We will board P when DH has surgery as I'm sure we will be home late. As far as me and surgery's. I will be ok. All I have to do is walk. And I have the Treadmill to do that. But time goes so slow on that.

Good Morning Marm and LTMs,
This morning it was 21º (feels like 10º) and cloudy and going up to 28º and with a wintry mix becoming lighter in the afternoon with winds E 10-15 mph. We have a winter weather advisory from 9:00 AM Friday until 6:00 PM Saturday. The huge snowball in the front yard is still the same and there are a few patches of snow left in the back yard.
Rachael had a doctor’s appointment yesterday morning and her temperature was 102º. The first thing he said was that it looked like either pneumonia or flu. He tested her for flu first and it came out positive so she is on Tamiflu. He also called in Tamiflu prescriptions for the rest of the family to be held at the pharmacy in case they are needed. I hope Rachael will be feeling better quickly and that no one else gets it. Rachael was worried because she has final exams starting on Monday. The doctor told her she should be feeling a lot better by then.
MJ took Hannah and Sarah to school this morning. Tonight is Sarah’s Christmas program that they are doing with some of the other churches in Lincoln. I’d like to go to Sarah’s program but will stay home with Rachael. Hannah was going to have a couple of girls over to spend the night but that had to be postponed.
Another Japan memory: I remember coming down with flu about 50 years ago and I was miserable. Ken who was about 3 or 4 then would stand by my bed just looking at me. I kept getting worse and coughed constantly and Bill finally called the doctor. He wanted to see me and it turned out that I had pneumonia and was admitted to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Tokyo for several days. The nurses brought a bit of color to the hospital by wearing different colored sweaters with their white uniforms. I remember how gently the nurses treated me and would give me a bed bath. My whole rib cage was sore for weeks afterward and I’m glad there are better treatments for flu and pneumonia now. I also remember that when I was in the hospital the nurse would come in and have me hang my head down over the bed and cough to try and get my lungs cleared. More tomorrow.

I'm so glad to have a day off. It's been a long week besides it's nice to be able to stay in where it's warm. I love having a day anyway where I don't have anywhere to go and I can stay home. I'll start laundry when DH gets up. I've decided the sheets can wait until Tuesday so I'm back on schedule. I know everyone laughs about my scheduling but with working it works for me time wise. I think if/when I ever retire I'll probably continue. Guess I'm like my Mom. After she retired she always had her schedule.
We're under a winter weather advisory too from noon today until 6:00 PM tomorrow. 2-4" predicted but with the high winds it'll whip the snow around. Hate to think what it'll be like going to work in the morning even though I don't have that far to go. Tomorrow night minus 18º predicted with a high of minus 5º Sunday when we have our Christmas at DS's.
Marm, I don't envy you your day ahead. Hope it works for you to meet family later for pizza. Pizza Ranch?

Good morning, all LTM,
Oh, Gareth, what awful temps! I'd stay in, wapped in a blanket & sitting by a fire if available! Doris your weather is just as bad.
DH is feeling a lot better, still a little concerned about eating, but he did have breakfast. I have nothing urgent that needs doing, so will probably do some dry mopping & straightening up. That's a never ending chore, I guess. I COULD go out & do some weeding, and will, in a bit. Something else that never stops here.
We went to the Y early, and I will walk agian later. DH promised me we would take a nice, long bike ride tomorrow. I have missed my bike!
In Germany, I got a paper star w/ cuts in it, one you put lights in, and fan out like almost like a star shaped lantern. I managed to put in a string of mini lights and have it hanging over the Creche on the lanai. Looks good at night!
Have a great day, everyone, stay safe & warm!

Herllo all. Well we did get a bit of snow but I for sure wouldn't call it a blizzard by any means. It is still snowing. I'm glad I 'm all stocked up on everything so won't have to go anywhere.
Gareth I don't laugh at all at your organizing and scheduling. It's a fantastic idea and I've always thought of doing it but never did. I never had the same days off each week so setting a day for this and a day for that never worked. I'd do it now but I just don't get too it.
Saying that, yes I may do laundry today. I'm not sure what food we have already made up so may make some ahead to rewarm when dh is hungry and wants to grab something. We don't eat on a certain schedule either. I'm glad he doesn't have to use insulin because then I guess we'd have to schedule. The laundry room is just outside our cozy room downstairs where we usually hibernate in the winter so I may just sit in there and do some crocheting and laundry too. I can make tea right in there and watch tv while crocheting.
Rose Marie, that star sounds beautiful. I'm sure it looks wonderful at night with the little lights in it. When in Germany I got a Christmas cup that I use only for decoration and only at Christmas Coming home the handle broke but luckily dh was able to do an invisible fix. I also got a nice wooden cross that has various Biblical scenes whittled into it
Mary that's great news on your dh's MRI results. I hope the neuro has good news also. Maybe it was just a spasm of a vessel

