I am posting Thursday night because of my early appointment.
We had rain all day yesterday and heavy rain during the night. The dinner was fun last night and I wore a pretty black dress with a lace top I forgot I had. The holiday dresses are in the. back corner of the closet and I don't wear them very often. Today I have a doctor's appointment across town at 8 a.m. I hope the streets aren't flooded. It's a bad time for an appointment but I made it three days ago and it is with a urologist I have not seen before. I am taking two girlfriends to lunch, annual tradition and then I better work on the grocery list. I didn't have time yesterday. I needed x rays at the dentist and then had to schedule appointments with the dentist (6 months) and the periodontist (3 months). Needed to plan around the next trips but felt if I didn't do it, I would forget. We are going to dinner tonight at a restaurant that has good options. I have made a few poor choices the past two days, too tired and craving sweets. So I really need to get my head straight and KOKO. I cannot let the last two weeks of the month derail me.

I get it Audrey. The challenges of the holiday season can get overwhelming at times. Today is a "planned indulgence", i.e. I only have control over part of the day and the rest is stuff I have a very hard time resisting, if I even can. I'll keep telling myself it is only 2 meals and Sunday is only one meal. There rest I can and WILL control.

Good morning Audrey, Susi and AWF. I have ONE word for today....and it's BRRRRRR. Our temperature right now is -0! We do have errands to run, and will bundle up and get them done quickly!
Audrey good luck with your dental appointments. It's always a nice feeling to get them done and over with. Good luck with your urologist appointment as well. At least you have some 'fun' things planned...going out to lunch with friends.
I agree, this time of the year is extremely challenging to stick with it. I try to 'map out' my eating events and balance them out with days of lean protein and plenty of fruits and veggies. Then I think to myself....before I was on Weight Watchers, this 'time of the year' was a total disaster. At least being 'aware' helps!
Susi, you have a great attitude and I like that you can and WILL take control. Very positive.
I was going through old journals and came across a quote that I wrote down a long time ago. One of the happiest moments in life is when you find the confidence to let go of what you can not change. Just wanted to share that.
Hope all enjoy a great healthy eating day.
To those of you living in the frigid temps, stay warm!

Audrey, from the sound of your post, and maybe I am taking it wrong, you are very tired. Hope your goes well and the doc appointment is productive and profitable for you.
Susi, it is just the season for such. Stand on yoru resolve and have a great weekend!
Ann, I am praising God with you over your good report from yesterday afternoon. If I lived up north, I would be hibernating like the bear. I have no words for temps to that degree --- or lack thereof. LOL Yes, in years past, this time of the year was try everything new anyone created --- and just watch my hips expand.
How - I am down 2.7 for the week, and that works. LOL This week I have been too tired to go to the grocery store. So today, while summer is visiting us again, I may venture there. Need some supplies.
Hope AWF have a great day!

Bee, I so envy you your 'summer' temps. I hope it warms up in a hurry LOL. GREAT job on the 2.7#'s gone. That would never had happened had you not been 'working the program' LOL I've spent many years watching my hips and belly expand. Thank you for celebrating with me.
Naomi glad you like the quote. Enjoy your soda stream. That was such a thoughtful and useful gift. LOL to enjoying the BEER. Good luck with your OP eating today. I'm sure you'll do well at WW tomorrow.
Our temperature is now registering -1.6! I'm not even going to CHECK the 'real feel'!
Thank God I have a roof over my head and HEAT. I pray for those not as fortunate.

Naomi, we will have have 70 today and 80 tomorrow. And down this way, we are famous for floating a few degrees higher than they predict. LOL Yes, we ladies have learned a lot about what to eat and what not to. Go forth as the champion you are! I did not know what North Face was, so I googled. Looks good.

Goooood morning, Audrey, Susi, Ann and all who follow! Thanks for getting us started, Audrey!
Audrey- that little black outfit is a fun and pointed reminder why we stay committted! Bet that you looked lovely. Indulging in sugary treats when tired seems like a natural habit on which to rely. It's a quick, convenient, attractive energy boost that soothes emotionally. And this time of year we can be more frazzled and sugary confections are ever present. Being aware, as you are, helps. Good to get those routine doctor's appointment checked off. Have safe travels as you undertake both the necessary and fun parts of your day.
Susi-you are absolutely right, what we say to ourselves is so important! You have a viable plan, know how to work it, and have been successful in the past. That's a great way to manage these last two weeks.
Ann- our weather forecast--is brrrr throughout the day. Am wearing Cuddle Duds under my clothes and my Cabela's hat & gloves when running errands. Thanks for sharing that quote. Old journals have lots of forgotten "gems" inside. Great tactic to remind ourselves how much better we handle not just holidays, but any week, better on WWs than we did left to our own devices!

