Good morning
Wow so nice to have two new people joining us!!
flower99, Welcome!! I need to check out the fitbit tracking too. Don't feel embarrassed at WW meetings. I would venture to say almost everyone knows how being over weight feels at those meetings. I have 65 pounds to lose. I only get embarrassed when I weigh in because I have stayed within the same 5 pounds (up/down) for two years. I over eat at night....a big issue for me.
gingerringo, welcome to you too! I do the same thing at night. I am divorced and cannot believe how I have let myself go over the past 10 years.
wwlurker, good to see you. I need to pick a way to track and stick to it. How was your weekend with company?
cj59, I do the same thing regarding food. I tell myself sometimes "it's just food, it will be here tomorrow"
I am doing so, so. I really don't know why I can't make the mental click to losing weight. I do enjoy my WW meetings (except the WI). No one makes me feel bad about it except for myself.
I have been doing good with my steps and water. I continue to work on the rest.

sunrose49, nice to 'meet' you! Sorry that I keep jumping in with comments but I just noticed what you said about overeating at night. I have exactly the same issue! I can do really well during the day and I end up undoing all the effort by overeating once the girls are in bed. I'm also divorced and I definitely let myself go, it's in the last few years that my eating and weight have really got out of control.

Thank you so much for the welcome! I’m already feeling relieved that I have a group of people that I can come to and give support to.
sunrose49 - I’m sorry that evenings are tough for you too. I know that I feel much more anxious at night and feel like I need to treat myself for making it through the day. I need to stop using food as a reward or to self-soothe. I’m hoping to get that under control.
Flower99 - I totally understand. I self-sabotage at night. It’s so frustrating.
Does anyone have tips or tricks they use to help with nighttime cravings?

gingerringo - I struggle at night too. I have the same stress relief cravings. I try to allow myself a real snack after the kids go to bed. On a plate and sitting down to take my time. I try to keep busy and have a drink (kombucha or tea) as well.

Hello Everyone - How nice it is to see so many posts flower99 - I didn't start exercising until I weighed below 300 pounds because I had a lot of knee and leg pain when I was heavier. Once I did start exercising all I've ever done is walking, since that's what I like and what works for me. Hope you find an exercise that you can work into your life gingerringo - Welcome to our thread, there are some wonderful supporters posting here What has worked for me with nighttime cravings are three things: 1) Saving a "treat" food for the last thing I eat in the evening, 2) Setting a time that I have to stop eating for the night - usually 7:30-8:00 P.M. and 3) Brushing my teeth after I've finished that last food so that I won't eat anymore in the evening. I only have water after that point. I know these might not work for everyone's lifestyle, but hopefully you can find the "tricks" that work for you. sunrose - I'm glad to hear you're doing well with your steps and water wwlurker - I know you lead a busy life, so I'm glad you have found some ways to help with nighttime eating My eating today is not very good, but I'm still sticking to several of my other good habits, so I don't feel completely off track. I've been having problems with roof damage at my house for almost 2 months now and working to get it fixed, and this is causing a lot of my stress eating. I'm hoping that I'll get back on track full time in May and I'm going easy on myself for not being perfect right now. I think that is helping me not to completely drop all my good habits. So maybe I've learned to be a little nicer to myself

Thank you wwlurker and cj59 for the support and great suggestions! I’ll be using them tonight!
cj59 - good job on being kind to yourself. It makes all the difference. I’ll try to do the same.

cj59, sorry to hear about the roof damage. It must be very stressful! I think you are doing really well keeping things semi on-track with the eating in those circumstances. I'm really fed up this evening because I felt like I'd done pretty well this week and then I weighed myself - I've put on 4 lbs! I shouldn't have weighed and I'm annoyed that I gave in and did it, and I'm annoyed that I've gained when I've been trying really hard

