Hello Everyone donnalynn2 - Welcome to the thread! There is a lot of support here, so I hope we can help. I hope you can find a program that works for you. I've read a lot of about Freestyle and on this message board there is a lot of helpful information so maybe you can find some information that will help you on Freestyle. I'm actually doing an older WW plan - Momentum. That's the one that was out in 2009-2010 and points were calculated by Calories, Fat grams, and Fiber grams (capped at 4 grams). There is an app - ITracksBites (I think) that you can use to do that plan, and also Points Plus. Maybe one of the older plans would work for you if you don't mind not being able to use the WW website. I'm doing pretty well today. I really want to eat my stress, but I'm resisting and drinking water and other zero calorie drinks instead. I feel like I could float away I've been thinking about getting back below my goal and I've realized that I'm going to have to go through Maintenance again after I do. My daily points have just been so out of whack that I don't even know how many I can eat each day to maintain my weight. Maybe doing that again will help me get back to feeling like I'm more in control.

donnalynn2, what proteins do you like? Maybe the wonderful people here can make recipe suggestions so you get something more filling and with foods you like

I pretty much chicken and pork. I won't eat onions, mushrooms, peppers, or nuts. I'm like a kid. LOL.
If there was a diet where you ate nothing but potatoes and pasta I'd be a stick!
I have been good about that though! We aren't going to WW, doing it on our own. We did WW the first time. They offered it when we worked together right at our workplace, very convenient. Now I'm disabled, can't work and don't get out much. It's a chore just to do my PT. Between MD and a chronic bad back I'm pretty much sedentary. Once summer gets here I'll finally get excercise as I can get in the pool again.
Right now I'm at 333. I would love to get down to 200 but would be thrilled just to lose 75. That would make a huge difference.
I know it was easier last time in one way because 8 was working, not sitting at home all day but one of the reasons I liked WW is that I could still eat what I liked in moderation. I have been a coke a holic since I was a kid. When we did it before I swear a can of coke was like 2 points, maybe 4 tops. Now it's 9. Are you kidding me? Telling me to give up my favorite drink forever is something that is setting me up to fail. I'm not drinking 3 cans a day like I used to. I drink maybe 2 a week now and always within my points but when I do, I starve bc it is so many. It isn't just that, it's everything. Each item I eat seems to cost more and I'm left with barely enough points to make it thru the day.
Does anyone remember what the program was called around 07-98 ish?

Good morning
donnaalynn2, welcome!! Sorry I don't remember what was around at that time. I think cj59 said Momentum? Do you like Coke Zero? My son drinks that and he loved regular Coke and Mountain Dew so that was huge for him to give those up. You also said you like chicken. I eat a lot of chicken and stay away pretty much from steak, pork because they are higher in points. I eat egg whites with one slice of ultra thin Swiss cheese on it. I have one of those omelette makers for the microwave. I also eat veggie patty with that and one piece of light bread for 3 points. Free Style is diffidently different. The sugar has made a lot of things higher. I buy can chicken from Costco and will have that without mayo. It is also zero points. Do you like fruit? I also make hard boiled eggs and keep them on for a quick snack. Also free. Do you like hummus? That went down in points. Sorry for the long message....lol
cj59, you are a smart lady. When you do get back to goal doing maintenance again is a great idea!

wwlurker, that's great how you are doing the calories and start a fresh day without thinking you blew the whole week!
flower99, don't ever feel embarrassed to post here. We all understand. I struggle with the evenings every night. I feel if I could get that down I would be doing great. One evening at a time ;-)
Waving to all. Need to get moving for my WW meeting this morning

donnalynn2, have you tried the new Coke Zero Sugar? It tastes a lot more like the old Coke formula, to me. Chicken and lean pork make great stir fries! Add the veggies that you DO like:) Give yourself a whole day to do research on products your usual grocery store sells so you can look up the points and make an educated decision on your grocery list. Plan your weeks food, even if you don't want to "meal prep", having a plan on paper really helps. Youtube WW people like Amanda Cypert and Weight Watchin Mama have great meal planning ideas, and skinnytaste.com has weekly menus. There's always Pinterest, too. Just search "weight watchers freestyle" and whatever food you like - do many ideas! Right now it sounds like you're in the "I like this/I don't like that" brain box (lol) and that can take some work to get out of - so getting new and fresh ideas will help you a lot I love steak, as an example, and lean sirloin is 1 point per ounce, so I stick with that but I DO have steak several times a week. I am not a fan of ground turkey breast, so I make my burger patties with equal parts ground turkey breast (99% fat free) and 96% lean ground beef. A 5oz patty made that way is only 3 points. Ballpark smoked bun length turkey franks are just 1 point each and actually taste good. Good luck