Naomi- ha ha ha you crack me up! Love that when you do have an indulgence you truly relish it. You made that beer sound good to me, and I am someone just never developed the taste for it. You reminded me of another thing that we have learned-- the "first" one of whatever indulgence is the one that tastes best. Sounds like you are making the most of your son's visit. Ohhh.... NorthFace clothing will be perfect for your camping events. That Soda Stream ought to work out perfectly. Very thoughtful gifts! Enjoy spending time w/ the kiddos!
Bee j-- congrats! Nice to see the scale take a big step downward. Those "aware" glasses work! Probably never is a need for NorthFace clothing line to ever be discussed in the LA coastal region! It's just like no one talks about the Tommy Bahama brand here (spelling?) here. Please capture of few degrees of warmth and send them special delivery! Hope that your grocery run yields lots of tempting produce.

Today-- am continuing working on my "back to normal" goal for my mind, body, & spirit
How-- WW meeting this morning, few shopping errands for weekend family visit and dinner. Our family dinners tend to be less of a landmine than many. We are having lasagna, green bean casserole, salad, and Tuscan bean soup. I am making the soup, so it will probably include chicken since I don't like lasagna w/ sausage. Only challenges will be DSIL's platter of homemade cookies & my DS's array of gifted holiday junk she's pushing. (My sister is an attorney and gets a lot of candy, cookies, nuts and such). During the outings, I will plan for 1-3 cookies that only appear this time of year. Think that I will have them w/ milk or a nice cup of Earl Grey and eat them mindfully & sitted while looking at the pretty winter landscape. Will make it special & savored rather than a train wreck.

Ann – How wonderful that you got all three great doctors! Common sense is so lacking these days. It’s Wow Bee! How did you do that! Great job. Enjoy your warm weather Naomi – Enjoy those grandkids! What wonderful and thoughtful gifts! June – It’s always helpful when you have a plan. I loved your quote. Today will be a “bad” day, more for the sodium than for the actually food. It’s in my tracker and I have owned it. Tomorrow night my sister has agreed not to have snacks for watching the game but we will indulge in some caramel vodka. The rest of the day is “normal” eating. Sunday, DGF and I are going out for the first half of the early games. I have room for and will enjoy a beer (Naomi – sometimes you just have to have one, right!?!?) some buffalo wings and a house salad. The rest of the day will balance that out. Monday night’s bible study dinner is at a restaurant that I can easily make good choices so I am not worried about that.

Hi all. June I went back and read your quote. It's a keeper. I shall jot it down in my journal. I also remember when I worked, clients bringing in lots of cookies, fudge, candy, cakes, you name it! I tried to keep my portions down and only took what looked good to me that I hadn't had in a long time. Then again, some days were better than others LOL. Oh don't you just LOVE cuddle duds? They are perfect for layering. You are going to save a ton of points by now liking lasagna and sausage. I on the other hand would have to really keep my 'awareness' glasses on if that were around me.
Susi that darn sodium monster is forever rearing its ugly head. It's all about the balance and I know you will do fine.
I decided to NOT go out at all today. Just way too cold. I froze my assets off just taking Luigi across the street to do his thing. Carl on the other hand said that he would do the errands solo. What a GREAT guy. I think I'll keep him around forever.....

Bee, I was exhausted last night and was repairing my pants hem at 11:30 pm because the thread came out during our trip and I wanted to wear them this morning. i got to the appointment at 7:50 and the staff did not show up until 8:15. They must have had a meeting. There was a man who was earlier than me. Then this man and two women came in and no offense to anyone but he was a true elderly redneck. He started telling jokes about his wife and him and then told the Hispanic man Hispanic jokes that were somewhat inappropriate though the other man laughed politely. The wife and daughter suggested he go to McDonald's to get some breakfast. They sat across the room from him and the wife said she has been putting up with him for 59 years. He then said she was part beaner because she was part Hispanic. He was quite different and kept all of us awake while we waited. My appointment was with Dr Benewal, a urologist. I taught him how to pronounce the name like bene with the second e sounding like an a followed by wall, a teaching moment I have an overactive bladder so I was given medicine and will have tests done on the 29th to see what is going on.My daughter is the doctor's lawyer and before that my husband did his legal work so I was worked in for an appointment in just two days. It is a problem I have dealt with for years but seems to be getting worse. So many issues with old age. Those of you with those frigid temperatures stay inside and stay warm. Ann, how do animals manage in the cold like that? June, I adore the "gifted holiday junk." She should take it to a shelter where it would be so appreciated by those who have nothing. My treat is the 1 point Swiss Miss sensible sweets hot cocoa to which I add I packet of Stevia. I also drink a lot of tea but consider the cocoa as my candy substitute.

Oh my, Audrey. How inappropriate to have that happen in your doctors office. Sheesh. You'd think people would use their head!
Rachel is an indoor cat. Luigi, on the other hand has a hard time with the cold weather and the humidity in summer. Luckily there is a little place just across the street where he will go....but he's not really happy about it.
I ran out of the Swiss Miss cocoa which I love. I agree, it really is a great candy substitute.
Good luck with your testing, and I hope the waiting room is empty of 'rednecks' LOL.
