This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today It's a new month, so I'm hoping I'll do better this one that the last one So far it hasn't been very good, but I'm done with today and I hope to eat better and do better tomorrow. I know that food is not going to solve my problems, and will only cause more problems, so I need to get back on track. I appreciate all the support I get here

Thanks for starting the new thread cj59! I weighed in this morning because it marked 1 week of tracking and I lost 4.8 this week. I'm very pleased with that, although I know some of it was water and some of it was hormonal. It will be interesting to see what happens this week. Have a great day everyone!

Met step goal yesterday. Still keep forgetting to brush my teeth after dinner. I think I will set a reminder on my phone for tonight. ;-)

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today wwlurker - Congratulations on the weight loss!!! That's great success and I hope this next week goes well for you too. sunrose - Good for you meeting your step goal. What triggers me to brush my teeth is that I start thinking about eating something and it's several hours after dinner I'm back on track today and feeling better. I was a little worried this morning because I was anxious about making it through the day but once I planned out my meals I was able to stick to the plan. I think it's kind of sad that I realized I don't know how to "eat". I really can't think of food as something that fuels my body, it's always going to be something to either give me pleasure or numb me from bad feelings. I don't believe I can change my mindset on food at this point in my life, so I need to learn to deal with it on a daily basis. I've read a lot about WW Freestyle and I have to admit to myself that it just wouldn't work for me. I don't like many of the 0 point foods, and several of my daily foods are higher in sugars so I know I'd probably use up my daily points quickly. I'd go back to meetings in a minute if the old plans were still around, but I've managed on my own for 3 years, and I can do it myself if I work at it.

Good morning everyone! sunrose49 congrats on meeting your step goal. I've been lacking in that department. cj59 I don't think freestyle would work for me either right now. I need to be able to eat whatever I want, just watching portion sizes and moderation, with a view to balance. I also think it takes a level of planning which doesn't work for my life. I was up a couple of pounds this morning. It's a combination of things, including a high sodium day yesterday and hormonal stuff. I have an event tonight and don't know what to expect because I've never been to this one before. My plan is to avoid alcohol and have a full day with lots of veggies and protein so that I'm not hungry. I know if there will be a meal (I don't think so) or if there will be anything vegetarian so I want to go into it feeling satisfied. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great day!

Hi everyone, Hope you're all having a good day! sunrose49, congrats on meeting the step goal! wwlurker, cj59, I'm interested that you don't feel Freestyle would work for you. It is very fussy and I'm not sure it works for me either... but I will keep trying to persevere for now! I haven't had a very good start to May and I was embarrassed to post here. I've done pretty well at sticking to my plan during the day but I'm failing in the evenings. Part of it is just habit - I'm used to eating a lot and I seem to end up eating just to have something to do with my hands! However, tonight is Parents Evening at my kids school - which should at least be a temptation free zone!

@flower99 - you never need to be embarrassed to post here! We understand that we all have a rough go sometimes - that's what we're here for.
With me and Freestyle, I'm a vegetarian, so there are a lot of the zero point foods that I can't eat. That's part of it. But mainly, it's because it seems to be a bit fussy - like it takes quite a bit of planning and messing around with it to make it work. I'm married with three young kids and I don't do the majority (or really any) of the meal preparation in our house because I work a lot more than DH. So, going on Freestyle would either require buy-in from DH (unlikely to happen - he thinks WW is a gimic) or me taking over the meal prep responsibilities, which I don't have time to do. I find meal planning and preparation takes valuable headspace for me and I need all of the headspace freed up for work/home responsibilities, if that makes sense.

Hello! I'm new here. I've been on WW since March (2nd or 3rd time over many, many years) and I'm a "slow but steady" loser at 1 pound a week on average. No complaints, it's more consistent than low-carb alone was for me, and the scale is moving in the right direction

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today wwlurker - I'm like you in that I need the variety of foods. The minute someone tells me I can't eat something (that I like), then I definitely want to eat it I hope your event goes well tonight and you have some good food choices that fit into your plan flower99 - When I'm off track I often feel like I don't want to (or can't) post here but I make myself do it anyway because I try not to fool myself that I'm doing well when I'm not. And I really get so much support here, it's worth it. Hope you get back on track soon DotRen - Welcome to the thread Sounds like the plan is working well for you and that's a nice steady weight loss. As far as Freestyle goes for me, I don't like many of the free foods so that's a problem for me, but a bigger one is that if I get the mindset that a food is zero points, I can really overeat a lot of it. I could eat a whole rotisserie chicken in one day - really I'm still on track today and feeling ready to stay that way. When I weighed in after my 2 weeks of overeating I had gained 15 pounds! I'm shocked at how easily I gain weight. Hopefully some of that is fluid, but I have to get this weight off so I can be back at my goal weight. I know if I got off track for a couple of months I could easily gain 40-50 pounds. It's sad that it takes so long to lose the weight and no time at all to gain it back. Take care everyone!

Good morning everyone! DotRen Welcome! cj59 - sorry about your gain. It's so easy to do, it's great that you're looking at it as a reminder of how easy it is. That's the right attitude to have. Last night was a lot of fun. However, I ended up going out for lunch and dinner, so it was a big day, calorie wise. That said, I was only about 100 over what I burned for the day, and it was just one day, so I'm trying not to stress about it. One thing I like about counting calories is that it's a fresh start every day. I don't feel like I blew the week after one bad day, so I'm more likely to get right back on track. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Everyone wwlurker - I'm glad you were able to enjoy the food yesterday and only be 100 calories over, that's a success! I'm doing well today, that's 3 days back on track. It has helped that I've been eating the same meals for breakfast and lunch, so no big decisions to make. I have my meals for the weekend planned, so hopefully I can stick to them. Hope everyone else is doing well and that you have a great weekend!

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I did WW back in 07 and did really well on it. Super picky eater and this is the only "diet" that allows me to actually eat the things that are in my limited palate. Well FFWD to 3 weeks ago when hubby and I started freestyle. I am really struggling. It's great for him. He lives on fish which is zero points. I don't eat any seafood. I am actually up a point while he has lost 8 so far. I'm beyond discouraged. The old points seemed so much easier. All I know is it seems like everything I like is double the points it used to be and I feel like I'm starving all the time. Worse, I'm staying within my points and have gained a pound in 3 weeks.
I have muscular dystrophy so it's imperative that I get this weight off. I could use some encouragement.
