We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Good morning and off to a new week! Wherever you are, I hope you are staying cool. That's not an easy thing to do in most parts of the country right now, certainly not here in TN. Cohen is saying that his allegiance is to his family and his country and not to the JA. I'm not so sure about the country part, but I expect he may want to protect his family. Will he tell what he knows about the JA and his offspring? I hope so, and I bet the JA and the people closest to him are pretty nervous right now as I expect that if he chooses to do so Cohen could tell a LOT. I'm expecting to see a lot of hot air bluster, wild tweets, etc. coming from the West Wing to try and deflect, but then that's just par for the course with this administration. Personally, I'm just growing weary of the whole slimy mess. You may be shocked (just kidding, LOL!), but I am supporting a Conservative for my state representative. Not a position I normally take because I don't normally find a Conservative candidate I can agree with, but this happens to be a family friend who I believe can make an excellent representative in Nashville for my area of the state. He's very strong on improving our public education system, which is sorely in need. Also, he's one of the FEW Republican candidates for any office in my state that is not trying to stick like Velcro to the JA in his campaign ads. I could never support anyone for any office who aligns himself with the JA, family friend or not. So I am temporarily going over to the dark side, but only for this one position.

There's not a lot in the news, and it's so hot at least here it's hard to get enthused about anything. Yesterday our high was predicted to be mid-90s, but actually hit 100 with a heat index of 107. Today will likely be more of the same. Of course, once you get above 90 it doesn't really matter what the thermometer says because it is just all way too hot! Hope the fact that all is quiet here means that you are all out enjoying this holiday week, and that you each have something special planned for tomorrow's celebration. Linda, hope you are enjoying your family visiting.

God Bless America and Keep Her Safe from those without and within, who wish to do her harm.
There is so much evil in this world that seems to be coming to a head, it is a constant keeping our guard up.
Not trying to be negative, just aware. Not that was simpler when we were young, just that we were less aware thanks to our parents.
Anyway you all enjoy the festivities tomorrow.
Grandsons #1 and #4 are spending it in Philadelphia with their family. Just great that the parents are teaching the kids about their country's heritage.

You are all the best! I have a visual image of Anne with her arm thrown across her eyes staggering backwards onto her fainting couch while Pat frantically runs to find the smelling salts. LOL!!!

Happy 4th of July! I hope in the midst of celebration that many will also stop and have a time of reflection. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Very powerful words! It's this belief that has always made America great. May God forgive us that we sometimes lose sight of this. May we remember those roots from whence we came.

Happy 4th everyone. It was so nice to go to the annual Pancakes on the Plaza event in Santa Fe. Very patriotic, lots of red/white/blue. Local volunteer concert band playing, our governor (yuck) speaking, one of the candidates for governor (yay!) flipping pancakes. I did suggest to my daughter that we "take a knee" during the national anthem, but we didn't.
