This thread was started before the dawn of time by Amazons who needed to compare their stats with other Amazons. Over time it grew into a community of incredible women who try to keep their spirits in the clouds and their feet on the ground, moving toward health. Most of us start at 5'7 and go up from there, from young singles to wise and lively elders of the tribe. We welcome newcomers who are willing to be kind and share a bit of their lives.

Flying through here. Nancy, I was thinking of pictures of the snow, not DH's unfortunate encounter with a ditch. I haven't seen deep snow in person in a while. I too am not posting much on FB these days. The Brothers Bash Become Better Buddies! Bravo!
The concert was delightful. Kristin Chenoweth sang everything from Sondheim to Dolly Parton. Her range is extraordinary. And she's a hoot. It would've been an inkling more fun if the guy two seats over hadn't felt compelled to sing along. Softly, but the accoustics in the hall are extraordinary. I suspect she could hear him down on stage. (At least he wasn't off key.)
Gosh, got to run.

Good morning, coffee buddy! Ah, the drifts, piles, and decks-yet-to-be-shoveled! And yes, I plead the Fifth on all things FB; no comments or reactions. Speaking of concerts, Adam Lambert + Queen are going to be in St. Paul on July 14. This is on my bucket list, about to be checked off! I'll be one of the annoying ones, singing along, but somehow I don't think I'll be alone! I really need a productive Thursday now that I've had a fun day with the Grands. Still have not heard if I am needed at the boutique tomorrow. But, for today, it's clear, very white, and calm; the perfect day to get stuff done. For now, enjoying the view through the sliders, with my mug in hand.

Hello Ladies! It's so nice to check in & see what's going on. It's weird not seeing many posts from Mrs Kate, MCAT and some of the others. Things are great in my world. I love the new office building. It's interesting being around 75 people all the time now. Our meetings are much more convenient and productive since we have the latest technology. My weight is ok. I want to lose 10 pounds by May 3 for when I go on my cruise. I'm walking again & trying to eat better. We have a nice indoor walking path at work that involves steps. I think it was Andrea that posted about utilizing her time at work to walk. That's wonderful. I found a book called the Low Fodmap diet. It's good for my IBS. I'm learning what I can & can't tolerate. I'm finding that I have more good days & less bad days. DH is keeping the cancer at bay. So thankful! He is only going to fL for 6 weeks this winter. I'll go down in the middle of his time & stay for 2.5 weeks. I'm skipping TX this year because I'm going on a cruise with DM, DS & DN. We are excited to check out our port which is NewOrleans. Nancy, I enjoyed AL on Idol. My DN ordered us tickets yesterday to see Nickleback at the IA state fair. That should be awesome. We recently saw Eric Church is DM. He is fantastic. we got 14 inches yesterday. It's a winter wonderland.
I'm excited for Colleen's news!
Have a terrific day ladies.

Good morning, Long and Lovelies!!!
I have been away waaaaaayyyyyy too long. My work computer never let me get back on this site after that first time, and then my Mac died an ugly death, and we just got it back. Still working through getting everything reinstalled; I have lost a lot of my playlists and downloaded step stuff on itunes - I just hate itunes sometimes. I need to find a more cloud-y way to store that stuff. I'm tired of reloading all the time. It's just ridiculous.
I had called Frieda the other day and left a VM - she said thanks; I am assuming she is hanging in there. I have no words......
So, my life got particularly crazy a few weekends ago. My DDad called to tell me that DMom was in the hospital. The long (and super scary) story short, is that DMom had multiple pulmonary embolisms, and they had to operate to put something called a TPA in her chest where the clots were, to break them up. It was very successful and she is fine for the time being. She is on blood thinners; she and I both have a genetic thing called Leiden Factor V, which tends to make your blood clot. Fun! While DMom was in the hospital, the did a CAT scan on her lungs, and saw a spot on her stomach. Apparently it could be "anything," from food to ulcer to tumor. She is being scoped on the first, so that they can look at it and biopsy if needed. So my family is keeping their fingers crossed for sure.
To add to the fun, my DDad got dehydrated this past week, that made him so weak, he couldn't stand. Turned out his BP was 90/40 - horrible! So, they got an IV on him, sent him home with instructions to eat and drink. Sigh. This was because DDad does not take care of himself when DMom is not around. Neither my DBro or myself are very happy about this. The only (kind of) good news we got out of all of this, is that my parents are FINALLY working on finishing up their will. So, yeah.
Work, as usual, has been horribly busy, and they are hiring another new manager for my area. I am going to see how things go with this lady before considering posting out. I've found some other folks in the area that may be able to help me achieve what I want with my current position; we shall see. A job description would be nice - just sayin.
Anyway, ironically, everything else is going pretty well. DSS is now doing online school from home, with some classes in a smaller environment, so that he gets out. Going well so far; at least his meds seem to be straightened out. DSD is doing very well with the homeschooling; hopefully she will be able to finish up in another year or so.
DS came home with a flyer for Middle School orientation in February - I can't believe it. He really is growing up. He's doing well, otherwise.
Okay, sorry for the mememememe, but I wanted to get everyone caught up on my MIA status.
Nancy, did everything get plowed out? Glad you had a good time with the Grands. The concert sounds fun! DH and I are going to see U2 in May - he's a big fan.
Melinda, did I miss that your DH was diagnosed with cancer? I hope all is well. Sorry that I missed that - I will have to go back through the threads.
T, I am always impressed by Kristen Chenoweth. What a talented lady. Sorry it turned in to a minor singalong......you would think that people know better at that sort of venue.
Martha, how are things in your corner of the world?
Andrea, has it been a snowy winter so far? I can only think that it must be so pretty there....
Susan, your vacation pix looked awesome!!
Okay, gotta go do a meeting. Hugs to all - I will work on being here more often again!!!

Wonderful to check in and find Melinda and Missy!! I've missed you both.
First of all, T; I posted your gratuitous snow pics. There is still 100 sq/ft of deck with 2' of snow that DH and I will tackle later together. The snow is SO heavy! Great workout, however.
Melinda, such good news about DH. He's lucky it's a type that can be managed. Also happy you are successful in taming the IBS. It can be a monster, as you well know.
Missy, you poor dear. What a nightmare with your DPs! DH got everything moved off the drive, and I got the decks cleared this morning by shovel...well, all but that really deep fall on the back deck. Later.
I will bake cookies today, make a grocery list (no, I still haven't shopped!), and finish putting laundry away, plus change out linens. I love these domestic goddess days. DN has asked me to work 11-4 tomorrow; yay!
And on with it...

Hello everyone. I've come up for air for just a bit after keeping my nose to the grindstone pretty well for the last two days. I'm hoping that I won't have to work any this weekend, but the jury is still out on that for now.
So good to hear your newsy update MCat even if some of the news is distressing. Oh how the tables turn with our parents! I worry about mine quite a lot these days.
Nancy, those snow pics are simply amazing. Quite a reminder for me as I heard on the local news this morning that today, 17 years ago, we had 20 inches - our all time record, and likely not to be repeated in my lifetime! That was something!
My only news of the day is that I had dinner with my beach house partner last night and we have decided to begin the process to sell both of our houses, including the one some of you have visited. I love that one, but it is so big and requires so much work and $$ to maintain, and isn't that convenient to the true beach. As it turns out, we each had really wanted to sell it and have a bit more financial freedom but were afraid to bring it up to the other! It will be a long process I imagine, but ultimately I'd love to start over with a little fixer-upper bungalow in a little coastal town (maybe with MM one day?) nearer to my favorite prime boating area. It's time for us to have some good luck with real estate!
My short recess is up for now. Have a great afternoon!
