Welcome to a new week Crafters!!
Ruth, congrats on getting the little octopuses done (did I get the plural right? I fofget!). They sure went easier than the big hat did.
I get to stay home a little bit longer this am- but will be gone all day. Typically i go for a long walk for lunch- there is a nice walking trail a short drive from the class location. Figure I will do that today too.
Hope everyone has a good day Ginny

My post just went poof off to cyberspace. Ginny, how great that your class ended early. I used to love when that happened. It's great to have unexpected free time
So far today Ive been cleaning and making more attemps to organize my craft cave. What I need to do, I guess, is get busy and use some of this. Problem is everytime I make something it seems as though I need different yarn than I have in my stash. The octopuses were made from leftover but they didn't take much and left me with even smaller amounts of those colors. Like Meg I look at the new yarns being sold and want those too. FG take more yarn than you would think but still don't put much of a dent in my stash.
Dh came up from his nap which must have lasted all of 10 minutes so I'll see all of you later. Have a great day

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
I forgot to thank you all yesterday for your support on my weight loss struggles. We've all been there I'm sure and I do appreciate the support I'm back on track again.
I was shocked yesterday that I was in the mood to work on a quilt. I think reading all the blogs from the Slow Stitch Sunday posting gave me some motivation. So I did some cutting of fabric yesterday evening and finished cutting out the fabric for 6 blocks today. Hopefully tomorrow I can work on doing some piecing.
Here's what I'm working on:
www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/double-churn-dash-quilt/index.html?utm_campaign=newsletter_03232018_qt_t220&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=msqc&utm_content=button1&utm_term=qt_t220&M_BT=44907198152
I'm only going to make 4 of the big blocks of this quilt and make a wall hanging, unless I decide to do a table runner. I'm making this with the Cream, Pink and Brown fabric I bought a few weeks ago.
www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/totally-tulips-quilt/index.html - I'm only making two of these tulip blocks. I'll probably just do each one as a separate small piece.
I was trying to get as much done today as I could in case I lost my motivation again
The weather here is cloudy and cold. I heard a few raindrops earlier but I don't think we're supposed to get rain. It's going to be up in the 70s later in the week.
I also made some of the 2 Ingredient Dough today and made 2 bagels - one plain and one cinnamon-raisin. I had just enough yogurt (1/4 cup) left over to make another small batch of the dough and I put it in the fridge and I think I'll make a small pizza tomorrow.
Take care everyone!

Yes CJ, I've been there many time...Losing and gaining and all over again. This time I'm down to a weight I never in my wildest dreams thought I could get to and I'm determined to stay there. I know you are too. You did the losing part and you can sure do the maintaining too. I'm glad you got your motivation to work on quilts back again. Quilts are just so beautiful. I went to the sites you linked us to and they are just wonderful. It always amazes me that people can take just squares and put them together is so many ways to make something that is so beautiful!! The colors you mentioned sound wonderful too. You really have a great talent.
Well I can now walk into my craft cave. I also keep other things in there too actually. Extra paper supplies..paper towels, tp, etc.. and also some clothing, lightbulbs, and gifts I've bought in advance. So it's nice to be able to go in and see where everything is. Besides all the yarn I also have a lot of fabric and sewing supplies as well as a large supply of knitting needles even though I don't knit much. Oh and there are toys in there too in case kids come to visit. There also are some books and other reading material, videos, dvds, small exercise equipment pieces, and even a box of fireworks which we can't usually use because of fire bans. So it's definitely a well used room. It used to be my ds' bedroom. I'd actually like to put a twin bed back in there but dh isn't fond of the idea of buying another bed and we actually rarely have people spending the night anyway.
Ok back to work I go.

Good evening!
Ruth, hope that you were able to accomplish what you wanted to in straightening up your craft cave. Think we all understand the chaos that can so easily grow in a crafting area, it can just run wildly out of control - especially when you are considering working on a project and looking for supplies. Yours does sound like a multi purpose room too- an area that you have not been able to completely dedicate to crafting- and that brings challenges too. My dear quilting buddy (online friend and she does some serious quitling) has to share her sewing area with other uses....it seems like its something that is common. What will your next project be? And congrats on being able to walk into your craft area! Nice progress!!!
CJ- glad you were able to get the momentum to get some quilting time in! The tulip quilt is adorable, and would make a lovely small wall hanging or table runner. I remember checking out the churn dash tutorial a few weeks ago- such a nice traditional pattern!! Think the cream/brown/pink color scheme will be gorgeous....hope you had fun working with fabric again!!
Well, my class lasted 5 1/2 hours- which is the amount of time I work each day- so when they let me out early I just came home. Actually the class was pretty decent and it was nice to see some people that I used to work with. A pretty good day all in all. Hope after I finish onine here I will be able to crochet for a little bit.
Cold here too and they are saying that we might have some snow (only a small amount) tomorrow morning.
My hat is off to those of you (Ruth and CJ) who have done so very well at staying at or very near goal weight. I need a serious kick in the can to get back on program. Its a daily struggle- as each of us knows.
Have a good night Ginny

