I agree that the current Republican party in absolutely no way resembles the party of the past. Ronald Reagan, who they used to think walked on water, would never recognize what it has become, and he would never become a nominee of the party that exists now. Like you, Linda, there's a lot I don't agree with Kasich about but he does come across as genuine. That's why he has no place in today's party. They don't want genuine. All they want is hate, hate, and more hate, the uglier the better. As for Rand Paul he's gone completely nuts. He was a huge critic of Trumps during the primaries. Now he can't suck up to him enough, and he seems to be vying for a place as Putin's water boy.
In my state we are being bombarded by Marsha Blackburn ads running for the Senate. The same ad keeps going over and over with the JA and Marsha. That's fitting, because they are two of a kind. But it sickens me to know that the fact she's trying to present herself as a clone of the JA means that he has a very strong base here. How can that be? How can what I used to think were good people be so utterly different than what I always thought they were? Marsha's running against Phil Bredesen. He would make a very good senator for TN, but I'm afraid it's a losing battle. He was a very good and popular governor here, but nowadays that doesn't seem to matter. All that matters is what Trump tells them. If he told them to all jump off the Mississippi River bridge, they'd be lined up for miles to do it chanting "lock her up" as they went over the side.

I don't have a lot of faith in Omarosa telling the truth, I think she wants to be sensational, but even with that there has to at least be some kernels of truth in her book because a lot of it can be fact checked with actual facts not alternative ones plus she has all those tapes she is slowly releasing (some are saying maybe over 200?!). In this article on CNN's website this morning the author who was actually in Puerto Rico during and after the hurricane discusses the claims Omarosa makes about how and why the JA and the WH handled the devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico. According to this firsthand account, she's pretty much on target with this particular subject at least. Here's the link if any of you want to read it: www.cnn.com/2018/08/17/us/omarosa-puerto-rico-trump/index.html

He's made a mockery of the institution by bringing her and so many other unqualified people into the fold. It shouldn't surprise anyone that she'd write a book and record people "just in case". She learned every dirty trick he taught her during the many years of their association. Both are disgusting!

If there were decent & honest people in the White House, no one would have to worry about anything Omarosa has on tape, video, etc. JA & staff all brought this whole mess on themselves. The fact that Omarosa is making money off it, my goodness, what did they expect. I would bet there are others who are complaining loudly now about her, have or are doing the same thing with recordings & documentation. That is just who this bunch is.
Racheal Maddow's interview with John Brennan was awesome last night. I think JA tangled with the wrong guy.

It seems we are all in agreement about Omarosa as well as the caliber of people working in the WH.
As for Rachel's interview with Brennan, I only got to see a little of it but it was very good. I think they repeat those Friday segments on Saturday, so I'm hoping this one will be repeated. I'd like to see it. DH did see it and said it was good also. I really hope Linda is right and the JA has tangled with the wrong guy. He is so used to being able to bully everyone, it must be a shock to him to see people actually standing up and fighting back. Like most bullies, when he finds he can't make them cower he'll probably start crying about how they are all being so unfair to him. Most bullies are cowards when it comes right down to it, and I don't think this particular bully is any different--just perhaps nastier than some.

When she met up with "Mr. Trump" she had her B.A. in dirty tricks. She did her graduate work and post doctoral fellowship under his tutelage.
Please note, I am copying John Brennan's slam by calling Mr.Trump Mr., not President, I loved the way he snuck that in.

Rachel's interview with John Brennan last night was fantastic, two brilliant people who made for an informative and interesting discussion. The only other person she has had on of that caliber was James Comey. Rachel was at the top of her game. Joyce, and of course to our Dear Ones who like to visit, it can be seen on this link. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show

I noticed too, that Brennan never once called JA President! That speaks volumes about his feelings towards JA. I think Brennan knows the truth behind JA,his election, & the Russians. I’m also happy he called out the Republican Congress & how they will be the responsible party should a disaster occur! It’s almost like he knows or suspects something may happen. Scarey!

My friend did have a record player & she still has it to this day. Plus, all the records she ever bought. We were just reminiscing about this not long ago. Wow. She still has all of them? That must be a precious collection! I moved around so many times in my life I hardly have anything from my childhood. I still have my teddy bear, Theodore. And, he's a bear not a panda! I remember my Mom telling us kids, 5 of us, to enjoy these days because they are the best days of our lives. She was right. Summers were spent riding our bikes, having family picnics, going to the beach, sitting on the stoop at night with family and friends eating ice cream, and staying up late. Oh, and always having that transistor radio near by. I even had it under my pillow at night. Not a care in the world. Yup. Those were the best days. BTW, I won't call him president either because he isn't a president. He's a traitor. So is this congress and so are the the people that still support him. He's tearing the country to shreds, selling us out, and nobody has the backbone to stop him! I still have a difficult time believing this is happening here but it is. It's heartbreaking.

Melania is speaking out about destructive use of social media. That really is an important topic, but unfortunately, her message is doomed before she even speaks because of the hateful Tweeter that she's married to. I really wonder why she chose this as her platform. She has to know what irony it is. So did she deliberately choose this platform because of that very fact, did she choose it because it's an issue she feels strongly about and yet doesn't realize that the JA steps all over her message? Surely she must be smarter than that. So then you have to think it was a deliberate choice because of her husband. But then what's the point of even doing it. Why not choose a message that she might actually be able to get some traction about. It's a conundrum to me. Maybe she didn't choose it at all and someone on her staff chose it for her. If so, her staff must have a warped sense of humor.
Like some of you, I also will never refer to this aberration in the WH as President. I may call him many things, but it will never be President. I first noticed people dropping the title President, however, with President Obama. Many commentators on the news often referred to him as Mr. Obama. At the time the lack of respect in using his well deserved title really stood out to me. Always before, whether I agreed with or liked a President or not, I have always referred to them respectfully with their full title. But this JA? I have no respect whatsoever for him. He doesn't even deserve the respect of being called Mr so for me he is and always will be JA.

Just like Nixon - having an enemy list. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Being on that enemies list would truly be a badge of honor. I can't think of anything worse that could be said of someone than to say that they were considered a friend by this JA.

nashville11 , except by all accounts he has no friends, only family and employees. And never has had a friend as far as I can tell. No pets either.

I don't get "bullying" as her platform either, unless she starts at home!

And never has had a friend as far as I can tell. No pets either. I heard he doesn't like animals (his sons like to kill them though) because he's afraid of germs. I don't believe it. If he did have a pet the animal would probably get more attention than him and that wouldn't be a very good thing for the animal. Also, when you have a pet you love them and he's not capable of loving anyone but himself. Who needs friends or pets when all you need is you? I can't imagine him being a loyal friend any more than I can imagine him loving an animal. He's all about what's in it for me? Sickening.
