baby's birth, for the baby and the mother. Did you get your afghan finished?
Ruth - I'm glad that cream helped your hands. I get really dry skin in the Winter. I use Lubriderm Sensitive for my hands and this year tried Aveeno for the places on my body where the skin is dry. The Aveeno really helped.
I'm not doing much today, just relaxing. I did make some of the 2 Ingredient Dough and put some cheddar cheese in part of it and made cheese sticks. I took a smaller piece of dough and sprayed it with canola oil and sprinkled on garlic and baked that and near the end of the baking time I added some shredded mozzarella cheese and made garlic cheese bread. All of these were pretty good. Of course it's nothing like having the real think - like Red Lobster Garlic Biscuits or Garlic Bread, but at least I can get the taste of it without the calories.
I forgot to mention that at JoAnn's yesterday I found some fabric that had pictures of Crayola crayons on it. They were already cut into 1 yard pieces to sell and I bought two different pieces. I'd like to make one of those quilts that has large crayons on it and thought I could use this fabric in that quilt.
Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Ruth, indeed crabtree and evelyn make the most wonderful body care products, highly scented soaps, cremes, room sprays.....which scent is the cream you are using? Most of their fragances they have kept over the years. Anyway, I am so very glad that it helped your hands! 25 years ago, I had some issues with Raynauds- as I figured out it was all stress related, and Iwas getting over Lyme Disease then also. Think I was also dealing with some fibromayalgia then too. Anyway, so very glad you found a cream that is soothing to your skin and you are not irritated by the fragrance. So glad you were able to spend some time reorganizing your craft cave. Its that time of year that there are lots of good ideas to reorganize our homes, many good articles on how to keep things neater too. Hope you were able to take that time and find some good ideas.
CJ- hope you got a great deal on that crayola fabric... it sounds adorable! Do you have someone in mind for that colorful quilt?? One thing I have found in many years of weight watchers, is sometimes those low point cheats are really so good.....think sprinlking cheddar cheese on the dough sounds really good. How nice that you had such a relaxing day!!
Well, DD called and said she is very tired. (as I was the day before I went into labor with her). We have the kids tomorrow anyway- and she said she is so tired that she is taking the day off from work (she is a teacher) so she can rest up for whenever she goes into labor.
Guess I have blabbed enough for one day. G

Ginny, it sure sounds like a good idea to me for her to take the day off...at least one...and rest. After the baby is here you know how it is. With all t he feedings, etc you don't get much rest for awhile.
yes I love the fragrance of this cream. It's not strong at all..just a nice pleasant fragrance. The one I have is in the brown tube. It came in a really nice shaped box and is called Gardeners hand therapy. I heard the used to have a lavender which I would have liked but now they only lavender they have is with mocha or latte ...some kind of coffee drink..and comments all say it's way too strong and has a masculine scent. No one seemed to like that one.
No I never did get to my craft cave. Maybe tomorrow or I might still do a couple things in there this evening but I probably will just sit and crochet
CJ, a crayon quilt sounds really nice. I used to have a scrub top for work that was a crayon print and when I had to do something with children I'd tell them to" just look at my shirt...someone scribbled on it". I remember esp one night I was called back in because little guy that we all knew came in to ER and he had an implanted port so I had to go in and access it for them. I had that top on that night. He liked it. I cant remember what the disorder was that he had. He was only about 3 or 4 and couldn't eat...I think he couldn't swollow. The nurses on pediatrics told me that he had to have OT to learn to get messy because children who have had tube feedings all their lives had some kind of mental aversion to getting their hands messy and somehow doing that helps their overall development.Just thought I'd toss that interesting gem in there. He was the sweetest little guy and I often wonder how he is now because he would be about 18 or 19 now I think.
Aveeno and Lubriderm are nice body creams CJ. They do help a lot with dryness. We have very low humidity here for most of the year so we do get very dry skin. I always looked young for my age until we moved here then with my dislike of using creams...or maybe just laziness...and lack of humidity, my skin began to get dry.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope your DD is doing well today and still resting. I don't have anyone in mind for my quilts, I never do. I guess I'm a strange "quilter" because I make the tops for fun not to actually give someone. Ruth - Hope you are getting in some crafting today. I was able to see the Applique project that the local store is offering a class on and I didn't care for it, so I'm not taking that class. Maybe I'll take something in April. It's sunny and in the 50s here today, and less wind, so a nice day. Take care everyone!

