Well, its snowing like crazy here and I think we have over 5 inches. They say its supposed to end late morning. School is on a 3 hr delay (most in the county are). So I hope its ok when I get to hit the road to pick the kiddies up.
My morning is all flipped- got my dinner in the crock pot- and some cleaning and laundry done. Leave for work in 40 minutes.
Have a lovely day- happy Monday all! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you didn't have to drive in the snow. I get caught up looking at patterns for quilts and crochet too, it's amazing you look up and it's an hour later Hope you enjoy the day off. Fortunately I ate the last two marshmallow eggs yesterday, so I'm done with Russell Stover until Halloween, then it's the Orange Marshmallow Pumpkins I like Phyl - I'm glad your service was nice yesterday and you were able to enjoy lunch out. Ruth and Meg - Hope you are getting some crafting done today. The pie turned out well and I enjoyed it. I won't make it again until next year sometime. Of course it didn't taste near as good as my mother's pie, but I've found that most foods don't taste as good as they did 40-50 years ago. I think it's because they are all so processed now. I lucked out and only got some rain last night, no snow. And there wasn't any leaking from the ceiling, so hopefully the tarps are working. I checked out some quilting websites yesterday and sure hope I get some time to work on a quilt again. I bought some Pink, Brown and Cream Reproduction style fabrics that I'd like to use for a wallhanging, so that might be my next project. Take care everyone!

Hello all. Im just getting here because we went to Walmart, then two grocery stores then home, stopped at the mailboxes so had to check the mail after we put away all the things that needed to go in the fridge and freezer, then had breakfast, cleaned kitchen some, and helped dh with putting on his chicken to cook, and put away some other things. You wouldn't believe the bargains I got. They had some laundry detergent and TP marked down.laundry detergent was 75 cents for ALL. They also had a tremendous price on Tide pods. I dont use pods. Ddil does but they're too heavy to ship or I would have bought them for her. Got a few other things at excellent prices too.
When we went out it was nearly 60 degrees. I worse a VERY light summer jacket. Well while we were out the temp began to plummet and now at 5pm it's snowing.
CJ, I know what you mean about things not tasting the same. I thought it was my taste buds. Nothing seems the same anymore. I'm glad you enjoyed it even though it wasn't like you remembered. Your fabric sounds beautiful and does definitely sound like it will make a wonderful wall hanging.
Ginny I'm glad you didn't have to go to work today and drive in all that snow. Im sure you're a very excellent driver but Im sure you'd prefer not to drive when conditions are iffy. It sounds like you got a lot accomplished in the time you had before you knew you didnt have to go in at all.Love the idea of a shawl. I made all those for the dgds but none for me. I also made a prayer shawl for my friend that recently died. They do have beautiful patterns for them..
I'm guilty of that too...looking at patterns...many more than I could possibly make. There was that little cartoon type thing that said, I think that rather than crochetinng, my true hobby is collection yarn...well mine may be one hobby of collecting yarn and the other collecting patterns.
Phyl, it was great seeing you yesterday. Whether or not you're doing crafts much or not we love to see you
While at WAlmart I got the yarn I need to make the Christmas tree skirt. I do have to finish the hat this week and dd's birthday presents since we'll...or at least I'll be seeing them this coming weekend. Then I have to take a day to do tax and get that done. Grandchildren in INdiana sent me such cute letters today. I have to write them back too because I'm sure that each day they're wondering if they got mail. Children do love to receive mail...hey even I love to receive mail. They also sent me papers on which they drew around their hands so that I would know what size to make their fingerless gloves and also told me what colors they prefer. Ddil hasnt sent the measurements of their Bibles yet though. I'll have to remind her or the kids
Meg, I hope you're having a good day too. Is Devin back in school today? It sounds as though you're getting a lot done on your blankets

Hello everyone,
I am trying to get back to normal after having DD home yesterday. I am always extra tired after I have had her home. I got up very late today. Devin went back to school so that kept him busy. I didn't do any crafting yesterday and so far I haven't touched it today. Last evening I watched Call the Midwife and another program that came on after that. I remember the way of life of the 50s & 60s in the UK. The National Health was in it's early years then and was very good especially for people living in low income areas like the east end of London. Though I have visited London several rimes I never visited the east end. National Health is not quite as food anymore and a big tax problem for the UK.
Ginny, sorry you are still having snow but it is good for a day off work. Our temps were 80 a few days ago but have dropped though it was quite hot today when out in the sun. How is the new baby ?
Ruth, I would love to see your house filled with fiber fill did you manage to subdue it? I have checked everywhere for fisherman's sandals on the web. There is just a gap in the size I want. I will keep looking perhaps they will become more available. I hope you got home before it got too cold and the snow started faking. Keep your light jacket handy you will need it soon. I guess my hobby was printing out patterns and hitting all the yarn sales but I DON'T DO THAT NOW THAT IS A NO NO.
cj, I know that the apples don't taste as good as they used to. I was told that is because they have engineered the fruit to all have the same size & color ect,. they have lost the flavor in the process. Well I guess it looks good on display.
Hi, Phyl, I missed you good to see you back.

