MOM UPDATE: thanks everyone for your heartfelt prayers and kind words
My mom was released from ER. She has a nasty goose egg on her left temple. Is to use a walker & take medicine to help w/ the dizziness. Not an easy situation -- lots of different family dynamics in play. Will focus on doing what I can to make life comfortable for my parents, keep the family peace, and keep myself on an even keel. But as I shared yesterday, Right now I am experiencing a more normal level of stress, so I expect to manage.
Today: continuing w/ my tracking recovery plan-- take baby steps, they work for me. Am tracking, including GHGs, but focusing on getting enough protein, moving w/in my parameters. Will work on solidifying those fundamentals and reflect on the emotional cues for the after 7pm munching. May just start scheduling a lavender bubble bath around 7-8. Relaxed &soaking wet-- hmmm-- even I would have a hard time starting a cheese ceremony under those conditions. And afterwards, I would be more centered.
How: sketching out some meal ideas for the week, so that I can choose from what strikes my fancy that day.; thinking about what one or two chores that I can do to increase my activity; starting the bubble bath or other relaxation ideas

June - Sounds like a bubble bath at your "critical" time would be ideal for centering you. Sending prayers to the whole family and hope your mom recovers quickly. Unfortunately family stress is the worst because it's the stress you can least back away from. LOL on my new picture. She cut off 3 inches and the picture is identical except for the sun glasses. Next time is the full overhaul and I will try to convince her I really do want to go shorter. :-)
Football menu is skinless buffalo wings with Bolthouse blue cheese and/or rf ranch, mini homemade crab cakes, grilled halloumi (which fortunately I can portion), lots of veggies and a couple of rf dips. Plus whatever Carol brings, which I know will be healthy. If her stepson and gf join us, I will add Al Fresco chicken sausage, peppers and onions

Susi- nominating you for the Pro Bowl of LT WWers! You make this work in such a sustainable way-- add a new, tasty indulgence as a side dish to enjoy w/ satisfying favs. Regardless of what anyone else brings, you can eat what you prepare & be very happy. No deprivations whatsoever. Just lots of flavor, color, texture! ENjoy the games! Are you rooting for Packers & Pats?
I did notice the length. Looks nice. How much shorter do you want to go? The sun glasses caught my attention, b/c they are "fun." Have recently realized that "fun" often determines what I will buy or wear.
Thanks- having elderly parents-- not the easiest situation. The family dynamics is nothing that I can change. I am extremely grateful that this lastest situation is happening now and not two months ago. I at least have the physical & emotional energy to do what I can for my parents. There will be a balancing act, for sure. But I will do the best that I can. And I will spend some time today thinking about what support I might need and how I might get it. Other than that, I will count my blessings in regards to my parents.

Good Morning,
June, glad things weren't worse for you DM. Prayers for you all and yes it is a good thing it happened now and not back when you were just post surgery. I like the idea about the bubble bath during your time of wanting to munch. Should totally re-route your mindset!
Susi, your menu for the game sounds perfect. You're making that cheese sound really good. Gonna have to look for that next time I'm groc shopping.
Naomi, sounds like you are having a lovely time with grands:) My kids used to like my diet food, also!
Another rainy day in SC. Today will just be a KOKO day for me. I have church in a little bit and not much else. Maybe will look for a good book to enjoy later.
Have a great day everyone!

June, best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery for your Mom.
My talk went over well. Relatives are in town; goal for today is to stay aware and eat only 1/2 bagel/lox + salad instead of a whole bagel/lox. And I have to somehow get my classes prepped for tomorrow!
A good Sunday to all.

