And, Ginny, I think that on your baby blanket, although it is pretty in three colors, that it will be much more elegant in just one color so my next project is doing that...one color..with ridges. I'll use the three colors of this cupcake yarn for something else...maybe granny square one big granny square.
Oh and you asked what size I'm making it. I'm just making it as the pattern calls for and I think she says it's about 30x32 or something like that. or maybe keep going till the yarn runs out. I'm not sure yet but I did do the cast of the 106 she called for
I''m going to take time out now to make dh a cozy type thing for his metal water bottle which he uses to take his iced coffee when we go out shopping or whatever.

Hi everyone, It has been a busy day. I didn't sleep well last might so I was a wee bit droopy today. It was hot and sunny this afternoon and I went to Knit Wits. There were about 26 ladies there today. which was more than usual. I have been working on the b/blanket I am crocheting and it is almost finished. I will have ends to weave in and I will finish it with a border.
Ruth, I have been thinking of making one big granny SQ. I haven't made one of those for awhile. I will crochet the waffle stitch b/baby blanket when I get around to working on it. It is quite easy to make a b/blanket using this stitch.
Ginny, I am glad that you were available to help your DD out. I hope her kids get better soon and that the new baby does not get sick. She has her hands full. I am glad your DD#2 is doing so well at college. I am sure you are very proud of her.
cj, I hope you are getting a lot of quilting done. I noticed that Walmart has a good price on fans and I was thinking of buying a couple. I do have central heat and air and the fans help to circulate the air. I do have some ceiling fans that I need to get DS to clean. They do collect a lot of dust and I can't reach them.
Now I am going to relax and do some reading. Have a good evening.

Good morning all. It's still morning here at least. Meg, I didn't go back to my computer last night so didn't see your post then. I too, had a hard time sleeping the night before so I actually went to be early last night and slept about 11 hours. Not constantly...did wake a few times but today Im nice and rested. Congrats on getting your blanket nearly done. I do agree that a crochet waffle blanket is easy to make and looks very nice. 26 is a lot of people in a knitting group. I don't know that we ever had that many at our Caps for Kids group. I think we usually had about 16 or so. I took the refreshments a couple times and always took way more than was needed because I always thought that maybe more people would show up. After the meeting I usually took the leftovers to the other people who were at the senior center where the meetings were held and also into the offices...didn't need the temptation at home. I hope you got rested also after your bad night's sleep
This morning I've been looking at more patterns. I wanted to find some appliques for dgs' fingerless gloves. He's 4 so I was looking for cars, dino's and other animals and found some cute ones but in the process I also found yet more patterns I want to make so I just really need to get with making all these. Some were for hair bands made on the elastic bands and I still have Ginny's pattern for scruchies to make. I'll have to share the hair ties link with Ginny as two of them are really cute and really easy and I think your dgd, Ginny, would love these. There were also patterns for little bags, like makeup bags or evening bags and I'm sure little kids would like these to store and carry their little treasures. They're lined which I've never done but I have tons of fabric that I can use for that and it would prevent things from falling thru the openwork in some patterns.I've even seen tutorials on how to crochet in zippers which I'm anxious to try and now am kicking myself for getting rid of my large zipper collection a few years back thinking I wasn't ever going to sew in zippers again. I'm sure though that there are places online that I can get zippers...hopefully at a low cost.
ok going to go work on some things before dh gets up and wants me to do other things.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend Meg - I'm glad you were able to go to Knit Wits, that is a large group but I'm sure it's motivating to see what everyone is working on. Ruth - Sounds like you have several interesting projects going on, I enjoy hearing about them. Ginny - Congratulations to your DD for the award, I'm sure you are proud of her. Hope you can work out what you need to do with that quilt and maybe find a video. I've never done a quilt as you go quilt, but there is a lot of information on the Internet about them. This is an idea of the pre-printed wholecloth quilts that I bought from MSQC: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/50448/benartex/-/garden-bouquet-wholecloth-pillows-kit-naturalIt's a beautiful sunny day here. I had my monthly lunch yesterday and it was nice to get out and visit with friends. I also ran some errands while I was out, so I don't need to go out this weekend I wanted to watch the funeral for Barbara Bush today and it was a very nice service. Take care everyone!

Meg, good to see you stop in to say hello! Gee, that was a big crowd at knit wits! Bet everyone waited for the nicer weather to get out. Must have been a lively crowd and I hope that your meeting room could comfortably accomodate everyone. The big granny square afghans are very pretty- I know that they are not too tough either. WHat color scheme are you thinking of using?
Ruth, well leave it to you to find new patterns!! I have never done lined crochetted items or put in zippers.....my DSIL in Florida probably has. I am sure you will be just fine with the process once you find good instructions., Let me know if you do try the scrunchei pattern- I am curious to see how it works out.
CJ- well I learn something new every day.....never saw preprinted whole cloth quilts but they sure do look so pretty. Glad that you got our forlunch with your friends and had a good time. I DVR’ed the service for Mrs Bush, will finish watching it later on.
Looks like I have a lot of work to figure out ths quilt as you go quilt....there is nothing specific about it online- so I will re read the directions a lot and try to figure out what I am missing.
Super tired today- its probably my allergies. Nice weather out too- but I reallly do not like yard work. Fabric and yarn call my name more loudly than weeds do.
Have a good day Ginny

Happy Saturday. It is a beautiful day here. I had to attend a memorial service at church this morning so I was up early. I could do with a nap now but DD will be here soon.
Ginny, I only watched the first 1/2 hour of the service for Barbara bush. I didn't think to tape it but they may show it again. I had to leave to go a memorial service at church. DD just arrived so she will take up most of my time this afternoon. My Knit Wits GP. is mostly retired and elderly ladies like me. We have a few ladies who are in their 90s. It's somewhere they can go and have an afternoon out. If and when I start a big granny SQ afghan I will decide on a color when I check out my stash. At the moment I am thinking about it. Does that count as crafting ?
cj, The library folk set up several tables for our Knit Wits Gp. When we want to take a break we go visit people at the other tables and check out what different people are working on. It is quite a social gathering.
Ruth, DS is trimming the hedge that Devin and I are allergic to. It had a lot of flowers and they are all gone so now I can have the doors and windows open. I hope I can work on my b/blanket later if I have the energy. I hope you find some appliques that you like . I have to go and take care off Janet.
I wish you all a wonderful Saturday.

