We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Good morning! It looks like we are all just discouraged and tired of the political climate. Nothing seems to change, at least not for the better, so it's not easy to stay motivated. I don't want to see us lose the thread, however, so unless anyone objects I propose that for the time being we start doing a weekly thread rather than a daily one. Is that o.k. with all of you? Let me know if it is not.

I second the idea Madam Chairperson. We could also have a topic a day about anything, if the posts get too long we just start a new one. This thread isn't going anywhere....so there!
The news from the WHITE HOUSE does not really change day by day except to get darker, dirtier and smellier. Ya know, just like a sewer.
All is copacetic here, DH is starting to put in the garden.....with all we spend on the garden I don't think we save a nickle in veggies, but they sure do taste good. Was anyone worried about the romaine lettuce problem. We have stayed away from it and are substituting ice-burg......BLAH,BLAND!
Have to confess a guilty pleasure......I am following the wedding of Harry and Megan, trying to ignore the W.T. part of her family. Oh well no count for some peoples kids.
Off to check the news.....Linda where are you? BBL

I like the idea of a topic of the day, Anne. Any suggestions for topics we can use? It wouldn't necessarily need to be political. There's just something about a royal wedding that sucks you right in. I enjoy hearing about it too. Maybe it's Walt Disney's fault! As for the romaine lettuce, yes, I've been afraid to buy any. In fact, I haven't even bought iceberg. You have to be so watchful about everything these days. Pretty soon we're going to all have to start growing our own. Linda has the green thumb in our group, so maybe she'll be our fresh veggie supplier. I briefly heard Niki Haley this morning. She was saying that the violence happening now in Gaza has nothing whatsoever to do with moving the embassy to Jerusalem. True, Gaza has been a hotbed for many years, but this current round of violence started with the move of the embassy. I can see a case for saying the move is not the ONLY reason for violence there, but I don't see where she can stretch the point far enough to say it has nothing to do with the violence happening there right now. It's all in how you spin the story, and facts evidently are to be ignored when they don't fit the narrative you want to portray.

Exactly, it does not have to be political. We do have other thoughts about life we can share.....
Subject? Anything from A to Zed

I'm around, just super busy in yard. Trying to downsize & reorganize flowerbeds after the major tree cutting down last year. So, may be MIA here & there for awhile longer. Oh, I don't grow veggies...Sorry. You will have to find a different supplier. 😉
I'm ok with a weekly thread.

Good morning and Happy Wednesday! Does it seem like the days just fly by to you? They seem to really be going fast for me.
Trying to think of a "topic of the day" but not coming up with many ideas. You'd think that would be easy as I'm sure if we were all sitting around having coffee together we'd have a lot to chat about. I just saw a question on another site asking about role models, so I thought that was interesting. Feel free to switch to another topic if you prefer.
Who can you think of in the world we live in today that would make a good role model for our kids/grandkids? Did you have a role model growing up?

I don't consciously remember having a role model as I was growing up. I suppose it would have been more likely to be the adults who were an active part of my life, as a kid I don't remember paying much attention to the news, and my transistor radio was about the extent of what I reached out into the music world. I was never really into sports. Today, however, kids are exposed to much, much more of the world outside their families and neighbors. Still, I don't see many people out there that I would want my DGKs to grow up emulating. And many of the people I once thought of as making good role models have since been shown to have feet of clay, and broken ones at that. Does anyone stand out to you? And why do you think it is so difficult to think of someone to be admired as a role model today? Is it because that being inundated with 24/7 news cycles we now are exposed to the flaws of those in the news as much or perhaps even more than their good traits? Negative news seems to get far more coverage than positive.

Laurel or Yanni?! THAT is the question lol
Wow a lot of news broke late this afternoon!
I have so much to do around here and we have rain until Monday. Looks like I'll be potting up the flowers in the garage to start.
Linda do you need more magic beans?

It seems we go days with nothing new happening, and then suddenly it's a deluge of "new" information. It's enough to keep your head spinning.

Thinking of those children and parents at the school in Santa Fe, TX. Hope this shooting won't turn out to be a deadly one, but any shooting is beyond horrific. Will this madness never end? I've pretty much lost hope that it ever will.
The royal wedding is almost here. They do look like a lovely couple, and the reporting sounds as though they have a great deal in common. Who plans to record or actually watch tomorrow's celebration? DGD (7) thinks she will maybe marry a prince when she grows up too. Should I start shopping for a hat?

Well, here we go again...22nd school shooting this year! Multiple fatalities it seems this morning... So, how are all those prayers & thoughts working for you. Me, not so much! Just so disgusting ! Wonder what JA will have to say about this. His words are meaning less as far as I'm concerned. He may as well just save his tweet!!! Shame on him & the NRA...Its all on them !

Just got home from the orthopedic doctor with my dad and see that clearly my hopes for this to not be a deadly shooting were sorely misplaced. We CAN stop this madness or at the very least make it rare if only we cared as much about our children as politicians and some idiots do about the NRA. How do those people who are willing to sacrifice our children at the altar of the NRA live with themselves? They make me sick!