Hello everyone! I'm back from my vacation and... back up on the scale. Quite disappointed but I can't change the past, only the present. I have meal planned for today so I am hoping for a good day. DotRen, Thanks for sharing YouTubers, I love YouTube and there are some great, inspiring people on there. donnalynn2, I'm a coke-aholic too, so I go back and forth between PointsPlus and calories. Though, if you're doing Freestyle, definitely don't starve on days you have soda! Those free foods are there for that. Also, I eat like a kid too, and I've found that the best way to think of it is to "add in the good stuff" . Like I'll eat Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, but I'll make some broccoli too (I actually like broccoli but if you don't you could pick another vegetable like carrots or a fruit like apple slices) and then I can cut down that heaping bowl to maybe just a cup and a half. And that's another big help for me. Measuring! Trust me, I'm going to fill that cereal bowl to the brim, but with my little food scale at least I don't fool myself about how many points it is. You are on the right track, it's just about trying different things and seeing what works for you! Build on your strengths! cj59, Thanks for starting us off this month! I think that's a solid plan! Whatever makes you feel like you're in control is the way to go. I want to stress eat so bad! Last night was terrible! Although there was a moment where I stopped and thought "Is there something besides food that would help with this stress?" Good luck on your plans, everyone!

Hello Everyone
donnalynn2 - I'm a picky eater too and I eat lots of the same foods over and over each week. I buy a lot of the already processed chicken products like Perdue Chicken Cuts and then add in vegetables to make a meal.
I did some searching on the older WW plans and it looks like the WW 1-2-3 Success plan was around in the early 2000s and maybe Quick Success before that. In the late 1990s it seems like they were still doing the old Exchange programs with set amounts of foods to eat day. If one of these plans was successful for you, you might want to do an Internet search for the old details.
Here's an old 2004 post on a website that you can probably find a lot of "historical" WW information about older plans:
www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weight-watchers/35435-123-success-vs-new-program.html
I used to go read on the 3fatchicks website a lot, I need to go back there. There are lots of success stories there and also just lots of information.
sunrose - Hope your meeting went well today.
DotRen - I love those Ball Park Smoked Turkey Franks and they are a lifesaver food for me when I'm really hungry for protein. I always keep some in my freezer because I've found they are getting harder to find in a lot of the grocery stores.
irisinnia - I hope you enjoyed your vacation and I'm sure you can get the weight back off. Even though I read often that we shouldn't go off our plans when we are on vacation or have a special event, I really can't buy into that philosophy. I think life is really too short to worry about every bite of food I'm putting into my mouth when I'm trying to enjoy my vacation or going to a special event. I know we can make smarter choices, but I think life should be enjoyed too.
I'm doing pretty well today. I want to overeat but I'm choosing some healthy foods and zero calorie drinks to fill me up. I just need to try to stay on track as long as I can.

Good morning
irisinnia, welcome back. I hope your vacation was a good one. I agree with cj59, life is to be enjoyed. I can't tell you how many vacations I went on and would not eat the local food. I regret that. It can be enjoyed and monitored at the same time.
DotRen, I too love the Ball Park Smoked Turkey Franks. I just can't eat them now because of the sodium, but they are yummy. I like the steamable veggies. I love broccoli so I will fix that and mix it with veggie pasta.
cj59, thanks for sharing the past programs. I recently threw out all my old programs. I have been doing WW since 1990 so there have been many programs over the years. I'll check out the 3fatchicks.
Waving to WWlurker
My WW meeting was really good yesterday. The subject was how to turn to something else other than food when you are bored, stressed, etc. Some good ideas were shared.
Did not meet my step goal yesterday, but will today.

Good Morning I am still hanging in there I lost a few more pounds, and now I am only 2 pounds away from my 25% goal. Super busy with the kids and my favorite amusement park opened, and I was able to get on some of the tight rides. Also, I was not uncomfortable like last year, which was the best part and I earned lots of activity points. I hope everyone is having a good day

