We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Happy Friday everyone!
I would love to believe the video of Un and Moon crossing the DMZ together marks the beginning of the end of the conflict. There certainly is a lot to work out and verify.

Oh, I'm sure FM/JA will somehow, someway, try to screw things up if he doesn't get TOTAL credit for the summit meetings. I refuse to give him (JA) credit for this because of his horrible rhetoric, trashing past administrations, lying & name calling. To call the NK leader "honorable" is dispicable because of the way he's treated his own people. Nope, the only thing I want from this FAKE President, is GONE!

Good morning! I agree with the wish for the JA! Also with wishing and hoping there will be real substance with peace between the two Koreas. Like Linda, I don't give the JA any credit for any of this. It is all thanks to Moon of SK. But, you can bet that if there is credit to be given JA will try to hog it all, and if things don't work he'll lay any blame off on someone else. As for the whitewashed report from the Republicans on the House intelligence committee, shame on them! Disgraceful how they are willing to sacrifice anything to try and keep the JA in the WH and their own jobs in Congress. So Jr held his meeting with an admitted Russian spy, but Rs say there's no need to be concerned or look further into that. Sure, let's just put the whole country on Ebay and sell it to the highest bidder. As for the possible money laundering to aid the JA's campaign between Russia and the NRA, I'm just shaking my head in amazement.

Evidently, today is Pay It Forward Day. Remember, one small act of kindness sends a ripple thru the Universe. IMHO, everyday, should be a pay it forward day. A more peaceful world it would be, wouldn't it?!?!

Did any of you watch the WH Correspondents Dinner last night? I did not although I normally do. Just too tired of it all this year. From what I heard Michelle Wolf went too far with her comments both in being raunchy and some of them just mean. If any of you saw it, did you find that to be true? Off-color jokes are funny only up to a point, IMHO, and there's a fine line you do not cross in polite society. As for mean jokes, I don't think those are ever appropriate. There's a fine line there as well as to just how far to push a joke before it becomes mean rather than funny. But, since I didn't watch I can only judge by the comments I've heard this morning from some of the media.
Remember those good 'ole days when the President could both take a joke as well as deliver one, and when comedians knew where to draw the line? When you try to bully your way through the world as the JA does, it seems the lines start to become blurred for everyone. Just one of the many ill effects the JA has had on our country.

I did watch & I do think the comedian crossed the line many times. I felt uncomfortable with many of the things she said & I wasn't even in that room. Now, that being said, someone made the point this morning, that her monologue reflects the atmosphere the President (Fake IMHO) himself has brought to Washingtin. How many times does he cross the line, how many times does he tweet or say cringe worthy things, how many times does he just outright lie, & on & on & on. I think last nights dinner just gives JA & his team ammo to keep attacking the press & I regret that because the press for the most part is made up of honest hardworking people. Without the Press we would just be another 3rd world repressed country. Someone made the point, that maybe instead of comedians etc, they should just focus on reporting awards, honoring those that died for reporting the truth, giving scholorships to young wanna be reporters, etc. I hope that those that plan this dinner use last night as an example to change things in a more positive way. Times have changed & the way this dinner used to work probably just won't work that way anymore because of the nastiness that is so prevelant in politics these days. JMHO! I would love the Press to keep exposing this President & his team for the complete HYPOCRITS that they are, but do it in an honest way without lowering themselves to JA level....

Well said, Linda! As Michelle Obama said, "When they go low, we go high." The press, comedians, and every single one of us need to follow her advice. Stooping to the JA's level doesn't help anyone, but diminishes us all. He has brought this all on himself, but that doesn't make stooping to that low become the right thing to do. I think a lot of the media seems to have felt the same way you did about last night's monologue. Poor planning on someone's part just gives ammunition to the JA and those who believe his lies about the press being out to get him. As you said, most of the press are hard working people just trying to do their jobs. Without them, any hope for democracy is down the drain.

Hypocrisy at it's finest . . . the NRA and this administration have it honed to a true skill. It would be funny if it wasn't all so serious and sad.