Good evening Meg, Absolutely and totally that counts as crafting!!!! How else are we supposed to get our inspiration if we do not go through our stash of yarn and see what good stuff is in there?? I think you are right, someone might show excerpts (at the very least) of the ceremony for Barbara Bush- what I saw was very lovely and many personal touches added by her family. So sorry that you had to attend a memorial service....hope it was not someone close to you. Yes I can imagine that Knit Wits is quite a social gathering- I can imagine its pretty cool seeing what others are working on and what progress they have made on their projects. I am really happy for you that the annoyiing hedge is trimmed- lets hope that you are no longer bothered by it once it is trimmed. Hoping that your visit with Janet went well and that she was easy to care for today.
Got a little bit of crochetting done on the next fg (and I will let my friend try this one on before I get too much farther- her hand is much larger than mine). I also read a bit of those directions for the quilt.....might be making sense of it finally.

CJ, I'm glad that you were able to get all your errands done so that you could stay at home on the weekend and avoid weekend traffic and crowded stores. I'll go check that link you posted after I post here
Meg, enjoy the visit with Janet and I hope that you will then be able to spend the rest of the evening just relaxing and resting.
Ginny, I'm glad you're figuring out the quilt as you go. Its very frustrating to get all the materials for a project then not be able to figure out how to do it but I have every confidence that you'll do fine. And it's a great idea to have your friend try the gloves before you finish the whole pair and even one whole glove. I think a lot of people, for one thing, have a preference in how much of their fingers they want covered and how much of the arm. Then of course you have to have them large enough to fit around her hand.
It's been a tiring day. Dh and I spent quite awhile(hours) defrosting the freezer. The salesperson was sure right about spending the extra to get frost free but too late now and it was quite a bit more. We also found that, for some reason, we had at least 14 packs of hotdogs in there and we don't even eat hotdogs so they all went into the garbage. Too bad that all that money was wasted and that we didn't find them before the "best by" date so we could have taken them to the mission. After that I made (from scratch) macaroni and cheese, and au gratin potatoes then another hummingbird cake to use up the frozen bananas. Cake is in the oven then I have to make icing...cream cheese frosting and some bread crumbs to put on the mac &cheese and put that under the broiler and I'm done for the day. I'll crochet and read the rest of the evening which is going by rapidly. Kitchen could use a little cleaning but that will wait even though tomorrow I'll wish that it was already done. Dh actually did most of the defrosting and putting everything back into the freezer. I was just the "helper" in that whole project.
See you all tomorrow

Good afternoon!
Ruth, we forget what a miserable task defrosting a freezer is- I well remember my mom having to do that and it was an all day job. (My mom was a lousy housekeeper too, so it seemed to take even longer). But its always a nice thing to get the freezer cleaned up and all the spoiled or expired food cleared out. A busy day for you too, getting all that cooking done! And housework is very patient and will wait for you- although I think we all understand that feeling of wanting our housework done.
Attended church this am with Dd and her Bf. Then Dh and I went for a walk with friends- good to see the husband of the couple out and about- he had 2 stents installed this week to correct blockages in his arteries. Nice weather here- perhaps a little warm but its sunny.
I did get some crochetting done this am, and had my gf try on the partial fg to see how the fit was....so far its a good fit.

Hello to Ginny and all who come in later. Ginny it sounds as though you've accomplished a lot already today.
I used to have a chest freezer and all you had to do it push a button and it defrosted it'self. I always wanted an upright but after I got one I realized that it's worse than the chest. I don't know how I killed my chest freezer but I did have it a very long time. It's older than my son.
Did get my kitchen cleaned up and the button pushed on the washing machine but spent the morning reading mostly
I'll bbl, have to go check the washer.

Hello Crafters - Hope you have all had a nice day today It's a sunny, mild (in the 60s) day here and of course I haven't gone outside all day I did enjoy a day of watching TV and reading. I've also done some baking and cooking, so it was a good day overall. I've been off track with my eating, so I'm hoping for a better week ahead. It's a life long effort to keep the weight off, sure wish it was easier though. I haven't done any crafting but I'll check out Kathy's Slow Stitch Sunday blog today and look at the projects others are working on . Take care everyone!

CJ, it was nice here today too... 70 but tomorrow ill be cooler and Tues there's even a chance of snow again. Later in the week tho it will be 70 for at least five days...not sure after that.
It's good to see you here. I've been off track with my eating too and the scale has inched up a little again. Do you go to meetings? I don't. Haven't been to a meeting since points plus started.
I still haven't got to any crafting so will get busy with that in a minute or two. I rearranged my "pantry" instead. It's not an actual pantry but a little alcove that can't be used for much so we made it into a place to store canned goods and paper products.
Have a good evening all. Meg, how did the visit with Janet go? Bet you're resting today.