Hello again,
Just wanted to say DH's computer is home from the hospital. Seems Microsoft did an update on Windows 10, it had an error in it, and fouled up MANY computers. They tried to fix it, but the error kept you from getting on-line, so the fix couldn't work. Not sure how the tech managed it, probably by linking it to his own computer. All that matters to DH is IT WORKS!
Mary, good news on your DH's test. Marm, I do hope things go well this afternoon & you get to have that pizza!Do be careful in the weather!!!And, Gareth, I am a "scheduler", too. Laundry gets done as needed, but sheets are changed on schedule, linens laundered on schedule, ,meals prepared and eaten on a schedule. Do we ever deviate? Of course, but not too often. When I operated the Day Care, I would not have survived (nor would the children!) w/o a schedule!
Have a wonderful afternoon.

I just noticed I'm up to brass now. I obviously talk to much
Rose Marie, I'm glad to hear that your dh's computer is ok now. Last night something weird happened with mine but fortunately it straightened itself out. I don't have windows10. I know dh wouldn't want to take ours to the computer hospital because he would be sure it would cost more than is worth spending just to fix it. I don'tknow about there but here it costs a whole lot of have anything done to your computer. If it was in programming my ds or dgs could fix it from where they live by just taking over the computer...whatever that means.Ds did that to install skyp a few years ago but last night there just wasn't anything on the screen so I would have been able to even give him access I don't think. At least I think I have to be able to give access. I don'tknow how those things work.

Doris, Tamiflu is another of those things I'd be afraid to take but there is probably not really any danger. Just the normal really LONG list of possible side effects. I hope she's well soon and that none of the rest of you get it.

I don't get this....three times I have been writing and lost my note...I guess I willjust send and let you know windows are in and somerhing has to dry.
We are to have weather coming, but not like what you folks have . Sorry I will not comment as this is being strange.
Windows are in...Elsa is wandering around looking at all these windows open to the light.....Strange. My dear husband did not want any of that, so have been used to things being dark....will see how life goes for me. You all have a great weekend. I have got to make a trip to the bank, etc.

Good Afternoon,
I'm tired today but didn't sleep real good last night. No particular reason that I know of - I gave up feeling guilty about Marm's DH b-day since he doesn't believe me:)
This morning I finished up the GGKs cards with money & then mailed them when on our way to WM. Yes I HAD to go again today. The zucchini muffins call for oil & I didn't have enough. Also a top I bought for myself yesterday was too big so exchanged that. Like Marm I'm always cold & wear long sleeve tops - sometimes two if of a lighter weight material. I had two I liked so well & one I have already thrown out & the other DH thinks has seen it's better days. Now I don't plan on leaving the house till Sunday for church - if then. All depends on how much snow we get. Very light mist out there now & if like other times, the weather people may have built it to be bigger than what we get. I would really like LOTS! This is winter as I remember it & I'm enjoying it. It's better than the hot humid buggy days of summer. We've been out every day this week & I'm surprised that I don't feel the cold as I had expected I would. I liked the years we spent in the south but guess I'm really a winter person. Maybe if I had to be out everyday that would be a different story.
I have the last pan of cookies in the oven. Whole new learning experience again. This oven doesn't cook as hot as either my old stove or the one in our fifth wheel. Will take a little time for me to adjust. It is a very nice stove & has with some great features. DD, SIL & 2 GS's are coming for dinner(noon) Christmas Eve day & I will probably use the warming drawer then. Kind of anxious to see how it works. I'm just a little kid with a new toy!
As far as schedules go, I prefer to "fly by the seat of my pants". I have had enough years of schedules raising 5 kids. Doctor appointments & church are about as much as I want to 'have to do at a certain time" these days. Retirement really agrees with DH & me. However DH likes to know what is going to happen well in advance & at what time. When he keeps asking me I get a little irritated.
Marm, hope all is going well for you today. Was happy to hear DS will help with traveling for DH's surgery. So many health issues for you guys now at Holiday time. Enjoy your time with DH's cousins if you go.
Ruth, isn't that warmer than normal for you at this time of year?
Mary, good to hear that DH's tests were good. That's always a concern till we finally hear. I hope you get to see your newest family member soon but winter is not the easiest time to be out & about. What an amazing delivery! The dessert sounds heavenly:)
Bipp, did you get new windows through out your house? For some reason I was thinking some now & some later. They will make a big difference in heating & cooling. When you mentioned Elsa getting shut in a closet reminded me of how Waldo likes to sleep in our RV closet. DHs dress pants get cat hair all over them from him brushing against the pant leg. Then we get to church & sit down - SURPRISE! Kind of embarrassing till we realized we had to look ahead of time.
Have good evening. Be safe & warm.