Good morning! cj59, I hate house stress - my house is huge source of stress for my family because we've outgrown it but don't have the time or money to get it ready to sell. I remember very vividly the day that I discovered the leak in our roof - I was rocking my daughter to sleep and noticed that the plaster in her room looked different. I stood up and touched it and it was mushy! We have a leaking window that we need to address and have been putting off. I get stressed every time it rains! sunrose49, sometimes I think you do just have to wait for it to click back in - I've gone several long stretches where I'm just not in a place where I can focus on my weight. I try to roll with it like you are. gingerringo, let us know how the night time struggles go. It seems like it's a common theme for many of us. Flower99 (you should register for the site so that I can tag you!) - the scale can be frustrating for sure. Sometimes it helps to stay off it if you can or read up on reasons why it fluctuates to remind yourself. Yesterday I was a bit over my target calories for the day (by about 200). I'm disappointed, but I had an unexpected business lunch and think that I did well overall. Tonight is date night for DH and I, so that will be a bit of a challenge. We're getting some of my favourite Thai food and I've only allotted myself a small portion of each. I've also only allotted myself two drinks. I'm hoping I can stick to it. The biggest challenge will be sitting through the kids' dinners without eating in order to wait for ours. I know that I'll be tempted to pick at their meals. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning
flower99, I weigh myself before going to bed and when I first get up. Not sure why because I've always weighed in the morning. Maybe the scale will down this morning for you.
gingerringo, I've heard before that brushing your teeth can help you to stay away from food. Let me know if you tried it.
wwlurker, that's a good idea to put a snack on a plate. A fellow WW member suggested that to me before. I need to try it again.
cj59, you had some good suggestions on helping with the evening munchies. I've heard about brushing your teeth. I wonder if doing that during the day would help too???
My biggest problem is wine at night. I have a couple glasses of wine and read after dinner. But the wine makes me forget all the good I did that day and I snack. I need to readjust my evening thinking. I've also heard that hot lemon water helps too. Maybe I'll do that tonight.

Hello Everyone
gingerringo - Hope you are doing well today.
flower99 - I'm sorry you saw a gain on the scale. If you have done well this week, it could just be fluid retention and you could weigh tomorrow and be down. Since my weigh-ins are at home I always do mine in the morning before I've eaten anything. And then I try to stay off the scale during the week because seeing the fluctuations in my weight "messes" with my mind
wwlurker - Hope you have a great time tonight and can stay on track with the choices you've planned for.
sunrose - I'm not sure how brushing my teeth during the day would work for me, but it might very well stop me from a binge. I guess I should try it the next time I'm ready to overeat during the day.
I'm still eating some junk food, but I have to admit it feels so nice not to be worrying about every bite I put in my mouth. I know I can only do this for a few days and then I have to get back on my strict eating plan, but I've realized I have to do this from time to time to keep from going completely off plan.
I realize now that I'd really gotten into a food rut, eating a lot of the same food all the time and limiting my eating time for only about 7 hours a day. While that was working for a bit, I don't think it was a good way for me to eat every day. I need to figure out how to mix things up a little bit.
I'm going somewhere tomorrow that I can only go to once a year and there is a lot of tempting food there. I've known this was coming, so I'll try to limit what I get to eat, but I'm going to enjoy what I do get and not worry about it.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning
cj59, I might try the brushing of my teeth after dinner. That seems to be my trigger time. I hope you enjoy today!
Waving to all
Met my step goal yesterday. Sun is out this morning so I am headed out for a walk and yard work.

Morning everyone! Last night was excellent. I stuck to the plan precisely. I also had a good talk with DH about our health and we are going to make some changes. He's not usually on the same page as me with this stuff so we will see. I think we have very different ideas as to how we should go about it. I checked in on the scale this am and I'm down a bit. It's a start. sunrose49 - good for you for getting your steps in. It's rainy here today so we are going on an American grocery run. cj59 - you seem to have a good idea of what works for you and what you need to do. I hope it gets easier for you.

Happy Saturday evening everyone! I hope you all have had a great weekend so far! It’s been a busy weekend so far. Lots of family functions and visiting friends. I’ve gone over my dailies a bit today, but tracked everything. My DH and I also went for a long walk this morning, so I feel like things are looking up a bit.
cj59- I’m so sorry to hear about your roof damage. That’s so frustrating. Hope you’ve had a nice weekend and you’ve been able to relax a bit.
sunrose49- I tried brushing my teeth to curb late night snacking and it seemed to work! Thanks for the suggestion! And great job getting those steps in!
wwlurker- Sorry that you’re dealing with house issues and stress too. I hope you had some relaxing time this weekend and enjoyed your date night! Thai food is my absolute favourite! I make Thai curry at least once a week! And that’s so great that you and your DH were able to talk about health goals. I need to do that too.
My DH leaves for a work trip tomorrow, and I look to food to keep me from getting bored. So I’m planning on keeping myself busy (I have a lot of house projects I want to finish) and making sure I have healthy snacks on hand. Have a great Sunday everyone and I will check in soon 😊

Good morning! gingerringo My DH used to work shift work. I liked to use the alone time to eat without his influence. For me, that usually meant foregoing meals in favour of snacks. Yesterday went well. We went to the US and got some American groceries. I stayed within my calories. I have my fitbit set to a 750 cal deficit per day but I also have a personal goal of around 1750 per day. I'm keeping pretty well to that, but that's not quite giving me a 750 cal deficit. So I guess I need to move more. Today is hot yoga and work. Hope everyone has a great day!
