Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Not sure what we'll be doing today, if anything. I do need new tennis shoes so maybe look for them. Debbie has been so funny as now there's no Jeff to criticize her on buying things she has really revamped her wardrobe for work and gotten some really terrific deals. Seems like every time she went shopping he would criticize whatever she bought saying she was wasting money as having 2-3 outfits for work should be plenty! But she has bought four new dresses, some new tops and slacks. Both her and Maija have no need for the clothes left at the house as Debbie is now in a six and Maija is now in a 2-3 so none of their old clothes fit them anymore.
Maija had a lot of fun in Chicago but I guess they didn't go to the museums as there was other things they decided to do instead. Debbie said for Maija's 18th birthday next April since it's over spring break she's going to try and surprise her and take her and some of her friends to Florida. Of course it'll depend on how the divorce settlement goes as if money is tight she won't be able to afford it.
I've been going round and round on following WW and my scales show it this morning so I really need to buckle down as I want to be in the lower decade, not higher! I know part of it is the stress over Debbie's situation but also the realization the dreaded reunion is only one week from Friday as I just don't want to go but will to support Debbie and Maija.

Good Morning! Was reading yesterday's post and LOL when I noticed I had a typo on my gas price. It was $2.57 (not $1.57 like I wish) Sharon, I buy gas cards even when they don't have the Publix Gas Card offer just because of the skimmers. In fact, I do not even use my credit cards at restaurants. I only use cash. There is just too much crime in this world and you can't be too careful. Today I am going to play Bunco with girlfriends. Geri, Congrats on the loss! Loved the dog story, too. Sandy, I need to buckle down with my weight, too. Like Gail, I am going to track everything I eat, even my zero pt foods this week to see if that helps.

Good morning ladies!
We're starting to heat back up again this week. I loved the few days of cooler weather but it looks like that's over for now. Oh well.....Fall will be here eventually.
Sandy, I miss going to Chicago. Before we moved down to the Indy area, we lived just an hour outside of Chicago in NW Indiana. I loved taking the train in for the day. We would usually eat in the Walnut Room at Marshall Field's (I don't think I'll ever be able to call that store Macy's!), do some shopping or take in a play at one of the theaters.
Ruth, I WISH gas was $1.57!!! I think the last time I filled up I paid $2.40 but that was with using the 40 cents off a gallon at Kroger. I used half a tank on Saturday going back up north so I'll probably fill it up today. It seems lately gas prices have been rising on late Wed or Thur and going down on Sun or Mon. Of course they never go down to where they were!
I also have been struggling to get and stay back on the WW wagon. I do really good for quite awhile but then I fall off and have lots of trouble getting back on again. I always feel so much better when I'm following the WW program but I can be my own worst enemy when it comes to eating healthy. This week I have GOT to do better!

Good morning. A couple of things to comment on. Gas price at our Wal Mart where we usually get gas is $2.64 a gallon. We were out and about Saturday and in Missouri at Wal Mart we filled for $2.51 a gallon. In this area the gas prices used to be similar but these days the prices are all over the map.
Childhood memories, as children in summertime we would take our blankets out in the yard at night, lay there gazing at the stars and finding designs with those stars. We would sleep out there all night. We did not have air conditioning, but wouldn't think of sleeping out there at night these days. Also to escape working for mom all day we would go to the timber and play in the trees and creek. We were poor folks on the farm, remember there was 12 of us so we evented most of our own enjoyment but so many memories. Dad was a farmer and mother a teacher. Actually wouldn't trade my childhood for most anything.
Yes July is here and 2018 is half over. Iowa has county fairs during July and Iowa State Fair is in August. We don't participate in either, to much walking for my back, plus I am not fond of hot weather and huge crowds.
QOTD: Did you set goals for July? Anything not just weight related but also weight included. Is there a special event in you July or fall schedule?
AOTD: One goal for July is 2# loss but I had better become more dedicated. Was trying to increase my walking per day but had a huge setback Saturday so will just do what I can. As for anything special, nothing huge but the local movie theater has 5 weeks of free kids movie matinee's. I have picked up enough free tickets to take the 4 grand's to the movie either on Wednesday or Thursday each of the five weeks. If they want to go. Of course they are kids shows but a good reprieve. The 3 teenagers are eagerly awaiting their fall Day Trip with Grandma. I haven't really gotten that day planned as yet.
Haven't really decided about going to WW tomorrow, am still upset about my weigh in last week. May go and just not weigh.
It appears all of you are having a productive summer and busy as bee's, exercising, traveling, and enjoying family. Geri, I have a few hollyhock seeds set aside if you would like to jot down your address. Doesn't have to be right now as I know you are getting ready to travel. There is plenty of time. They likely need to dry a little longer anyway.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning friends. It is a beautiful morning and, though it will reach 90 later, Lola and I enjoyed our first walk of the day.
Wow, Sandy...Debbie a size 6! That plan for FL sounds lovely.
I had a typo with gas too, Ruth. Mine was 2.73, down to 2.71 yesterday. That was in NH. It is in the 2.90s in MA, just a few miles away.
AOTD: My goals for July are to: 1. Keep tracking. It is making a real difference in what I eat. I always tell members tracking is the magic wand of WW. 2. Take a contractor's bag full of "stuff" to charity every week. We have made such progress already. 3. Determine where I will move to. 4. Get all kinds of medical stuff done or have appointments set up to do so. Biggest plan is to go to FL with DD and DGD to look around, celebrate DD's 50th birthday (!), and take DGD to Disney or Universal one day.
Geri, were we all going to meet up in Boston, or was that a dream? I want to put that on my calendar if we are.
Thanks for the question, Karen E. And I love hearing about your life.
Have a good one folks!
Gail