Hello! cj59, Thank you! We had a great time and you're right, I can totally get it back off. I had my fun, now I just get back on track. What kind of zero calorie beverages do you enjoy? Glad your day is going well, keep up the good work today! sunrose49, "enjoyed and monitored at the same time" Love this! My plan allows me a lot of freedom within limits, so there's really not a reason to go to one extreme or the other. What a great topic at the meeting! That's a big struggle of mine. Good luck meeting your step goal! leesa 25%? That's amazing! And how great that you earned so many activity points while having fun with the kids. Congratulations on all your hard work so far! Today, there will be pizza and there will be cake. What can I say? Birthdays happen. I had a fruit salad and one egg for breakfast, and soon I will be having a salad with chicken and ranch. I'm hoping that will get me to dinner, but I do have a small snack of deli turkey slices and carrots planned. I'm not trying to stay within my daily points but I also don't want to break the bank either. I'm hoping for daily +7 but we'll see. Wish me luck and I'll report back tomorrow on how it went!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today
sunrose - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your meeting yesterday. That subject is one that I definitely need help on. I always want to turn to food to deal with stress.
leesa - Congratulations on getting to your 25% goal. And how wonderful that you can go to the amusement park now and that you're not uncomfortable.
irisinnia - Sounds like you have a good plan for balancing your food today.
The zero calorie drinks that I like best are the Diet Snapple Iced Tea Mix-ins. I like the Lemon Tea one the best, but the Peach Tea is good too. I also always keep some Diet A&W Root Beer in the house and will have some of that if I want something that "sweet". I do drink a lot of water each day, probably about 10 cups a day. So I'm usually pretty full and only have a few of the other drinks.
I treat myself to some Diet Coke after dinner - I like the Caffeine Free the best. I used to drink nothing buy Diet Coke all day long. I'd rarely have any water. But now it's the opposite - lots of water and a little Diet Coke. I do still love to get a Diet Coke when I go out, I like the fountain types the best. I love Diet Coke
I'm doing pretty well today and sticking to my food plan. I made up a rough menu for the week, so I hope to stay with it. I weighed in today and have lost probably all the fluid I was retaining. I still need to lose about 8 pounds to get back where I was before all the eating. So I'll just keep working on that.

Good morning
leesa, wow congratulations on your 25%!! I love amusement parks. That's awesome you were comfortable on the ride this year.
irisinnia, hope your plan worked yesterday. Birthdays do happen (they are such fun).
cj59, you are doing great getting the weight back off. Good for you stopping it now. 8 pounds will be off before you know it.
Waving to all
I'm with cj59, I love diet cokes. I usually get the caffeine free if I can. I also like sparkling water. I do drink a lot of plain water during the day.
Met step goal yesterday and did more yard work. It is kicking my bu*tt. I am walking on the towpath with a friend this morning.

donnalynn2, Welcome! DotRen, I prefer Coke Zero too, but deep down I'm really a Diet Pepsi girl. Interesting fact - American soft drinks taste very different than Canadian ones - even in the same brand. I don't care for the American Diet Pepsi because it's not what I'm used to - it's much sweeter tasting. leesa - 25%! Wow! That's incredible! Keep up the good work! irisinnia - Welcome back! I hope the birthday went well. sunrose49, I love sparkling water too! My absolute favourite lately is kombucha. It's a fermented tea drink which is naturally effervescent. It's about 60 cal per 500 mL, depending on the flavour. I brew my own. Tonight I'm bottling some cream soda flavoured (vanilla & honey). Can't wait. It's really helped me kick my soda habit (we call "soda" "pop" here). You seem really positive lately. cj59 - I need to do better getting more clear water in. I've fallen out of the habit. I've been off the past few days. My evening out sent me into a bit of a spiral. I tried to get out of the spiral yesterday, but ended up bingeing last night. Today I'm trying again. That's all we can do right? cj59 - I was thinking of you and how you always get back on track, even after being off for a few days or even a couple of weeks. I think that's the key - slip ups happen and we need to just move on. I do hope that eventually the slip ups will stop as I get into a better frame of mind for healthy eating. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning wonderful people! wwlurker, You're so right about slip ups! I don't know if they'll ever stop completely, cj59, is like my hero and she slips up and shares and keeps going! You are definitely putting in the time and energy so I am sure you'll get to the place you want to be. Side note: That vanilla honey tea sounds delicious!! Can I ask how you make it? sunrose49, Congratulations on meeting your step goal! And wow, the next day you're going on a walk! You go girl! cj59, What great alternatives! I'm a 'classic coke' - aholic so I understand the struggle. I'd probably polish a two liter if I let myself, but I restrict it to one can (okay, occasionally two) a day and am trying to drink the water. Glad to hear you're getting back on track! The 8 lbs are very doable, so I'm sure you'll reach goal again soon! Yesterday went well. I didn't end up eating the lunch I planned, but as soon as I switched, I re-tracked and came up with a new strategy. There were two slip ups: a chocolate donette - did you know those were 83 calories/ 2 PP EACH?!? Never again! , and a Ghirardelli square - that one will happen again. I know I slipped up because I switched the lunch and had to forego the snack, but it all worked out in the end because I had 13K steps from all the chores I was doing! So I only used two weeklies! It was challenging, but I'm so pumped for today! Rally! Good luck everyone on your plans!
