Pattybird- Today I have gone from learning Russian to looking up punishment for TREASON! We all know what treason is don't we: the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or "overthrow the government".
Renee- one of the times we were in Houston we went out to Galveston for lunch and to watch the "seabirds flying." When the wind slowed down the sweat just dropped off us. Coulden't wait to get back to the hotel for a shower.
Agree, salt is a good preservative! lol

Will Republicans finally grow a spine to say nothing of some patriotism? Or do they truly no longer care about our country at all? Rs it is past time to stand up and be truly counted. Yes, some have made some statements today, but words are cheap. On a personal note, we are tired and stopping for the night. Have had 2 calls from the nursing home this afternoon, but they are not critical. DD, bless her, will take care of one and the other will just have to wait until tomorrow. For tonight, I will pretend to be Scarlett. Correction. We can now make that 3 calls for today. Maybe we should just turn the car around. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Shameful, disgusting, unpatriotic, treasonous, ugly, stupid, pathetic, self-serving... and I could go on and on. Spent most of the day turning TV on, then off and cursing at that f***ing moron.

Pence is just as disgusting. Why didn't he stand up and tell the JA he refused to defend this? But no, he's too busy sucking up. He is one person the JA can't fire, but he just sucks up and plays the JA's puppet while the JA is being Putin's. There are no words to describe how I feel about this.

My heart is breaking and I am so scared for our country. WHEN will someone stand up to Trump, not just with words, but with actions. HOW can anyone still support him (yet I know they do).

Lani-may I use your quote on some of my Republican friends and family.
Rachel was excellent last night, her time line was right on!
Are those who read here going to cheer or weep?:
"The MSNBC host opened her segment on Monday night by outlining the various signs that the president had been compromised by Russia, including his refusal as a presidential candidate to say anything "remotely negative or critical about Russia or its president," his hiring of Paul Manafort as his campaign manager despite the fact that Manafort had been working doing Putin's bidding in the former Soviet Union, his hiring of Carter Page as a foreign policy adviser, his numerous business ties to Russia (including some that were furthered during his campaign), his campaign's intervention in the Republican Party's platform to make it more pro-Russia and then cover up their tracks, the number of Russians who attended Trump's inauguration and his disclosing top state secrets to Russian officials last year.(IN THE OVAL OFFICE)
"There was no explicable reason for any of those things unless you were willing to believe the worst," Maddow concluded. "And honestly who wants to believe the worst? You don’t want to reckon with it. You don't want to think too hard about the worst-case scenario. Because for one thing, it raises very uncomfortable questions about what we should do as a country, what we should do as citizens if the worst case is true?"
She added, "For everything that we’ve been through as a country, for every kind of trial and challenge and intrigue and embarrassment and scandal that we have been through as a nation, we haven’t ever had to reckon with the possibility that somebody has ascended to the presidency of the United States to serve the interests of another country rather than our own. What's the corrective to that? How do you remedy that? These are no longer hypothetical questions. This is where we are."
Maddow later described Trump's relationship with Russia as a "serious national security crisis" for our country — and she's right."

My heart is breaking and I am so scared for our country. WHEN will someone stand up to Trump, not just with words, but with actions. HOW can anyone still support him (yet I know they do). Luanne, that is exactly how I feel--heartbroken, scared, and just sick to think that this has happened to our country. This can not be wiped away with a tweet nor even with the forced reading of a statement which in and of itself was just downright insulting to anyone with half a brain. We ALL saw and heard that press conference, and JA the difference between "would" and "wouldn't" is not going to cut it. If that one statement had been all you had screwed up during the press conference, maybe you could worm your way out of it with that; but, that didn't even begin to cover it all. Yet, the diehards who are supporting him will hang on to that like a drowning man with a life preserver. They're too ashamed to admit what fools they've made of themselves, and what damage they have wrought on our country. Those very people who are oh so busy shouting how much holier-than-thou they are and how much more patriotic they are than the rest of us. Well, get a grip JA supporters because you have sold our country down the river, and Putin is rolling on the floor laughing at us all. You had the chance to choose a decent Republican to be your standard bearer, but when given the opportunity to let all that pent up hate inside you out in the open by choosing this deranged JA you just couldn't resist. All those good, decent Republicans who came before must be rolling in their graves in shame.

Good morning everyone! It's off to a new day and the same "mess" from the WH. As predicted those JA supporters who evidently never bothered to actually watch or listen to the whole press conference debacle are jumping on the bandwagon of it was only that one word, and he misspoke. Those are people who really don't want to know the truth because the entire press conference with the JA and Putin is out there for all the world to easily go back and see even if they didn't do so in "real" time. The fact that they don't bother to do so just proves that they really don't give a d*mn about the country. No one, IMO, could actually watch or listen to that entire press conference and come away accepting this ridiculous denial. Whether he said "would" or "wouldn't" becomes completely irrelevant when taken into the context of the entire thing. But then, he knows his followers well and that's exactly what he's betting on. The R politicians are trying to gauge the voters reaction, because to them it is all about getting re-elected and not about the country. Many R voters just seem to be too lazy to bother trying to find the truth. As I said yesterday, they can't face what a colossal mistake and disaster they have brought about for our country. I truly hope someone will challenge the JA for the nomination. I have to believe that even though the JA's supporters are loud and obnoxious, there are still good Republicans out there in the country who do want what is right for the country more than they want to feed the ego of a tyrannical bully. Like Diogenes, there surely must be some who are searching for an honest man to lead their party.
My personal political and social beliefs don't meld with the Republican party, but never before have I believed that any President did not have the best interest of the nation at his core belief. I trusted that they were doing what they truly believed was best for the country even when I vehemently disagreed. But this JA, I believe with my whole being has absolutely no interest in anything other than promoting his own self. What a sad, sad day we have reached.

"Remember when Republicans were incensed about American citizens criticizing America on foreign soil? I bet The Dixie Chicks do." -- Chicago Tribune
I sure remember! Such a firestorm! Republicans were infuriated and were bombarding country music stations demanding that they no longer play The Dixie Chicks music. Ha! It's evidently the epitome of evil for a musical group to criticize the country on foreign soil, but perfectly o.k. for the "president" to not only criticize our actions, denounce his own intelligence agencies, and actually equate the US to Russia trying to bring us down to that level. Just trying to keep it straight about who is allowed to criticize and what they're allowed to criticize about. Living in the dictatorship the JA is trying to form, it's going to be important to know and follow the rules. When Republicans are in power, it seems to be a different set of rules for all occasions. Maybe SHS will write us a handbook. While she's doing that, I wish she would also take time out to teach the JA that collusion is spelled with a double L and not colusion as he wrote it on his prepared remarks. But then, when you're such a stable genius you shouldn't be expected to also know how to spell.

And what is worse are the people who are following him, blindly basing their loyalty on the fact that he is rich,he is a builder, and he is full of shite. They can't do anything as simple minded as reading the biographies of Vladdy, Kim Jong-un. (North Korean) Adolf Hitler. (German) Joseph Stalin. (Russian) Bashar al-Assad. (Syrian) Benito Mussolini. (Italian) Mao Zedong. (Chinese) Saddam Hussein. (Iraqi) Muammar Gaddafi. (Libyan) and then connect the dots. In all of these regimes the first thing to go was the press, and freedom of speech, then the rest of the freedoms followed. Our Founding Fathers wondered how long a Democracy would last. Looks like we are going to find out. .