Greetings: on my phone so there always more typos.
Ruth, i was jealous of your 1.57 gas price! Thanks for clarifying.
We are close to leaving the motel.
Macy bought Marshall Field? Either missed or forgot that! That gorgeous chandelier! Hope it's still there!
2-3 outfits for work? Oh my! Advice i got when i first went to work YEARS ago and i worked an evening shift... that i should have a different outfit for each day of the week... not make a blouse work with 2 outfits. And then as i moved up in the organization add a couple of new outfits with each job change or promotion. And replace things when they started wearing out. It worked for me... when i realized i wad going to retire i stopped replacing things.
But back to Macy. I like the Thanksgiving parade and their 4th of July fireworks...i think ill shop a bit more at Macy in support of what they do.

Gail go to your Facebook account (probably a drop down in upper right) and then to settings, then language. How odd.
Ah Ha! I knew gas prices couldn’t be that different. You two were just fooling us all right.
Ruth good luck at bunco.
Gail and Ruth tracking it all is good. I will start Wednesday as that’s when my WW week starts.
Karen, what sweet childhood memories you have.
I had 2 1/2 hr rehab today. Then we went to the hardware store, bank and out to lunch. Now finally home.
AOTD -I did not set a July goal. Should have. Events coming up are a long car trip, camping and seeing friends and family.
Sandy size 6 is awesome. Keto has certainly worked for Debbie.

I tried that Sharon, but I don't even know the language it is in and I don't understand the words in the drop-down. Weird! And that's a lot of rehab!
My motivation for today and from this day forward:
If you don't love or use it, it's clutter.

Didn't win at bunco but had a blast anyway! I won highest 3 of a kind last time.
Sandy, Size 6 for Debbie is awesome. I am sure she is at her weight loss goal. When I went through my first divorce I got down to 119 lbs (don't remember what size I was but was pretty tiny). Of course that was 27 years ago. I would never expect to get that low again (nor would I want to). My goal is 18 lbs above that. I am 7 lbs above goal. I keep going between 3 to 7 lbs above goal. Grrr.....
AOTD: My main goal for July is consistent tracking and exercise. If I can master these goals I could get closer to my weight loss goal.
Vicki and Karen, Macy's bought a lot of stores several years ago. The Marshall Fields in Toledo was also bought by Macy's as was Burdine's in Florida. Now Macy's is closing a lot of stores due to the increase in online shopping. In support of Macy's, they were a wonderful place to work for. I worked there 4 years after I moved to FL because of health benefits. In FL not many company's offer them.
Gail, I had to laugh when you said your FB settings had changed the language. Too funny! Try this: Choose the Language tab on the left. On the very first line, the one that reads "What language do you want to use Facebook in?", select Edit off to the right. Choose a language from the drop-down menu. Click or tap the blue Save Changes button to apply the new language to Facebook.

GAIL - I get it...you cannot do what others have said to do to fix your language on Facebook. I'll try to help you:
On Facebook at the top right, click on the "upside down arrow".
On the drop down list that comes up, click on the "9th word counting down from the top of the list" This is "settings" if it were in English.
On the far left of page, click on the "7th item from the top". This is "language".
In the center of the Page the first question is "What language do you want to use on Facebook?" On the far right of that question is the word in blue color for "Edit"...click on it.
Then click on the drop down arrow for "the language". Go up to the top of the list that drops down and "count down to the 19th language listed"...this is English (US).
"Save Changes" is the blue box under the language you just chose in that box.
The next two questions below the What language do you want to use in Facebook can also be edited to change to "English" and saved the same way. They have to do with translating something posted in another language into English automatically.
I hope this helps you get back to our normal in Facebook!
GAIL, just thought if one concern about the above steps. What if the languages are in a different order based on the current language's spellings of the others. Sorry I don't know the answer to that.

Gail Hope that got you fixed. K C is very good at helping us.
so I had my own problem. My calendar had nothing listed and I couldn't get it to work --just the date and none of the events for any day. After 2 hours I solved my problem. It had to do with iCloud. Why it would change when I had done nothing but it did.
We have spent the day at line dance and the DR and me trying to get my calendar back. . Tomorrow he sees another Dr. And on Wed. he has a nerve test. I really was trying to not have any appointments while Jeff is here but ended up with 2 on Monday of that week.
Now I have got to get off here since I finally fixed the calendar and get other things done.

Yes Gail I plan on meeting in Boston. Need you and Ann to give me a date, place and time. I will be there from 9/8 to 9/15. We will be going on trips every day and will plan on being in Boston on the day that works best for you both and anyone else who can make it. Just let me know.
Yesterday was a nightmare as I got a call in work from a co=worker who has in extreme pain and needed a ride to the ER. I left work and drove her. She was diagnosed with a bowel obstruction and taken by ambulance to a Nashville hospital. I got home about 7:30 after he daughter arrived and the decision was made to take her to Nashville. As of this afternoon they are thnking no surgery is necessary. We will know for sure tomorrow. Lots of inflammation in her stomach and they want to get to the cause of that.
I have been sewing two hours a day as I want to have everything delivered to the rescue before I leave on vacation early Thursday morning. Tomorrow is covered dish at work at noon and then work from 4 0 8:30 Wednesday is lunch with friends and DGS should be delivered to me. Make bread and deliver sewing in the afternoon. Early to bed for DGS and me and up and leave early on Thursday. I will try to keep in touch with my cell as I will be gone 12 days. Things have to settle down!