thank you Ginny and CJ for the congratulations and good thoughts on me getting the octopuses done.
Ginny, i though maybe the class was one of those horrible ones that lasted for 8 hours or so. Anything that long is way too long. I'm glad your's was shorter.
Have any of you heard of weighted blankets? I never have heard of them until just a couple minutes ago when I saw a pattern for one. They say they're used for anxiety, ADHD and Autism. Well I can't sleep without some weight. Right now I have five blankets. Now so much for warmth but for the weight so maybe there's something to that.
Dgd messaged me so we're going over there tomorrow. They'll probably leave here on Wed to make sure they get back home before her bf has to go back to work and that they won't get stuck here because of bad weather.

Ruth, enjoy the visit with DGD. Yes, I have heard of weighted blankets.....never saw a pattern for one though. I would think they use a lot of yarn.
Got to attend a seminar....bbl - after I drive my trip (sports team). Ginny

Going to get ready in a few to go over to dd's house but had to stop in for a minute.
The weighted blanket pattern I saw called for super bulky yarn or 3 strands of ww held together. Sounds like a heavy blanket to me. One of my grandchildren wanted a "really thick" blanket but I'm sure that would be way too heavy to send so Ill let the parents buy the heavy blanket.
Have a good seminar and safe sports trip Ginny, and CJ and Meg...enjoy your day
Hi to Phyl if you stop in

Hello everyone, I am happy to see that you are all keeping busy. This past couple of days I have been reading and I will probably start an audio book later today. Then I will get some crafting done. I didn't get anything done yesterday because I had my eye treatments in the morning. I came home and had a long nap to rest my eyes. I have a hedge along tne side of my driveway and the leaves turn red at this time of the year and it gets flowers on it which I hope will die off soon. Devin and I are allergic to the flowers.
cj, well I am glad things are going well for you. Getting back to staying on your food plan is a big step. I am glad you are back to quilting and that will keep you busy and on plan. When I am busy crafting I don't nibble as much.
Ruth, good for you maintaining your weight. I am doing quite well at the moment and I hope it stays that way. I could lose a few pounds but I am quite happy where I am at. Lucky you to have so much space to store supplies. I do like to have enough supplies so that I am always having to make trips to the store.
Ginny, I am glad your class went well and you managed to find a little time for yourself when it was over. I am glad you got to chat with old friends, that is always fun. I have never heard of a weighted blanket, I will have to check them out. I do knit with 2 strands of yarn but I think knitting with 3 strands could get a little heavy going. I don't like sleeping with a lot of weight on top of me and I would probably end up kicking a heavy blanket off.
I have been having a lazy day but I need to get dressed so that I can get Devin when he gets out of school. On Tuesday He goes to a science club.
I wish you all a great evening.

Hello Crafters Ruth - Congratulations on being at your lowest weight, I wish you the best in keeping the weight off. I hope you had a nice visit with your DGD. I've heard of weighted blankets, but have never seen one. I've made a few blankets using the Bernat Blanket Yarn and that makes a very heavy blanket depending on the stitch you use. Ginny - I'm glad your class went well. Hope the seminar today went well too. Meg - Hope you are enjoying your books and get some crafting in. I finished two of the Tulip quilt blocks today. They measure 10 inches wide by 18 inches long, so they're pretty small. I'm thinking it would be fun to hand quilt these. I hope to work on the Churn Dash blocks tomorrow. The weather here was sunny and milder today. We're supposed to have weather in the 70s and near 80 later this week. I'm not ready for really warm weather yet, so I hope we get some of the milder temperatures again. Take care everyone!

