TOOT, TOOT! CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville down the track and into your station, so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
This morning we had a low of 71º and going up to 92º and mostly cloudy with winds light and variable. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible.
This morning we’ll go to church and then maybe go out to lunch somewhere or we may decide to just come back home.
Thanks to all of you on the June Tunes thread for the wonderful brunch you gave for me and my family. We all enjoyed it.
Yesterday our landlady and a man worked on redoing our walk up to the house. It is wooden and was rotting. They removed all the old wood and put in a new walk that looks much safer to walk on.
We still need to do changes of address and set up a bank account here, so we aren’t doing everything long distance. Maybe we can get that done Monday.
Ken wasn’t feeling well yesterday so we didn’t go out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We’ll check after church and see if he is up to doing anything today. They may want to wait until Jason is back from the wedding he attended this weekend and that would be OK with us.

Good morning!
Today we woke up to a thunderstorm, but nothing major. We got a little rain and that always helps. We'll leave in a few minutes for church (we go to the first service) and then we'll go on to breakfast. Our DGD sometimes comes with us to breakfast, and that is always good. We'll come home and just laze the rest of the day. Typical Sunday around here.
Doris, this morning as I sipped my coffee I was looking around at the things I had sorted to put out in a garage sale. If only I had a truck, I'd load up some things for you to use! Maybe some of your friends down there have an extra toaster? Of course they're only $10 at Wmart.
Oops time to go! DIane

Hi Diane,
I'm trying to decide if your avatar is orange sherbet or another flavor of ice cream. Anyhow it looks yummy.
We're hoping to hear something on our shipment soon but so far nothing. I know I can find a toaster at Walmart, and other things too, but we hate to go out and buy something if our shipment arrives.
Our church has one service, but two other churches use our facilities too, so it is busy Sunday mornings. It has been so nice reconnecting with friends here. Our fellowship hall is in another building that was the original church and was used when DH was pastor.
The exterminator came yesterday and sprayed all over for ants - they were everywhere. I've only seen a few since the lady came.

Hi Phyl,
I hate to have a power outage, especially a long one like you had.
The Nebraska Attorney General is the one who is after our movers for what they did. I hope they will be able to get our things back for us, especially the things that have been in my family for several generations and the things my dad made especially for us.

Goodmorning!
Several people are complaining about ants. It must be their year!
Have a great Sunday. Glad you are around friends, Doris!

Cat,
The landlord claims they have never had complaints about ants before. Maybe this is just a bad year for ants.
I like the flowers on your post.

Good morning Doris & ATF,
Sunny today. Currently 92; the high will be 98.
Going to Frankie & Vinny's house for cake & ice cream after uncle Eddie gets home from work. They are at church now and then picking up the cake.
Doris are the "pups" back with you?
Have a great day everyone!

Doris did you get another wooden side walk? I haven't heard of a wooden side walk in years. Most are cement pads here, Mine is brick, had it done that way when I first moved in here and had the front cement stoop taken out and a porch built. Lot of flag stone type side walks going in with the new houses.
Sounds like your land lord is really trying to make the place comfy for you.
Hope your son is feeling better soon.

Hi!
Doris, yes it is orange sherbet. I really like that flavor, and will eat the whole serving if we go for ice cream.
Our exterminator said it is a bad year for ants and wood beetles. We had the latter, but he sprayed for both. Hope you can go to Mi Hacienda after church soon -- or maybe for your birthday. Isn't that a favorite? I remember you used to go there, and I wished we could find one that we liked that much.
Have a great day, Doris, MJ, Hannah, Rachael, and Sarah! My DGD (9 the 23rd) asked if Sarah could have eggos. We had to cut her eating of eggos a bit short, because that was the only food she would eat.

Emily,
Enjoy your time with the boys at Frankie and Vinny's house for cake and ice cream after Uncle Eddie gets home from work. Is it the boys' birthday?
Yes, the dogs are back with us again now that we are in the house. The owners have two dogs so they were OK with us having three.

Connie,
Yes, we have another wooden sidewalk, but this one is very nice and even with no rotting boards. They are also going to put a railing on it for going up the three steps. They had planned to do all the repairs before they rented the house, but when our pastor told them we needed a place right away they let us move in before all the improvements were made.

Diane,
You remembered correctly that MiHacienda was one of our favorite restaurants. We have already eaten there while we were still in the hotel. You're right that it is one of our favorites and is family owned, so not a chain restaurant.

It sounds like you are starting to have things coming together a little but still no furniture. I can't believe that! Hope you got to eat out with Ken.
The first house I remember living in had boards for a sidewalk to the house. Two 2x4's side by side coming from the gate and then shaped like a 4 to each door. I hope the ants are completely gone. We've had ants in every house I've ever lived in but usually in the kitchens. This is the newest house we've ever lived in and we just had ants in the pantry and now just keep ant traps in there and they've stayed away
Yesterday we had lots of rain, thunder, lightning and wind.
It was glorious! Then there were the firecrackers going off too. Here we got 2" of rain. Some had hail and tornados but not us.
Today after church both our Lincoln boys and their families came for lunch. I made sloppy joes and before church made homemade buns and pudding. So we are all done eating. My sister is here and Dave and Matt, his 3 youngest and Abel went to the shooting range near here. John's went home. The sun is shining and the skies are blue with white fluffy clouds and the temps are in the 80's only.
I took Abel once again to Amegos to get his schedule and once again it wasn't ready so I raised some cain and we'll see what happens
