You know, when Colin K. ( can't spell his last name ..NFL) started all this by kneeling for social injustice, he did so quietly, without seeking his 5 minutes of fame, donated a Million plus to charity (quietly) & never pushed the owners or players to support his cause. This whole kneeling thing was starting to settle back down, no one was making an issue of it until JA had to thump his chest & yell" get those SOB's off the field". He made it an issue to benifit his self & rile up his base. Colin K. has more love & understanding of this country in his knee than JA has in his bloated body & empty mind, I stand too, but because I choose too & could care less what the person beside me decides to do.. It's their choice protected by the 1st Amendment. Have you ever watched closely JA when he has his head bowed in prayer or standing with hand over heart. He can't concentrate even for a few minutes without glancing around to see who's watching him, etc. I heard some commentary, where they said, Ok, if the players have to stand with hand over heart, then shouldn't the hotdog vendors, the announcers in the booth, everyone associated with that particular game should stand. Do we at home stand while watching the pre game on TV...?!?!...Nope! I think the NFL owners are in for a huge surprise when this season starts. I just can't see those seriously committed to their cause for kneeling suddenly falling in line. It's all going to come down to money...who's it going to hurt worse, owners or players?...

Thanks Linda! The red poppies look really good! Good thing you are taking care of them though, because they wouldn't last long with me as the gardener. DotRen, I see your point about employers and the football players are employees. It makes me so angry at the employers though that they caved to this JA and his rabid band of followers. I hope those players who are truly committed will not be intimidated. How much lower can this country sink? Wonder which side of the aisle this judge lines up with. This makes me beyond angry, and if it were my grandchild I'd be behind bars right now after I made sure that the judge and the scumbag knew exactly where I stand on the issue. www.wkrn.com/news/man-sentenced-to-90-days-of-house-arrest-in-5-year-old-s-rape/1198505542

Flip, flop, flip, flop . . . It's like watching a ping pong game. Anyone trying to keep track of a meeting between NK and the JA is going to need a neck brace pretty soon.
Hope you are all going to have an enjoyable holiday weekend. Nothing special is planned here. It's cloudy this morning, and rained last night. Thunderstorms are predicted for the entire weekend. I may try to do some shopping as I need a new bedspread for one of the guest rooms. I shopped Belk, Penney, and Macy's yesterday but didn't find anything I like. Isn't that the way it usually goes? When you aren't especially looking you see a lot you like, but when you are ready to buy you can't find anything. Oh well, I have time. It's not like it's a necessity or anything, and it is definitely a better way to spend time than watching the news.

Suppose to hit 90 degrees here. Goes from frigid cold to hot in the blink of an eye in ND. I've been in yard all week, so inside of house is a disaster & laundry piles to ceiling. So between laundry loads am going to make 1st Rhubarb Custard Pie of the season. Yum! I have 4 HUGE red Rhubarb plants that have been here since we bought this house some 44 years ago. These plants are ancient...LOL.
I hear you, Joyce on shopping for something specific. It's always the way it goes. Are you having fun with your new home? Lots of work moving but nice when everything comes together. Do you have a big yard?
So Donnie Jr may be in trouble because of Spanish wiretapping of some Russian...LOL Who would have guessed that...LOL...The one sleazy person who I would love for Karma to bite in the behind is Devon Nunes!!!!! If there ever was a traitor to this country it's him!
Been hearing reports on the commission & some states that want to get rid of Electorial College so everyone's vote counts. I totally agree. Every stinking year ND goes Republican. It's time my vote counted too!!
I think something very sneaky happened with the young 20 year old women that got killed at the border. border Agents keep amending the events that happened but eye witnesses tell a much different & sordid story of the event. Maybe it's not just "Mexicans who are murders, rapists, etc" as JA claims!!! Maybe just maybe the Border Agent was totally in the wrong this time!!!! Makes me wonder all the time how these immigrants are really being treated!!!

"Been hearing reports on the commission & some states that want to get rid of Electorial College so everyone's vote counts. I totally agree." -- Linda Me too, Linda! I would love to see the popular vote win. Like you here in TN my vote never actually counts for anything. It's discouraging, and with the technology we have today making it so easy to quickly tally votes nationwide in my opinion the Electoral College is a relic that needs to disappear. Even if with a popular vote my candidate does not win, at least I will know that my vote was counted, but I was just in the minority. I don't mind being in the minority, but I do mind my vote being worthless. Still I always vote even though I know I could cast my vote into the wind and have it do just as much good. I think I saw yesterday where Anne's Connecticut is a leader in this movement. It must be nice to live in a progressive state. Anne, I envy you that but not your winters!

But I don't know who is waiting in the wings to replace her? We need someone strong, vibrant, and a fresh face. I do believe when and if that person does show up she will step aside. It's not easy for anyone to walk away from something you've been dedicated, committed, and passionate about for most of your life. Especially these days with a demented madman in the Oval Office surrounded by "drunk with power" Republican politicians cheering him on while he tramples all over The Constitution, The Press, The FBI, etc. I know I'm the odd ball out here but I'm cutting Nancy and Hillary some slack at this moment in time.

I'd love to get rid of the EC. I mean, why bother voting when our votes don't count?

I agree. It's time to let it go the way of the spittoon. Into the spittoon would work. Think how different life would be today if it didn't exist for the last presidential election. Sigh. I need chocolate now. lol.

I believe the kneeling thing is nothing more than another distraction. One more chunk of red meat thrown at his rabid base to chew on and get all worked up about. Much to do about nothing, imho.
I was active in a community volunteer group when I worked for the phone company and also after I retired. I was the environmental chair woman. I'm still a card carrying member but the activity part is all over for me. lol. Anyway, at the beginning of our monthly meetings we always said the Pledge Of Allegiance. When everyone stood up so did I. That's all I did. I did not hold my hand over my heart and I did not recite the pledge. Because at that time, as a Gay woman, I knew liberty and justice was only for some - not all. I just couldn't.

"Because at that time, as a Gay woman, I knew liberty and justice was only for some - not all." -- Pat
Oh Pat, that makes me so sad to read and even sadder to know that we have so much further to go before liberty and justice for all will be an actuality and not a dream. With this JA and this particular gang of Rs in power, we're much more likely to go backwards than to go forwards. Which is all the more reason that we have to stay strong and never give up pushing for real equality and real justice for everyone. You are such a strong woman, and I'm glad that you're my friend.
