He is a disaster for our country, and I'm afraid we will never be able to recover. Me too.

Good morning everyone! Linda, thanks for getting us started off for the week. The JA just has to try and say something sensational. He can't help it I suppose. It seems to be in his DNA. Unfortunately, he doesn't care how wild and outrageous or how ridiculous the claim nor what sort of destruction it may cause. I think he does it for a couple of reasons. One, he just craves the constant attention. It seems like it is almost as necessary to him as air to breathe. And two, he continually plays to the lowest IQ of his deluded base. They love conspiracy theories and the "them against us" mentality. He recognizes that and plays it to the hilt. They in turn are insatiable in wanting more. Got a good laugh out of Hillary's Russian hat at the Yale graduation, but while it was funny I'm not so sure it was the best move on her part. Still, what does it matter if she pokes the bear? No matter what she does or does not do, the GOP is going to vilify her. So why not make fun of it along the way? I really wish Nancy Pelosi would step aside for someone new. I have nothing against her, but she is a lightning rod, and we desperately need to win back the House in November. Having her at the helm just makes it easy for the GOP and their criticism. They don't even have to think up new attacks. But I don't know who is waiting in the wings to replace her? We need someone strong, vibrant, and a fresh face. I was going to suggest Kamala Harris, or Tammy Duckworth, but then remembered they are in the Senate, not the House.

Trump is happily chopping away at the TREE OF LIBERTY, he has never had a better time in his life!
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants". Thomas Jefferson
Just finished watching "THE POST". Highly recommend it, good refresher course about that time.
Trump and his gangsters are making Nixon and WATERGATE look like a High School prank. Nixon had the good grace to resign.
Linda looking for spare change for your Go Fund Me. Clever quip Pat.

Rene- BIG WELCOME!!!!!!!!! Glad you joined us.
IMHO- I think Hillary's hat trick demeans her and her Legacy. Not necessary my friend.
Anyway................Big excitement in western Ct last week, we had 5 tornadoes touch down and people are..... still..... without power. We lost our internet but got it back in time for the "WEDDING". Yup, got up at 6 and we watched the WHOLE THING. Beautiful reprieve from the ugly news in this country.
Linda you have a good point about staying away from the news for a few (or more)days.
Trump is using his position to go gunning for Amazon. Better not Don John, Jeff Bezos is way smarter then you on your best day. AND he is way richer. How he treats his employees is another issue. DH likes Amazon, I will only use them as a last resort.
I always have to be the odd one out......lol

We really liked "The Post" too Anne. You're right that it is a good reminder of what went on back then, and this administration is making the Nixon administration look like choir boys. I firmly believe that IF we ever find out all the truth about what is and has been going on it will be beyond our imaginations.
Luanne, I like Kamala Harris and Tammy Duckworth too. I think they have a bright future ahead of them.

Good to see responsible, intelligent people boycott Publix.
"Shoppers Boycott Publix Over Store’s Donations To NRA-Backed Candidate Adam Putnam, a self-described “NRA sellout” running for Florida governor, received $670,000 from the company."
One effective way to have your voice heard. And then write to the head of the company and tell them why you are no longer shopping there!
POWER TO THE PEOPLE! (or does that date me?)

OH MY! It was just a matter of time before Mother Nature got back her own!!!! "White House Sinkhole Probably Metaphor For Something One person wondered if the hole was Melania’s escape tunnel. The “D.C.” in Washington, D.C., might now stand for “dirt collapse,” thanks to a sinkhole recently discovered on the North Lawn of the White House. Voice Of America reporter Steve Herman first noticed the hole, and he says it’s getting bigger by the day. “It was noticeably bigger between Sunday and Monday,” Herman told Quartz. “It’s more than a foot long right now.” A second sinkhole has since opened up next to the first one, he said. Erosion and water drainage can cause sinkholes, which sometimes grow large enough to swallow whole buildings. The White House did not immediately reply to HuffPost’s request for comment about the sinkhole. However, the sinkhole’s location in D.C. ― a city built on a swamp and described as a “swamp” of corruption ― did not go unnoticed by Twitter users." www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/white-house-sinkhole-twitter_us_5b04526ce4b0c0b8b23edcfe

Voice Of America reporter Steve Herman first noticed the hole, and he says it’s getting bigger by the day. Yup! The "hole" in DC is definitely getting BIGGER and BIGGER every day! Do you think the JA really believes he is being unfairly targeted? Nope! He knows he's a liar. There is no truth in him. Liars know they're lying. They are so good at lying it becomes so much a part of them that they'll even lie about stupid things and swear they're telling the truth. His constant complaining and crying about being unfairly targeted is also a lie! He knows he's lying. Somebody said if his lips are moving he's lying. He's the one who is constantly unfairly targeting others!

It makes me depressed that "reality TV" is now how politics work. I support term limitation. No one should be a "career politician". The longer they're in office, the farther out of touch with reality they get. IMO anyway. I think our Politicos need to NOT get their salary forever after they retire, and they need to pay for their own health care, just like the people (US) they're supposed to represent. I don't think "I didn't vote FOR it" should be an automatic vote for something (like their raises).

LOL Anne! Love the one about the sink hole being Melania's escape route. Lots of good jokes about that sink hole. Maybe the swamp is going to get drained after all. How far is it from the Oval? Rene, DotRen, glad you are enjoying the thread. We are enjoying having you join us as well. We do sometimes get passionate about politics, but it's because we all care so very much, and this makes a good outlet for the frustration. I agree with you about the term limits, and that they should not be able to just vote themselves raises. Also that they are not entitled to any better health coverage than the rest of us, and they should be expected to pay their own way just like the rest of us are expected to do. Far too many of them get sucked into the quagmire of the cushy, privileged lifestyle and quickly forget all about the people they are supposedly there to serve. By the way, are any of you who use FB having issues with it being so SLOW? No matter what browser I use, mine is just operating so slowly I am seriously considering just dropping it altogether. I don't really want to do that though as that is how I stay in touch with out of the area family and friends. I enjoy seeing pictures of their families, etc. But it's getting so that it's more frustrating than enjoyable. Any suggestions for how I can improve this?