CJ, I think that it's a great idea to make the quilt tops just because you like making them. I don't blame you one bit for not taking that class. In fact that's the best thing to do if you didn't like the looks of the applique project. Why waste time and money
Yes I sure hope that if Ginny is working today that the streets are well plowed so that its safe to drive. Ginny tell your dd to have the baby tomorrow which is my dgds birthday.
I've been working on my craft cave and finding spots for the boxes of yarn that I had sitting in my living room. One thing for sure is that I need to get busy and use some of this but like Meg, I never have the one I need or want for a certain project or else they have a great sale I can't pass up. So my goal for the rest of this month is to make a serious dent in the basket of yarn which is comprised of whole skeins and partial ones. I'll make mittens, fingerless gloves, hats, and ear warmers with potholder in between because I have a lot of partials in cotton yarn also. After I go to the store probably next week I'll make the gifts for dd as I have to get the cup I need and some hand sanitizer to make the cozies for although I could go ahead and make the hand sanitizer one as the carry around size of hand sanitizer is the same size and shape in almost all brands.Guess I'll do that one today.
I hope we hear from Meg. I do hope and pray her doctor consultation went well.
Phyl, you have a good day too

ok, I did one glove of the Andy fingerless gloves and they really are fast and nice. I like a bigger cuff though so I added more stitches to the chain to make it longer. I also like them to come up higher on the fingers..these didn't even come to the knuckles, so I added one more sc row, then a hdc row to both match the only dhc row in the pattern which was at the start of the body of the gloves, then another sc row and finally the slip stitch row that she has you do last.
I can see myself making a lot of these to use up some of those partial skeins of yarn
Now going to go make the second glove. Now these she could have legitimately claimed are "lightening fast"

Yup, been praying for Meg today- lots of folks in my world seem to be needing prayer today - hope Meg, is ok and her consultation went well.
CJ- what a creative mind, if you can make a project or plan one without any particular recipient in mind. Glad you enjoyed nice weather today.
Ruth, do I have the pattern for those andy fingerless gloves ?(please do not tell me I gave you the pattern that would be pretty funny!) The gloves sound like they are something I could handle and I willbe looking for a new crochet project soon.
Pretty funny if my Dd had the baby tomorrow....then it would have the same bday as Ruths DGD. My Ds’s bday is Saturday.
I finished the baby afghan body this evening and am now working on the border, which is crazy easy..
BLessings to all- hope Meg is ok and can check in and its always a hoot to hear from Phyl G

I am having computer problems so hope I can finish this. Damp wet cold day. I did go to see the Oncologist today. My Iron is low again so I will probably have to have iron infusion treatments again. She talked to me about my bones and bone marrow and sent me to x - ray got get all my bones I had 6 different x-rays. She also talked to me about pre cancer but I do not have cancer. She will see me again in 6 months. That dept. has a social worker who is available if I need him. The nurse weighed me and measured y height. I thought I was 4ft 101/2 inches well I have now shrunk to 4ft 81/2 ins. I wish my weight would shrink like that. I used to be 5ft1 1/2 ins. Thank you all for your prayers.
I spent a lot of time the last couple of days crocheting and listening to a book. My favorite thing to do. I did bake a cake this afternoon and Devin couldn't wait for it to come out of the oven and then he had to wait for it to cool. Pretty soon I will teach him how to make a cake. I was cooking and baking when I wasn't much older than him.
Ginny, I didn't mean to sign up for Amazon Prime and I will keep it until it runs out and close it . I would not order enough to justify paying all that money for membership. I belong to Sam's club and hardly ever go there. It is an exciting time for you as you are on baby watch. I will keep your DD in my prayers also all your family. Good luck on getting the border finished then you will be all set for the new grand baby.
Ruth, I am not going to worry about my blood abnormality as I am at an age were anything could happen. Everyone in the Oncology dept. were extra nice. The lotion you mentioned sounds interesting so I will have to check it out. From what you said about the glove pattern I think I could make up my own knitting pattern, I hardly ever wear gloves. But I had better stick with my b/blankets for now. You asked about scholarships for young people at my church. They are young people graduating from high school. I think we had about 5 or 6 last year and they each got $1,000. I don't know how much money is available this year but the students who received last year can apply again this year. We have a day school at my church and it is very expensive to attend and I think the school offers scholarships.
cj, cheese sticks sound good we get them sometimes when we order pizza but I bet yours are better.
I am off to take a shower Good night stay warm.