Good morning!!
CJ- my dh swears that the ingredients are what taste different....sort of what Meg said about apples... milk no longer tastes quite the same and we cannot get exactly the same products/raw materials that we used to. Chickens are fed differently- therefore eggs taste different. I do know that the key to Weight Watchers is coming up with recipes that evoke a similar taste- close enough so that it works but does not have nearly the same amount of fat and sugars. Glad you made the pie and enjoyed it- even if it did not taste quite the same.
Ruth- glad you are all set with yarn for the tree skirt! I can imagine it will be so nice. Hope the pattern is easy enough. SPeaking of patterns, I hit issues with them while looking at shawl patterns. There was one, so very pretty- but all who reviewed it mentioned that the pattern was a disaster and that the person who wrote it did a horrible job writing it. GUess that is the flaw of internet patterns- many untried ones can get out there for use.
Meg- have you tried famous footwear for your sandals? Not sure if they have stores by you, but they ship everywhere. Love your resolve about printing out patterns and buying more yarn. Recently you have done a wonderful job of going through yarn and donating that which you will no longer use....Hey, you get your new glasses this week, right?
Cold and rainy here. Started working on another pair of fg. After that will switch to hats for the grandkids. Or pillowcases. Or who knows what.
Have a great day Ginny

Good Tuesday everyone.
Ginny, I think that it's so funny that you said you normally would have had the day after Easter off but had to work yesterday to make up for a snow day and then yesterday turned into a snow day.
Yes some of the patterns online are tested and if so the designer usually mentions that it is. Some designers actually look for people to do testing. Some though post patterns for various reasons and have no testing and sometimes those patterns just do not work. There is one for a beautiful scarf that I tried to make and no matter what I did, couldnt get it to turn out right.
Making hats for the grandchildren sounds like a great idea. One year my ddil asked if I could make everyone and owl hat and my ds and dgs an angry bird hat so I did. Haven't got back to making them hats again but in 2016 did make hats for all the grands here and for ddil and sil. As I mentioned yesterday the other grands all want fingerless gloves so when i get done with what I have to finish this week I'll get back to those.
Meg, yes having dealt with developmentally challenged individuals I can imagine how tiring it is to have Janet home for the day.Even though shes your daughter and you love her it is tiring for us as older people to care for disabled adults and also to care for children. Now that Devin is older and can entertain himself and seems to be good at doing that it's, I'm sure, much easier to be there alone with him now than when he was a toddler for instance
Changes in the way food is grown is one of the rants my dh goes on. There was a time a couple years ago when the US gov't was going to give gmo corn to a third world country where people were starving and people were all up in arms about giving that food to people and the country itself refused that food. Well I'm sure that people who were starving would love to have any food they can get and that's what dh says is feed people and don't worry about it being gmo.Keep the people alive. Personally I don't know much about it and don't know what the harm is that's supposedly involved but I know that if I were starving I'd eat probably anything that I could get.
Meg I thought our apples didn't have a good taste because I can't get the same apples I had back in NY where a lot of apples are grown. They keep coming up with new varieties of apples all the time. I guess because people don't like the ones we already have.I like a nice crisp tart apple. I really don't like Red Delicious apples at all...too sweet.
Well better get to doing some of the other things that I need to get done. I'll see you all later. Have a great day ....or what is left of it

Hi to you all, I just got back from the hairdresser. I got a hair cut which I desperately needed. I was trying to let it grow as I thought I would like it about shoulder length. But I just hate it when it gets to a certain stage it looks so messy. I haven't touched any crafting since Saturday. I went to bed early last night but if I go to bed early I wake up after a couple of hours. I had a sort of restless night. I will try and get into my usual routine. Devin will come home an hour later today as he is going to go to a science program I am sure he will enjoy that. I think it may be just one day a week.
Ginny, I used to love apples but I don't eat as many as I used to. I do eat apple sauce with my cream of wheat every day. I don't care whether my apples are perfectly round and they all look alike I would much prefer the taste be better.
Ruth, The Famous Footwear store closest to me closed a few months ago and I miss it. They do have other stores here but I am nor sure where they are. I did check their web site and they didn't have them. I did buy the sandals at their store and also ordered them at their web site. I will just keep checking or I will settle for something else.
cj, no new glasses yet probably later in the week. When I am reading I read with just one eye. My right eye is stronger than the left.
I am sleepy so I should take a nap . Have a wonderful evening.

