Jenny Doan sounds like my kind of quilter. As you know I mentioned that I was afraid to make quilts because I don't know the "rules". Well no one would see mine anyway so why not give it a try.
Ginny, yes it would have been great if you could have just stayed at home all weekend and enjoyed relaxing and doing what you love best but sometimes things just don't work out as we would like. We do what we have to do and cherish the time we have to do what we like best. It sounds as though the person you told about your feelings about that father was very insightful. And yes, there are lessons to be learned there. Sometimes I don't see the good in a situation either. Another thing I admire about Meg is that she recognized that it would have been too hard to continue to have Janet living at home. So many people havve guilt feelings and can't bring themselves to have their loved one with special needs..be it developmental delay or elderly person with dementia... live in a place that they can be cared for and in some cases taught life skills that we are unable to teach them, and then they overburden themselves, harm themselves sometimes physically and emotionally by overwork and make it harder also for the person that would really also benefit from being in an alternate living situation.Being a carefiver 24/7 is a horribly draining task and can easily damage our health
CJ, that does sound too hot. It's to get to 72 tomorrow they're saying now so I may ask dh if he wants to drive out to one of our reservoirs and stroll around looking for nice rocks and watching the birds. After that it will cool down some but not horribly cold so thats ok with me. We undoubtedly will have a couple more snow storms before actual good weather comes and stays.
I did get the fingerless gloves done. I abandoned the first pattern for now and went to a very easy one so it actually went pretty fast. It was still a cable but much easier to follow. I do have to sew the seam and weave in ends though, maybe even crochet around the thumb opening. Now I'm going to try to downsize the fg in a pattern I want to make for 4 yr old. It's an adult pattern but I'm sure I can make it small because it doesn't have any features that call for a certain way of doing things...for instance it has no thumb gusset.
