We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Alternative Facts Alternative Facts Alternative Facts...flying all over the place.
The only thing "big" about Tweety is the size of his nose aka Pinochhio
Tweety says Schumer cries "fake tears"....well, when you (Tweety) have no soul or empathy, of course you wouldn't recognize a tear ..."sad"!
Back to my bench. Wind gusts of 50 mph today. May need that glue for more reasons than one. 😊
Think HEALTHY...Mentally & Physically....

Linda, hope we have a lot of that glue because I'm with you there on the bench.
Absolutely nothing I see being reported is hopeful. While I see people on my FB feed who are cheering Tweety on, I am also seeing people (just as many and probably more) there who are appalled by what he is doing. Since I live in such a red state, I suppose that is encouraging.
Had a call this morning from a tenant who is from one of the 7 countries on the list, he is very worried because he lives and works here legally and he rented a house from us because he was waiting for his wife and young children to join him here soon. Now he is afraid they will never be able to come, and they are afraid of Tweety even if the ban is lifted. I feel so sorry for them. This man works very hard, has saved and managed to start his own small business which is doing well, and now he is afraid he could lose it all. DH is going down tomorrow to meet with him, and we will work out an arrangement to let him break his lease. If his family can't join him, at least anytime soon, he would be better off with an apartment rather than a house. So we will work with him on that. It's so easy to sit in the West Wing and toss out these things without ever stopping to think that it is affecting real people's lives.
I guess the immigration issue especially hits home to me because DH was an immigrant, and I personally know so many people who are immigrants from many different countries. It really makes me angry when I see people carelessly acting as if these people are somehow inherently less worthy simply because they were born somewhere other than the U.S. They act as if they are all coming looking for a handout, when in point of fact the vast majority are hard working, honest, good people who contribute far more to our society than some of the limited people I know who voted for Tweety and are supporting his immigration policy.

My blood pressure isn't doing well with this constant nonsense from the LIAR-in-chief. Need more chocolate...

Pat, you have chocolate? Perhaps I can take some off your hands. I'm doing it for you, of course. I can honestly say this is the first time in my life, and I'm 71, I've been embarrassed to be an American. I'm ashamed, angry, and sad that so many Americans are perfectly okay having a dictator in the WH. All the servicemen/women that died for their countrymen/women, have perished in vain. Those still alive with broken bodies and tortured souls, living on the street or in VA homes, you deserve better than this. The world is pointing and laughing at US. We're a pathetic joke. It doesn't feel good at all. @@ I'm finally starting to feel better. Cold wise. Not country wise. Thank you all for your words of comfort, Healing Thoughts and Good Vibes. Vicks on the bottom of my feet had some kind of magic healing power. I'm a believer! Thank you, Anne. Remember when the going gets tough...Pat has chocolate! lol.

Starbucks says it plans to hire 10,000 refugees over five years in the 75 countries where it does business. -- Go Starbucks!!! Not a business I usually frequent very often, but I'm going to have to start patronizing it more.

WOW the sorrow conveyed in that poem touches the very depth of your soul.
Who among us in this country are not emigrants or the descendants of immigrants? I don't care if you and yours went through Ellis Island or went straight to the pier.
1620-first boat people!
Nobody leaves their native land and brings over their family because everything is peachy keen where they came from except for the odd adventurer or two.