June, prayers continue for you dear mom and YOU as her caretaker. I know you will rise up to the plate and do what is necessary to get done for her and for you as well. Keeping all involved in my prayers. My mom passed at 68 and my dad went to pieces. Carl and I sold our home and moved back into the tenement where I grew up to take care of him. Later he developed dementia and had to be put in a home. Yup, I know all about family dynamics!!!!!
Susi my hat goes off to you for all your planning for the game! As I said before, we'll be spending the time watching with our neighbors. I haven't planned a thing. This will be my free day and I'm fine with it. I do have a veggie plate that I put together and will take that along as well as shrimp (which I don't eat) and of course wine! She is preparing pot roast which I do like but I won't over do on that!
Naomi I love hearing the joy in your voice as you talk about your grand kids. Being childless I can appreciate everyone's stories. I would like you egg whites too LOL.
LaDonna we don't have rain, but the sky is very overcast. I doubt we'll see sunshine blue skies today!
Bonnie and Dave want us over for 4:30 ish. TG they just live a house away so no real driving involved. We can sit relax laugh and eat as we watch the game.
Wishing all that follow a wonderful day.

Naomi-- a sleepover w/ those little boys had to be the BEST medicine for both you and Trigger. How are you both feeling? Do the antibiotics seem to be working? Ha ha ha -- as I was peddling on my recumbent bike today, I laughing thought of it as "doing a Naomi"-- meaning exercising on my recumbent bike at the start of the day. Since I am not sure about how my feet or left knee will take all this, I am trying to gradually increase my time but in two separate sessions. I looked at an air fryer at WalMart yesterday, but didn't pull the trigger. Takes me a while to decide to buy a gadget... even one w/ rave reviews of friends whose judgment I trust.
LaDonna--those KOKO days are golden! It takes some doing to get into that mode, and it takes some doing to stay there. Am declaring your KOKO a big NSV--lot s of small steps have to be in place & carried out for you to have KOKO as today's goal. Hope that you have a pleasant time at church. Did you find anything at the Belk's sale? Inquiring minds want to know. Saw that the South has some heavy rains and possible tornadic activity. Stay dry and safe!
TAmmary- congrats on the positive response to your talk! Enjoying a smaller portion of a traditional meal is a smart tactic. You get the best of both worlds-- food that you enjoy and a healthier lifestyle that you want. It's a win-win. Thank for for thinking of me & my mother. She and dad will soon be 89.
Ann- so very nice that you have good friends with which to pass a relaxing Sunday. Just like Naomi, the laughter & company will be the best medicine. Never can go wrong w/ taking shrimp & vegetables. Thx for the suggestion-- I could easily add shrimp to my list of game munchies. W/ luck, DH will not think that he has to add cheese & crackers. If he does, then I have weeklies & will adjust.
Honestly, I have shed a few tears thinking about how one of my parents will be w/o the other. I just don't know, but then who can? At least my parents stopped traveling the USA selling lapidary goods & settled near all three of their surviving daughters. And they think we hung the moon. That's a comfort that they feel cared for. My oldest sister is more of a la-la- la person & use to giving directives/orders and my second sister is wound more tightly wanting to fiercely to control & protect everyone. Luckily, I am feeling physically & emotionally able to be the buffer/swing vote. I will have to follow through w/ my idea- let's do a sister thing that doesn't involve talking about our parents. Will give it some thought. If that isn't possible, I will try to do lunch w/ each separately.

Pam-- those quiet days can be just what we need- time to decompress, do a few chores, or simply relax w/ a book, a project, or other interest. Thx for the good wishes.

Naomi-- ha ha ha. Where I live, halfway between Cleveland & Pittsburgh, there are many Steelers's fan. A friend insisted on painting his garage black & gold! We have no real dogs in the fight... but I'd like to see Aaron Rogers ride his hot streak into the Super Bowl. Enjoy the fan excitement. Can't believe that Antonio Brown was unthinking enough to give Billcheck an edge w/ the FB nonsense. Geez-- BIllcheck will use that to spur the Pats. NOt a smart move since the early 4 game suspension for Brady finds him more rested in the post-season than he ever has been. Should be a great game. Have fun watching.
To all w/ a fav football team playing today- congrats on your team reaching this stage of the playoffs. Again, hope that everyone has fun watching the games.
