We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

The comment made by the WH aide about John McCain is just disgusting, but it's exactly the kind of comment we can expect from people in this WH. No sense of respect for anyone. It starts at the top and filters all the way down. I don't know why Rs continue to accept this. As for me, I am just sick of what has become of our country. You want to portray yourselves as the party of decency and morality? Well, where is it because that decency and morality are no where to be seen in this group of cesspool maggots, and when you allow them to continue on it only emboldens then to go deeper and deeper into the slime.

You want to portray yourselves as the party of decency and morality? Joyce, all that talk about "decency and morality" was nothing more than a heavily baited hook to catch right wing Fundagelicals, and it worked. The GOP knew if they snagged religious people, which is not the same as Spiritual people, many of these folks would be GOP supporters and voters for life, no matter who or what was on their ticket. All they have to do is believe their god is in control and always vote for and support Republicans. If you're wondering how they can ignore danger and heartache that's right before their eyes remember it's been said the eyes are useless if the mind is blind. Selling religion to voters is the snake oil of today and not one snake has to be killed. It's lies and deceit 24/7 and people gobble it up like it was candy. How can people be so stupid? I'm tired of it. The fears and concerns our Founding Fathers had about religion and politics jumping in bed together and destroying Democracy seems to be here. I don't see any morality or decency in any of them. They're deplorable and proud of it.

"Pattybird were you referring to the gold that was stored in the basement of the World Trade Center? www.quora.com/What-happened-to-the-gold-in-basement-of-World-Trade-Center-after-9-11-attacks-if-there-was-anyThis does not look good for Guliani......I had no idea." Yup! That's what I was talking about. Remember how troubled his face was? Remember this sense of urgency he had that made people think he was so concerned about his fair city and on a quest to find survivors. Nope. There's gold in them there piles of concrete. Don't stop digging till you find it! America's mayor? I'm shocked that the 'family value' folk want to break up families. It's things like this that make me wish I believed in Hell.

birdgal, "The GOP knew if they snagged religious people, which is not the same as Spiritual people, many of these folks would be GOP supporters and voters for life, no matter who or what was on their ticket." Well said, Pat, very often the term "religious" has absolutely no relationship whatsoever to "spiritual." All I know is that I am just sick of the whole thing. I want the country I grew up believing in back. I don't want this sham, pretense that has been foisted off onto us. I am ashamed of what we have become as a nation. Before all those lurkers start sticking pins in voodoo dolls for me, I am very proud of what our nation is SUPPOSED to stand for and what it has always stood for until we allowed this JA to take over. I am ashamed of what we have become, and I am ashamed that so few people are even trying to voice a stance against it.

For all you mothers out there, for all you who have shared your love and comfort with young and old, I hope you are looking forward to a good Mother's Day. Linda, I know this will be the first Mother's Day since you lost your mom. I hope you find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. As for me, I have very mixed emotions about celebrating this year. I'm proud of my own daughter and grandchildren. My mom is still with us. She's actually doing better in some ways than she has in quite awhile, but this horrible Alzheimer's disease continues to exact a terrible toll. Sometimes she knows me and knows she's my mother, but more and more often now she does not. Today was one of those times when she did not. That's o.k. She's my mom, and I remember even if she doesn't.

and I am ashamed that so few people are even trying to voice a stance against it. This is the thing that troubles me the most. When the shirt hits the fan, and it will, and all the fools that refuse to speak up are without jobs, food, health care, clean water and air, they'll turn around and blame Obama, Hillary, and the Dems. They simply refuse to see the Truth. I wish there was a way they could suffer all alone. Honestly, I'd be perfectly okay with that. That's how much I despise them. They deserve it. Sadly, we are all in this together. Most of us and those we love will crash and burn right next to this silly band of fools! I wish all the Mothers on here a calm, relaxing, and fun Mothers Day! With Love!

Surprise, surprise the primary beneficiary of the US pulling out of the Iran deal is Russia. Cohen tried his carnival sideshow pitch on Ford, but they didn't take the bait. And, the JA decides to drop the push to let Medicare negotiate prescription drug prices. The swamp is getting very crowded.