Good evening! Back from my bus trip, which did give me the time to get to the quilt shop and get thread. A good trip all in all
Meg,- so glad you could check in! Hope that your eyes settle down and that any irritation rapidly goes away. Hope that the red flowers go away soon!!! Allergies are such a pain- can you take anything to help you feel better?
Ruth, I cannot imagne working with 3 strands of ww yarn. That sounds nuts. Agreed, let the parents buy the blanket!!
Good to be home- and it will be nice to have a more quiet day tomorrow. G

Meg it's so good to see you. I hope those flowers are soon gone so that you and Devin dont have to suffer from your allergies to them. I still haven't started listening to ebooks while crocheting and I really need to do that. I hope your eyes are feeling better soon and that the treatments help
CJ, congrats on getting the blocks done. I know they're beautiful esp after seeing some tulip blocks yesterday on the site you posted. I love the churn dash ones too.
Ginny, I too hope you have a quieter day tomorrow. At least after tomorrow more than half the week will be done.
Went to two grocery stores before going to dd's house and when we got there no one was home. Turned out dd was at a doctor's appt.We went there and picked her up because she didnt have a ride home. I dont know how she got there. Dgd and dggs were there when we got back to dds house and we had a nice visit. Of course dggs who is just 18 months old doesn't know us so he was a little leary of us but he is very cute. After leaving there we went to Goodwill. When I was larger they always had very nice jeans just my size to I was hoping for that today too but was disappointed because in this small size all they really have is some that are designed for young teens...skinny legs and weird pockets.did find a nice shirt though. I'll have to go to the Rescue Mission's store. Last time I was there they had some really nice things so we'll see whenever I get around to going.I have very short legs too so length is always a problem but the ones I got there in the past always were a perfect length too....at GW that is.At GW they have a huge collection of shirts and tops but in all those they had there was only that one that even began to be nice and it was the one I got. I dont know who in the world owned all those ugly shirts but I think GW is going to be stuck with them because can't imagine anyone would want any of them
It was a beautiful day today and got up to nearly 70 but about 3 again it started to cloud over. I think tomorrow is to be warm too but then snow in the night.
So we did get everything done that we needed to get done so we'll be able to just stay home for at least another week and probably till the next week
CJ did you make your pizza you mentioned yesterday. and thanks for the congrats on me losing the weight and good wishes for me to keep it off. My dd was very impressed that I had lost. Guess she hasn't noticed until today. She is somewhat self centered and doesn't notice much about people around her usually unfortunately

Good morning!!
CJ- looks like we posted at the same time last night. Nice job getting the tulip blocks done. They must be so bright and pretty especially in this bright spring weather. Think using them to hand quilt is a great idea, a manageble project and a simple enough project to show off your hand stitching, becasue the tulip pattern is not that intricate. Hope you can enjoy the warmer weather- like you I am not into hot weather, but, well, spring is coming and there is not much we can do about - but try to enjoy it! Let us know how the churn dash blocks/quilt top comes out.
Ruth- yes, its a huge accomplishment going to a weight below where you even thought you could get to! A few things I have learned about weight loss- some people do not know how to give compliments, some people are afraid to make a comment about your weight, some people think that you looked better at a heavier weight (perhaps because they are used to you at a heavier weight) and some - well - they are just so into themselves that they do not notice. Congrats to you for losing and maintaining. Hope you can enjoy the warmer weather for one last day before the snow. The one thing about shopping at consignment stores and family stores like GW is you are subject to what others bring in and donate. I have a coworker who shops there with her Dd- and they look amazing- they manage to find such lovely items to jazz up their wardrobe.
Nice to have a day when I can just drive and be home.....sunny here- getting a bit warmer too.
Better get to some housework. G

Good morning everyone. Ginny, yes I'm sure it is great to have a day where you can do what you usually do and have the times of rest between trips. That housework is always there. It's a never ending thing. Yes some people really are into themselves and my dd is one of those. There are a lot of thingsI she doesn't notice around here. Some people do actually look better at their weight before losing. Some it takes time for the body to adjust so that the person doesn't look like a concentration camp victim. I think that sometimes it depends on how they went about losing. If you exercise while losing I think you're less likely to look as though you starved yourself.I guess I don't look too bad because no one gasped in horror thinking I was dying of some wasting disease.
Today I was planning on planting my seeds...tomato and cilantro then maybe others later. I also want to look for dh's heavy straps he bought for tying things down on a trailor. They were always sitting in one spot in the dining room of all places but one of us has moved them and they're no longer there so I may spend a little time looking although I've already looked where I thought for sure they would be...right next to a trailer hitch that they've always been with...the aren't with it now. Tomorrow is set aside for doing tax and this time I really need to get it done.Won't take all that long I just need to get started.
Ddil sent me a message that she's going to send picture of some crocheting that two of the dgds have been doing. I taught the first three of their children how to crochet but these two were only 3 and 18 months when I taught the others so I guess their older siblings must be who taught them or they watched a youtube. Wish I lived nearer.
Well I'm going to get started on some things so will see you all later.
CJ, enjoy doing those blocks.
Meg, rest and do some reading