Good afternoon all, I'm in the rest mode right now. I've been working at something most of the day.
Marlene, this morning I felt the need to make your peanut butter oatmeal cookies, but instead of all butter I used 1/2 c. crisco and 1/4 c. butter, similar to another cookie I make. I used a nutty p.b. and added mini chocolate chips, plus some mini dark chocolate m & m's. They are very good! Thank you! I wanted some cookies other than the more Christmas-like cookies that DGD and I made. I'm glad you are enjoying your new stove. DH goes places with a lot of cat hairs, too, but he doesn't care, and Jazmin loves to sleep in our closet too, usually on extra afghans and blankets. It's dark and quiet in there, but she has a human clock in her that brings her at certain times.
I went to our Cub (food) store about 11:00 this morning for a few things. It was very busy, with the storm predicted to hit here this afternoon, and with the holidays fast approaching. I was only gone a short time but DH was worried, and I had left my phone on the table so he couldn't call me. Since he is more dependent on me, he worries when I need to leave him. I was glad that he stayed home though because the parking lot had a lot of loose snow on it and slippery. Now they say our heaviest accumulation of snow will come between 7-12 p.m. tonight.
I'm not a schedule person like Gareth and Rose Marie. I used to be when our kids were growing up, but not any more now. Tonight we have our Christmas party here in our building with crackers and cheese and non-alcoholic punch at 6:30 in the lobby, then a program at 7:00, with a dessert following, the one I made yesterday along with a few others. I'm hoping the one I made will serve up well! Always a worry when they are depending on it.
I'm sorry I'm not making many comments today, but I enjoyed reading all of your posts. I'll BBL later tonight.

Mary, I don't know if I commented or not but that sounds like a dessert I'd really love. Have a good time at the gathering. I'm glad to hear that you got out and home safely. Yes there are, Im sure, a LOT of people shopping since people always rush to the store when a storm is coming and for the holidays too.
Marlene, yes it seems that whenever we use a new stove we have to get used to it. It's definiitely a process. And I do think you are much smaller than you think. We often see ourselves as bigger when we lose weight. I know I did. I one time wennt and bought a lot of clothes in the fall that were summer clearance and didn't try them on till spring and they were all way too big and at that point couldn't be returned so some lucky people got some really nice brand new clothing from the thrift store that I donated them to.I agree with you about the snow. Now that I don't have to go out in it I love having it. It just makes everything look so pretty and the best part is that there are no mosquitoes.I couldn't live in a place that was humid and buggy. The mosquitoes alone are bad enough. I remember all those ticks down in Arkansas.
Bipp, I'm sorry to hear that you lost all those messages. Having the extra light in the house will make things much more cheerful. My dh doesn't want to get new windows either because he's always afraid that they won't do a good enough job and he keeps talking about doing it himself but realistically he can't do it. If it was me I'd definitely be having the windows replaced. Now at your house Elsa will be sunning herself in the sun. Do you have a window seat she can sit on there.
Ok no more procrastinating. I'm starting on my crochet. I have laundry in the washer and dryer and just finished cleaning up the bedroom.

Few comments, Marlene, Dh is always touched you thinking of his BD. How much fun playing w/yur new toy. wonder if top flips up and you can take out burners and put where you want. A Warming oven would be great.
Gareth, not laughing here, Mom always had her days to wash, to iron and Friday was deep cleaning the house. It was already spotless. And that Outside Toilet, Bucket of Hot water wash the Seats down and toss the rest around everywhere. No webs or anything in that place.
Ruth, Oh how when going to DH's folks every yr. Those Ticks. Hate those things ,And sooo many.
We did go. Sure enjoyed the time w/family. Love those kids. Eye bothers me yet. but I got thru it .nothing like earlier in the day. Well eye is bugging me and watering. I can feel that darn plug. Nite All, sleep well Friends... Marm~~~

I'm back from our party. The entertainment was wonderful, one guy and gal both on guitar and another gal on mandolin, all sang Christmas songs and had a few singalong songs. A fun time! My dessert turned out good. I happened to get my own.
Marm, I hope your eye is recovered by morning, feeling good.
Ruth, I'm a procrastinator too. So easy to put off work. I cleaned the bathroom mirrors and counters today, but with a Christmas Eve a whole week away I'll have to do it again, at least the counters, toilets and floors. And it won't do any good to vacuum now either. And then there's the shopping that isn't complete yet. Oh well, tell me to remember the reason for the season.
Goodnight all 💤💤💤
PS Marlene, I love your avatar! Was it free?