Hello Crafters Meg - I've been watching Call the Midwife since the first season and I'm still enjoying it. I do miss some of the actors that aren't on the show anymore, but the new ones are good too. I taped the show that came on afterwards and hope to watch that one day this week. Ruth - How cute to receive those pictures of the hands of your DGKs so you can know what size gloves to make. Ginny - Hope you don't get any of the snow that's coming from the Midwest. They are saying we might get snow on Saturday - where is Spring? Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting in. I haven't done anything to talk to about today, so I'll just say Hi

Good eveninh!
Meg, congrats on a much needed haircut- it sure feels good, doesnโt it! And I completely agree, I just like my apples to taste good, who cares how they look. I like honeycrisp and empire. And like Ruth, am not a big fan of red delicious- a variety which was created becasue it looks so pretty. Does not taste very good in my book. Have you tried Walmart and kohs for your sandals? Even Lands End?
Ruth- yes they have changed how they grow some (most) of our food. Unless you are wiling to go organic. So right, my region of NY grows a lot of apples. I can think of at least 6 orchards in my town alone.
CJ- glad you are enjoying Call the Midwife! THe worst is when a favorite series ends, never to return. Kind of like losing a family member. My Dh and I really enjoyed watching Turn- a series about General Washingtons spies during the Revolutionary War. It was an excellent series. Too bad it followed history....so the war ended- therefore the series.
My box of fabric came!!!!!! Not sure when I will start the quilt, but its nice to look at and dream. G

Meg, I checked in here last night...or tried to I should say. the site was down. A little while ago I tried and it was down again today. Of course I did post here earlier. I was just checking to see if anyone had stopped in.
I finally called Walmart Home delivery and asked what happened to my refill. I ordered it online as I have many times before. I got an email saying it was on my way and I had paid with my discover card but it never arrived. The young man I got on the phone had no clue whatever what he was doing and just kept saying "I don't know" so I did say well someone there has to know so would you ask someone else and see if you can find out. Finally he came back and said he had talked to his supervisor and that person said that a lot of times things ordered online don't get done. Well I think that's a poor way of doing business and I've never been happy with Walmart's pharmacy either in the store or online to the Home delivery service. Unfortunately we cant change part D till October but even though it will cost more Im definitely going to change this year when the time comes. So now I'm going to the Discover site and check my statement and see if I got charged.
Had a long chat with my dd so the day is nearly over and I haven't done much else. Gotta do bills. See you all later.

Just a quick post before I take off to knit.
cj, I watched Call the Midwife the first season and I think I have a DVD for all the shows. For some reason I only watched a few of the shows on season 2 and then I forgot to watch. But I am going to watch all the shows this season. I used to watch Doc. Martin. That ewas a fun show to watch. I suppose it off the air now. I missed the first part of the show that followed Call the Midwife but it was a good show. I love to watch the British shows.
Ginny, when my hair gets shaggy I can't stand it and it is much easier to manage when it is short. I have checked all the show companies I can find on the net. I had forgotten about Lands End. When I go on line I am bombarded with show adds. there are fisherman's sandals from infants to men's size but not big boys sizes 5 & 6 .
Ruth. I hope you get your order from Walmart or your money back.
I am off to read or listen and probably some knitting. Have a good night and sleep well.

I seem to have missed CJ and Ginny's last messages.
Ginny, I"m glad to hear you got your fabric. It's great to have it in the house even if you don't plan on using it right away, then when you get time and are in the sewing mood it is right there and ready for you to work with.
Yes there have been several series that dh and I would watch for awhile and then they dont make anymore. some of the shows were really good.
Meg, I'm sorry that you can't find the sandals you need. Some sizes are just so hard to find.
CJ, there are many days when I don't do anything that I think is worth talking about but, you know me, I talk anyway.
I would really love to finish this hat today but that probably won't happen as I have a few other things that I need to do.
So I'll go and get started on some of those things and will see you all later.

Good afternoon!
Meg, so sorry you are being bombarded with shoe ads. (I see a lot of fabric/craft ads- understand!). Hope you can find some sandals you like. Try Gander Mountain, Dicks Sporting goods, LL Bean, Walmart- you have probaby been to most of them already but if i think of another company I will let you know. Somehow, somewhere these sandals must exist! (Try Sams- dont you have a membership there? Sometimes they carry stuff like that.). Regarding hair length- well of course its personal taste, I like mine long enough that it can still be pulled up into a pony tail or something like that, but still short enough not to look silly. Agreed, I like most of the british shows also..
Ruth- do you have a choice who you use for your prescription meds? I have had good luck with Caremark (mail order pharmacy of CVS, if you remember them). Hope you get your meds and billing all straightened out. How frustrating it is!!!
Went to restock milk and a few other thiings this am- then went for a walk with Dh. Got my dinner made and am now resting before I go back to work. We are in for high winds, which my 11 foot high school bus will most likely feel the effect of. 12 weeks left of school...... Working on the 2nd pair of fg. Am getting the hang of the pattern....
