I no longer take a multivitamin after reading that they were not effective. I take D2, B12, fish oil, citracal, and other supplements. One is TJ vitamin C energy complex. I take CoQ10 and probiotics too. Several were suggested by my primary care physician. I eat very healthy balanced meals with lots of fruit and vegetables.

Same for me, Audrey. There is still some debate about supplements but I still do D, fish oil, niacin and B complex. My physician recommended niacin to help me manage my cholesterol numbers and it helps. My food choices are also healthy and include a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. I also notice that sometimes I crave certain vegetables and it makes me think that my body must need those minerals.

I too stopped the multi vitamin. I take D3, magnesium and caltrate (calcium + D3) I wish there was more definitive recommendations about supplements but there is always conflicting information about their effectiveness. I rely on fruits and vegetables and a balanced diet to provide most of what I need.

Hah. I though I was the only one. I also stopped taking a multi a few years ago. I was watching one of the many doctors (can't remember which one) on PBS and his thought was there were too many metals in standard multi-vitamins and that it could possible contribute to the "tangles" that cause Alzheimers (sp). I take a number of supplements, C, D, B and a probiotic.

I missed posting yesterday so will get to it today. Yesterday I got busy with some house-related activities, and treated myself to seeing Hidden Figures. It was excellent and had me tearing up several times. I've put the book into the queue to see how it compares. I also made the SkinnyTaste Fast and Slow Vegetable Yellow Split Pea Soup. It includes yellow split peas, butternut squash, carrots, celery, onions, garlic and spinach, plus seasonings. It was tasty and made enough for an army of Weight Watchers. I think my crockpot must get too hot at the low setting as it was kind of burning around the sides mid-day, and I felt the need to add more liquid. It's still awfully thick, so I may add more liquid to the leftovers. Don't know if I'll make it again. I'm home alone for a couple days, and this isn't one my husband would appreciate, but it's a good one for me.
To the topic at hand. I do not take a multi-vitamin, but do take daily fish oil, Calcium +D, a separate D3, CoQ10 (at the suggestion of my doctor), and I have a monthly B12 injection. I'm thinking of adding Glucosamine Chondroitin to the mix (again at the suggestion of my doctor), but I've never been convinced it does anything, and the price always gives me pause. Our cold, damp weather is making the old joints ache, so maybe it would help.
Today I'm going to tackle applying a frosting film to 2 bathroom windows, then get back to my photo organization project. Maybe I'll go to another movie. That should keep my fingers out of food.
Have a successful day everyone!

Good morning everyone
I also do do not take a multi. I take D3, fish oil, CO10, red yeast rice.
Well....we are still here.😀 didn't float away. We are shocked how much rain we have. Going to rain off and on all day today with thunder, lightning and hail. 🙀.
The contractor is coming here today to take out guest bathroom floor. Tomorrow is cabinet install. It has been stored in our living room. Will be nice to get it out of there.
Yesterday worked on on tax preparation and basically spent most of the day reading and watching the rain.

I seem to be the only one who takes a multi-vitamin. I take One-A-Day for Women over 60. I also take a calcium supplement at the recommendation of my doctor. I take Glucosamine Chondroitin. And I take an omega-3 oil supplement for eye health at the recommendation of my optometrist.
As far as tax prep, every January I set up a file for the upcoming year's tax stuff. As the year goes on, I have a single place to collect all the charity donation receipts, property tax receipts, safety deposit box receipts, MRD statements, 1099s, 1098s, W-2s, and whatever else comes along during the year. Then when I sit down with the tax prep workbook from the tax guy, I have all my stuff together. Last night I read through the workbook to see if there is anything different this year. The only new thing I see is the documentation that we were both covered by health insurance all year.
Yesterday I tried a new recipe for Lasagna Soup. It was published by the Penzey's Spice people. The ingredients were all benign power food things, except for the cheese that you add at the last minute. And you can easily control how much cheese you use. It is supposed to taste just like lasagna, but be quicker to prepare, and lower in calories! I haven't tasted it yet; I'm going now to heat it up for lunch. I'll let you know.

I'm also afraid of all those metals in the multies. I do take a number of supplements my doctors want me on D3, Magnesium, Fish Oil and B-12. Super windy here today - lots of branches down that will need to be broken up and bundled - ugh. decolady Marilyn sounds like the remodel could go on for months yet. It will be amazing once its all done I'm sure :-) Carol looking forward to your soup review! Have a good day everyone!

I stopped taking vitamins awhile ago. I take Vitamin D at recommendation of my doctor (I think it is an age thing) I used to take organic fish oil (liquid) but haven't for quite awhile. My bone density is excellent. I think I am on the right track with the nutrients I get from foods I eat. Marie

Sorry to be getting here so late. It was one of those days... Terrible weather here as well, sleet, wind and cold. Ugh.
I stopped taking a multi awhile ago when I also read that it really doesn't do much good. Also stopped taking calcium due to the kidney stones plus I've heard it's much better to get calcium in food than take supplements, not that I get a huge amount that way. I have had low Vitamin D before and took supplements for awhile and it got back into normal range, but then I stopped taking it and haven't had blood work done in over a year, so I have no idea where I stand. I should probably take it again, especially in the winter here in the northeast where we have NO sun and our bodies need the vitamin D to keep our bones strong. I guess the multi vitamin thing is one of the old WW recommendations that isn't really applicable anymore to many of us.

Soup Review: Lasagna Soup, published in a booklet from Penzeys Spices called Love People. Cook Them Tasty Food.
The intro to the recipe says it tastes like lasagna, but takes half the time. I put it into Recipe Builder, and it came out at 5 Smart Points, mostly due to the cheese.
The recipe called for ground beef (I used 93% lean), onion, bell pepper, chicken broth, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, a whole bunch of different Penzeys Italian spices, and small noodles (I used whole grain shells). At serving time, you stir in Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese. I made it on Sunday afternoon, then put it in the fridge and re-heated it and served it Monday. My logic was that lasagna tastes better the second day, so lasagna soup should taste better the second day too. When I pulled it out of the fridge, it had thickened up quite a bit and I thinned it down with more chicken broth.
The soup ended up kind of like an Italian chili. It was good, and hearty on a cold and rainy day. DH liked it, especially because I served it with sourdough toast spread with garlic butter. I thought it was a good beef-and-tomato soup, but I wouldn't compare it to lasagna. I will make it again because DH liked it.
