Alternative Facts are Lies plain & simple. KellyAnne Conway is also lying on behalf of her boss no matter how she tried to spin it this morning on MTP. I'm still stuck on "Alternative Facts".... I think my mother would have sent me straight to the confessional at church if I ever told her 'alternative facts'.

Good early afternoon, Oh my, "When asked why Trump press secretary Sean Spicer mischaracterized the inauguration as the âlargest audience to ever witness an inauguration - period - both in person and around the globe,â Conway said he was merely offering âalternative facts.â Ah.....er...... so that would be Alternate facts from an Alternate Universe? KAC Thought the inauguration was Halloween so she dressed up as Paddington Bear?

I'd be sitting in the pew waiting for my turn in the box if I ever pulled something like that too. When I got home I'd also be sitting in my room all day without my record player. My mom believed lying to her was more offensive than the sin we committed. I get that. When you tell someone a load of bull, not only are you looking them straight in the eye and being dishonest, you're also looking them straight in the eye and insulting them because you believe they're so damn stupid, and you're so damn clever, they won't even notice you're a liar!

Thanks for sharing the link, Anne. What a bunch of BS!!! "Alternative facts"--my EX-husband was a master of them. KAC can't even pull a convincing lie out of her hat. The entire world except for them and a few die-hard followers can clearly see that they screwed this up big time, and now are doubling down on the screw up. They should have just acted presidential, never mentioned crowd size at all and no one would have cared how many people were there. Now still no one cares about how many people attended, but they do care that their President is a buffoon with an incredible ego and low self-esteem who is encouraged by a bunch of sycophants around him trying to curry his favor.

More need to speak out like this... finally!
Dan Rather
These are not normal times. These are extraordinary times. And extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.
When you have a spokesperson for the president of the United States wrap up a lie in the Orwellian phrase "alternative factsââŚ
When you have a press secretary in his first appearance before the White House reporters threaten, bully, lie, and then walk out of the briefing room without the cajones to answer a single questionâŚ
When you have a President stand before the stars of the fallen CIA agents and boast about the size of his crowds (lies) and how great his authoritarian inaugural speech wasâŚ.
These are not normal times.
The press has never seen anything like this before. The public has never seen anything like this before. And the political leaders of both parties have never seen anything like this before.
What can we do? We can all step up and say simply and without equivocation. "A lie, is a lie, is a lie!" And if someone won't say it, those of us who know that there is such a thing as the truth must do whatever is in our power to diminish the liar's malignant reach into our society.
There is one group of people who can do a lot - very quickly. And that is Republicans in Congress. Without their support, Donald Trump's presidency will falter. So here is what I think everyone in the press must do. If you are interviewing a Paul Ryan, a Mitch McConnell, or any other GOP elected official, the first question must be "what will you do to combat the lying from the White House?" If they dodge and weave, keep with the follow ups. And if they refuse to give a satisfactory answer, end the interview.
Facts and the truth are not partisan. They are the bedrock of our democracy. And you are either with them, with us, with our Constitution, our history, and the future of our nation, or you are against it. Everyone must answer that question.

"A lie, is a lie, is a lie!"
Excellent article, Pat/PBNJ! Thanks for sharing it. Dan Rather is right on target here. How ignorant do they think the American public really is? We know a lie when we hear one. Doubling down on it doesn't make it become true. And, if they are willing to put so much effort into lying to us about something so utterly insignificant, what can we possibly expect them to do about an actually important issue?

Is anyone else just sick to their stomach by all of this B.S.? I'm so sick of hearing people say, "It's over, suck it up and go on." or this one, "Give the guy a chance." He had his chance when he was campaigning and in my book he blew it.
My daughter and granddaughter marched yesterday in D.C. Daughter texted me and said it was 99.9% violence free.. I think that was good considering how many people were actually there. Anyway I'm proud of them for marching. It was a long day, they were cold, tired and hungry. But they didn't quit.