Good morning!
Meg, so glad you checked in. Its impressive that you are getting the care and attention that you are- even that you got an appointment as quickly as you did is a blessing. Hold on to your faith and your wonderful attitude. Those of us here who pray will continue to do so and the others will join us with their good thoughts. Onto another subject....I did just that with Amazon prime- let the trial period run out and cancelled. THere is a link to do that on Amazons web site but it took me a long time to locate that. If you have a Sam’s membeship- well that covers a lot of stuff that you would possibly use Amazon for. GLad you have gotten some good reading and crochetting time in!! Hey, as far as Devin goes, you can get online recipes for “cake in a cup”- which you make your own from scratch cake in a coffee mug, “baked” in the microwave. Perhaps that would be fun for Devin. Of course they also have single serve cake mixes in the cake mix section of the store....I am sure Devin could handle those. My Dd and Ds have tried the single serve cakes- both say they are pretty good.
I decided to shorten the border on the afghan. She calls for loops (made from a 6 chain length) and I thought it was too big and too loose- knowing that little fingers would work their way in their. I shortened the length to 4 chains and like that better. I do hope to finish this afghan this weekend....am already hoping to start on my next project. I must be nuts.
Hope everyone has a wonderufl day. G

Meg, I'm so thankful and happy that it didnt turn our to be anything more serious. Yes oncologists are often hematologists also. Have they ever given you an explanation of why your blood count becomes so low at times? And sorry you have to go thru iron infusions once again but better than some things. i too was cooking and baking at a young age and have had my kids and grands cooking too.
Ginny, Ive often thought of making those single serving cakes back when I used to have my cravings for sweets. I dont really have them anymore though and Ive never tried those. I'd make my own not buy the single serving mixes in the stores...in fact I havent seen them but I don't look at the cake mix section.
The Andy fingerless is one I found when looking at the one you suggested which is the Alicee inspired one. I looked at the Alice one last evening and remembered that she said people complained that it's too large. I remembered then that I was trying to figure out what the mulitple are so that I could make it smaller. Guess I should just try one first and see how it turns out. I did get 2 1/2 pairs of gloves done yesterday.
Well even though it was about 60 yesterday they were correct and it did snow during the night but its up to 40 now so the snow is melting fast.
Ginny, back in Oct and Nov when my latest dgs was due we kept hoping he would be born on various people's bdays. Finally he was born on a day of his own. But it would be nice if your dgd was born tomorrow on your ds' bday. But important thing is a healthy and safe delivery

I've worked on fingerless gloves so far today and soon will go make some of that 2 ingredient dough and try calzones. I hope the dough is sturdy enough for that but there are sites were people have made them so they should work. I might have to also try some of the dough with my gluten free flour and make some nice bagels for me. That's my plan anyway. you know how plans are though.

Hello Crafters Meg - I'm glad the doctors are on top of your health and treatments. Here's a website where I've found lots of really easy baking recipes: www.thesemisweetsisters.com/Ruth - Your weather sounds really interesting, warm one day, then snow. Sounds like you are busy with lots of projects. Ginny - I hope your DD is still doing well and that you enjoy having off this weekend. I went out to lunch today at Cracker Barrel and had a good lunch. One of the ladies in my group ordered Blackberry Cobbler for dessert and when it came out there was no crust (or cobble), just the fruit filling - very strange. I was also able to run all my errands and do some grocery shopping while I was out so I don't need to go out for a while if I don't want to. The weather was sunny here today after a really quick snow shower this morning - but it was very cold and windy. Take care everyone!
